Wait, wait, that's strange.
Isn't the narrative that every match is against a literal bully team (you know, the teams that go after killers) in this game? I'm surprised.
Didn't we have countless discussions about the toxicity of t-bagging, flashlight clicking and pointing? This is baffling. Almost as if these discussions were over-exaggerated.

Just because it's an asymmetrical game does not mean you can't use metrics to try and measure skill and then match players without a big skillgap. It just isn't as easy as in a symmetrical game. Currently "skill" is measured by the outcome of a trial, instead of taking the plenty events into consideration that happen during a trial, that's where changes to skill measurement could begin (which then would be utilized by SBMM).

This is really incoherent rant because it operates entirely on the assumption survivors give because they are entitled and that entitlement is from them being wrong about game balance. Which is putting the bolts before the cart before the horse. It's a circular reasoning fallacy.
Why survivors give up can be pretty varied and inconsistent. Mostly just because what players find fun or frustrating will change greatly from each individual player and can even change from day to day. 1 night you might not mind being the first person in chase and going down early because you were in an unsafe area when the chase began. 1 night you might have had a terrible day at work and this situation is just too frustrating for you to want to continue playing. I'm not saying entitlement doesn't influence a give up, just that it's incorrect to assume it has such a strong influence on giving up to that it can be blamed entirely. Take 100 different players who all gave up because they were first chase and you'll get 100 different reasons why they did so.THANK YOU. Exactly my thoughts. The whole video is a ranty, yapping amalgamation.
Video Title: Survivor Entitlement is Reaching a Boiling Point (nice hyperbole btw., if there is a "Boiling Point" who defines where that "Boiling Point" is? A Youtuber?)
Video at 10.12: "I would say probably not even half of them are entitled. Most of them are just fine."
Interesting how ‘Survivor Entitlement is Reaching a Boiling Point’ somehow becomes "most of them are just fine" 10 minutes in.
Btw. are there official stats on Survivor Entitlement? Just asking where JS got that data from (I assume he would never make claims based on anecdotal evidence, right?). Thaaaanks!

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m officially at the point where that threat doesn’t mean anything anymore because it’s been pulled out so often.
Let’s flip that around shall we? We can throw these changes away if they remove Blight, Nurse, and Ghoul from the game - sound fair? I personally like playing them sometimes myself but if it’ll stop the constant killer complaining then I suppose I could live with it.
The funny part is, it's not actually a threat. People who say "from now on there's only going to be nurses and blights" do not realize what that implies (yes, they think it's a threat, but it's really not).
It would imply that we would have a lot more statistics about nurses and blights, and if they outperform the general killer population AND are vastly over-represented in the stats, they will be "adjusted".
Simple as.
But those people … that's another story.

Hi friend, maybe I should've clarified this, but I wasn't saying the downvotes were specifically hateful. I was talking about the specific context of the post I made prior that was hated on. If you read the whole post I made, you would've seen I was on board with keeping downvotes but making them public.
But you exactly proved my point that people will be mean just for the sake of it so thanks ig? Not a redditor… never have been. Just passionate about DBD and trying to remain positive in a really difficult community to be positive in apparently…
Hi friend, I did indeed read that, and that's why I said, downvotes aren't hate.
and it got VASTLY downvoted. I just don't understand the hate just for hates sake…
You got downvotes, and you associated them with hate, that's why you literally used the word "hate" after "VASTLY downvoted" (and I can also find occurrences of the word "hate" in your reply to me: "hateful", "hated on"). I think it's pretty clear. If things have no relation, we don't put them next to each other. If things actually have a relation, we put them back to back. It's a simple linguistic concept.
And just to make it crystal clear, I'm not arguing for or against downvotes with you. This is about you seemingly wanting to associate downvotes with hate. Votes express agreement or disagreement, not love or hate. Hate, that's just an interpretation, and I don't share that interpretation, even if it's just for the specific context of a post.
But you exactly proved my point that people will be mean just for the sake of it so thanks ig?
Also, would you care to explain how I "proved" your "point that people will be mean just for the sake of it"? Please quote the part where I was "mean". I only wrote one sentence anyway, so that should be very easy.

It's actually quite hard to always see just negative things, unless that's the personal modus operandi. So my recommendation would be, try not to always see "hate" in everything. It's unhealthy.

But back to your problem: how would you fix that? It sounds annoying with such teammates, but i see no way to fix that.

