  • Funny thing is that if you want to rank up, Legion is actually a fantastic killer to rank up with and get Chaser pips. You know, 28 stab wounds and all.

With the current ranking system, if you want to play this type of killer, then unfortunately you have to cop this type of penalty.

  • @Mc_Harty said:

Chaser cucks a lot of killers. It should be altered so killers like billy, plague, leatherface and other one shot type powers don't get punished for using their power.

I disagree. You're doing HALF the chase, therefore you get HALF the emblem.

  • We need stronger killers so we don't have another Clown problem.

Freddy is FINE where he is, especially since his kit as easily accessable counterplay. Also, he is also essentially a base M1 killer with no true mobility. Yes, he can teleport to generators, but that's only UNPOWERED generators, and has a very long cooldown.

No joke, play against him differently. Play more stealth and go for an alarm clock whenever you can. Each killer has to be faced with a different method.

  • Xbox is just worse than everyone else for dedicated servers.

I've got a full thread aboutit in the Dedicated Servers Feedback section.

Same problems as you. Had red ping? Perfect game still. Dedicated server green ping? 60-80? Stabbed by Myers IN the building as my head is at the halfway point of the asylum.

Always hit behind the killer during a 360. Always hit at pallets.

I cannot play the game on Xbox and will refuse to until the issue is fixed.

    I like how

    - After demonstrating where you stand in the ranking with Hillbilly with no perks or addons (with proof), people are still doubting your skill to 4k without perks to begin with.

    - The solipsistic killer mains kept pointing to Nurse and Spirit as if they had to do with anything in this thread.

    - You have a valid thread with really valid points, yet people misunderstood your main point.

It's honestly amazing at this point.

Well, the Spirit and Nurse thing is partly because I did specifically point them and say "THEY are harder to play, THEY should be more powerful" which is a statement I still stand by.

I do play with perks though, but they're not exactly strong perks and lower levels, which also reflect my killer rank. I'm in green normally because I find killer stressful, especially being a Pig main. My survivor experiences more than make up for that area, though.

As for misunderstanding my points, though, they probably only read the first paragraph or two. Or just saw me saying that there's a problem with Hillbilly's strength and went into Defensive Killer Overreact mode.

You can disagree all you want, really; but it literally breaks your narrative that the skill floor is that terribly low, when it's proven to not be true because there are bad Hillbilly players. If the skill floor was that low, he'd be pick up and play. As it happens, it's not, and there are people who can't play Hillbilly. So again, all due respect, you are incorrect, and the 90% of people in this thread telling you the same thing are right.

Oh. Right. The other 90% who keep prattling about HIGH LEVEL GAMEPLAY when that's not what this is about.

There are always going to be players who are bad at a killer. I never said that you'll be a GOD with him after a few rounds.

I simply stated that he is very easy to pick up and learn. I said that in the ranks you want to learn a killer, once you get the basics, you will destroy people.

I also made a point of saying that as the "centre of balance" that every other killer is too weak. The "centre of balance" is in the community's TOP 3 for power. Out of 18.

This entire series is about underlying problems, that are tied to a specific killer. This has never been about the killer themselves and if people read it that way, this would be a happier thread.

But no, can't say anything negative about Hillbilly.

Let me ask you this, if I replaced the names of characters and powers with thr numbers of their release (Hillbilly = No. 3, Nurse = No. 4, Spirit = No. 8) you think people would have had the same reaction? You think that they would have said the same points trying to refute a different argument, one that wasn't presented? And if yes, doesn't that show a giant, glaring double standard within the community?

  • I'd like to see an actual cooldown for such an all-in-one ability, rather than a 3 second animation, or a 4 second animation for hitting something.

Insta-saw needs to be gutted though. It just ruins games.

As for the whole "perfect balance" thing, I would actually argue that Huntress is a better example. TydeTyme explained it very well in his Killer Tier List for 2.3.3

  • @McLightning said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1109387#Comment_1109387

If he had such a low skill floor, then there would be no bad Hillbilly players.

That kind of kills your whole narrative.

I disagree. Especially when this ENTIRE TIME I have said "compared to the top ranked killers".

Something that literally everyone who comments like you seem to forget, overlook or ignore

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1107591#Comment_1107591

Yeah no, it isn't an issue. He's been fine for 3 years, there's no need too chance what isn't broken. And it is misleading saying he has the lowest skill ceiling of the top tiers. There's simply no way he is less mechanical then Spirit, who you literally hold m2 and run at the enemy, you don't need too time it right or do proper curves with phasing.

