  • People are just going to flock in to try the new stuff, then disappear for a bit or calm down and go back to old favoured strategies.

I say give it a week tops.

  • I still have unused Bone Splinters. Not that I like Leatherface.

It is annoying, though, and I don't think that I'll actually get anything for still having them. Shame.

  • All that Rank 1 means is basically a devotion of time, rather than a test of actual skill. I got to red, it hated it. Ended up versing the same 3 characters on a loop, with one particular character coming in way more than should be allowed.

Incentive skins or no, I'm not exactly willing to climb back up there again. I'll stick to purple and green. More variety, more fun.

  • They CAN but they won't. Killers are almost formulaic at this point in that regard.

  • Legion also has a 32m Terror radius and an increase in movement speed when they use their power. They also require everyone to be close for the whole hit everyone part, lose the ability to see scratch marks and have a fairly long slowdown and stun after using their power.

If they WERE to increase his movement speed to 4.6m/s then they would increase his terror radius. This would make him WORSE than his current iteration as his range is shorter than you think and survivors would have more warning as to his approach.

  • As a whole these days, we're all basically just handed whatever we want, and there's now so MUCH hand-holding within video games especially. It's actually nice to find a game that I really have to work at to improve, rather than just log in once in a while and get rewarded for showing up.

The real world doesn't operate that way either. You earn your keep.

100% agree, I think they should buff his harpoon gun instead of just increasing his movement speed... Because imo his gun is very unforgiving if you miss, without addons of course...

Probably increase the reel in speed, and reduce the amount of survivor control over the chain. You have a frigging HARPOON lodged into your chest! I don't think that anyone is going to be playing tug-o-war with a superhuman with that in their chest cavity.

  • If Deathslinger was 115 movement, then his terror radius would be increased to 32 to compensate. This would be WORSE for him, since his chain would have way less effective range.

  • To me, this is just a sign that the devs are releasing killers that are in a more balanced position. He's just been released and I can't see a single whiny "NERF DEATHSLINGER" thread yet.

He does also seem like a boom or bust type of character. If you can hit shots, then you're going to go a long way, just like Huntress. If not, then you're attached to another object by an inclined plane wrapped helicly around an axis.

  • Rainbow 6: Siege has a steeper initial learning curve than Dead by Daylight to me. And this is still on console. ANY From Software game is also going to kill you more times than DbD per hour.

From what I've heard too, there's also DOTA, LoL, WoW and CS:GO are also apparently really hard to get into.

    @DepressedClownMain said:

    You havent played Destiny 2

D2 was also a lot easier to get into when it wasn't Free-to-Play and you were kinda forced into the Red War campaign.

Keeping up with Raids, Crucible and Gambit meta however is a different story and only for those who want to waste stupid amounts of time on the game. Personally, I don't. I just get my weekly stuff to stay at the highest power level.

  • It was simply a meme that the community came up with, but a lot of Pig players now use it as an insidious lure to draw out foolish survivors who think that just because I'm one of the lower tier killers, then I'm more open to farming games and general foolery.

    Big mistake.

It's as Fibijean said above. It's a coin toss as to what the Pig player will do. Unless they show signs of wanting to actually farm, then do not boop the snoot. They are Stabby Swine.

  • @Clevite said:

    Basket Case, Green day

Am I just paranoid, am I just stoned?

  • Pig.

If it's a baby, it'll be the easiest game of my life. If they are (somehow) more devoted to the Way of Jisgsaw than me, then they're actually going to challenge me and teach me new things. Which is what I WANT killers to do.

Other than that, Clown. I never get to verse him anywhere! And when I do get that rare chance, they're either good matches, or a garbage killer who tunnels.

As for your add-on suggestions, I'm fairly certain that the Gears add-ons increase searching time. I know that there's at least one that does.

  • The Hawaiian is a SACRED AUSSIE DISH and will be respected the same way as the schniddy, parma, lamington, Tim Tam, Vegemite, meat pie and Macca's.

  • If a killer REALLY wants to tunnel you, they'll eat the DS and go at you again, or stand over you for a minute.

It doesn't do it's job in the sense of it DELAYS tunnelling.

Do I know how to fix the issue? No. I won't pretend to. I do believe that it is largely preventable, if made a punishable offence.

But is this """legitimate""" strategy ever going to get the same treatment as face-camping, an issue that has a minimal and quite frankly insulting penalty? No. Not really.

  • If I want to play with my rank 20 mates, then I just have separate accounts to do that with. They're free on console after all. I just go in with underpowered perks and play normally. Try to make it more balanced anyway.

