Its fair and balanced according to killers so please tell me the counter

Spirit is a Killer with Builtin EZ MODE.

Accept that there's no counter, just tragic attempts to do something that resembles "counterplay", like throwing pallets that are in front of you (expecting the spirit to "phase around the pallet"). Or hey, just start walking midchase/midphase and hope that the spirit doesn't stop phasing while you're still having LOS.

It all comes down to luck, not skill. If you won the coin flip, it wasn't because of anybodys skill, if you lost the coin flip it still wasn't because of anybodys skill.

    Still Beautiful.

Why are there so little crows on some of the maps? Just got out of a match on Autohaven where there was only two crows on the map. Two! I thought they were more abundant. Is it just RNG or is the crow challenge messing with the number of crows that spawn?

    Confirmed.

I tried the "Disturb 50 crows" challenge yesterday, was playing on autohaven map two times, never saw a single crow on Autohaven (Blood Lodge and Wretched Shop). And no, I didn't run calm spirit.

On the other hand, there's a crow almost everywhere on Yamaoka Estate - Sanctum of Wrath. Disturbed 42 crows on that one.

You can't interact with (almost) nothing when in dying state because, well the whole dying thing you know. It wouldn't make sense with the other things you can't do when downed.

Exactly. When you're in the dying state all you can do is crawl, which bascially is using your hands and legs (to crawl).

Of course, you can not pass on items to other survivors, which would also involve using your hands. This is completely logical, and therefore justified from a "logical" perspective, because it "makes sense".

    kek.

Yeah, they said the EGC was supposed to be a brutal end to the trial. But when survivors just 99 doors, it doesn't really accomplish that. Now I don't mind when survivors do that, I do it too, but it doesn't make it an exciting ending. You're right about that.

Maybe the EGC could start 30 seconds or so after the last gen is completed?

If you want to force the EGC on survivors so badly, you can always open one of the exit gates and start the timer.

But that was kind of the point for Charity 1.0 to begin with was having Streamer gear. Behavior approached them and added their content into the charity case.

I'm not sure why charity must be tied to "Streamer Gear". I don't see a connection between those two things. You say, there should be a charity case 2.0 for streamers that missed it. The charity case is meant to donate to "Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.", hence the name "charity case". It's name does not indicate that it's a Streamer Gear DLC. It might have been a great idea at the time to push the DBD brand. But I don't see a point doing that now.

  • I would buy a charity DLC, but not if it has streamers names or logos on it.

You don’t need expert level communication to be able to relay useful information that 24/7 aura reading gives you. Most maps are not that huge and have identifiable structures, so unless you’re talking about Shelter Woods it’s usually easy to pass the message along.

An example: the killer is Trapper. They immediately start setting traps near where they spawned. The person using Object sees this, runs towards where they see the killer’s aura, and sees that Trapper is near the coal tower. “He trapped around the coal tower, I’ll find them and disarm.” Is this a feat of coordination only possible from a SEAL team six?

Or if the killer doubles back to someone on the hook, and it’s a Deathslinger with a small terror radius, now everybody knows well in advance of any other in-game clues because the guy who can see both auras can just tell them “he’s going back to the hook”. No need to talk about quadrants, east or west, or longitude and latitude.

Or what about a guy who’s being chased. “I’m being chased,” they somehow find the words to say. The guy with Object looks and oh, what’s that? The killer is walking backwards. “He’s moonwalking.”

I think you’re being disingenuous if you can’t see ANY useful application of full aura reading on the killer at almost all times. Remember how bullshit it was that Freddy got full aura reading on survivors, and how the devs reworked it to remove that element of his kit? Because survivors hated it for good reason. There’s a reason aura reading perks have cool downs, or limited applications. There’s a reason “blindness” exists as a status effect, because seeing auras IS A STRONG EFFECT and not being able to see them weakens you.

Announcing that a Killer is moonwalking (which usually happens around tight loops or jungle gyms) ... even when you say it out loud, it usually is already to late for the other person to react in time to what you just said. Aka, not useful information (anymore).

Announcing that a Killer is coming back to the hook, well well. You still have to unhook that team mate, whether he's coming back or not. I'm never staying around the hook (to heal), just in case killer comes back, so again, not useful information.

