Struggle phase alone lasts a full minute. And you shouldn't try to kobe either way.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1091957#Comment_1091957
I don't see why.
Camping is valid. Waste the killers time by staying
Well, yes, but not everyone thinks that way. Just a thought.

Just gotta see if people die in less than 1 minute on their first hook.
If they do, doesn't count.
If they don't, it's fine.
Obviously creating an exception for the last survivor in the match, since he just dies.
Can proximity to the killer, their movement and camera facing also be considered then?

This comment got me thinking and honestly, I didn't even really consider solo queue survivors while making this post. (I mostly play in groups, and I think most ppl do too)
I think it would suck if they did this for solo queuers. So actually, I kind of changed my mind lol.
Even in SWF, it gives such fantastoc information. Someone calling over coms "SPINE CHILL" tells me a lot.
I now know where the killer is, where they're heading and who they're targeting.
For solo-queue, I also highly recommend combining it with Bond to see if someone has broken chase.
-
It's situational.Dependi on what happens is if I ditch or not.
If I can't get you without stickig MY neck out, then stiff shot. No point in both of us dying.
-
Spine Chill actually makes me bolder, as I have a clue on what's happening. If it goes bold, I move on, if it flashes, I'm fine.
Also, immediately after Rank Reset, I was hit wih 2 Ghostfaces, a M&A Hag and a Pig in that order, so the detection is really worth it.

Too much altruism and too little objectives is very common from my experience. Altruism emblems are competitive, so many survivors rush saves before their teammates can.
Altruism is the only SHARED emblem.
@toxicnancymain how much damage did you deal out in the game? More to the point, was it enoughfor iridescent Altruism?

I don't agree with making Blindness shut off box auras. There will definitely be maps where that is a death sentence with the right add-ons.
To be fair though, there is ONE perk that applies Blindness, and that is also a Hex.
I did specify that Face Mask will not affect the box auras for that specific reason.
Not that anyone plays Third Seal anyway.
-
Matchmaking's busted, people are starting to lean more into one-shots which hurt their emblems, more killers are relying on tunnelling and camping, so survivors are adapting to run perks and strategies that completely counter those aspects. Borrowed Time body-block comes to mind.
Survivors are also more likely to live if they complete their objective quickly. They REALLY don't like to have a drawn out game.
-
Wall. Of. Text.
Please use some spaces in between smaller points like I'm doing here, as it saves reader's eyes and sanity.
As for your point of "Not newbie friendly", it's a case of "well, yeah." This is actually a game that you are going to have to devote time and practice in. Not everyone can just buy Street Fighter and suddenly compete in pro-tournaments.
A decent way to think of this is kind of, and I normally despise the analogy for almost all of it's uses, like Dark Souls. You bang your head against a brick wall until it cracks, take a break, recover from your concussion, and BANG IT AGAIN. That wall will break eventually.
If you are also stuck in the Brown/Low-Yellow ranks, then you are also going to run into the problem of the Toxic Trolls. Basically a myriad of Wraiths who hardcore camp and other killers who simply don't care and will seek to ruin your day. Once you get past rank 15, they mostly stop. And you won't de-rank that low anyway.
The tutorials teach you the MECHANICS of the game, not the other 75% of the game that is resource management, mind-games, stealth, running killers or any other little tech. The menu tutorials do give you a small idea though, but a lot of this game is trial and error.
In an age of hand-holding and linear pathing or mindless, hashed out multiplayer "sequals" it's actually refreshing to have a game that goes "Here's everything, figure it out yourself". Like a jigsaw puzzle.
The game changes drastically once you get out of the lower ranks. You just have to practice, experiment and find your preferred playstyle.

In the beta apparantly even the devs noticed:
"A slowdown ability is useless if it slows you down too."
Clown is weak because he has only weak utitly.( Which is arguably easily dodged too, if this were a pro discussion.)
Aside from big fixes , there are easy theoretical ways to help clown.
- Just tweak some variables (nnumbers) in his kit. Survivor slow, gas spread speed, maximum duration, maximum aoe or even how long it lingers etc.
- 1bottle/xseconds channeled reload instead of all bottles reloaded after that long casting time.
They could also tweak the ability in itself. If a weaker version of the gas lingered in a bigger aoe after the main cloud dispersed, it might be useable to create deadzones for survivors to avoid.
Or setting traps... might be too close to freddy.
This isn't a discussion regarding Survivor or Killer skill, but the fact that the AoE is so easily avoidable is something to consider. It doesn't take a Rank 6 to learn how to avoid the large gassed area. Rank 16 maybe.