  • Look. Hitting Purple is not easy, since at Green you get people who've stopped playing for a while, and know the game or those who've been rewarded a bit too much for tunnelling and camping.

I've also gone for P3 on Yui and that took forever. I'm there now, but I have to finish getting my good perks to level 3. Again. It takes a lot of commitment to a single character to do.

Don't sell yourself short with something like this. You're now basically in the top level of the game and will start competing with red ranks. Messed up matchmaking or disability aside, it's still impressive.

Now you're up here, your next challenge is to keep that rank. You'll start facing killers that have hardly been used in the lower ranks. Adapt, overcome, survive.

  • I love versing tryhard Rank 1 Billies with Primer Bulb minimum, Haunted Ground and NoED against a team of solo purples at rank 7 and getting completely destroyed.

    It works both ways here.

On console, Billy is the popular vote. But we still have Myers occasionally, there's a few Doctors running around. Ghostface is also meant to be quite popular with the console crowd, but I don't face him THAT much. Spirit is super powerful and I know that I'm going to have a bad time against her.

  • Ah, yes. I'm going to keep you on the ground for an extended period of time, then just delete you because I can't be bothered to play the game properly.

No, I don't care that you've been queuing for longer than I have, or that you've spent less time actually doing something than we have sitting at the lobby and loading screens. My job is to kill you not to entertain you.

I "wasted your time", huh? Just git gud, you entitled survivor main.

But no, Survivors are the problem for bringing perks that stop this kind of thing.

Literally waited years for Trapper to receive buffs. Just how patient can one be?

Have you been nerfed every other patch? No? You're in a better spot than me then!

I haven't had a buff in years for my killer, I've only had nerfs to them since joining the game and I just deal with it. A QoL change is more than I've been given.

  • I've thought about combining it with several other perks, such as Better Together and Prove Thyself.

Problem for me is that it relies on proximity to teammates, and while recovering from Exhaustion faster is great, there aren't that many who use the other effects on a timer.

  • Wow. Someone actually using "entitled" properly in the forums, rather than to just shut down conversation.

As for that survivor though, JEEZ. I've had some questionable hits in this game, but never really said that someone doesn't "deserve" a kill. The only time I've ever said anything close has been against hardcore face-campers/tunnellers or an Insta-saw Billy with NoED on Yamaoka Estate.

Just take the L, collect your BP and cue up for the next one.

  • Underrated? Yes.

    Combines with other perks? Yes.

Supports the survivor meta? Kinda, as it can help with the gen-rush.

Can be completely countered by Discordance though. Part of the reason I haven't started using it.

  • Adam. Or the cursed Quinten.

I can remember Jeff as he's pretty much the only survivor that I can cosplay.

isnt that what you would want right now though?

    more people to play killer?

cause currently you do the exact opposite, which, given the current survivor lobby times, isnt exactly helpful to the situation...

Well, there needs to be a balance there. Statistically there should be 4 Survivor players to every killer.

It's just going to take a few tomes and balance patches to get closer to that equilibrium.

  • Super annoying operator to go up against. K1 is a very solid weapon and the BOSG can be suprisingly effective. Gadget is a little weak and doesn't do anything to help the team.

  • I don't use Pallet Freddy, so I can't comment there. To me though, he's a more interesting version of Trapper. Both are just basic M1 killers with something that survivors have to avoid on the ground. Freddy has more too him.

  • Well, The Game feels terrible for a lot of games, and I find that as both Killer AND Survivor, so people just tend to avoid it. Hawkins is alright. I don't love it, I don't hate it. Same with Lery's.

Somehow the Asylum feels alright, but not like there's enough cover for me as someone who prefers more of a stealth approach.

Haddonfield just feels dumb. With all the alleyways and fences it's too open for a Killer, but small for a Survivor trying to dodge attacks and detection, but also has the killer disadvantages of an indoor map, without the benefits.

Nobody likes the Swamp, but they are a bit more balanced, and I just wish that there was more in the middle than knee-high crates. Majority the trees and whatnot are limited to the outer 25% of the maps there.

Bedham is actually ok for the most part.

MacMillian and Autohaven just depends on the variant. The lengthy Autohaven does feel way more Killer sided, as you can basically section off half the map and make the dreaded 3-Gen happen very easily.

Corn maps are fine for either side, but Killer dependent. I've had a lot of free hits because I'm a Dash-Pig in corn who randomly bumped into a Survivor.