We could say the same for your interpretation. I'd also refer to the fact that I'm not the only one saying this, as there have been a fair few forum veterans who were opposed to downvotes from the moment they were reintroduced as a "test".
As for the upvotes being meaningless, I might not even disagree with that as a concept, tbh. Though it must be said that a community manager stated that they tend to see upvote counts as a method to gauge what the current hot topics are among the community.
The thing is that downvotes do that in a negative, and frankly rather lazy manner, whereas upvotes do it in a positive manner, that also encourage posters to make well-thought out posts.
Furthermore, when someone agrees… I'm not sure what you would expect someone to add? If you fully agree with someone, it's pointless to just repeat their, well points. If you don't agree, you need to say why. And not just click a button.
We could say the same for your interpretation.
My "interpretation" is an ironic take on yours
I'd also refer to the fact that I'm not the only one saying this, as there have been a fair few forum veterans who were opposed to downvotes from the moment they were reintroduced as a "test".
Sorry, but I'm not impressed by a "some other people also said what I said" argument. Also what is a forum veteran? Is that a person that basically lives here, but just has a couple hundred hours ingame?
The thing is that downvotes do that in a negative, and frankly rather lazy manner, whereas upvotes do it in a positive manner, that also encourage posters to make well-thought out posts.
Just statements, no explanations.
- Why do downvotes "do that in a negative, and frankly rather lazy manner"?
- What is negative about a sign of disagreement?
- Why is it "lazy"?
- Why are upvotes doing "it in a positive manner"?
- Why do upvotes "also encourage posters to make well-thought out posts"?
Furthermore, when someone agrees… I'm not sure what you would expect someone to add? If you fully agree with someone, it's pointless to just repeat their, well points.
What if one agrees just partially? What if people upvote posts just based on who made the post? You're assuming that everyone behaves like yourself, which is a bold assumption. And btw. you could just reply and say "fully agree", but almost nobody does that (compared to how many upvotes some comments have).

Did people like the bird, or the statement? We can't know it. But I already explained this on page 1.
If you don't agree, you need to say why. And not just click a button.
Who made that rule? Where can I read it? Is this in the forum rules? People are just making up arbitrary rules and expect others to follow them. Where is this attitude coming from?

We almost forgot the elephant in the room: one does not remove "negativity" by removing a downvote button. That's not how it works. There are reasons why people do not agree, and they should be able to (even if you think they should not). There could be underlying issues that make people downvote and those would need to be addressed and solved.
That's all well and good, but the vast majority of the time, the downvote is used as a mere "I don't like this" button. No one's saying people can't disagree on things, that's why we have a forum to begin with. The thing is that because of the downvote button, people stop feeling compelled to share why they don't like this.
The thing is that because of the downvote button, people stop feeling compelled to share why they don't like this.
You say that as if it were a fact, when in reality it's just an interpretation. Your interpretation.
Also, if we apply that logic, that same logic, to upvotes, should we ask why someone upvotes? The thing is that because of the upvote button, people stop feeling compelled to share why they like this.
-
I don't understand the need for people to have dramatic exits, I just can't grasp the concept. Nevertheless I wish you all the best.
I find it frightening that people are demanding a person should single-handedly disable downvotes. It shows that some people have a strange worldview, where whatever a vocal minority seems to have decided is immediately carried out with the stroke of a pen (spoiler: nothing has been decided).
It's awkward, the mindset of people trying to remove a way to express for OTHER PEOPLE how they feel about a topic or a statement. People seem to use the argument that if you downvote, you're obliged to explain why you downvoted. Why? Who made that rule? Is this a chapter in the Upvoters Handbook for Downvoters? Nobody seems to expect an explanation on an upvote. Kinda strange if you think about it, you could like something but for a completely different reason (again: which nobody asks for, but when it's a downvote, then it's asked for). Or maybe you only agree partially. Maybe you just like the style of a post. Doesn't matter, right? For upvotes, there are different "rules". Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Ok ok ok, but anyway, when can we remove downvotes?
Take this comment as an example:
@GentlemanFridge said:
The downvotes should never have returned.
That said, take care.
Did people upvote because they like the "The downvotes should never have returned" comment or because they just like the bird picture? It's not clear. Simple as that. Ok ok ok, but anyway, when can we remove downvotes?Upvotes can be as ambiguous as downvotes. A fact nobody wants to see or mention. Enough with the facts, let's bash downvotes. Let's call for their removal. dOwnvoteS aRE juST promOTing ToxIciTY ANd nEGATivIty AnYwaY.
We almost forgot the elephant in the room: one does not remove "negativity" by removing a downvote button. That's not how it works. There are reasons why people do not agree, and they should be able to (even if you think they should not). There could be underlying issues that make people downvote and those would need to be addressed and solved. Applying your own logic, you'd literally be removing the symptom instead of the root cause. But apparently, that's a big thing in today's society, which is: make the symptom invisible so we don't even have to acknowledge that there is a root cause. Ok ok ok, but anyway, when can we remove downvotes? Seriously when?
Downvotes should never have been removed to begin with. I appreciate upvotes and downvotes. I consider both as interaction.
So you have a great day. And by the way, you can always just downvote this response. After all, it's your right (for now), and I would never even try to take that away from you. Despite the fact that some people want to take it away from me and other likeminded people.