No, you haven't faced a good Nurse if you think Billy is harder to counter than a good Nurse.
Nice try with the whole ignoring of context game. Your attempts to be edgy and witty have failed, literally every time.
😎
Look. In terms of Aus Xbox players, then quite simply, yes I have versed "good" Nurses. I do not play on PC so I'll probably simply never verse what PC players call a Good Nurse.

No, really, you haven't faced an actual good Nurse. You may think you have, but you haven't. Especially if you have trouble vs. Billy over her.
Under no circumstances have you faced a good Nurse.
Does a high purple P3, who slaughtered all of us before we got 2 generators done, without slugging, camping or tunnelling count? Oh, high purple shortly after rank-reset. And on console.
Console meta is pretty different when it comes to killer choice. Hillbilly tends to plague the game like Nurse has on PC. Since the Ruin rework and matchmaking kerfuffle, I've found that there is a much greater variety in the killers used.

@NullEXE said:
Ew you just told everyone how to counter me. You're absolutlely right though. Clowns main weakness is he has nothing above his toxins, compared to the likes of Doctor and Freddy.
However he does have one thing, a throwable power like Huntress. Which is the Killer I actually compare Clown most to.
Huntress has the ability to throw hatchets, and if they connect with the survivor it deals damage, unlike Clown where if his toxin connects with anything - it causes an area of effect that makes it difficult to see, or move in. Both Unique in their own way, and makes them good at one thing in their own way - creating a unique mind game at loops. With the huntress you have to force obsticles between yourself and her ability to throw hatchets. Clown you have to try and predict his movements with impared vision and mobility. To me these pretty much makes the killers balanced to one another.
Now why is it that Huntress is a higher tier killer used by many top red rank players as a main? Well two reasons;
- Huntress has no limitation on the range of her hatchet. She can fire a hatchet across the entire trial if she wanted so long as there wasn't an obsticle in the way or the ceiling (thanks Red Forest)
- She is faster at reloading her throwable power.
I don't care about the distance I can throw bottles - though it would be awesome if I could aim high and hit that generator across the map and get a scare out of the survivors trying to finish it - like the Huntress can.
What I care about is the fact that I can't reload my bottles in time for chases, I can't reload my bottles in time to reach generators, and I can't reload my bottles in time to have enough for long chases.
That is where - in my opinion - what is stopping Clown from being a strong Killer.
How do you remedy this?
Just remove the damn slow to his movement when he replenish's his toxin. Like god damn, why is that even a thing? What a stupid idea. "Oh here is an intimidating clown, oh so scary - MOVING SLOWER THAN A ######### SNAIL WHILE HE TRIES TO RESTORE 4 ######### BOTTLES"
Anyways. Yeah remove the slow, and Clown is balanced. There you go.
There are a LOT of slows that have got to go. I'm no balance expert, but there are so many minor changes that could be done, but I don't think that he'll move out of the lower tiers, though.

Punishing them for making a bad play is different to picking someone and saying "Imma delete YOU now, k?"
-
I've played her a couple of times on console, and she's very difficult. Since you're on PS4, though, I would actually recommend taking advantage of the fact that we get free extra accounts.
Make a new account to go and have some fun with learning new killers and using underrated/underpowered perks. Just have some fun with it and practice while not jeopardising your main account's rank.

Because his power is very counterable by someone who has decent game knowledge. The only time he becomes a bit too much is when instasaw is involved. But, he's getting an add on update soon, so that should be resolved.
I have decent game knowledge, and I find Nurse WAY easier to counter than Hillbilly.
EDIT: not saying it's not possible, just a bit harder than other killers, and you need a lot more practice, but varies from person to person.
-
Three within a chase, infinite outside of the chase.
-
There should be penalties for leaving a match. I get that there are internet issues, but seriously, if you're having major issues, then you shouldn't be playing online multiplayer games in general.
While I do see it as more of a it should be limited to [LEAVE MATCH] option, I get that there is also the issue of yanking out internet cords.
If it was a case of [LEAVE MATCH] is always a penalty, but so many network issues should start hitting you with penalties, then it'd be perfect.

