Same has happened to me twice in the last few days. Went out of my way to mount a rescue only for the person to die right as I got to them as if I stepped on an invisible kill trigger.
Perhaps the survivor stops pressing the struggle button in anticipation of the rescue? I kept doing this when I started playing. Stopped struggling to early.

Sorry for some reason my whole comment didn't get entered. I edited it.

I would say yes.
It isn't an accurate portrayal of a survivors/killers skill. This morning went up against supposed rank 4 survivor who didn't see the player until a couple of generators were done by the other survivors. Found the player hiding out and hooked them. They had not done anything from what I could tell. They were pretty quick to rage quit at the point.

How did it get solved?
Two of us had bled out and died and were spectating. A third survivor had disconnected and the match still continued. In the end the fourth survivor that was floating/being carried had to disconnect for the match to end.

I'm stuck in this game for 20 minutes already, this meg went into a locker, I grabbed her just as she jumped out and I can't hook her. tried many times. also my movement is glitching from time to time.
we are stuck like this for 20 minutes and i refuse to DC.
Are you sure it is a hacker?
We experienced something similar earlier today were the killer couldn't hook one of the survivors. It was a little different in that the survivor appeared to be stuck over a pallet to the other survivors but to the killer he said in post match chat that from his perspective he was carrying her and could not drop or hook her.

I like Starstruck and have already found it useful on other killers I have trained it to. Keeps the body blockers at bay.

oh but the "counterplay" is avoiding lockers. K.
so just avoid literally every single locker then and commit to zero chases. Great
The perk Iron Maiden is a counter for it. Exiting the locker makes them exposed for a short time.

that happened to me before three PS4 players 1 killer 2 survivors working together ruined the game one deliberately died and was feeding information to there friend where me and a feng was and leading the killer to us then they point farmed at the end
Now that sounds reportable. That definitely wasn't what I was doing. Just wanted that achievement and it all gets blown out of portion. 😑

I'm almost certain it means he thinks you and the killer were working together.
How would that even be possible for a survivor and killer to know each other and work together in a public match? The odds must be very low with it set up which killer it is going to be at the beginning of the match. Isn't somewhat unpredictably on which player is the killer for the match since is based the skill of the killer and if they are the next killer in line for a match of that skill level?

@OBX said:

Well many times the killer is going to intentionally ignore you to get another quick hook state off the person you farmed. Survivors have a very valuable resource in the amount of time they can simply hang on a hook. Rushing another hook state is super advantageous to the killer.
They were ignoring the survivor I unhooked also. They would hook them and I would start to unhook the survivor and the killer would just ignore me and the one I was unhooking and go look for another survivor.
At the end of the match I took a protection hit to protect the other remaining survivor so they could escape through the exit gates and the killer ran off after the survivor escaped leaving me in the match still alive and standing right in the exit. Was kind of strange actually. I'm thinking that they did it on purpose because somehow they knew I was trying to get hooked.

To my knowledge, unintentionally farming your teammates isn't bannable.
I wasn't farming my teammates. Is that what Boosting is?
-

Maybe I'm dumb, but I don't what "boosting" is either.
They may have been trying to call you "boosted", which is an insult meaning you suck. They likely called you that because you were unhooking them directly next to the killer.
Maybe. I don't why me unhooking them next to the killer would be reportable. See it done all the time though usually the killer is trying to stop the other survivors from unhooking each other and in this case the killer was ignoring me for some reason.
Figures since I didn't want the killer to ignore me. When you would prefer they ignore you they don't and when you don't want them to ignore you they do. Figures doesn't it? 😛

That's not a good reason to DC. You can see what they are carrying in the pre match screen and use the Leave Match option before it even begins. There is also the perk Lightborn. Makes the flashlights useless against you.

Survivors have caused a drop in those who will play killers. Body blocking as a good example of why.
Others will dodge also due to survivors action such as P3 Claudette(s). I personally don't but some will dodge for keys(I just bring Franlkin's Demise) but will dodge for the Claudette(s).

Camp and tunnel is all killers do now. Something needs to be done to discourage this gameplay or else this game is finished. Players should not pip up in rank if that's all that they are doing. Devs go back to the drawing board and fix it. Leatherface is the worst and with the new map layout you can't get away from him.
Not all killers camp and tunnel. I usually don't camp or tunnel.
The times I do it is because of things like I have a challenge that requires a certain survivor(like the obsession). I will also camp and tunnel a survivor that is not doing anything except hiding in lockers or on the outer edge of the map though in that situation camping isn't always necessary as the survivors occasionally don't want to rescue them from the hook anyways.
-
If he DC'd then he gets the ban. From what your saying he intentionally DC'd because he didn't like the match. It's not meant for the kind of situation your describing.
It sounds like the match had started. If he didn't want to go against the 3 Claudettes and the Key he should have Back button before the final 5 second countdown ended to start the match.

