this is only the case with me and borrowed time it's permanently in my loadout at this point

Yeah there are so many times a survivor gets slugged and rehooked right after getting unhooked so that is definitely an important one too. I try to make sure at least one person in my SWF is running it for that reason. πŸ˜…

  • They are reworking keys along with the mori to my knowledge. As for the toxic players they exist on almost every game. As for console optimization I admit that console has issues. Fixing bugs, killers, and perks doesn't make money like releasing new one does though :/

Its not about ease of playing. Its about learning mechanics. Freddy and doc both have ways of making chases easier. A few games as doc and you don't have to worry about windows or pallets. And snare Freddy is brainless.

That's the whole point. Get good with legion and almost all other killers get easier to play. Except nurse. Nothing but hacking makes her easier!

I disagree as someone whose a Legion main. If you play to much Legion you get used to having everyone injured in chase. Also running iridescent button and enduring you get used to an easy pallet counter that you don't get with other killers...

i'd just like to say that im probably one of the handful of people on the planet that still main hillbilly and play him skillfully

please stop saying "oh i never overheat, its not even noticeable"

if youre playing billy effectively and using your chainsaw, you will overheat at least once in almost everygame without the yellow overheat addon.

just to clarify, i never m1 unless the survivor is already injured, which is the most optimal and fun way to play billy. please dont try to say you never overheat if you only use your saw for map control anyways.

secondly, even if he actually did never overheat, it still is so unneccesary and just stupid. the visual design changes are still terrible, and he now has like 3 addons that even do slightly anything and arent just gimmicks.

hillbilly is unfun to play now for no reason, and it will be like that for the rest of time. its sad, but dont try to stomp on billys grave and say nothings changed.

The overheat was nonexistent in 4.1.1 so in 4.1.2 they added a sneaky hot fix that brought it back. So depending on who you are talking to or been watching they may have not played Billy since 4.1.1

  • @Chaoutzu said:

Can we come up with some kind of implementation that somehow deters killers from tunneling? From a survivor standpoint, you have to run a pretty limited selection of perks. There are no addons that give survivors the edge like there are for killers, and that's not up for debate.

I'm a rank 4 survivor, and for the past 2 weeks, over 90% of my games have a killer that camps hooked survivors, ruining the game for at least one person. I don't want to flame anyone, but I think something should be done. Unless you bring a full party of survivors, you have an EXTREMELY small chance of getting a decent amount of points. I brought bps to a match, 2 games ago. I was the first one found, and we went up against a billy. I lost him, we still had 4 gens to do, and he found a Claudette. Hooked her, then when she got unhooked, she was instantly downed and the other survivor nearby was ignored. The killer then just ran around the hook while I did gens, and the other 2 saved her. My brother was the one who unhooked her, and the billy was ignoring him just to get the claudette on the death hook. So, the killer got an INSANE amount of points for camping and tunneling Claudette. I believe we escaped, and got no one got more points than the billy with one kill. One kill is all he got, and somehow walked out of that match with 7k more points than the highest survivor.

Can we please stop rewarding killers for this behavior? Maybe a buff to gen speeds if the killer stays within a certain radius of the hooked survivor? Diminished returns on points for re-hooking within a certain time, that way killers can still re-hook, but aren't rewarded for it? I mean, a killer can facecamp a survivor, and if the other survivors aren't in a party and communicating, 1 or 2 others are going to try to save them. If they don't, then one person gets to watch the killer look at them all game till the entity comes down.

Isn't that what DS and BT are for, as for camping the killer gets penalized. You'd know that if you ever played killer since the game depips you for it...

  • Old Legion was better for new players in my opinion since he was easy to get hits with even if he was non lethal.

In the current meta I'd say Freddy is the easiest killer for new players. He has high mobility with his teleport as well as good anti loop mechanics and his small stature throws even good survivors off. πŸ˜…

When it comes to looping I suggest running no perks and most importantly knowing when to throw the pallet down. The only way I can give you like a full run down of what I know is in like a party chat on xboxnor discord.

Why would you wanna run no perks, I feel like perks like Windows of Opportunity, Spine Chill, Resilience, Iron Will would really help with juking the killer and looping them πŸ€”

    Title.

It would shake the meta and make game more interesing and not stale.