Red Forest are quite Survivor sided, though. They are actually really large and you can hold a Killer at a jungle gym for quite a while. Similar story with Ormond, but it's harder to hide with normal dark clothing. And the centre building is larger, so less outer space.

I haven't the faintest about Deathslinger's map, though, as console players don't get a PTB.

  • Wraith. The other two need full re-works.

Wraith's power is still usable and with people like Tru3Talent finding ways of making him viable within the higher ranks of gameplay, then he may just need some slight tweaking.

I see no redeeming qualities within Bubba's kit, as it's kind of a rush-job after the got the licensing for Texas Chainsaw Massacare, but his perks are great. I'm just not sure at all how they're going to change his kit so that he's good, yet still different enough from Hillbilly. I think that they kind of backed themselves into a corner with that one.

As for Clown, he was fantastic on release, or at least that's what I've heard before. There are so many limiters on his power, though, that need to be removed or given the Freddy treatment. For starters, we can remove the slowdown when you throw the bottle, give him back bottles over time rather than reloading.

Tunneling and camping is again based on context. Now I play rank 1 as survivor and killer so you're right, this camping and tunneling thing is not common. But when it is, it usually has a reasoning behind it. As I said before, if someone is unhooked in front of you, logically you're going to slug that person who just got unhooked. I as the killer am not going to let him go away or let them starting healing or repairing gens in front of me. And depending on the situation with the game, it probably isn't better to target someone else.

It may be a garbage strategy in some games. But the killer succeeds either way with at least 1k. Sometimes it's better to tunnel than it is not to based on whatever perks and strategy you're using. It just typically ruins the game for 1 survivor, not 4 people

I normally just target the idiot who unhooked them in that situation. It's not the other guy's fault that situation happened unless they're on comms, which I can't determine.

As for losing rank, I generally don't care. I pretty much play for Archives these days.

"Fix gameplay issues that allow players to bully each other.

    • Sandbagging, hook destruction crews, Killer bullying, instant Ebony Mori, tunneling, camping, these all need to be fixed in some way. I do not know exactly how to fix it personally, but I hope we as a community can brainstorm how to solve these issues in the game. Simply telling players to not do them sadly will not work."

So I'm going to nitpick this portion a bit. Some stuff is valid and is already reportable like Sandbagging. But why is the Mori being attacked? Or the hook destruction crews? And tf is killer bullying?

Hook Destruction Crew - A "Crew" that is designed to get rid of hooks either immediately when a killer downs a survivor and is heading towards one or just goes around to get rid of hooks to not have to worry so much about getting hooked in a particular area. Both reasons that are pretty valid if not over the top sometimes, depending on context. There are perks that combat this as well, Franklin's Demise being one of them. You also got Iron Grasp and Agitation. It's on you as the killer to make a sound strategy and outsmart the Survivor. Plus they're already attempting to fix this with the next update.

Ebony Mori - A rare offering that allows you to kill any survivor after at least one hook. So that requires a killer to at least have some decent skill. Typically used for rituals since you have some that require you to kill people by your own hand with a specific killer like Legion since he's the most common one for me. What's the problem with it? You don't like the idea of being killed in a pretty cool fashion? Or that the killer has the option to not give what you think is your obligated 3 hooks?

Tunneling and Camping - I'm just going to link these 2 together since it's basically the same thing since it's a crappy tactic that no one likes. Tunneling is based on context right? What if the survivor that was unhooked decides to stay in the area for whatever reason when you come back? You obviously see/hear the survivor, are you just going to ignore that person out of some hidden rule book for killers? No, you would down that survivor and you would either A.) Slug them or B.) hook them again because clearly they don't know how to survive. Camping is interpreted differently. You have your 'proxy camping' which I guess is just when the killer is relatively in the area and hasn't left yet for a number reasons. Maybe the survivors have Gen locked themselves and the killer hooked a survivor within his patrol route. Maybe as he hooked someone, he saw someone else still in the area or skulking around. You also have your face camping which is essentially where a killer just sits in front of you, typically bubba, and waits until you die. Also typically done when the gates are powered and the killer wants a 1k out of it.

Both the tunneling and camping is easy to counter. Survivors have perks such BT, DS, Unbreakable etc. And let's not lie to ourselves, those are the Meta perks being run these days at high levels from what I've seen on PC. If someone is hardcore camping you, that's at least 2 mins of time that the other 3 survivors could be using to pop gens. The killer will be lucky to get a 2k unless the survivors aren't smart. But know, I've seen firsthand survivors just wasting time, staying in the area, clicking their flashlights at the killer or causing needles noises notifcations with fast vaulting or something to get the killer to chase them which usually doesn't work. If a killer is tunneling someone, which isn't the person who unhooked that survivor not taking protection hits? Again, no killer is obligated to hook you and then run to the other side of the map so that someone can unhook you, heal you, and then potentially escape.