Okay, so I get that you can't tell DCs apart blah blah blah but is there really nothing that can be done about this?
Why do I get booted from my game, lose all my blood points and my offering, and then get a disconnect penalty because steam is going through maintenance?
Can you at least consider making it so that on Tuesdays if you get just one disconnect that doesn't count at all towards DC penalties, and then if it does it a second time and we get the 5 minute one we can just take a break?
Instead what we have now is you try and connect, things are fine, and you get booted again and told to wait 15 or 30 minutes now for something entirely not your fault? I just got booted, got a 5 minute penalty, got back in waited it out, things seemed fine, happened again and now I am locked out for a short while.
I would seriously rather like a 10% increase in rage quits on Tuesday, instead of punishing like 70% of innocent players overall.
I can see the losing the offering but oh a five minute disconnect penalty. Not a big inconvenience.
As for it happening again and getting a bigger penalty that's at least partially on you. You probably should have waited a bit before trying another match.

I was playing as the Hag and interrupted and caught a survivor on a generator that was really close to being done. The hook I put him on was pretty much next to the generator so I placed a couple of traps around the hook and went to find the next survivor.
I had hit another survivor when one of the traps triggered by the hook to I teleported back and hit the rescuer and started chasing them when another trap triggered by the generator that was almost done so I teleported back. It turns out all 4 survivors had been in the area and for the next little bit they all kept trying to get that one generator.
It changed from a normal match as they kept coming back to that one generator so instead of patrolling the others I put all the traps around that one and was camping it yet they still kept coming. Eventually they did all the generators.
I expected them all to escape and was fine. Things turned out differently however and that is why I wished I would have recorded the whole thing.
I started towards the closest exit gate and caught one trying to open it. I had NOED and was knocked him to the ground. In the meantime a second survivor had opened an exit gate. I then hooked him and went for the one that had opened the gate which was not far away. The survivor was still standing in the exit are near the exit so I thought he wanted me to deadly wound him and he would exit. When I did however he did not leave so I picked him up and hooked him. It was then that I remembered that I had Blood Warden. I had not used it very much and honestly that is the first time it had ever activated for me.
Suffice it to say they all ended up sacrificed on a match that I thought they would all escape on and it was all because of Blood Warden.
I should have just let them go as planned but was so surprised by how things progressed I just hooked them all. The match was fun overall(For me at least. Not sure about the Survivors). First the generator thing and then the Blood Warden. I should have just let them go as I planned but was so surprised by how things progressed I ended up sacrificing them all.
I should of recorded it as a match like that that will likely never happen again.

I played on Haddonfield last night, and a Claudette hid in a locker in one of the houses while 3 of her teammates died on a hook. For one of them, it was his first hook. It’s not even like she was hatch camping because it hadn’t even spawned yet. This was at red ranks. Her teammates were pissed.
As a killer every so often I catch a survivor doing that. I usually don't camp and tunnel but in those cases I do.
-
No because I think it is one of the problems with the current system. Killers possibly finding ways to get a better MMR yet lacking the skill to actually play. Then we once again may have the problem of uneven matches.
When MMR was active for 24 hours the other day some of the matches where I was a survivor the killer was a higher rank of 2 and 3 at least twice yet they didn't play as rank 2 or 3 killers. One of the rank 2's may was absolutely terrible at being a killer though I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they may not have been used to that killer since I think I heard each one has it's own MMR.
It may not even per se be one number but a calculation.

As a survivor, what counts as winning a match? Escaping the match? Rescuing the most people? Having the most overall skill? I am curious of other people's opinions on this :)
Personally I don't think a number can be put to it and it depends on if the match was fun or not on if it is a winning. Not on how many generators are done, how many escape, etc.
Basically it falls on all 4 survivors and the killer to make it fun. Survivors who rage quit ruin it for everyone else(survivor and killer) in the match, killers that camp or tunnel also ruin it(it's not fun to wait for a match only to have an inexperienced killer sit at the hook and camp or chase down the same one until they are sacrificed when there are other survivors still in the match), survivors who body block ruin it making it not fun for the killer, etc.