And regarding Trapper vs. Object: nobody who's using Object knows which killer they are going against. They could also have a Ghostface as killer, what then (if GF knows there's an object user, he can approach the Object user stealthed)?

You say i'm disingenuous if I can't see ANY useful application. I'm not saying there are none, I'm just saying you're overexaggerating.

I'm not using Object, and I wouldn't care if it just get's removed. Still, it's not as big of a thing as you and this forum make other people believe it to be.

  • @xenotimebong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1231255#Comment_1231255

Object of Obsession gives a survivor the ability to see the killer’s aura when outside of their terror radius. If you’re playing in a Survive with Friends group and run the perk, you can keep an eye on everything the killer does and tell your team. “The killer is kicking a gen near the shack. The killer is going around the outside of the building to cut you off.” And so on.

Not as bad against a killer like, say, Hillbilly, but it’s pretty crippling if you’re playing Trapper, Hag, Deathslinger, etc.

So, how do you know that the Killer is at the Shack if you're at the other side of the map without having visibility to shack?

How do you know that the killer is going around the outside of the building to cut someone off, without having visibility of the main building (you don't see a survivors aura, just the killers aura)? And if you're already watching the main building, you wouldn't need the aura reading perk, you could just use your eyes to see that the killer is going around the building.

Just because you can see the killers aura doesn't mean that you can actually infer meaningful information from it at a great distance. And furthermore, even if you could, it also doesn't mean that you can communicate that information to your team in a fast and meaningful way (you need to describe it, they need to understand it, and it needs to be more than just "at shack" or "at mainbuilding").

I honestly would like to hear how those "SEAL Team SWFs" really use object, as this forum pretends they do.

How would someone relay this movement to their team mates?

    grafik.png

Survivor #1: Killer sighted in Quadrant 5, heading North-East.

    Survivor #2: What's Quadrant 5?

    Survivor #3: Errr, Where's North?

Survivor #4: What about East? Where's East?

Survivor #1: Didn't you read the DBD forum? You're SUPPOSED TO KNOW this stuff. After all we're a SEAL Team SWF with 2 Objects of Obsession, dammit!

Survivor #2: mmmkay. I'm gonna do that gen over there.

    Survivor #3: yeah me too.

  • @xenotimebong said:

Scenario: a SWF with two people running Object of Obsession, so there is always one person with aura reading relaying your actions to the rest of the team, no matter what you do. Typically if there’s one Object you can at least try to incapacitate them, but I’m not sure what the killer is supposed to do against two of them.

Has anyone else had the pleasure of this extremely fun experience lately?

Could you please just walk me through that process of "relaying your actions to the rest of team"?

    How exactly does it work?

  • It's funny how he mentions that Survivor Streamers have stress free matches while they chat with their community, when this is also the case for killer streamers.

Heck, there are Killer Streamers that even play some strange card games during their matches, cards that tell them what to do (even if it's actually detrimental to their gameplay) and guess what, they still get their kills.

  • @Bullettimegod said:

So imma put this like this: a killer job is way more stressful as it is. Now if a killer remembers a toxic player, why shouldnt the killer punish and bring them out the game as fast as possible? Its the survivor fault for being toxic. Its the survivors choice to be toxic. So now its the killers choice to punish them. Usually i find survivors who complain about this are whiney toxic brats who realized the real world a bit. Your actions has consequences.

This is just misleading the discussion because it's wrong. Don't act as if everybody who get's tunneled, camped, continuously slugged or .... or mori spammed deserved it.

Stating something like that just shows how far off the perception of some individuals in this forum deviates from reality.

  • @CANxOFxCORN said:

Camping in this game (which is a legit strategy, specifically for new players, but more understandable to complain about) is when the Killer gets one hook, and won't leave it, forcing the other 3 to either potentially sacrifice themselves for the greater good of the "camped" teammate or the "camped" teammate stays put hanging in to ensure gens get done for the greater good of the "non-camped" teammates. Keep in mind when All gens are done, and the Killer only has 1 hook, its his/her only strategy.