It is annoying but these people don't seem to understand the changes are not there YET but ultimately they will be there, in some form or another.
The worse the problem is, the more severe the actions BHVR will be forced to take.
Certain content creators etc who are encouraging this are ultimately doing a disservice to the killers who think this is a smart way to play. Best to do all you can to learn to not tunnel as your only method to get wins, or you're going to have a real hard time when changes inevitably go to live matches.
"in some form or another", you're accusing people of being unable to comprehend the situation (as if you would comprehend it), and IN THE SAME SENTENCE you're weakening that whole statement with a "in some form or another" (you simply don't know what's coming, just be honest).
The fact is, the changes proposed by BHVR on the PTB are not arriving as presented. That is final, and no "Deboonker" can change it. Whatever BHVR is cooking up is completely unknown, number tweaks, removal of mechanics. Nobody knows, and that includes you. So please, don't be that Deboonker.

this entire community whines about everything. Killers and survivors. Hence the OP’s post whining survivors never get anything🙄
Show me the fiery outrage from streamers and YouTubers over any of those Survivor nerfs listed above.
Now compare that to the sob symphony that erupted over the latest change proposal.
Yeah. Exactly. It’s practically the same thing, right? Ok, now snap back to reality.I already wrote this in another discussion (which of course was already deleted), so I'll just leave that here:
Long before the PTB even released, DBD streamers and Youtubers were already whipping up massive negativity around the patch. They weren’t just sharing opinions. The aim was clear: to get viewers and peers riled up against the changes, ultimately provoking the very reaction we’re now seeing from BHVR.
I’m not shocked. Politics has trained me to recognize this kind of theater. But watching it unfold in a video game community? That’s both unsettling and depressingly hilarious. Let’s call it what it is: propaganda. And apparently BHVR will have to start factoring in this sort of performative outrage even more than they already do.
Here’s the kicker: PC players with massive followings shouldn’t get to skew the developers’ decisions. They just represent a tiny, vocal minority. Platforms excluded from the PTB? Completely ignored, stripped of any chance to test or give feedback. Yet somehow, the loudest, most performative voices end up shaping the narrative and possibly even the patch itself.
Summary:
Both sides complain: True
Both sides complain in the same way: Nope -
That is a strategy used by various content creators. They are now making videos where they talk sensationally about the planned changes in order to get their viewers to believe that the changes are bad for them. So, the sentiment is being built up against the changes.
This is basically "manufacturing consent" at work, but scaled down to the influencer level, pushing their own agenda.

I agree fully. Though the item should have limited charges, its not fair to hide yourself for so long infinitely with only a minute cooldown on average.
It's not infinite. The max. time of a trial is restricted (not infinite), so the vial usage in a trial can never be infinite, even if there's no small number in the HUD or a charge bar (like with other items).
If you think fog vial usage is infinite, then you probably also believe that you can earn infinite money through compound interest.
Somehow I'm really not surprised to see the same talking point popping up again and again.

This could be handled in a much more user-friendly way.
The best solution would be to avoid any game server crashes entirely. The next best option would be to automatically award players whatever they earned. However, there’s another (more practical) approach:
If the game server crashes (which can technically be detected), the system could "calculate" the number of BPs for each player as compensation and add them to each player's BP wallet, or send a message to each player via the inbox to claim their points.
Formula:
In-game Seconds (from the start of the trial until the crash) × Magic Number (maybe 30-40?) × Multiplier(s) (Offerings & Queue) -

So far I was only able to get 3 door jumpscares while playing as Springtrap, and they were all in the first three days after the chapter release. After that I wasn't able to get a single more. I enter the doors and don't see a single yellow door aura, people are simply not using the doors most of the time so they aren't under the risk of getting grabbed.
Dredge has a similar mechanic, but at least his power makes so survivors NEED to touch lockers in order to properly counter him. That doesn't happen with Springtrap. What's the point of a mechanic with a whole cool animation of its own if you never see it, since even making the interaction that allows for it to happen is nothing but a mistake?
Maybe you can find some answers in the linked thread, there were some very "creative" answers from people that claimed that using the mechanics were so beneficial:

And the most important question: what makes stalking the killer with cameras worth it, instead of sitting at a gen and progressing the game towards an escape?

- Teleportation or Dash
- Killer Instinct (without Addons)

dbd is a game based of slasher movies, you are not supposed to fight against the killer as if you werein a call of duty game, but sure, probably some day a survivor will bring a gun to the game, but it will have limited ammo and just give a stun or slow to the killer, because the entity controls it
And yet, there's a perk that (according to it's description) allows you to "Stab at your aggressor in an attempt to escape".

