    Thing is

    (1) She standing still doesnt mean she starts to phase. She may still looking at your movement behaviour. You dont know when she starts "not able to see you". Which you dont know the moment you should change direction. And you mostly have 3sec to decide what to do when she starts standing still until she post phase attack.

    If you success (1)

    (2) You walking with 57% while she's phasing with 176%. With 3sec to "react", you barely walked 6m. While she phased 10m. Unless you're healthy, you're pretty dead if injured.

    If you success (2)

    (3) Perhaps you make some distance. If she has some kind of increase phasing time & faster recharge addon. She will chase you for 5sec to recharge her power. Then continue to catch up with 176% speed phase.

No matter how hard she fail, she gets no punished.

Your not trying to make distance your trying to get her to lose you. Just find a place to hide. Doesn't even have to be far just a place to hide. Granted it won't work every time however it does work a lot of the time.

Nope, you see. If you suddenly start walking when your being chased. Spirit already knows you near the end of the scratch marks.

All she has to do is unphases then check around. It's redundant.

Double Backing isn't a good idea either because often the spirit unphases as soon the scratch marks disappear.

Not if you do it right she doesn't. Have done it this way many times and it works.

@jaredlxxiii do you mean leaving by walking or running?

    Walking

There's no counter to my argument because it's common knowledge that she doesn't have counterplay.

And I'm right as well. Their "counterplay" is just not leaving scratch marks, which isn't counterplay at all, and it does nothing against an even semi decent Spirit. As I said, she tracks by sound, and since most Spirits use Stridor, she has no counterplay even if you're running the counter perk.

And this isn't about opinion. I'm keeping opinion out of this. My opinion is that she can be really fun to go against. However, I also know that she has no counters, which is what this is about. Her not having counterplay isn't an opinion, it's objective.

I don't need a compelling argument, nor do I have the time to make one. That's not my job. If you want someone to do that then go to Scott Jund.

As many have tried to explain to you there are counters against Spirit. Your claim other wise raises questions on the validity of everything you have said. Do you have a source that Scott Lund and the others would agree you as well as game footage of you and a match to back you up?

Or perhaps you could invite some of us to a match so we could see first hand. The survivors using there counters and you showing us how you overcome them. The match could be streamed and recorded.

I'm not a very strong player ... I navigate between rank 2 and rank 5 playing 2 or 3 times a week. tonight I start dbd and read the news of the new matchmaking. 3 games in a row combined with ranks 19 and 20 ... impossible to play! people hiding in lockers who don't make generators ... people who don't save you from the hook ... honestly I prefer to play with the old matchmaking!

During the last MMR test there were several times that I was matched with killers in the purple and red ranks. They did not play as a killer of those ranks however. They played on a level more consistent with the skill my and the other survivors skill level our ranks being between 12 and 14.

I have yet to playa match during this test however it if it is like the last one it seems like it is working. Catching those who's have achieved ranks inconsistent with there skill level and properly matching killers and survivors together based on their actual skill level.

  • @CoalTower said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256043#Comment_2256043

Doesn't matter. These things mean nothing to even semi decent spirits

I will have to disagree. Can't tell you how many times I have gone through a match without being caught by a killer playing the Spirit until after all the other survivors have been sacrificed if it even gets tot he point the other survivors get sacrificed. Even against purple and red rank killers.

It's not like I am hiding and not doing the generators or anything either. I just don't run if I hear the sound of the spirit approaching while phased. I crouch and start moving away. Easier to do if another survivor is present and runs however it works a lot of the time even if I am alone on a generator.

When going against eh Spirit I usually see the match end in one the following ways.

    • The generators get repaired and at least some(or all) of the survivors escape,
    • The other survivors get sacrificed(or disconnect). I find the hatch and escape.
    • The other survivors get sacrificed(or disconnect). The killer finds the hatch and closes it, catches me before I can open an exit gate and I get sacrificed.
    • The killer lets me go.
  • Spirit is not that hard to counter. I play Spirit on occasion and it is surprising the number of times survivors give away there location by not doing a pretty straightforward counter. Just don't run. It's like they are in such a hurry to gen rush they don't want to do something as simple as not run.

Survivors playing as Claudette can be downright humorous. They have a tendency to give away there location more than someone playing as any other survivor. Perhaps they are just overconfident.

Getting caught in a loop is also not that hard to counter. If she stops chasing and stands still immediately leave the loop.

  • If you are referring to survivors who bodyblock I find the perk Starstruck pretty effective in dealing with survivors who bodyblock.