Tunneling (which is the dumber of the 2 to whine about) to my understanding, is when the killer chases one survivor, to ensure they get downed and hooked. Many factors are at play on this one. Lets say the killer has been getting "God-Looped" "Clicky-Clicked" and "Pallet-Slammed" for 60% of the match (3 gens), Is that really "tunneling"? Sure, the Killer could move on to another Survivor, but whose to say it isn't an "SWF" match with Purples & Reds? After getting 1 hit on the first survivor the Killer is just supposed to move on, and potentially deal with the same issue on the next Survivor? You can really tell when it's a "SWF" as well, because after "Survivor #1" has used up 75% of the pallets on the map, another survivor comes along to body block, trying to waste the Killers hit knowing the Killer has a cooldown after using the hit, buying more time for "Survivor #1" to draw more distance between the chase. Even if its not "SWF" the killer has the thought in the back of his/her head saying if I go for "Survivor #2, 3, or 4" then whose to say that particular player isnt just as good, and "Survivor #1" gets the heal, now I'm back to square one, with 1-2 gens left, or worse all done. Another scenario is when the Killer finally does get "Survivor #1" and the hook gets Sabotaged right before the Killer gets the hook, now he has to continue chasing.

It was a rant, I will be the first to say, getting looped, slammed, sabotaged, gen rushed, and blinded is annoying, but I understand it is the Survivors only real way to prolong the game to ensure survival (the goal of survivors). However the Killer has more limitations, to gain bp, & potentially get a nice 2-4K, Chase, Down, and Hook Survivors.

Point being, How can a Survivor complain about "Camping" one match, then the next complain about "Tunneling", they are literally polar opposites. Should all Killers queue up, then just sit afk the whole match, to ensure neither happens? I play both roles, and always give a "GG" or "WP" after match, and very rarely as a Survivor run into a insulting Killer. However If I play Killer, I do the same in post game chat, and very rarely run into a wholesome Survivor, If I have a bad game "You're a trash killer" "EZ" "Can you Imagine __________", If I have a good game "Tunneler" "Camper", or BOTH! How? They are polar opposite strategies, you can only pick one. Sorry for the rant.

As the first response already explained, you can get camped, team comes in to do a rescue attempt with bodyblocking and maybe BT, killer focuses the unhooked person = tunneling. So tunneling can still happen after getting camped (of course not while you're getting camped).

    • Camping and tunneling exist and are "legitmate" strategies. Yes.
    • Camping and tunneling are not the same. Yes.
    • They both can still happen in the same game. Yes.

So not really sure what exactly you're trying to communicate.

You're missing the point here.. a survivor bringing a BPS or multiple is a gift to the killer. You would thing one would have some common decency to not be selfish and tunnel people out of the game.

I do indeed get the point. I've been there too (many times). There are people that just don't care, and there always will be. There's nothing you can do to change the way the killer plays the game. The only thing that you can do, is change the way you do play it.

A lot of killers are actually quite reasonable (I know, hard to believe if you just only look at this forum/echo chamber), so just don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Funfact: during all the time playing DBD, I've only encountered a couple of survivors and just one killer (yes, just one) actually thanking me for bringing a BPS (unless we farmed). I usually thank people when they bring a BPS or a Gruesome Gateau, except if there's really a strong reason not to do so.

  • @Ivaldi said:

I've had matches where our group brought 4 BPS and had killers proceed to tunnel. Their excuse was "Bringing BPS does not entitle you to free Blood Points", which I get... if you don't want to farm, it's fine. But at least give people a chance to earn something from it.

If you don't like high risk/high reward strategies, then your best bet is to make sure that your team never uses more than one BPS per match to make sure that one bad match isn't going to ruin it for you.

Spreading the Party Streamers across multiple matches means that you're also spreading the risk and your returns (bloodpoint gains) are going to be more averaged out (outliers will be less dramatic to the total result).

  • Tbh, I don't understand why people think that DBD moris look cool, because they don't. They really don't. They are just weird, somehow. Somethings is just wrong with them. Maybe it's the toned down blood spatter, the sounds or the rag doll animation, it's just weird somehow and that makes it almost cringy for some moris (prime example of that would be the Demogorgon sucking on the head animation).

The Friday the 13th kill animations on the other hand are spot on and look very cool, even though most of them are quite simple.