@Solis355 said:
hey new here just wanted to share a opinion but would it be cooler to have maybe weapons like in the chest? I feel survivors have limited objects while killers have all these advantages. It’s still a fun game just an opinion
- Weapons in a game are just items that can be used to trigger something, maybe an effect or a debuff
- A pallet is an environmental object/item that can be used to trigger something, e.g. stun the killer (if timed correctly)
- A flashlight is an item that can be used to trigger something, e.g. blind the killer
People are overreacting when they hear the word "weapon". You can see it by their reactions and the use of DBD-Buzzwords:
- "bullying"
- "break the game's core identity"
- "shift the balance"
Yet they forget the simple logic above.
So to accommodate for the lack of understanding and common sense in most of the DBD community, you should make a step towards them. Because they are your audience. Help them see your vision in a way so even they will be able to understand it.
How about: let's think about adding another defensive item to the game
Imagine the in-game flashlight would look like a pistol, and it would be called a light-weapon and instead of a bright whitish effect it would be a red laser like effect (you know, like in movies). It would literally be the same thing, but the discussion would look like the yapping above.

It's not like there will be less generators, right?

Yeah, the Coldwind-Maps got destroyed in various degrees. Some even before they added the new Tiles, e.g. Rancid Abattoir was really week before already. Cowshed was fine after the first Nerf, the Map was one of the most survivor-sided Maps in the game and after the general changes to the layouts, it was fair.
But adding those really unsafe Tiles on top of it was just too much. Those are Tiles where you NEED a stun in order to get value out of the Pallet, if the Killer is respecting it, you will get hit, no matter what. And IMO it was a big mistake to replace good and strong Tiles (or even completely fair tiles like T/L-Walls) with those new Tiles at a 1 to 1 basis.
If they want to add more unsafe Tiles and less safe ones - sure. But those should not weight the same amount like Jungle Gyms for example. IMO to each of the new Tiles they added, they should add another somewhat unsafe Pallet nearby which can be used.
They really should work on map generation and their "loop money" system (if there is anything like that at all).

Flip-Flopping is a good description, not just of the map situation, but all aspects of the game. Going from one extreme to the other, like overnerfed to overbuffed or the other way around. Yeah, I get that. Thanks. I just care for those people as well. Even if a warning only gets a few people's attention with photosensitivty so they don't play him. That's doing a lot more. It's also unfortunate we have a bug that forces this risk onto players until it's fixed. Like the last time. But I appreciate your reasoning on why they have to keep him enabled.
I can not understand that way of thinking. Being affected by photosensitive epilepsy and playing a game is already a risk, because in any case there can be a situation that causes flashing lights or other triggers.
In that sense even using a PC is a risk. Have you ever reconnected your Display (Port) Cable, and seen the flickering and artifacts on the screen? (btw. it can also happen if the cable is not properly seated). Have you ever experienced a GPU issue that caused some Visual Bugs, Display Lock ups and other things that caused flickering and/or funny colored artifacts on the screen? Yes, it can happen, and it happens.
There are so many things that seldomly go wrong, but they still can go wrong when you use technology and that can cause flickering and artifacts on the screen. Yet there are people that deliberately and knowingly get themselves into that danger zone.
If people take that risk, they already made a conscious decision to accept the potential outcome.

Of course you would be comfortable with 5 or 6, but have you ever thought about the people that need to deal with the zombies?
Also: having so many zombies in a trial would require an adjustment of balance, like a reliable and sustainable way for survivors to get rid zombies (kind of like the use of pallets, but sustainable, so it can not be just pallets anymore).
Overall: sounds like a game mode, but not something for vanilla DBD.

Well, matches can be more than just mindless gen-rushing.
Many who play are also doing challenges, which may require you to hide in the terror radius for XX seconds (Explains the duck and crouch or urban evasion), open chests (mostly survivor daily rituals, where you need to escape with a new item), unhook safely (often multiple unhooks), or cleansing totems (some challenges and even some perks require totems).
And, doing more stuff nets you more points. More points = more levels, more items and all of that. Not sure what you're argument is, but …
- Prioritizing the main objective which the game was designed around is anything but mindless
- I'm well aware that there's an in-game thing called challenges. Yet challenges can and should never be a justification to deliberately throw trials and as a result make the game miserable for other players.
Nobody want's to remove the "secondary" aspects from the game, but if there's a certain group of people that doesn't understand the detriment of their actions (challenges/inexperienced/trolling) on the rest of the team, then they just belong in a different "bracket" of players and should not be let loose on the general population of players.
And this leads us back to proper MMR/SBMM

SoloQ can only be saved with a proper MMR. There are players that queue up for a trial, but once they are in a trial they simply don't seem to play DBD.
Instead they play duck-and-cover-simulator, totem-cleansing-simulator, open-all-chests-simulator, unhook-simulator or urban-evasion-simulator
First and foremost it's the people that have a major impact on a trial, and to a lesser degree the tools they have at their disposal (which doesn't mean this could not be improved as well).