No matter if you're a killer or a survivor, if you hack to win, you deserve to stub your toe everyday for the rest of your life. That is all.
Except you speed-hacking Michael who never got a down with it, I don't know why you were just zooming across the map for no reason, but I appreciate you not using it to win.
Is speed hacking actually a issue in this game? I would have thought things like players location, rate of speed, etc. would be handled server side versus client side and the client is only receiving and displaying the data(such as each survivors/killers location, health states, hit or miss, etc..) being sent to it from the game server(s).
As an example if I see the killer move through a that I pallet that I had just pulled down and hit me that doesn't mean that the killer used a hack to go through the pallet. It could very well mean that on my end my game client didn't get the information fast enough to show that I didn't drop the pallet in time before the killer was past it.

Just because you don't see it being discussed in the forums doesn't mean it is being ignored. The dev message gives a way to contact customer support which is probably a more reliable place to get information and what those who have concerns are doing versus the forums.

I''ve asked and asked about all these bad server connections lately yet i get no answer, well i'm done waiting, i want to know why everyone, including me, is having such bad lags on this game.
I've put up with it until now, but i've reached my limit. No more games, no more messing around, and no more avoiding it!
Its not my connection because its been fine up until recently, i've tried turning cross-play off but its the same.
And to make sure this message isn't ignore like the others, i'm gonna make sure this message keeps showing up until it gets a proper answer from someone who knows what the heck is going on!
So i'm gonna ask a simple question. Is there someone wrong with the servers?
It's not everyone or even most of the players. I know quite a few people who play this game and for the most part the don't experience lag.
It's either on your end or somewhere between you and the game servers.

Well, as I said in another thread: It will not be perfect or close to it. Not ever.
Heck, over in Overwatch, my team plays Quick Play and Quick Play Classic, both of which use a hidden MMR system for matchmaking. And in either mode, we will get many lopsided stomp matches, either for or against us. Some nights, the entirety of the night is like that.
And that is a game with a far greater playerbase to create matches with.
Nothing is ever perfect but from what I have seen during this test MMR is considerably better at matchmaking then the older matching system.

Games are more balanced and challenging, and you never know if you can win or lose. If you 4k'd as killer a lot, your mmr is probably inflated right now. It will drop after you lose some games and they'll become more enjoyable. Im exited to see it live. Idk how it works with swf tho. It should use average swf mmr and boost it a liitle for matchmaker since voice comms are stronger than solos
Oh also rip streamers 50+ winstreaks, which should never be possible in first place
It already helped with some of the problems such as matching those who's rank does not match their skill level(such as those who de pip) with those at their actual skill level.

Sounds like there may not be many survivors at your skill level as Hillbilly to match you with. Is the Hillbilly your main and do you have a high sacrifice rate using that killer?
I'm not completly sure but I think I read that each killer has it's own rating now.
-
The matches I have been in have been better. The ones that don't like it seem to be the ones who depip or artificially increase their rank using SWF because they are now in the matches that match their actual skill level.
Went against a killer yesterday a red rank 2 when all the survivors were rank 16 to 18 and the player playing the killer was not a rank 2 skill wise. It was a balanced match.

It takes 10+ minutes to get a match with Billy and I'm being matched with actual rank 20s. I have 3000 hours in the game. I have confirmed with other friends who play Billy at a rank 1 level that they are also experiencing this. During the previous MMR test, Billy was bugged in the exact same way regarding the matchmaking. Why is he still like this nearly a year later on MMR? Like...how did nothing change in that amount of time?
I have seen my fair share of rank 1's who don't play as one would expect a rank 1 to play. More like rank 16 or 17. Not even sure how they got to rank 1 with how they play so it's seems that rank does not necessarily signify skill.
I have only played maybe or 6 matches with the new system they are testing and a couple of them were with rank 1 killers. One of them was playing Billy and they seemed to be in the right skill level match going against survivors rank 15-18 even though it said they were rank 1.

I have played 4 matches and so have found it to be better.
It does appear to be catching the ones who de rank on purpose and putting them against those of the appropriate skill level. That I find to be a good thing.
It also appears it might also be catching some of these rank 1, 2 and 3 killers aren't really at that skill level. I went against a killer with a rank of 1 that didn't play like someone of that rank. More like a rank 16 or 17 which causes me to wonder how the person got to rank 1 to begin with.

I just went against a level 1 when I am like at rank 16 myself as a survivor but this killer was not like a level one. He played more like I would expect a level 17.
I have only played a couple of matches but it seems that the system is working so far. I am curious on how the player got to level 1 killer rank when the player doesn't seem to play like I would expect a level 1 to play skill level wise.