  • @jebbush said:

He is an animal in human form and exists only to amuse us. Survivors have had it too good for too long. No longer can these noobs rely on their infinites, safe pallets, back to back jungle gyms and absurd map sizes. If you are complaining about the recent changes, I have only one advice for you. Get good.

Not sure what is more disgusting, that fact that this comment is still up, or that it has 16 Upvotes.

  • Well, not really the same thing, but there have been quite a few threads already about implementing more customization options into the "Kill your Friends" Gamemode in order to test various things that would vastly alter the way the game is played. With this, at least people could try out new things.

Fun fact: since January 2020, even Friday the 13th has got more customization options for "Private Matches" than DBD has for "Kill your Friends"

  • @zimer said:

You should be able to get to max level by completing all the Quests/Challenges, and if you can't do some of them because they may be too hard, you should be able to get to max level by grinding XP just for playing games.

Here you do all the quests, then you gotta grind 10+ more levels at least (which can be 90+ games?). I didn't buy the pass for this exact reason. And my guess I'm not the only one who didn't buy because of this, so the DBD devs lost some money because of this.

    just a thought

I don't think they lose money on it. I know at least two people that have bought the premium pass AND tiers to complete the Rift (just because). 500 Auric Cells (worth 5 Tiers in the Rift) cost as much as some of the cheaper DBD Chapter DLCs.

Also, once you bought the premium pass, reached tier 70 and made your auric cells back, now you got some auric cells sitting there, ready to be spent on cosmetics or a DLC. I'm pretty sure people are going to spend some of those cells for that, because that's also what I did.

And also, even if you never buy anything else with those auric cells (the ones you bought to get the premium pass), you still had to buy them. Think about it.

  • DBD is not very good in the tally screen statistics department.

They could actually take a peek at what the Deathgarden Team did.

At least they could adapt that overview where you can see everybodys (Scavenger and Hunter) stats.

  • Consider this post to be a LOL (without the LOL vote button).

    Also, not op.

  • As it's an asymmetrical game, imho real balancing depends on reducing complexity (you can not balance a game with 500 variables (read: Perks, Addons, Items) that somehow depend on each other or do have synergies).

It means to either remove things from the game that extremly skew the favor into one direction, or to make things like perks/items/addons much weaker (as we've already seen). By doing that, you remove depth and "drama" from the game. Ultimately, this means that the game will become a lot more shallow, hence more boring.

So if you want the game to become more balanced, you have to accept that it's highly likely that it will also become more boring.

And while I'm pro on balancing, the drama is what makes the game so "fun and interesting".

Not going to comment on other points.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

It's what they say after the game. The non-stop complaining about EVERYTHING.

Too many survivors lack game awareness. They lack the ability to see that the killer has no option but to do some of the things they do. Like 99% of the time I do something scummy it's because I was forced to do it. I don't want to play scummy, I will outright ignore survivors I've hooked already if I'm not forced to go after them. But I will also do what I have to do to win. I'm not just going to be a pushover for them to bully.

Most of the time I get angry at the game, not the player. BS hits through pallets. Getting a skill check right when you let go of the gen. I'm not blaming the killer if I die. Only if they play excessively scummy when it's not necessary do I get a little annoying with the player. But even then, I never send nasty messages. I just vent by saying "this guys sucks, F him" to myself and my friends, then move on.

Devs really REALLY need to do something about the way survivors treat killers. I main survivor, I know how it feels. Trust me. But at the same time I rarely get mad at the killer for doing what they do because I understand they HAVE TO do that. It sucks when it happens, but majority of the time the survivors brought it on themselves.

So you don't like people that are complaining about issues, yet here you are complaining about issues.

People play games for recreational reasons, have fun, free their mind by doing something else. If people aren't having fun, it's obvious that they will raise their voice. But the real issue is not the people that are complaining about issues, it's that those issues exist in the first place.

Also, not sure about your reasoning. Jeez, one could use your logic and apply it to the real world: the criminal HAD to do it, you just lack the ability to see that they had no option but to do some of the things they did ...

Pretty sure you'd convince every jury with that.

  • @ausanimal said:

If by "consistent" you mean consistently boring, consistently repetitive and completely and consistently disorienting, yes, then I agree it's the most consistent map. And I'm not even going to mention the dead ends. But those attributes seem to be a well established pattern for indoor maps in DBD, which is why I'm hoping that there won't be any more indoor maps.