I appreciate the criticisms and notices I really do. But it's just biased man. It's apart of the game and survivors never want to be on the bad end of the stick when it happens to them so they complain. This is coming from a survivor main by the way. It's annoying because both sides want to complain about perks or strategies that was used to beat them in some random match.

Even with all those very strong perks, they don't solve the issue. If a killer REALLY wantst to tunnel you, they couldn't care less if you had Decisive Strike or Borrowed Time.

You're indeed NOT under an obligation to run to the other side of the map, but it's just way better for you to target someone else.

An overwhelming majority of these tunnellers and face-campers are actually in the lower ranks. Tunnellers tend to be a bit higher in ranks, but still. Players in those ranks don't know how to rush gens against a camper.

So, how is it biased to simply point out that two garbage strategies ruin the game for at least 4/5 players each match?

Rules Set NO.2 (RSN2) could be made basekit, then we rework RSN2 to cause the RBT to activate immediately. ๐Ÿ˜€

    I like your suggestion!

I've said before to others do NOT make RSN.2 base. It'll just force higher rank survivors onto a generator, which is the exact opposite if what we want.

My personal findings are that a trapped survivor will not be on a generator, unless they're stupid or have a death-wish, so you can largely ignore them and focus on the other people who should still be on those generators.

  • I would just remove the point "Stacks" from all the charge add-ons. And slightly lower their effectiveness.

It'd also be interesting to add a family of add-ons that make you significantly faster, but almost impossible to turn.

Maybe there could even be an ultra-rare add-on that says that the chainsaw now damages generators. Before people go why UR, just think. Your average Billy comes hurtling through the map after a survivor, they collide into their generator and he's now applied regression and Pop Goes the Weasel. The chainsaw is already WAY faster than kicking, so having it as such a rare add-on should be reflected by this.

  • @NMCKE said:

The situation you're describing, survivors who do that will be under tremendous pressure.

When a generator activates their RBT, the game will make a check: Has the survivor been hooked or dying within the last 15 seconds?

If the statement is true, they get 3:00, but if it's false, they get 2:00. ๐Ÿ˜

I was thinking that it was if the trap hasn't turned on after a certain amount of time it activates, which would be much stronger.

  • @honestlybaffled said:

No, its not any monkey that can pickup billy and instantly 4k, billy takes practice, and if you're playing agaisn't a good team, said monkey would be lucky to hit 1 chainsaw.

I did the exact same thing as the OP. I had ONE bad game against high purples as a low green, then started smashing everyone of a similar rank.

It's not that he's OP but he's too easy to play for what you can get out of him.

  • I can understand why people use the perks they do, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm also going to question your motivation for using said perks when you fun a full instant-down kit, like Instasaw Billy or heavily use Tier III Myers, with Haunted and NoED.

Personally, I take pride in EARNING my kills, so yeah I don't run exposure perks. When I play Billy my saw downs are accidental, baits or punishing a REALLY stupid play. I only pop Tier III on Myers at strong loops, like the Killer's Shack. I have used Haunted Ground to protect old Ruin, but those downs didn't feel THAT good.

I personally prefer the thrill of the hunt and catching my prey more than mindless slaughter. I even slow down games by leave chases, slug and do nothing or kick a gen and go "patrolling" because I have Surveillance, because it is more fun that way. My Dash hits actually leave me more excited than anything in this game, because I have become the unseen predator.

As for your points, @Fibijean, I play a lot of stealth Claudette because I'm actually terrible in a chase, or at least I was. Stealth was a viable option for me that way. It just so happens that I could work on out-smarting a killer.

Or just keep pushing that narrative that all the killer mains on the forums do. That's fine.

  • Face camping, hardcore tunnelling, killer power level, abusable perks and dedicates servers.

Servers was HELL on Xbox, and I actually had to quit until they were disabled.

Toolbox changes are going to go a long way though. I welcome that change.

@PodgeNotRodge I can snowball very well and easily as Pig. Does that make her OP?

@xRem that's a different issue. Matchmaking a low purple with a lower performing killer (Demogorgon) against reds with possibly an OoO SWF squad doesn't relate to Hillbilly's power level.