Again, if you can't get too a loop against Billy then you deserve too be downed because you are out of posiition, and if you get out mind gamed that's on you, not Billy. He doesn't need changes because someone else can't loop him lol.

    Floor. Skill floor.

  • @Zoldyar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122084/the-hillbilly-problem

I wouldn’t say hibilly’s skill requirement is low by any means. You can tel from a good or bad hi billy just from how the play. For example, do they know when to use their chainsaw at the correct spot? Do they rely on m1 to get most of their kills? Can they go around the every map without collision first try (with no add ons). Hibilly does require skill to play. Comparing hibilly’s skill level to be lower than spirit who just requires good headphone, is a joke.

If there was one thing they would nerf about him is that he can’t just constantly use his power after 3 second cool down. Like it wouldn’t matter if you dodge him once because he would just be right back on you in less than 10 seconds.

This isn't about specific players, it's about the character's kit as a whole and the way that it is problematic to the game at large.

    Except for insta-saw.

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1107471#Comment_1107471

Then how is this a billy problem lol? What the problem you actually are addressing is that all other killers need buffs, but that doesn't effect billy in the slightest.

The post is incredibly misleading tbh because this has nothing too do with billy or his mechanical skill at all.

Really? The parts where I say that he has the lowest skill floor compared to all the high ranking killers is misleading?

The fact that he has mobility, destruction and an instant-down in one button with virtually no penalty or cooldown isn't a problem?

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1107434#Comment_1107434

So you're problem is that he's easy and strong? that's just silly.

Why don't people actually read my posts?

    That's sarcasm, by the way.

Fine. I'll word it a different way. He is too LOW RISK for the HIGH REWARD. The devs have said he is the centre of balance, the community says top 3. Every other killer is too weak and it is a problem.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1105939#Comment_1105939

No, thats not how balance works. You balance for the top level play always.

Yes, there are things that sometimes low level play needs to be taken into account for, but not the core game. For example, i'd argue that the ruin change was good. Against bad survivors, it was a nightmare to deal with. Against really good survivors, it didnt do much, because at top level play they always hit great skill checks and/or can find ruin in the first minute or 2.

This video explains it pretty well.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p42KtZOCw

You know who balances THEIR game around the highest level of play and had it backfire? Blizzard with Overwatch.

I said Purple because it is of a higher level of play than most players, and isn't patched entirely around exploiting wording on niche perks to make them a full meta.

Sometimes going for a bit more of a broader approach is better.

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

"No mechanical skill" I don't think you are playing billy lol.

1: His chainsaw is super precise, so you really can't pick him up and master him. He takes a long time too learn and master.

2: If a survivor runs out of a loop/infinite that isn't the billy's fault. You can't change a killer because the survivor played bad.

3: You can't say "Don't bring up infinite's/loops because you don't have access too them all the time" because if you aren't at a loop, you deserve the insta down because you are out of position. Loops are literally the best counter too billy and forces him too M1 unless he's a god and can mindgame you.

Sorry, but Billy is fine as is, he doesn't need changes, what he needs are good cosmetics that aren't joke cosmetics. Once you learn how too counter him he's not that bad too deal with, and if he is getting you out of loops then you need too position yourself better.

    Compared. To. Nurse. And. Spirit.

And the point isn't that he's OP, but that all the other killers are WAY TOO WEAK. If Legion and Hillbilly were swapped in strength, or strength perspective, this would be called The Legion Problem.

It's a symptomatic problem of the game that Hillbilly is both easy to play and so strong. Especially when referred to as the dev's "golden standard" of power.

I don't care what you use. You said you'd never come across "ANYONE" who used that build. I'm currently killer rank four and I see this build, maybe with one varying perk, literally dozens of times in a two hour play session.

Ok. Are you on PC, Xbox or PS4? Because, like I said, I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT BUILD ON XBOX. As well as never using a majority of it and still reaching red.

They can't be THAT good if a little Gen Gremlin Claudette can reach red.

You're either lying or just an anomaly. Those are all the most used survivor perks. And there's a reason. Despite your nonsensical nitpicking, these perks are all extremely powerful.

MY nonsensical nitpicking? I'm lying or an anomaly?

How am I an anomoly? Because I haven't played with that specific build? I've played against people with some of those perks, but not all of them. Then again, I don't grind for Rank 1. But I've played at red. And it's also Xbox. The only one of those perks I consistently use is DS and I do it as intended.

  • @CrassardStreams said:

"Can be built into a stealth killer" Sure bud, because every killer is balanced around a specific perk.

By that logic every stealth killer should be slower, which only one is, and the other only is in tier 1 or 2 of evil within.