I was one of those people but only because i played DbD like it was a full time job 8+ hours daily to be sure i hit 70 before the holidays.

We also had a week or two where we gained levels in the rift before it even released/started.

Its unrealistic for most people to do this and obviously leads to major burnout. I quit DbD for weeks after doing that.

That's the point nobody actually talks about. Most people got a head start because of that technical hiccup, where you got about 1 week of XP added to your Rift Tier. Next time everybody will start at Tier 0. No more head start.

Good luck getting to Tier 70 with 1 hour of playtime per day and Rift Challenges that give you only 3 Rift Fragments.

While we're at it, we should also raise our voices so that the Exposed Status Effect times out, when someone gets hooked. Just to be fair. You know. Balance and all that.

Ormond is one of the maps, where nearly all loops are see through. And there are no deadzones. And the map is big. And there's a really strong main building. It's the second worst map for killer in the game imo. Blood Lodge is worse.

And even then, stats don't confirm that:

    Untitled Image

Ormand does not have see-through jungle gyms. There are see-through loops. but you're over exaggerating. The map is not big compared to most other maps, and there are even bigger maps. There's usally one safe pallet in the main building upstairs. It depends on RNG if there's a good vault downstairs (the sales counter). But I guess, even that it too strong, right?

    grafik.png

  • So you found an efficient way to use two Perks, if the stars align and all those pre-conditions are met? I'm pretty sure something simlar exists on other maps as well. But it's just too much RNG too make use of it.

  • While you're not completely wrong, I do appreciate a tested patch, so that I won't lose my (small) progress in level 3.

  • The Return (Rift Fragments) on Investment (Sweat & Time) of most challenges is just

    RIDICULOUS

And only 21 more days until we get the next batch of Ridiculousness.

I guess there's just one thing you can do, just smile.

  • On paper it sounds like Breakout is one of those high risk, low reward Perks.

    • You need to stay near the killer, and will possibly get spotted and hit early (Perk Radius is 6m!). It's contrary to what you should do (that is, keep your distance).
    • You're not doing your objective if you follow the killer to a hook.
    • Even if the survivor that was carried to the hook wiggles free, you (and that survivor) still might be in a dead zone with no vaults or pallets.

Let's see if it's really that useful. Highly doubt it. More so, I don't think it will become a new meta Perk. But I need to use it (for a few days), to see if it really works.

That's why I wish there was something in the lobby, telling the killer how many swf people are in there....

I have stopped counting how many times I got tunneled to death and mori'd, because a killer thought he's going against a full strong swf team, while I only played solo or with one friend.

It's frustrating and some killers even apologised in the chat after realizing they assumed wrong.

An indicator in the lobby would not only help the killer prepare, but also help the survivors not to go against the strongest builds and "sweatiest" killers when playing solo.

That would only amplify already existing issues that need to be ironed out (sort of the good old band-aid fixes we've been seeing and will see in the future).

    • Addons should not be that powerful, for neither role. If they were not that powerfull, you'd not need to be afraid a killer might think you're any SWF when you're not (because, according to you, the will bring the "good stuff" if they think you're SWF). Also, you should not have to rely on peoples "goodwill" (to not bring the "good stuff") in order to have a fair chance at winning a game.
    • Mori's heavily skew the favor of the trial towards the killer, often times making hatch the only option for at least 1 survivor to escape. You basically take one player away that could work on gens, or unhook somebody else. If the mori occurs early, and assuming that the average game takes like 12 minutes, you might rob the team of 8-10 minutes a player could help the team with doing gens and other tasks (imagine the imbalance and people actually comparing it with the effect of DS).

The ranking/emblem system is what should be looked at. I've got the feeling that as a survivor you can still rank up too easily and too fast. That shouldn't be the case. Making sure that people play at their appropriate ranks means that there's more consistency in what kind of SWF-strength and also Solo-strength you can expect as a killer, and you can adjust accordingly.

To cut a long story short: I'm against an SWF indicator. Fix the ranking/emblem system for survivors (not to be confused with matchmaking) and it'll be all good. Also, fix ridiculous strong addons.