If you are referring to a killer who it depends on if the survivors can finish the match in some way whether it be by going through escaping or by being sacrificed by the killer. The video linked below shows an example killer holding a match hostage by bodyblocking.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVkJzaZVTVw

  • Not cleansing them as you find them is risky. If the killer is able to get to any remaining survivors before any of them can get back to the totem then it is potentially match over for that survivor. Many survivors won't risk rescuing a survivor while NOED is active. if the killer is running Blood Warden then things have have become worse.

  • As a survivor I find there are better perks to use the slot on. As a killer granted at times helps the survivor however I find many times it just slows things down however it the end it doesn't help the survivors that much. Especially if the other survivors aren't doing very well in the match.

  • @Lx_malice said:

It's not my internet. It's the same as it's always been. 30mbps up and 6 down. I'm rubberbanding in my games and it's making killer practically unplayable. Playing Apex now without any issues so it's gotta be the servers or something.

Run traceroute to determine where your are lagging.

  • @IAmShadowZzz said:

If you're playing killer, and camping the hatch against the last person alive. Does that count as holding the game hostage? You're forcing them to do Gen's revealing their position or they give up and try to get hatch. But since the game can technically still end if they were to do Gen's, does that count as holding the game hostage?

No it isn't considered holding the game hostage. You can still finish the match.

This video shows an example of a killer holding the game hostage. With the killer blocking them the survivors are unable to complete the objectives and finish the match.

Hag. I've said it once, I'll say it again.

I would rather go against a Spirit with her best add-ons, best perks, and sweatiest playstyle than a single normal Hag.

I also find Hag is tougher to go against hen Spirit.

I don't know why so many people hate going against Spirit. She is considerably easier to lose in a chase than several of the other killers. Maybe it is because they want to gen rush and running when the killer is the Spirit makes it easier for her to catch them.

Now, I don't wanna hear any of that 'slugging is a legit tactic and sometimes necessary' stuff. This is about people who go and slug right from the start, leaving people to bleed out. maybe with the exception of the obsession for the extra points. and of course they'll go and knock down anyone with UB immediately.

Cause by all means that is holding the game hostage, which is banable iirc.

This video shows a killer holding the game hostage.

Slugging is annoying for survivors granted however has many have match will still end. One would hope that the other survivors will come and heal you.

As a killer I personally won't leave them on the ground without a reason. Such as if I see another survivor. Like this morning I had one on the hook and deadly wounded another one that was immediately trying to get them off the hook and went after a third that was also right there. (Got to love SWF right? I love the Starstruck perk.) I didn't leave the second one on the ground very long. Didn't take long to deadly wound the third. Hooked that one then came back and hooked the second one.

Spirit is broken killer, she is only one who has not counterplay. She needs some nerfs. I mean do not nerf her powers. Just add some counterplays, make her balance and then we all can be happy.

Who saying Spirit is not hard, they never played against good Spirit. I faced with so many God Nurses and i lost mot matches againts her but i never felt powerles but good Spirits gives me that feel.

There are counter plays against the Spirit. For example when using haunting she moves fast but can't see the survivors. Only the scratch marks. Counter for that would to not leave scratch marks, once your not running and leaving scratch marks change direction.

I find Spirit is easier to counter than the Cannibal and he isn't that hard to counter.

So you counter spirit by not looping? Gods why didn’t I think of that

I didn't say not looping. If you see Spirit standing still suddenly then leave that loop. You can still loop with that killer.

  • @glitchboi said:

Show us your ways. Do the Scott Jund Spirit counterplay challenge.

    The what challenge?

  • As with many things it works better on some maps then others. It is a good general strategy to use but shouldn't be the only strategy you should use. Combine it with others strategies once you stop running like turning changing direction or even turning back the way you just came so your retracing your steps.

When I play as Spirit the biggest thing I notice is that survivors are predictable. If your going against Spirit be unpredictable. Don't run if you hear the haunting sound. Don't loop the same spot for long. Don't do what you would do when going against other killers. Be as unpredictable as possible.

  • There are several ways to counter Spirit. I also play both roles and biggest mistake I see is survivors running while the killer is using haunting. The next biggest mistake would be survivors looping. Both of which can be countered. I don't see other survivors use the counters very often.

  • It's not necessarily the game causing the lag. If it was the game it would seem more people who play on PC would experience it and it plays fine for me on PC.

Could be on any of the hops between you and the game server. Run a traceroute to locate where the problem is.

  • Not necessarily the game server causing the issue. I'm not currently having any issues playing. It could be any of the hops between you and the game server. Run a traceroute.

They're probably either 1. new to the game or 2. trying to be toxic and bm the killer

I should have checked the rank of the survivor I didn't think of that. Not the worse outcome I have seen from survivors hanging out in the exit gates but it is in the top 10.

