It's a bug that happens during map generation. Some survivors have a habit of exploiting it to make it much harder for killers to win.

OH. I just let the survivors have the match since the map was glitched.

  • @Mooks said:

    it’s a new feature!

A tanuki only appearing on the Yamaoka maps. They added it in the latest update after a Japanese only poll asking which of several Japan-related animals/creatures should be added.

There is also a new achievement for finding it

That's neat. Didn't know any of that.

I have disconnected 3 times today. My internet connection is strong, I have verified my files, reinstalled the game, checked and updated all my drivers. This did not start happening until the last patch. Is there a fix coming? I am up to an hour ban for disconnecting.

That doesn't sound like the same thing that I have been experiencing as I haven't received any kind of ban when it happens. I get a error message about the Dedicated Server and I have lost offerings and add-ons but it has not penalized me with any ban.

  • It's happening again. Three matches so far this evening.

  • I'm not having any crashing issues have you checked your ISP/done a Traceroute?

  • @GenJockeyNance said:

I'm unsure if this falls into bugs category so I apologize if this post is miscategorized but I cannot get into the game. The start screen goes as far as RTM before it gives me an error (connection error: could not connect to RTM server) this has been doing this since yesterday. Eventually it let me in yesterday but today, it won't let me in at all.

Is it only me having this issue?

Check the date and time on your system/console. I was also having this problem and read online that may be the cause. When I resynched mine it let me connect.

Ya two days in a row now, what now that they couldn’t fix last night?

Check the time and date on your system/console. When I resynched mine it let me connect.

  • @gamer_85 said:

I think server is down. Keeps saying RTM can't connect

I just read online it may have something to do with the system date and time not being set correctly. I am on PC and mine is set right so I am not sure what else if anything I can do at the moment on my end to resolve it.

UPDATE: I just resynced the time on my system and it let me connect. Perhaps it was just a coincidence but I can now connect so that maybe resolved it.

  • And it just happened again this time I had to restart the game. That is 3 out of 4 matches.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

I dunno, I just know I skipped it cause I was having trouble with it too.

I have successfully done them in previous challenges however this one doesn't seem to be working the same. The timing seems off, maybe lag however I don't generally lag in the game. The other skill checks seem to be working just fine for me. Just the yellow sigil one seems off or something.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Patrol Path goes from point A (the Knight) to point B (where the power ends).

Guards is summoned on the B side and runs to A and repeats until the timer on the patrol runs out or he finds Survivor to start chasing.

If Knight is creating path that is longer than 10 meters, you don't see the path anymore as Survivor, so that means he can appear somewhere while you don't even notice it. There is also one addon that makes this range (how far you can go) even longer.

OK that explains it. I just have never seen anyone use the Guard to his maximum potential until now I guess.

  • I didn't know the perk had a problem but why would you be using it anyways? Their are more effective perks.

  • @fake said:

There is a diverse range of players.

The scary part of the matchmaking system by skill rate is that if that matchmaking is working, you, who are matched with such a survivor, may be considered the same rate as them.

Also, when combined with factors such as archival challenges, it is not uncommon for players with different objectives to come together. I am guessing that this may actually increase the kill rate.

I prefer to chase and buy time and repair generators to increase my allies' survivability (although unhooking is not my strong suit) rather than going into lockers.

Survivors are not one person, but four.

This may not be the answer you are looking for. Hopefully you will be matched with a better teammate.

None of that really answer the questions I listed.

Clubbing is hitting you and letting you bleed out.

Hook whacking is just poor sportsmanship. ;)

I thought that was called slugging. Anyways I rarely see killers letting survivors bleed out. Do you see this a lot?

I believe(correct if if I am wrong) when a survivors bleeds out it the killer is penalized as it doesn't count as a sacrifice. The penalties for camping should be increased in my opinion however the killer is penalized for both already.

  • @Palevox said:

Please add yours...with a potential solution please...or you are just complaining.

-clubbing/camping has to stop, I suggest a debuff/penalty for the killer for this.

-key and map are pretty much useless, I suggest adding hook percentage escape chance for the key or bring back the hatch, and map should simply be active as long as it is in inventory.

-if I have no injury, and I am the last hook... I should get my escape chances or modifiers from perks.

I believe there is already is a penalty to killers who camp. What is clubbing though?

    But could you imagine?

Shaggy runs into a locker, Michael opens it, and finds nothing because Shaggy popped out of a completely different locker 20 meters away?

    I love that idea. LOL

Been noticing lately that my games have taken a drastic turn for the worse. I've been able to get a consistent 3k till today, where suddenly now I'm going against incredibly coordinated teams and am now having great difficulty downing a single survivor, and if I do succeed at most I'm only getting 1k if I'm lucky. Life is now pain.

The way the system is designed you can't know for sure if your high MMR. From what I understand your MMR is more of a calculation that an actual number. A calculation that may potentially change from match to match if the value of the others in the match are used in it's determination.