Chapters make the devs money though so they usually prefer that over any substantial reworks 😬

  • Object of Obsession doesn't even work on all killers anymore. Its far from OP. Although if your the wrong killer and you have someone who is great at this game and toxic RIP 😬

Recently I played around with a couple of perks and since I don’t really know much about them I just got a perk called NOED. My first match I got a 3/4 and was wondering if using it was toxic, since much of the community seems to think so. Then again survivor will be survivors.

Don't worry what this community thinks. This community can't make its mind up on anything. Ask yourself though if YOU think NOED is toxic. If you find it toxic you can unequip it and if not you can keep it because at the end of the day its you who has to play the match.

Although eventually when you get better perks and get better at the game overall I'd ditch NOED. Since you seem new though I'd say its a great starter perk. :)

  • @Carlosylu said:

No, not at all, if you're using an end game build it's great, if you just use it to secure kills cause you can't do nothing in early or mid game you're a noob, if you obliterate survivors and you use NOED for end game too you're just a deuchebag.

BTW, they can always do totems

Winning endgame with NOED is still winning. I had an endgame build with Myers with NOED where the team got all 5 gens done. Then I slugged them all and got a 4k. People just get salty over endgame wins because they were so close to escaping and they didn't πŸ˜†

Apparently Monstrous Shrine is bugged on the PTB so that it increases your chance of kobe'ing instead of decreasing it.

I'd honestly love a perk like that for killer. Would be great for a meme build along with a speed limiter πŸ˜‚

  • @fordragos said:

Lol how stupid do you think we are? A killer main that wants people to stop hating on NOED so when devs see one positive post about it then they wont dont do anything about it??

You have changed NOTHING with all this fake information of yours without posting screenshots of at least some of the matches against these supposedly 'rank 1 killers' that you went against.

Yes, I am beating a dead horse but I will mention that me and including other people will continue to complain about NOED time to time and the Devs WILL change it at some point in the future. You will NOT change that course of action.

So enjoy noed you baby killer main but know that it will DEFINITELY be changed at some point in the future.

Someone is salty because they lost a game to NOED πŸ˜‚

NOED ain't even that good of a perk. Your basically handicapping yourself by running 3 perks all game. Also very rarely can you snowball from it unless the team is overly altruistic. Mostly just gets you one hook for the most part.

A better alternative to NOED is easily Rancor. Not only do you get a Bitter Murmur like effect but you can mori the obsession at the end which is so fun πŸ˜‚

That being said I think NOED is a must for this game. Wastes good survivors time with totems which slows down gen speeds which are hard as killer to deal with already. Also helps new killers who get bullied the entire game get some well deserved payback.

Put it this way, Its a good crutch perk until you get good as killer :)

  • I enjoy an OoO user as Legion because I can chain my feral frenzy off of them and find the hidden blendettes!

  • Lmao, I was going to say I am sick of all these spirit posts. I'd love to see a Dev's response on whether they plan to nerf her again or not though :/

This is entirely wrong. If you have a killer and 4 survivors at equal skill rate, the survivors will always. Between good looping, pallets and second chance perks it would be easy.

If that were the case I am sure Otz would have never got 50 wins in a row with Legion and Hag. I hate to say this and I am saying this as a killer main...get good!

  • As someone who has a fair amount of hours on both, here is my opinion.

    SWF>Killer>Solo

All things being equal, a great SWF will beat a great killer, All things being equal, a great killer will beat great survivors.

Feel free to disagree but with over 200 hours on this game and the forums, that has been my experience.

Also I'd like to say these advantages are slight and this isn't including multiple factors. Overall this game is decently balanced I'd say. πŸ˜…

That is the risk you have when running totem perks OP Alternatively the totem can be in a really good spot that survivors can never find and be overpowered. I reccomend you don't use totem perks if you want consistency in your games.

  • @Desh said:

I mean... why not both? I never had to choose between those 2. I usually choose between Franklin's and Light Born. Light Born is my fave.

Lmao I forgot to add Franklin's in the poll xD, yeah a build with those 3 perks would be quite the troll and add in insidious and camp their items the for some extra salt xD

  • @doitagain_ said:

This is a no brainer. Lightborn brings so much peace of mind while versing 2+ flashlights. Infectious fright is just going to alert you survivors are nearby but then you have to kill more time fending them off when you could’ve just hooked the survivor.

