"When you place 5 traps at my feet when I'm hooked and all you do all game is hit me when the other guy sets off the traps, them yes. I going to call Hag's entire kit a camping kit."

That isn't at all what I'm talking about.

"It's part of the reason that I hate her so much. This sort of thing just happens too much for me to respect anyone who calls themselves a Hag Main."

Last time I saw this happen was months ago. Extremely rare unless a person was being toxic.

How does it not relate to what you said? They teleport from halfway across the map and hit me, because my teammate didn't crouchwalk, or is too close for me to to so safely. They teleport and hit me. I go down, they have tunnelled me.

Admittedly it's the other person who activated the traps, but still kind of close enough to your point.

I've also had ONE Hag from memory who didn't do this. It's a playerbase problem to me, but it might just be an Xbox thing.

Honestly I don't think he needs one, his current one is fine to me.

And with huntress, I see what you mean about her, and tyde too, but personally I think Billy is better because he's so much less map dependant (plus that was 2.3.3, we're coming up to 3.6.0 I believe, so it's a tad bit outdated)

Yeah, 2.3.3 was a while ago, but I don't remember Huntress ever receiving a change in that time and it doesn't diminish what he said about her.

When you have high mobility, destruction and an instant-down all in base kit with one button press, it seems far from balanced on paper at least.

hes viable as a killer but hes almost impossible to do badly with, you have to be SO bad at the game to lose people with his new shock ability, he doesnt have to take time to switch between treatment and punishment, and ya now you can revert back to tier 1 but it takes like 3 seconds to get someone to tier three so whats the point

You can literally do a similar thing with Hillbilly and people say that he's fine. In fact, you say anything bad about Hillbilly and you get attacked by every killer on the forums.

you go from 3-1 now, but i wrote this post before the rework. Now with the rework theres a whole load of new problems that make the doctor even more unfair than he was before lol

Funny. I actually prefer this newer Doctor for BOTH sides.

Old Doc was only good in lower ranks who didn't know how to work around him. Now he's actually viable at all levels.

  • Surveillance? Hell no!

Discordance, though, yes. Now that the playerbase has collectively come together and said that Discordance 1 is better than Discordance 3 because of the shorter timer, then yes.

  • Two kills is a nice middle ground. If the killer does their job better than the survivors, they get more than half. If they do worse, they get one or zero.

Haddonfield is actually mid-upper sized when compared to other maps. Combine that with Haddonfences, and that can take up a significant amount of time to traverse. If you're going to BS me and tell me the result is always the same on that map as Pig, I'm going to straight up say you're lying through your teeth. All you did was face a group of pepega's.

I said it was one game. It's actually pretty rare I have a truly bad game, but I don't push my killer rank.

People also have a really bad habit of DCing MORE against my Pig than any other killer, even though I obviously play fair.

My personal playstyle also preys more on solo-players than SWF, spreading damage and slowing the game to a crawl.

  • @Frankie said:

Slugging for the 4k is no more boring than maps being big enough for a generator to be done before you can walk, in a straight line, across the map as killer; but that doesn't count cause it's a survivor thing. We do what we have to do.

I've had two gens pop ln HADDONFIELD before I even saw a survivor. I still played normally, got two 2 DC's and a kill. Let the Kate go.

How many gens popped after I started hitting people? One. And I was playing Pig.

  • Humanity is just a terrible species.

People think that with the near total anonimity of the internet they can just be less pleasent to each other simply because they can get away with it. Just remember: You do you, but treat others as you wish to be treated.

In solo play, I'm in it for me first. I'll help the team where I can.

In SWF, I have more co-ordination and information, but my group comes first since there's not mormally more than 3 of us. It's nothing against randoms, but I know MY skill level and that of my team.

  • Pig's RBT Endgame changes, moving her roar to the start of the charge rather than the actual dash, increasing her terror radius from 28m to 32m.

Most of the changes I've come across do seem somewhat reasonable. It just seems like the fact that Pig has been a lower ranked killer since I've been playing and got yet another nerf does seem unreasonable.