Possibly it takes into account the number of matches a set of survivors have played together as a team. If a survivor is using a flashlight it might take into consideration how well the survivor is at using flashlights(I personally am horrible at using them).

It might also take into account how well you/the others in the match are at using the perks they have chosen. If someone chooses Decisive Strike and usually succeeds at the skill check versus someone who chooses it and misses the skill check more often than they succeed then perhaps that would affect their MMR in different ways.

Furthering that on if two survivors both choose Decisive Strike both of which regularly succeed at the skill check and escape also choose Dead Hard. Only one of them is good at escaping the killer after using the perk and the other usually get's caught by the killer perhaps that affects their MMR.

The formula for that calculation could be based on a number of factors such as comparisons, other calculations and so forth. We don't know. If the previous system hadn't been abused then perhaps we wouldn't need a system like this. It was abused however and now now we have this which from my experience has been better than it's predecessor.

I'm pressing E but DH aint coming out, i can't even DH for distance if i try to, it just doesn't come out. And no i did not change my input Bindings and i've even reset them just to make sure it's on E.

Their are more effective perks to choose than DH even before the recent updates and changes. If the killer uses any perk that causes the survivor to be exhausted such as Fearmonger(which I am seeing a lot of these days) the perk is useless until the survivor is no longer exhausted. Even if the survivor is not exhausted it isn't that hard for an experience killer to overcome and still get the survivor.

Clearly op killer in super killer favoured map. They couldn't handle it and gave up. Jokes aside, this happened to me a couple of times a week ago. 3 afk and the last got hatch because I gave it to him

That is generally what I do. If it is just one that DC's I may try and have a normal match however if the remaining survivors are having a hard time I just give the match to them, If it is 3 or more DC's I just give it to the survivors and just wander the map or watch them do generators.

I’m sorry but am I only one that thinks killers are just too op now? I mean getting one hit by the bell guy is annoying. All the killers are pretty much guaranteed a win. They wanted to make this game more balanced but in all honesty they made it more for the killers. If you main survivor, good luck. Your not winning much. Killers abilities are used and abused since they have ABSOLUTELY no cool down. They can spam and re use over and over again and us as survivors just get the crap end of the stick. Used to live playing this game with my squad but we’re looking at switching to Friday the 13th. Good luck anyone that sticks through this game

Playing as both killer and survivor recently I have noticed that that the survivors aren't using teamwork versus the killers being OP. Survivors can work on generators, unhook other survivors, heal and so forth. So often though don't though. I have even seen them leave other survivors to just bleed out that have been left in a dying state. If they aren't going to help each other it makes it easier on the killer.

In the matches I have played as killer if a survivor is going to just move from locker to locker, hide at the edges and so forth hoping that the other survivors will get the generators done so the exit gates can be opened or hoping to get the hatch if the others get sacrificed it doesn't work that way very often. Especially if more than one survivor playing that way and not doing anything.

Teamwork is a important part of it and it is something that I haven't been see a lot of in the matches I have been in recently. Even if solo queuing they should be helping each other however in many matches they don't.

This afternoon I played a game against The Blight, well, I passed the classic, 4 gens, 3 dead, etc. The problem was that I left the last survivor closed for more than 20 minutes, you could not finish the game ... my question is whether this is really baneable or not? Attached video of the game, thank you.

Hard to tell what I am looking at. Can you give better detail about what happened? Is the killer physically blocking you from doing anything?

Here is an example of a killer holding the game hostage.

There are about a dozen reason one could list, but the disappearance of the Queue Blood Point bonus is a large reason I am playing solo survivor less and mostly playing when my friends are online. Once it comes back, I imagine queue times will improve by a fair bit, considering how much people are inclined to do things for Blood Points.

That could be why. It's unusual for me to wait as long as I have been this past week or so.

  • @Adjatha said:

My queue time is typically 20-60 seconds. The longest I had to wait was 3 minutes. It's nothing.

The increase in queue time is because you need 4 survivors to 1 killer, so if the ratio of survivors drops even slightly, or more killer players playing the game increases slightly, the wait likewise changes.

Theoretically, minimum thresholds for MMR also affect queue times, but I haven't noticed an appreciably more accurate matchmaking, so meh.

It's been longer for me this past week. Even at night. I usually get them within seconds at night but haven't been recently.

In typical Netflix fashion, the show was bad, poorly written and not very well acted. I could not care less about it.

Are we talking about the same show? My comment is about Stranger Things and more specifically about if it is coming back to Dead By Daylight.

  • @DBDVulture said:

Please give us honesty. Show us MMR if we want to see MMR values. Let us see the MMR of everyone in the game after the game is over.

For what purpose do you hide MMR?