Yeah, that slower stealth REALLY hurts. Like, people actually don't understand just how much.

No way, this guy can be built into a stealth killer and having a ranged stealth killer at 115% would be pretty OP.

From what ive seen, if you walk backwards while reeling them in, you suck them in at like twice the rate; and the guy I was watching was getting reel hits from pretty far distances using that method. There's also the add-on to make it take longer to break.

As for your "stealth killer" claim, by your logic, Spirit and Hag would both be stealth killers with one particular perk.

You people act like it takes weeks of play to critique something. Nothing major is going to change. It’ll take a couple hours of a release for anything new in a game to be compared to what’s already been there. It’s not that difficult lmao. Stop hopping on the “hE wAs jUsT rEleAsEd oN pTb” wagon.

People need time to learn natural counters and hidden techniques. You can't just pick up a character for less than 10 hours and say that you're an absolute authority on him.

  • @Skelemania said:

To the jabrone above me: 100% false.

Balancing for top level play is how you kill games. You make the entry barrier for new players too high, so they don't have fun when they start.

No new players = your game dies.

^ kind of a good point to consider.

    @Reinami said:

"Not every Survivor is a running god with map knowledge over every variation of the maps"

Doesn't matter, they should balance for top level play, not the lowest common denominator. if you don't balance for top level play then the game is inherently unbalanced and unfun.

I've said before that the ideal spot for balance is actually purple ranks, not red. Things like the Doctor rework are also important to consider as it can destroy the experience at lower ranks.

ALL ranks should be considered, not just red.

  • Most killers move at 4.6m/s or 115% of a killers running speed. Some run at 4.4m/s or 110%. This is so they can catch you.

Best thing to do is practice and learn how to use all of the windows, pallets and walls to avoid the killer.

There is also a heartbeat and music that play for most killers to tell you when they are all near. This is called their "Terror Radius". It's a good indication on how close the killer is until they run Hag or Spirit with Monitor and Abuse or play Michael Myers.

  • The Doctor 101:

"The Doctor" is known as a "Pressure" killer. His job is to ensure stress in survivors and a sense of paranoia with a large terror radius and the ability to negate certain physical actions.

Basically run until you don't hear a heartbeat.

The water would probably affect it, because things like that do mess with wifi signals. But your ping to a Sydney server should be great, based on your location. I know people in Brisbane with great ping. The only explanation I can think of is that consoles somehow have a harder time with it than PC. Maybe because the infrastructure is newer and they're still ironing out the kinks?

It only started raining again tonight. Seems to have let up unlike two weeks ago.

But lately, I've had a frigging FAN affect my games during the switch. I want to say it's a "we've just switched over" issue, but this is Microsoft we're talking about.

As I said in my comment, I'm in Sydney. One of the places I play at has NBN, the other doesn't, I get much the same ping at both. I am on PC, as I mentioned, so that might make a difference.

I'm in Gosford. We're under water again, btdubbs, so that might have something to do with it. I'm also on console if that has anything ti do with it.

Oddly enough most of my games ping has improved since dedicated servers, but 100 to 150 is still sucky.

Three cheers for Australia’s National Broadband Network, and the other problems such a massive continent presents. Hooray.

I'm also on NBN and I've had dips. Might just be a proximity to server thing.

I was fine on the East Coast. Yellow and red pings were still playable. Now with dedicated servers, it's only gotten worse. I've had more jumps than the average hurdles race and it's driving me crazy.

Never had terrible problems before, but now if I have a fan on in the same room, it completely screws my game.

6 second chances each without teamwork really, 2 heath states and 3 hook lives.

Tbh it's really hard to kill a survivor without playing dirty. And to get a 4k it's a non stop mistake less sweatfest.

2nd - broken half the time

3rd - limited time, conditional, once per game

4th - limited time, conditional, if abused requires MORE healing from whole survivor team (you know, a TRADE-OFF)

5th - small boost IF endgame triggers

6th - limited time, once per game, requires rare add-on and an item

    Noticing a trend here?

It's nothing against you personally, it's just every killer and their weapon have had this complaint. And besides, I haven't come across ANYONE who's run that specific build. And yes, I'm in red ranks, or was before reset.

Serious mode. No. There are suprisingly few SWF squads who are hit-squads and sometimes we play the way we do because of some killers playing the way they do. It is also just a less FRUSTRATING experience.

My squad is usually a duo or trio and we're all also trying to do all of our Archives while the other two are trying to race to red again and I don't care for it.

With matchmaking the way it is, rank also means even less now so we're all roughly on the same "level".