  • I'm kind of over it.

If you're a survivor and you want to boop the snoot, then I get to boop back. Simple as that. I'm here to hunt you, to toy with you, not to be your plaything.

  • Well, I'm a big guy and I've been doing martial arts for 10 years, so I know exactly how to break someone if needed. I also have the uncanny ability to sneak up on people silently.

I'd say that I'd have a small-ish terror radius and the ability to afflict survivors with status effects while they're downed.

My weakness would be chases, since I don't have a chase power, or detection since I have no tracking.

  • I'll let them if they're near me, but I generally don't trust randoms.

My stealth build just has Self-Care or Botany/Medkit when I have medkits.

My runner build actually has Self-Care and Botany.

  • @Spectre13 said:

He's a dogshit Billy and most people only face camp or basement him.

I would agree, but they said "teachables included" and I'm fine with his perks. Maybe not Knockout though.

  • @Frankie said:

Indeed. I don't give hatch. I used to, but eh. I prefer just getting the 4k if I earn the 4k.

Cue the clicky clicky flashlight using survivors saying slugging for the 4k is "boring". Deal with it.

I don't clicky clicky and I find it boring and BS. Don't even enter a trial with items for 95% of my games.

  • Playing on a Trapper map. The one with the two-level storehouse. Playing an SWF match with my youngest brother in the other end of the house. Killer was Pig, my main and the killer that I know how to counter best. They chase me within a loop just outside of a generator on the side of the house opposite of the top opening. Loop them for a bit and a generator pops. Go around the house and the Pig pursues.

I 360 them ONCE the entire chase. They just DC there and then. We didn't stop laughing for 5 minutes.

This was in the age of old Ruin too.

  • I find that I am actually more likely to screw over people when I'm getting at the end of a long challenge since I have the "opposite effect" with my Archives challenges. I try to do them and I literally get the opposite thing happening for the entire duration of the challenge. My most recent example was the Jane's Poised Generator/Escape master challenge on The Game map against a Spirit. The other survivor was slugged and left as bait, so I let them bleed out. Tried healing them once and they were targeted again. I knew where hatch was before they got downed. Nothing against them, but I'm not sticking out my neck for a situation like that.

Normally, I'd try to save someone, but it's a situational thing. If it's a bad situation, I'm going to ditch you. One escape is better than no escapes.

As for the "kill by any means" challenges, I just play the game normally. I'm deliberately not a high-rank killer for several reasons. Challenges is one of them.

  • Killers like you are why perks like Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time are so mandatory these days by the sound of it.

They've become mandatory since the Ruin rework because of killers. They started slugging, camping and tunnelling more as a response to not being able to lean into a perk for the start of the game. Survivors started using perks that make you NOT camp/tunnel/slug as effectively.

People are following this meta because IT WORKS. Not because it's a trend. Change your tactics to make these not viable and just maybe these perks won't get used as much.

I think less of killers who run NoED, camp/tunnel/slug and generally just waste my time with poor games. We can all play this game. Nobody will come out on top.

No no oni is actually a monster on console you can do the 90 degree flicks!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1129821#Comment_1129821

Hmm thats a good idea bc not many players play hag on console, i almost never play vs her and when I do I usually tend to get destroyed by her bc she always catches me off gaurd and I never know when its safe to walk, run and when to crouch xD but i know to crouch at hook so yeah. Perk-wise i was thinking agitation because ive noticed a glaring weakness is when shes carrying to hook survs tend to activate your traps and this helps u spend less time carrying to hooks, save the best for last for the quick teleport 2 tap hits, monitor for the low tr, and corrupt to help setup the map. Do you play hag on console? Last i played her, her frame rate was absolute garbage when teleporting so i havent played her since.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1129825#Comment_1129825

You under estimate Oni my dude, he has decent built in tracking as well, yeah hes similar to billy but still hes scary!