How is Hillbilly not OP with a one hit down map traversal power with hardly any cool down? I see a lot of players claiming he is balanced because he has everything he needs to win a game, but no other killer has that so I don't see that as balanced if he is the only killer has has everything in a pool of killers that have limitations.
Because he apparently has counters. I get that there are ways of avoiding his chainsaw, but it's not exactly the same as a basic attack.
For me though, it's that it's all in one button, and a lack of penalties. "OH NO, I hit a rock, now it's a FIVE second cooldown instead of a THREE second one!" But that's not what this thread is about.
This is that the dev's "golden boy" is currently top 3 in terms of raw power, top 5 at a stretch.

I assume because the killer hooked you first. Because 2 gens got done in the time it takes to get 3 pallets out of you. Which on most maps only uses up a very small amount of the maps pallets.
Because the game balance is meant for rank 18 survivors that crouch behind rocks on the edge of the map. Which I'm convinced is the skill level of a lot of the devs that make balance decisions.
A decent survivor can run a killer on shack for 3 window vaults without being hit and go to a nearby pallet to break bloodlust. NOT A TALENTED SURVIVOR a decent survivor. They can then run you in the closest jungle gym through that window twice before dropping the pallet and go back to shack. thats already 2 gens without a hit. That survivor literally still has the shack pallet, an overpowered main building, and a jungle gym and a safe pallet IN EVERY DIRECTION with 3 gens to go and no hits.
The state of imbalance causes killers to tunnel people out of the game.
Umbra streamed a game the other night to prove a point and her squad of friends had the doors open in 4 minutes flat. Killer got 1 hook. Killer brought a mori. He was rank 2, he was watching the stream. Does he need to git gud?
Can we finally admit that this game was designed for players with less than 20 hours of playing time? That survivor defenses are designed for rank 18s. Which I'm convinced is the average developer rank.
I'm just gonna say it, the devs don't play this game enough to understand the game. Would they have designed Lery's, the game, and Hawkins if they were players. I can't say those maps are universally hated, but they are hated by more of the playerbase than the amount of the player base that used Hex Ruin or self care. They are terrible, terrible maps. They play terrible for killer and survivor. Its like the art director designed the maps and it was 100% about the aesthetics.
That's optimised survivors, and I'd argue that the killer was splitting their attention. Some of the devs do actually play the game, though, such as Peanits.
As of late though, I've seen more complaints about the corn maps than the indoor ones. Hawkins is better than the Game. Haven't played enough of new Lery's to get an opinion yet. I do like that it is darker than the original version.
-
Isn't there an option to change that?
I play on console too, but unless I hate it, I always use the default on just about every game.

And what is full sweat in dbd? Bringing meta perks? Mindgaming? Being good? I can easily tell what messing around is but it's hard to pinpoint a person being sweaty in dbd to me.
Sweat for me tends to lean more into how aggressive someone is in a chase. It's kind of just a feeling that you get too. You generally can feel when someone's trying a little too hard to get you.
I'm an aggressive killer and sometimes swing a little too early, but there is a difference. A minute one, but a difference still.

What if I said survivor objective, all the pallets and loops is too powerful for how EZ they are?
There's a very bad balance problem if most Spirits and Nurses are having camp and tunnel to get kills. They require a lot more effort and determination when compared to survivors. Giving really good survivors 12 chances to live is not a walk in the park..
I said this after Nurse was nerfed: survivors can have a party on discord, laugh, little focus on the objective, whilst the Nurse is sweating and playing like navy seals with her cooldown and still lose. That's not even remotely fair.
Billy don't need to be touched, not even his addons. Keep him fun.
I don't find Hillbilly's or Nurse's kill-bot playstyle all that fun actually. I prefer the unseen predator approach of my Pig gameplay. Hell, I even find using Billy's HAMMER more fun than his damn chainsaw.
His charge add-ons need looking at in the same way that Legion's blades did. I'm fine with all his other add-ons.
I don't want Hillbilly changed either. I want improvements to the rest of the roster.