The comments mentioning β€œlook at a wall” or β€œlook down” aren’t helpful. I’ve been blinded looking directly at walls before from an angle.

Yeah I feel that, or they get downed in an open area with no walls as their are plenty of times I been flashlighted and felt their was nothing I could do.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1579018#Comment_1579018

My problem is with how many second chances survivors get, it gets old.

Say they're all running dh, ds, unbreakable. Four chances with ds, four chances with unbreakable, and eight chances with dh. So that's sixteen right there, then you add in Kobe chances, then you add in the hatch, then you add in pallet saves, flashlight saves, and head on saves.

So you're talking 20 or more second chances per game, in a game where killer isnt allowed to make a single mistake. You can see why the devs aren't on the Christmas list of most killer mains.

4% is insignificant, but when you work your butt off to end the game, just to have the rng give them yet another chance, it can be infuriating.

I admit all those second chance perks are annoying. The game is heavily balanced around them. Games I play that have survivors with no meta perks tend to go by much more quickly then ones that do.

Also killers mistakes are much more punished because they are 100% of the team while survivors are only 25% so as a survivor you only make a 1/4th the impact you do as killer.

Killers also have two second chance things they can use.

NOED: I personally think their are better perks but there definitely times I use this one and snowball games I should have lost.

Ebony Mori: This counters decisive strike among other things. Also can turn a losing game into a winning game and if your winning with one equipped you don't even need to use it. Also doesn't take up a perk slot like NOED.

  • Its only a 4% chance, honestly I'd say your odds are better with that then one of them having unbreakable πŸ˜†

  • @SentinelCaptain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1574900#Comment_1574900

As much as I would love to do that, I have to admit that the chain hit instadowns would probably over power Legion. You could slug a whole team in a matter of seconds. Unbreakable or Tenacity would be the only counters.

What'd be your alternative for deep wound then because Legion's power would be really weak if it could only injure and didn't apply deep wound. It'd become useless if the whole team was injured apart from moving across the map which'd make him much less fun :/

  • Dev's already said they are keeping the gate as is OP, if the killer really wants they can open the gates themselves :/

  • I'd love Legion without Deep Wound so I could use my power to down a survivor instead of just injure them. That'd make legion arguably as good as nurse and spirit which I am all for!

  • I'd be for making Borrowed Time and Corrupt basekit but no way in hell would I be for it if the perk was DS, you literally couldn't have picked a stronger survivor perk. However if they brought old ruin back I am sure killers wouldn't mind. :)

  • Clown is only good with his pinky finger add on in my opinion as that fixes his lethality as a killer needs either strong mobility or lethality to be viable and the clown has either. That's not to say he cannot end chases quickly and get 4ks but other killers can do it with less effort and its near impossible to do on a large map against red rank SWF 😬

  • One game I watched the hook from a distance to give the survivors a chance. They escaped and called me trash for not facecamping. Sometimes they are just asking for it. xD

  • He's not fun to go against and a good deathslinger is near impossible to beat. He's a weak killer though whose got no map pressure. So I'd say a rework is more in order.

  • @ZtarShot said:

Now, instead of one of those "let's list the things we love about blank," I'm starting a list of everything we hate. To put all the anger and spite from the GG EZ Claudettes and facecamping Bubba's at 5 gens.

Write a long paragraph about all 68 survivor perks or a short statement talking about a certain killer with two certain perks.

So to start us off, fake pallets. I hate them. They aren't op, but the feeling of "I'm going to make it to the pallet" only for it to explode into a pool of blood makes me wanna die

Lmao I love dream pallets, it feels so good to get a hit off of them when playing as Freddy. Especially if its a survivor who has been screwing with you the whole game 🀣

Big mood. I used to be a rank 1 killer but I stopped playing for over a year and I thought maybe I'd be able to take some time to figure out how to play the game again before being thrown in with high rank players. But nah rank apparently means nothing.

My reccomendation as someone who plays killer is to wait for console players. This isn't always the case but they generally struggle more in chases because they use a controller. Not to mention they aren't as often SWF. Not a perfect fix but hopefully it'll helps. πŸ˜…

Does it even really count if I spent the whole time wishing that I hadn't? I'd rather wait and play someone that's actually my rank rather than a red rank SWF4 stack with all meta perks in every match. I cannot stress this enough, I have had to face sweaty red rank players every single match since rank 13.