Oh yeah been liking her recently here, people tend to underestimate you as huntress and get cocky and make mistakes then get destroyed lol its so fun. Tbh shes great.

I would agree with you there..survivors can hear the instant he hits someone, teleport, or even walks nearby, any decent swf group or coordinator survivors in general will instantly hop onto a gen immediately when hearing this, I mean its what I do when versing Demo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1129841#Comment_1129841

Shes tough, but good. Just map dependant and tougher on console of course. And im not too worried about deathslinger being a headache i just hope he gets a buff somewhere at least

I've versed a handful of Oni's and I've versed Hillbillies like PC players have pre-rework Nurse. Oni does seem good, but for a console player, I just see him as a worse Hillbilly.

I prefer Oni's aesthetic and overall power design, but I just don't see how Oni can compare. If you can pull of the flicks, then go for it though. I'd love to verse more Oni players.

And you're right about Demogorgon, except that I can also do all that as a solo player. He's a NOISY mf to say the least. If I'm playing my Claudette build as well, then simply put, you won't really be able to find me for an overwhelming majority of the game.

  • TBH, if you want to learn Oni you may as well just play Billy. You don't NEED to use his saw.

Huntress is harder on console, but if you've found a way to make her better for you, that's great. Huntress is underrated on console because of the difficulty to play her.

Demogorgon can do well, but he's high skill for low reward. Good killer, but there is the major problem of too many audio notifications.

Deathslinger could be good. Unfortunately we don't get access to the PTB to go and test out anything. We'll literally just have to wait until his release and purchase him in order to see just how good he is.

  • Killers at lower ranks, especially with the easy Wraith face-camp, with only smurfs knowing how to beat that style of play.

Survivors at higher ranks because they know how to utilize certain loops, items and perk combinations. As well as how to abuse certain mechanics like Borrowed Time and 99'd exit gates.

That's not to say that there's not toxic people in those scenarios on the other sides, but it's more of I find more cases within these sort of areas.

  • @orangegoblin said:

Lets leave the roar, getting jump scared by oinks is fun

Most Pigs are calling for it to be when the actual dash starts. Jumpscared still ensue, but there's less warning for survivors.

  • 4th perk Sprint Burst? On a default and dark Claudette?

I don't care what people say about Self-Care. It's actually ok. Especially when paired with Botany.

  • NOPE! I will continue to run Self-Care, Botany Knowledge and Spine Chill.

Or when I'm fed up of being tunnelled, I'll switch to my build with Balanced and Decisive.

  • Ghostface pretty much has his full movement in crouch, so I'd like to see them all match. The roar should be placed at the start of the dash too. Add-ons seem decent. Combat Straps are in a good place, though. Don't think that they need a change.

Amanda's Secret does seem a little too strong, though, since it is a guessing game for Survivors, and certain larger maps can mean instant death for a trapped test subject.

I'd like to see her terror radius also reduced to 28m from 32m. Not that any Pig worth their salted bacon uses any TR perks like Unnerving Presence.

  • This is going to sound kind of crazy, but let's have a full rework, Freddy style, but take inspiration from Deathslinger.

Let's ramp up the "edgy teen" factor and combine it with their power's berzerker mentality.

Make it so that you have a shorter timer, and about half the stun and cooldown. You hit a survivor, they get deep wounds, your power ends. You stab someone in Frenzy while they have deep wounds, they go down. This makes it strong, and more easily able to be balanced.

Now, before you ask, "Why don't you just play Deathslinger then? He has range!" Ok, then. Why don't you play Huntress over Nurse? Both require lethal aims. Deathslinger can reload and shoot faster than Legion can Feral Frenzy with this itteration, but Legion is faster and doesn't require precise aim.

This also fits more into the characterisation of The Legion, with them being these edgy teens who are in all likelyhood, going to lash out visciously and extenensively on one person, rathet than lashing out at a group. Or one at a time anyway.