Buddy, that’s every game. What you’re acting like is you just want a hand out. When I play survivor, I cleanse at least 1 Totem a game. You can’t say you don’t walk past at least 1. The rest is out of your hands. The perk shouldn’t be built around 1 survivor because then multiply that by 4 and that’s how much more it favors one side than the other.

I want this perk to have more of a penalty to counterbalance it's currently overwhelming reward for it's little activation requirement, if THAT'S asking for a handout, then so's everyone asking for DS, BT, DH and Adren nerfs. Don't see you saying that to them now, hey?

    Here I go again.

I CAN'T ALWAYS FIND THEM. My encyclopedic knowledge of games basically extends to lore only. Not totem spawns, pallet placement or god-loop locations.

I wouldn't speak out if there wasn't a problem. This is the Hex: Ruin problem of "JuSt HiT gReAt SkIlLcHeCkS!" all over again. It's not possible to be 100% consistent.

That's one way to look at it. That is a very survivor slanted way to look at it. I don't think its a good idea for this game to take an even greater survivor bias than it has now.

I'm the same way for 99% of things, but then there's elements like NoED that punish me for not playing SWF and a specific anti-totem build. And SWF is constantly complained about.

  • @korean_zombie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1099193#Comment_1099193

All second chance perks "reward bad play". Why do you have an issue with NOED. You said yourself that you run self care. It clearly rewards bad play. Other than exhaustion perks, I can't think of a single survivor meta perk that doesn't reward bad play.

I run Self-Care because nobody will heal me!

When you play solo, it's a nessecary evil.

Half these survivor "second chance perks" also reward survivors for the KILLER being bad. Not the survivor. Yes, they are abusable, but normally that's called "high level gameplay". I'm going to call the double standard here. All the survivor ones have an offset for either side. NoED only has negatives for survivors, especially solo's.

  • @korean_zombie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1098673#Comment_1098673

NOED is a direct counter to the immerse playing style. You are a self proclaimed immerse player. Your opinion is based on self interest and not game balance. Your dislike of billy is also based on bias. The "you tunneled the injured survivor" comes from players like you that unhook 10 seconds later and crouch in bushes.

Billy is a fun killer. Fun to play as, fun to play against. The immerse player, you, hiding behind rocks and in bushes is not fun to play with or against. There should be more 1 shot abilities for when you get caught out, not less.

I'm not IMMERSED. When I play Claudette, it is STEALTH. Immersed sit in a corner avoiding the killer at all costs. Immersed don't do anything and wait for hatch. Immersed ruin games for others.

    I don't.

Every time I talk about my stealth game, I make a point of saying that I'm not an immersive. Why? Because there's a difference.

Even then, lately I have been playing as Yui and as a runner.

NoED is not a direct counter to immersed, it rewards bad play. Whispers, Infectious Fright and BBq & Chilli are all better examples of anti-immersion gameplay. Doc's ENTIRE CHARACTER is anti-immersion. Not one-tapping that runner you couldn't beat in a regular chase.

  • @Heartbound said:

It is a large map problem. Killers see it a lot more with low mobility killers during their generator patrols but survivors get hit by it when jigsaw traps come into play.

(Survivors move even slower than killers btw)

The game slowdown is a very good reason to like pig and I'm shocked you don't see more of her now that ruin is changed.

99% of the time I can get the trap off and it serves its intended purpose (to slow the game down) that 1% though...you remember it and it is a major feels bad man situation.

I like a lot about Pig. She's just my kind of fun. Unseen predator, ambush, highly complex piece if engineering.

Not many people play her either, so she's not common knowledge on how to counter. I dunno. Sometimes you just play a killer and it clicks.

  • @Heartbound said:

The pig main pretty much hit the nail on the head. The thing is the longer the match goes on, the more of an advantage the killer has so do you think the other survivors will just 99 a gen when you have a trap on your head?

    No.

So you have between 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 30 seconds to dash across the map, less if you didn't want to do it injured, and attempt to remove said trap.

During this time other events could happen. You could be required to unhook teammates or you may enter another chase with the pig. Its random if you pick the right box or not btw. The entire match just sprays rng all over the place.

I've also had a second trap put on me sometimes. There is no worse feeling in this game I swear.

Edit: pig helmets really really unfavorable for survivors on the bigger maps because of the amount of ground you have to cover while also avoiding the killer.

It's probably why I like playing Pig. I like extending the game as killer and taking my time SLOWLY dismantelling the enemy team. I don't have a problem I swear.

As for your trap problem, I've never seen that. It sounds rare and more like a large map problem.

1 … 52 53 54 55 56 … 70