This. I'm surprised more people dont just run KO, given all the complaining about SWFs. You'd be surprised how many teams rely on those auras, or dont know how to accurately describe where they are over comms.

It sucks that it only applies to basic attacks though and I don't know what I'd replace in my build for it πŸ€”

The whole point of Iron Will is to remove your injured sounds. Stridor overrides that? BS. What other situation does this scenario even really possibly pertain to? Spirit ABUSES this technicality. It's way too easy to win as Spirit to begin with, then you nullify her one counter perk?

Who at BHVR has a rager for her so f'n hard?

They already have nerfed her a few times and she's still OP. Also if you wanna remove stridor because it counters iron will, we should also remove spine chill because it counters monitor and abuse. Why have perks in the game to begin with if they aren't supposed to counter anything. πŸ€”

Ah, the old "jUsT GeT BeTtEr" tactic. Why didn't killers just think of that sooner! πŸ€ͺ

πŸ˜‚ I guess you got a fair point. I probably should have been more specific. To get better I reccomend watching Otzdarva or some other fog whisperer as they can make strong competitive builds that'll massively improve your game. Then I'd just try to grind as many hours as possible. You'll make mistakes and you'll learn from them.

I will also say I play purple ranks. This game is very unbalanced against red ranks SWF. This is all assuming you aren't going against a SWF.

  • I like it on Freddy and Legion but not Clown because he's slow. So I agree that this perk does focus a lot on mobility and varies by your killer mains speed.

No. You factually have no idea how bad 20% chance actually is. But at least it's not ######### compared to 4%.

I think they should rework slippery meat to do what you said instead of giving you extra attempts. This is to powerful for basekit but as a perk I'd argue it'd be weaker then decisive strike or unbreakable :)

  • @dollidahlia said:

There are 2 options, the 2nd option is not guaranteed too work tho.

1.) Buff basically all the killers to match SWF's power. If the killer doesn't have mobility they would need to be buffed through another means

    Or option 3

    3.) Get good

    Nurse-Midwich

2 survivors die, perkless, very weak. Through the whole match I only find a good kate. 1 gen left

Slug Kate 1 time. nothing for 1 minute. Then she gets picked up, then gets away somehow, and so I go to protect gens. Nothing, all regressed.

Slug her another time. Nothing for 2+ minutes straight, meanwhile I try to find the closed hatch but i can't, until she's near to bleed out.

At that point I didn't want her to die and the other survivor who plays super safe doing nothing getting the hatch. So i pick her up, let her wiggle out, and she goes straight to a Zarina hiding a the locker near the hatch. I Down her, hook her, joke with kate in the meanwhile, I give her the hatch as a reward for being good. Then Zarina reports me, but the match theorically was already won for me, so is this bannable? Because Kate dying or bleeding out would have meant 3 kills total, which is a still a win for me.

Edit: a win following Dbd's win condition, indicated in the game tutorials, which is sacrificing survivors to the entity or killing them

I honestly think all three of you were in the wrong

You: Holding the game hostage by not hooking the Kate and extending the match longer then it needed to be.

Kate: For working with the killer by leading you to her teammate.

Zarina: Holding the game hostage by hiding instead of going for save or doing objectives.

Just my opinion though I could be wrong :/

  • Not in its current state because it's to situational :(

I always get stressed when I play killer, and end up depipping from my own stress, which leads to more stress, and it's an endless cycle. I wish I could just turn off the ranking system and play without effecting it.

Honestly I reccomend playing at a tier where you feel comfortable. If anything I'd say depiping is a good thing for three reasons.

    1. You get nothing for ranking up to 1, all it gives is bragging rights and even then most dbd players could careless

    2. You'll get less bloodpoints as its much harder to chase red rank survivors over green rank ones assuming the red ranks weren't boosted.

    3. You can take more risks at lower ranks. Things like not looking in the survivors direction to not trigger spine chill take skill and your going to fail those things many times. But when you finally do master new things it should make piping easier

Hope this helped and believe me I been there.

    Wrong!

Haunted Grounds need two totems to activate so at most you could only do it 3 times. Two if you equip another totem like Ruin so its actually pretty balanced in my opinion. Also it removes things like Devour Hope stacks so it wouldn't be OP in that regard either. :)