  • As a proud member of the local fauna and flora alike, I appreciate the concern about the new birbs that are an introduced species. They are stealing my food, and my natural weapons are innefective against them. My traps are too large for them and they cannot actIvate generators. They also have the unnatural ability to detect me while I am resting within fauna and against comfy brown rocks.

As for the Jingle Dwight situation, while a majority of this rare creature are delightful and playful, I believe that some have been tainted by other parts of the surrounding habitants. Advising to add an exclusion to all who bring the accursed Flashlight or excessively teabag.

    - A concerned citizen

  • The community. We "adapt" but these adaptations don't actually help the game in the long run.

We get a change and it also seems like 75% of the forums are just calling it bad or demanding nerfs to the strongest thing after everything settles.

Hex: Ruin rework? Increase in tunnelling, camping and slugging. Survivors respond by running Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike and Unbreakable.

Nurse add-on rework? Spirit is next.

How about we play the game properly and as intended, then maybe, just MAYBE, we'll get the changes we need.

  • @Spectre13 said:

I love that the word "gambling" keeps popping up. Honestly where does player responsibility come into the equation. If people wanna spend real world money on cosmetics then all the more power to them. No one is being forced to buy loot boxes and they don't even contain useful in-game items. But if I really like a cosmetic I'd rather spend in-game currency I am already earning as I play to try and get it. Microtransactions are already rampant in the cosmetic section being forced to buy Auric cells. This loot box system would eliminate it and people would wanna play more to earn more to loot more. It's not that complicated.

You are paying for an UNKNOWN item, and there have been multiple debates from High Courts about if lootboxes, sorry, "surprise mechanics", are gambling or not. They have come to the conclusion that they are, so everybody is going to stick with that.

As for adding them into DbD, there's always the possibility of getting a cosmetic that you'll NEVER USE, just like in Overwatch. I'm not paying for a random chance, when I can already just outright buy the item as is. I can even deal with it being slightly more expensive to guarantee I get an item that I want.

  • I just get used to the default brightness and sensitivities of every game I play. Works for me.

Then again, I also have a well-lit room that I play in.

  • With smurfing being a thing, ranks will never matter. The only thing that really changes with rank is just how much of the "meta" is used in any one game.

  • Ace. Aura increase with NO AURA PERKS, luck that increases a percentage OF A PERCENTAGE and a niche item perk for searching chests, with random results.

His perks are just too unreliable and have never helped me in a game. Good thing I wasn't using them then.

  • I figured since I'm not banned, but still. When you've been locked twice because people don't like it when you fight back against them, you get a little defensive.

It's also like saying how spamming the Sportsmanship endorcement for thr extra XP and loot boxes in Overwatch is inflating statistics. There's not really that much of a way around it.

    @Dehitay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1121374#Comment_1121374

The problem with that is that camping is regularly defined as "not instantaneously disappearing from the map after hooking a survivor" by a significant number of survivors and genrushing is defined as "any game where the exit gates are powered" by a significant number of killers. Players can't really be trusted. It would have to be based on actual data. And if they were going to actually put resources into that, it would be far more intelligent to just put those resources into counterplay for genrushing, tunneling, camping, and excessively long chases.

That does sound like a community problem. Like a lot of the problems in the game. Thought that it might be somethi to consider since other advice isn't always applicable, such as "just gen-rush facecampers" since the ither guy just as to sit there and take it.

  • Actually seems decent on a hit & run style of gameplay. Question is though, does it lock off inactive perks, such as Decisive Strike or Deliverance? Ones that take a requirement before activating, as opposed to something like Spine Chill which is technically always active or something more permanent like Bond or Botany Knowledge?

  • Mikey loved dedicated servers when I was playing against him on Xbox. Able to hit me all the way from the top floor of the Asylum with that tiny kitchen knife after I was halfway through falling! Even stabbed me while I was behind him.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1121343#Comment_1121343

You could start by properly defining it. "Honor system" isn't meaningful by itself.