Or perhaps the killer is facing overpowered tiles, toxic survivors and 4990/5000 pallets remaining on the map. Tunneling one out is a valid strategy for your sanity.
Ok, but if I show ZERO toxicity in all of my games, then why should I get targeted in this manner? Is it toxic if I can blend into a rock, or run you around for 2 generators, because you can't beat me in a chase?

Mainly to end it as soon as possible. I normally just wanted the game over so i would kill everyone as soon as possible.
Or maybe you thought they were tryhard because their was one less player, maybe the killer just played like they normally would and didnt treat the lack of a survivor any different than if there was 4.
It still sucked. I didn't go full sweat in those games, unless they flashlighted and teabagged at pallets.
-
Don't make RSN2 base.
Roar at the start of the dash.
Faster crouch walk, similar or in line with Ghostface.
Make Blindness outside of the Face Mask add-on affect boxes, so that Third Seal would be a useful tech with Pig.

You sound so entitled. If I hook someone and see other survivors in the area, I'm going to stay put. It's their choice to be overly altruistic. Just because it's not a free escape doesn't mean I'm ruining someone's game. Leaving the hook knowing an unhook is seconds away ruins my game.
You want to know what I do in this situation? Target the person who unhooks them for being overly altruistic.

Definitely smells like bait.
You know I'm bad with words. It's a HILLBILLY problem because the "centre of balance" is in the top 3 in terms of power. A problem that can be fixed in one of two ways, and one that will inflame the community.

You can not have it the way you want, you want to talk about an issue that you have with billy and that is fine but survivor skill has to be taken into account. I am telling you, you can improve. Ask for help how to and there are more than enough people willing to help you.
As survivor my most hated killer to go against was trapper. You would find me ranting, yelling and so on about those ######### traps but you know I dealt with it and stopped to run from one trap into the next (its been quite some time).
Do you think other people didnt face problems in the game? Skill floor exists for both sides, my first billy game was horrible, I dropped the killler and went back to bubba. Guess what I improved as player over time with all killers and picked him up again and learned how to play and got gud.
I didn't rant about him at all.
I analysed, probably over-analysed and shared my findings, gave examples and reasoning behind my thoughts, and even a small, simple solution to a symptomatic problem within the game.
I'll complain about Hag and her camping traps until the dying days of the game, but when I do The Hag Problem, I'm going to write it from a neutral perspective, or as much of one as I can. Like I did with this one.

As for my Hag and Shape, well.... 😏
But anyway, there are so many squabbling posts out here: “I think this”. “Well I think you’re dumb”. “That’s cuz you’re a toxic ____ main”.
I think it’s refreshing to see one with actual thought, reasoning, and evidence. Not to mention proper grammar and spelling!
We need more like you bud. Kudos!
Thanks, mate.
I've tried to be as impartial as I can, play both sides with some regularity, when matchmaking works as intended, and try to leave my bias at the door. Where it belongs.
Hopefully I can do more of these without getting the same level of hate as I am on this one. I'm caught between Pig, Ghostface/Wraith or Bubba as my next one. Clown was a lot more well received, but not many people seem to be as interested.

It really shouldn't because though it's a bad strategy (camping) sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do as killer to secure a kill, especially tunneling. Tunneling isnt bad at all cause you are still giving the survivor a chance to run away and if their teammates are good at gens they will escape
No it isn't? Tunnelling off hook doesn't "give you a chance" in the sense that targeting the unhooker does.
And why should I have to singularly suffer because the killer doesn't have the stones to work for a kill?

Survivors, stop trying to break him out of stealth. If you see ghosty, treat him like Myers and run the hell away from him. Don't stand 2 feet from him trying to reveal and then get mad when he one shots you.
Well, the main problem for GF is actually the PLAYER BASE of the killer. His detection mechanic is completely broken though. If and when I do the GF Problem, it'll all be in there. I'll probably also do it as a special double-issue, since Wraith shares the same core problem, just without a DLC pricetag.