Don't know if you have corporate mandates to fill BHVR, I don't really care, what I do care about is you sticking to this 3 month killer release schedule with all these skins and whatever and yet no public announcements have been made with your goals to increase the game in technical quality whatsoever. You say you are constantly working on optimization for consoles at least but it seems that is rather ignored as frames can still dip plenty into below 20's on console, game stutters are often and crashes happen sporadically between patches.
Combine this with utterly abhorrent build testing where numerous and sometimes character or game breaking bugs are let into live server with a "fix it later" mentality. I am honestly surprised how successful this game is, but seeing as DBD is in the same niche games like madden and fifa have where they can be as broken and utterly trash as possible but gamers still buy them because they have a monopoly on that specific game niche is fully apparent with DBD.
The developers have made it abundantly clear in their near half a decade working on DBD and even longer before it's official release that they do not care about making a quality product and see you the player as expendable dollar signs and profit margins. And if any moderators take offense to me saying this then explain the year after year of utterly abhorrent bugs, glitches, optimization, and technical failures and errors that has plagued DBD patch-to-patch since its inception, yet they are still holding to a tight monetary 3 month content dump schedule and running microtransactions and battle-passes galore whilst the game SUFFERS.
Entire chapters, characters, and maps are released broken, buggy, and unfinished. Playtesting is so non-existent only a few months ago a literal universal HOOKING bug was let loose into live and took the developers much longer than they should of to get a hotfix out to patch it. How a bug so core and integral to base gameplay got through even the slightest of oversight BHVR may have goes to show their negligence to create a quality experience for their consumers.
This isn't even to mention the atrocity that is their balancing decisions, never have I seen developers so cloudy and untransparent with their community to address integral issues to their fullest many of which that still to this day go ignored. Dislike facecamping and tunneling? too bad take some perks and shush up, dont like gen rushing and unbalanced maps? too bad take some perks and very underwhelming map "reworks" which still have yet to actually balance many of the ultra safe loops and tile structures dead by daylight has. Yet they are still out here selling battlepasses, skins, and new chapter right on schedule no matter how broken it is for your consumption and their monetary gain.
BHVR, show us you care about your game... that you actually care, you can patch perks and buff or nerf this and that all you want and make baffling "reworks" like you did to clown all day. But until you actually show you desire to make this game better in meaningful and fundamental ways, you are no different than EA or Activision, strangleholding and nickle and diming players to your monopoly that you desperately hope no real competition to come in and rock your boat made out of cards.
I read your forum TOS mods, nothing in this post is inflammatory or inciting negativity towards anyone or the developers, It is all information easily collected through observational fact which many in the community is already aware of; I hope you take that into consideration when reading this over.
Why don't you make your own game?

In the past week, I've been kicked out of five games with the "You need an Internet connection to access this content" despite very clearly having stable Internet.
The game has its faults and adding a ban for people who get kicked out of no fault of their own, is silly.
Your still blaming the game when not much to support that. Otherwise it would be affecting more players which does not appear to be the case.
The issue could be on your end, could be your ISP or it could be any one of the hops that it takes when sending or receiving the packets from the game. Instead of just blaming the game if you really want to resolve the issue your going to need do some troubleshooting.
Things such as doing a traceroute to see if their is some packet loss somewhere between you and the game servers. Perhaps your firmware on your router is out of date, IP address or DNS issues, blocked ports, ISP line or hardware issues somewhere between you and the game servers and so forth and none of which may be the fault of the game.
As for the penalty you have their are 4 other players in each match and you are having a disconnect issue which you know about. When you disconnect it affects their game play so yes the penalty is fair as you are playing matches knowing you might disconnect from those matches.

Play fair and earn your blood points following the RULES of the GAME. Not hard.
For the most part body blocking isn't cheating or against the rules as long as your not taking the game hostage.
Their are also ways to deal with survivors who use the method. I generally put the survivor I am carrying down and go after the others while staying in the general vicinity of the one I put down. Either they get far enough away that I pick up and hook the survivor with no problem or they get injured, possibly deadly injured and potentially hooked themselves depending on the killer I am using.
I actually hooked three survivors not long into a match that way due to them trying to body block hooks that happened to be near the basement. Was pretty amusing and I let the last one go since I felt sorry for the player that was actually doing generators.

And this is why a disconnecting penalty is stupid. It's not uncommon for the game to disconnect you because its badly designed.
It isn't common for the game to disconnect if your system is up to the requirements and you have reliable internet connection. I rarely have it disconnect and the same can be said for most those I know who play who's systems and internet meet the minimum requirements.
Granted their are times things go wrong occasionally like the Steam issue the other day but overall it is not common to disconnect. If someone is getting anything over 15 minutes they either don't meet the minimum requirements for the game or they are rage quitting.

Killer's already lose points in the Chaser Category for remaining in the proximity of a hooked survivor.