    - Is it so you can pull hidden strings? If so then this is exactly what we suspect. My guess is that MMR is not displayed because people would be upset if they saw the types of games the matchmaker gives them.

-Is it to protect feelings? If so then let players hide MMR so they can remain ignorant.

One of the reasons it is hidden is because people were abusing it's predecessor by knowing their ranking. You can at least in some way thank those who were abusing the old system for the new one.

I have also heard though I'm not completely sure on it's validity it is now a algorithm that runs when when setting up matches and not a single value which technically may make it harder to display. Game has been much better since they introduced MMR.

How does this work? I DC'd 2 games yesterday, one vs a teleporting myers(who advertised a cheat link post game, reported them with video) and once when i got called into work(not back to back DCs). Came home, played for a few hours and called it a night. over 12 hours later, I drop into a game about 20 minutes ago and a few minutes in, the game locks up with Quinten moaning for 2-3 minutes and then disconnects me. now i have a 30 minute ban? lol

I recalled reading somewhere it deescalates after completing games. Was that information wrong?

From my understanding it is a certain amount of time playing without disconnecting.

  • Perhaps because your play style has put you in with those of those hours.

  • I don't mind survivors using Dead Hard. It is a waste of a perk slot and most of the time only delays me getting them. Their are more effective perks to use.

  • I haven't been having any issues. I'm playing on a fiber connection though. Perhaps it is your internet? Have you tried to run a traceroute?

  • Probably never turned off. I find the MMR system much better than it's predecessor.

As for people wanting to see their MMR score to know how they are doing per match. A number isn't needed to know how someone is doing in a match. How you play during the match shows that. Before MMR you would see high rank players who were less skilled than mid or sometimes even low ranked players showing the rank back then meant nothing when it came to how well a player played.

Also who's to say it is even a set number. It could be an algorithm coded into the game that runs a bunch of variables in which some of the variables aren't known until the Ready button is hit.

  • From what I have seen you need to be actively repairing generators as a survivor or hooking survivors as a killer. I was able to get all 4 in a match as survivor however they didn't start appearing until I had hooked two survivors. I'm guessing it is something similar with survivors only that so many generators have to be repaired before they appear.

  • A vampire is technically dead as is a mummy, a zombie and many other things. The method of ones demise affects what they become and their inherent abilities. Sadako's abilities before she died and followed by the manner of her death have resulted in what she has become.

  • If I encounter body block then the survivors just end up on the ground in a dying state as they bleed out. Dead Hard isn't that hard to overcome either. Usually for me it just delays them getting hit. Their are more effective perks for a survivor to choose.

  • @bm33 said:

It started happening to me about a year ago as survivor. I'll hear the killers terror radius while the camera is spinning loading in. It's never a good time. I just hope that the killer isn't an instadown killer and isn't running lethal pursuer if I happen to atleast spawn behind a wall where I'm not directly facing them. Yesterday I had a match v Doctor on Midwich and I could see his glowy eyes at the other end of the hall facing me when my camera stopped. Was glad he wasn't an insta-down killer so I had a chance for a bit of a chase.

I gave the survivor a chance to go hide and went in a different direction.

  • @N8dog said:

I just had a match where this guy refused a heal to the point of fast vaulting to lure the killer to me and another teammate. I personally feel this falls under "working with the killer" but what would you call this?

Could be or could be new to the game. Playing as killer I am seeing many players that appear to be learning the game. I have been backing off and letting them escape if they seen to be be having substantial difficulty. Still chasing them and hitting them however.

It's been a few year however I still remember playing as survivor and not understanding some things. Especially how to remove a reverse bear trap, how it activates and so forth.

They said the same thing about World of Warcraft several years ago and it is still out there and still going. It's not at it's peak however it's still going.

Same thing with Dead By Daylight. It may not be at it's peak however the numbers show it isn't dying.

  • All of my matches have been today have been with Sadako as the killer.

Still, if it can identify the error to the point where it gives an error code, it should mitigate the penalty for that time.

Giving an error code doesn't necessarily mean the game knows where along the route the connection was lost. Only that either the packet either didn't make it back to the players client it the packet didn't arrive at the server.

The reason it didn't make from the client to the server or vice versa from the server to the client could have been due to the player disconnecting their system from the internet, packets not making it past one of the hops, or a problem with the server.

If the majority of the players are not getting the error that would most likely rule out it being a server issue and the cause being either on the players end or somewhere between the server and the the client. With the server/client having difficulty getting information from each other the server may have difficulty knowing which hop is causing the problem.

Running a traceroute may help find where the problem is by providing information on which hop appears to not be working so that information can be provided to someone ISP.

  • How do you know it is an issue with the server. Connections issues can be caused by anything and anywhere between you and the server.

Since it isn't currently something that the majority of the players are experiencing it seems more likely a problem in one of the hops from network to network as the game packets move between your system and the game server versus a problem with the game server itself.