You realize you can apply that exact same button comment to survivors, correct?
At the end of the day, survivor can be hard, but killer does take more actual skill to play. You can't deny it simply because there are more aspects playing as killer. Billy is one of the killers who does take more actual skill to be very good with. And at the end of the day, if you go down to his saw, it is 95% of the time your misplay.
I don't know why you think you should be able to make egregious errors and be away scott free with it against a killer who has a power meant to capitalize on your errors. It's like complaining about Doctor being able to stop loops.
Survivor and Killer are basically playing two separate games. I don't think that comparing the two on THAT side of things is fair.

Earlier in the thread you confirmed, it is a matchmaking problem as people are in ranks where they do not belong. Now you honestly come back to me with "these survivors are not bad cause they are rank 1"?
Seriously?
Okay so let me educate you about your non existant knowledge on hillbilly. A normal charge takes 2.53 seconds. Otz used a spark plug which reduces the chargetime to 2.48 seconds. And he used "Vegetable Oil" to decrease the cooldown of the chainsaw.
You do not even know what instasaw on billy actually means do you? The lowest you can get it to afaik is 1.9 seconds which still is quite some time compared to "insta". What is insta? A railgun is insta and billy is far from it.
So after educating you a little bit in dbd, you can face the facts. Facts are otz was constantly in a chase, pressured them the whole time, won every chase in less than 30seconds. Yet here you are but they didn't win so billy op, when people play this bad they should lose much much harder and not even get close to a win. Because they belong in yellow ranks.
You have literally no clue what you even talk about. Nobody believes that you have thousands of hours in this game or that you are good. You contradict yourself constantly, sometimes ranking is bad, then again when it fits your narrative it comes down to "oh these people cant be bad they are rank1".
Yes the "bad perks", discordance is a great perk on billy, bbq as well, bitter murmur is meh, and zenshin just not mine. These survivors died because they were terrible at everything but holding m1. They still almost got the win, stop complaining about otz, the survivors were horrible. Potato trash who only differ from the usual garbage you find in solo q in the regard that they at least do gens and against every other killer aside from maybe nurse/oni they wouldve walked away with a win as they are not that mobile.
Do you really want dbd to become 100% escape rate for braindead monkeys? I don't!
Again stop with the lies, you dont need 4 good survivors to win against a billy. All you need to know is how to loop and how not to die in 30sec.
This thread has NOTHING to do with survivor skill! This has NOTHING to do with perks!
This has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING that you have ever mentioned on here!
I have stated time and time again that IF Billy is to be the centre of balance, then more than half the killers in the game need major buffs. Stop twisting my words and going off topic, or find some actual survivor bait to harass.

What's smart about holding 2 buttons to win? How is that skilled? How am I not meant to feel cheated?
How are camping and tunnelling considered toxic by a wide part of the community, but not the devs?
I'm normally on their side for most things, but even they can be wrong.

And Hag.
She's a mechanically simpleish and mentally challenging killer.
If you do more than "Place trap at hook. Stay within range of trap. Down unhooked survivor. Get free kill." then yes. Until all Hags stop placing traps within 5m of a hook, then sure. I can see your point.

Yes but it doesn't matter how you percieve it. You just use the word so it sounds awful, make it look bad or anything. A killer using his power is not something bad. You can even 360 his whole saw but hey w/e all you have to do is pay attention.
JUST GO. GET OFF MY THREAD AND DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN. I AM SICK TO DEATH OF ALL THE ABUSE AND HARASSMENT YOU HAVE BROUGH TO THIS THREAD.
You have brought NOTHING to the conversation at hand. You do nkt deserve to be here. I have tried being reasonable, and now I've had enough.
My opinion and views are different get over it.

He moved from lower B tier to upper B tier. That's about it.
He's playable in all ranks now. And is WAY better than his original itteration.

But not because that Hillbilly is skilled. A pro in any sport will make the game look easy when viewed from the sidelines.
This mentality is why killers are being balanced around brown ranks. Nerfing viable killers, even their good addons, so they are incapable of dealing with genrush teams.
You know who was balanced around brown ranks?
Doctor.
Look at him now. One of thr better killers in the game. Survivor bias indeed.