Well, it'd be similar to a respect thing. If you, say, get a "Props" at the end of the game, your rating goes up. If you play dirty by hardcore tunnelling, facecamping, hook-tech with Borrowed Time, teabag excessively to annoy other players or anything that does indeed really annoy the community at large, then you get a negative rating. The lower your rating, the more likely you are to be limited to playing with people within a certain threshold. Those who excessively play dirty and try to ruin games for others may even be pretty much locked into lobbies with like-minded people.

It'd act like a "Code of Conduct" Matchmaking, alongside the actual matchmaking. Rank matchmaking will still take priority, of course, but being a respectable individual will make it more likely for you to load into a game faster. You also cannot rate those who you are grouped up against with SWF, similar to Overwatch and their Endorsement system.

I admit that it's not perfect, but hey. If there's a way to help stop some of the most rage inducing strategies around, then it might be worth looking into. If you can think of a way to improve it, then let me know.

  • The main problem with Legion is their core power and core mechanic.

They rely on the same thing as Plague: survivors remaining injured to avoid their power. The difference is that survivors can heal against Legion without much concern. There's no simple "buffing" the Legion, they're more in need of a Freddy treatment.

The only other way I can see the Legion working with a similar power is to make it closer to Deathslinger. Make him a rushdown killer. Feral Frenzy works for one hit, then a Nurse-like stun (basically what he has, but maybe a bit shorter). If the survivor has the Deep Wounds status, then they go down. Reduce the current cooldown to balance and make it that if the Legion finds you, then you're in danger.

My two favorite pig mains on the forums arguing. What do we do? The Earth as we know it will crumble and we will all fall into the endless void of space, starving and suffocating left and right. It's raining the end of the world.

I try to promote debate and discussion. It seems though that a lot of people simply don't want that.

That's also nothing against @TAG specifically, it's just that if you are going to criticise something that I've said, then it would just be better to actually give me a way to improve on my point if it's an idea to implement, or good counterpoints relevant to the discussion at hand. I admit that my idea is open to abuse, but so is the current system.

That doesn't justify the whole RNG both Amanda and survivors go through. Sure, sometimes random moments can make games fun but for the killer you either get your slowdown or you don't get one. That's it, it can only be kinda thrilling for survivors... Untill the killer decides to tunnel you for a little bit if you get unlucky with your RBT. The whole concept is good, the execution is not. It's not even that much SAW themed, like, the actual SAW traps didn't require you to be lucky, you could only do everything by yourself by sacrificing something or someone.

Well, the RBT is literally the most iconic SAW trap. And I don't really see a way to have grievous bodily mutilation within Dead by Daylight. As a SAW fanatic, and devout Pig main, it'd be nice, yet somehow just extremely unrealistic.

Your idea is abusable. Whether or not I come up with a better one won't change that.

It's an idea. You start with a basic one, people bounce ideas, the ideas get more refined and then we have something a bit more concrete.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1121082#Comment_1121082

Abusing mechanics like Borrowed Time, body blocking, and winning, right? Because people will absolutely use the "honor system" for that last reason.

How do YOU suggest we fix these problems then? Personally, I'm sick to death of being punished for others playing to troll others. I'm so frustrated with being hardcore face-camped by cloaked Wraiths who can't play the game properly. I'm about ready to delete the chainsaw killers with how many of them simply rely on it and waste my time with their chainsaw when they could have already downed me with 2 basic attacks.

So, let's see you come up with a better idea to remove these problems from the community.

  • This is why it would be nice to see something like an "honour" system so that those who want to abuse mechanics like Borrowed Time bodyblocks, facecamping and tunnelling or any of those other techniques that everyone LOVES to complain about, so that those who commonly do this are sent to their own little area where they can do this endlessly.

  • Are you doing generators with a helmet on? Normally I see people rush the boxes to get them off instantly.

You can do the boxes without them being active.

It's also as @Jigsaw_pprentice1993 said. 99.9% of the time, you get a kill because someone doesn't know how the trap works.

1 … 50 51 52 53 54 … 70