Just curious, what made you like my passive timer idea? ๐Ÿ™‚

Seeing too many people run around freely and working on generators with not a care in the world. The trap is a joke. It's a temporary inconvenience outside of specific add-on combinations.

That being said, I'm largely fine with where the RBT is at the moment in terms of power, and feel that the rest of her kit should be looked at. Especially with the introduction of Ghostface and his clearly superior crouch.

  • This whole "passive timer" idea is a good idea to add pressure to afflicted survivors and make the RBT less of a joke.

I still think that Pig can easily become a top-tier killer, or at least rival Ghostface with a few number tweaks in every other part of her kit, though. Buffing the consistent parts of her kit would make her significantly better.

  • Two exposure effects and an instant-down power. High mobility character. Higher rank than all the survivors, with two of them in a whole colour category below. Arguably strongest add-on combination outside of the hated insta-saw. No toolboxes, two survivors without items at all.

I'm not seeing a strong case for your argument here. And I'm of a neutral standpoint for 99% of what I say, or aim to be.

  • I get WAY more Hillbillies than any other killer and almost no Freddy.

You need region and platform. I'm in Aus Xbox so my Nurse stat is going to be lower than your Plague after all.

  • I'm on console, so the killer list might be swayed a little bit because of it.

Killer: Nurse, Hag (don't want to though), Cannibal, Pig, Clown, Spirit, Plague, Demogorgon, Oni.

Surprised I see less Spirit as she's basically the best killer on console, but I guess that people want easy street with Hillbilly.

Survivor: Ace, Quentin, Tapp, Adam, Jeff, Ash, Nancy, Yui

  • @XRuecian said:

I definitely think they should find a way to punish camping at least. Tunneling is annoying, but not nearly as toxic feeling as camping.

Perhaps they could just make the survivor take even longer to die on the hook if you just stand around them, that way you have to give up even more generators if you camp.

Camping hurts low ranked players a lot. One of if not the biggest mistake i see lower ranked survivors make, is that when one person is hooked, ALL THREE other survivors try to come to the rescue, even ones on the other side of the map. This is the worst thing you can do as a survivor, and the best way to reward a camping killer. If someone gets hooked, and you are on a generator on the other side of the map, just finish the generator; regardless if the killer is a camper or not. The camping killers will quickly realize that if he camps, he will lose all the gens. If all three survivors come to save one person, the killer has successfully 'delayed' all 4 players from progressing. But if only one person goes for the save, the killer has only delayed two players. If you really notice a killer is camping a hooked player, don't even rescue them at all. I know it sucks for the one player on the hook. But the best thing you can do is punish the killer and just pop all the gens while he wastes time. Trying to go for a save against a camper will just get the unhooked player tunneled on and basically do nothing for your team at all.

Problem is that lower ranks, except smurfs or people who have played SWF with higher ranks, DON'T know about that. It's a sad reality of low ranks.

Campers get rewarded due to lack of knowledge of the game from survivors and rank up because they get kills, and you have lower pip requirements for lower ranks.

I literally got facecamped by a Legion in my first game and one of my first thoughts was "Why did I buy this game?" since I could do nothing and it was super boring to mash A trying to hope that they left. Not a good feeling for new players, but (and I hate to say this....) the devs do actually somewhat encourage it by saying that camping and tunnelling are not punishable offences.

It's also especially prevalent in Wraith and Ghostface players, but that's a playerbase issue and the topic of another discussion that I'll be doing later.

  • It's nice to have something LESS deadly than usual hunting me down for once.

In an area with some of the deadliest fauna a short walk away and it commonly reaching over 40*C (100+*F) with above 50% humidity, having a childlike Russian woman hurtling hatchets who's somehow BIGGER THAN ME, and I'm about 6"6' and decently built, is strangely relaxing. I don't have to look over my shoulder as much.

That and it seems like we love horror like the Brittish love crime dramas. I can't stop laughing at Final Destination, or marvel at the mechanical genius of the SAW traps. The only horror movie that has really scared me was Wolf Creek, but that was several days later when you wake up and realise just how realistic that one is.

I almost feel bad for recommending to MandyTalk now.

  • Yes. They're camping and tunnelling. It is just so boring to go against and luterally a waste of my time.

  • Well, with the Nurse changes, those who only played her for her strength ditched because she required actual skill to play, (MORE than before, but not much.........) so those who remained truley cared about the character and could still use her to her full potential.

It feels like they all moved over to Hillbilly.

Overall I'm hapoy for Nurse. Those who play her WANT to play her and want to do well with her, not just picking the top pick because it's an easy win.