  • @SeannyD115 said:

I had two games back to back against a full team with breakdown and they removed all the hooks on one side of the map so you were forced to slug them to death. They were fully aware of the hook exploit and took an advantage of it by running to the side of the map with no hooks.

If see this when playing killer I just stop doing anything and go watch a video or read a book until the match is finished. Be nice if it is fixed soon.

  • I find DH to be a waste of a perk slot. Frequently the killer gets you anyways and there are better choices for one of the 4 perk slots.

  • Why do people even have chat open at the end of the match anymore? It is so toxic that there is little point other than to see people rant about "unfair" the match was for them.

  • I have a simple idea. How about cleaning totems?

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/243032/nothing-says-i-have-no-skill-more-so-than-noed

If only there was a way to prevent NOED from happening.

I had the same happen though, someone raged at me for NOED. My build?

    • Blood Warden
    • NOED
    • Remember Me
    • Bitter Murmer

Notice how i played an entire game basically without perks other than bitter murmer, and then endgame happens and they get mad that NOED is in play.

I love using Blood Warden with NOED. Sometimes it is a waste. Their are times it is worth it though. Survivors hanging out in the exit gate and you get one hooked using NOED. The ones hanging around have possibly run into a problem when the exit is suddenly blocked off. If the basement is nearby or there are enough empty hooks then that 60 seconds can seem like an eternity. And to think it could have all been prevented by cleansing the totems.

  • It's not just about skill. It's about patience, tactics and using the survivors over confidence against them. The most patient killers are often the ones that get rewarded and this is a good example of that.

The survivors that chose not do the totems take the risk. At times I have downed as many three survivors using NOED(sometimes with the help of Blood Warden) because I waited. They get overconfident thinking they "got" this and are going to escape. As you can imagine It can make the after match chat a bit interesting.

I'm guessing the OP may have been one of those taken down by a Killer using NOED. Thought they were going to escape and instead was sacrificed. Perhaps they were in a SWF and lost more then one survivor to it. It's not necessarily a lack of skill thing on the Killers part. Waiting till the end can be a good strategy.

  • And the Overlook Hotel(Kubrick's Version) and The Maze as a map would be awesome as a map.

    Howdy y'all.

I got a question and was hoping for an explation.

I just got to rank 8 and started a new game. We went against the plague. I spent the game doing gens, opening a chest, not much cleansing since we didn't want to give her red vomit.

I ended up escaping but it showed I deranked and I really don't understand why. I kinda want to assume its a bug issue, but if not someone let me know why I deranked : , )

It's not just the things you do. Some things that you don't do(such as for example unhooking a survivor but not doing it safely) can negatively affect which Emblem you get in a category.

So, i finished a game and i was one away from a 2 pip. When i left, it showed i was rank 14. After that game, i faced a pig, and i did the equivalant and 2 and 3/4 gens, cleansed 2 totems, unhooked once, didnt get to chase for long, but i escaped. I was running dead hard, ds, iron will, and self care. Are any of these perks bugged, or is rank bugged?

There are things that can negatively impact what Emblem and in turn if you get a pip or not. Such as how many survivors were hooked? Or did you try to unhook someone that didn't result in a safely being unhooked?

  • I was stunned by a pallet at least once last night. How is it bugged?

  • @Ihatetoxicsurvivors said:

This game is to broken to have a feature like this, with the camping, tunneling, crashes, network issues and toxicity, it just doesn't work. There is an alternative to a dc for survivors anyway so what's the point of having a dc penalty when it's the only way for killers (one of the only ways for survivors) to leave a boring unfun match. Either take your report system seriesly and take out dc penalty, or just remove it. I don't feel like waiting an hour after my Internet cuts out to play another match.

The game is not too broken to have this. None of the issues you listed are valid reasons to disconnect in the middle of the match. Not even the game crashes or network issues. If your up to an hour then either your system or network is not adequate for the game or your not being honest about the reason behind your disconnects.

If your having issues with your connection it is on your end or somewhere in between you and the game servers. Use a trace route to locate where it is happening. If it was the game servers more players would be having the issue which is not the case.

Same thing with game crashes. If it was a problem with the game more players would be experiencing it which is also not the case.

The DC penalty does what it was designed for well. When I disconnect I normally get 5 minutes and I have never had longer than 15 minutes. If there is a problem with internet or in one of the hops between me and the game servers I wait until it is fixed/resolved. The same thing with if I am having a system issue. Whether it be hardware or a software issue I resolve it before playing. If I were to still play with either of those situations and I disconnect it is my fault and the penalty is warranted.

  • More like enjoy their ban for rage quitting. I'm guessing they aren't the rank that listed and as such aren't that good at playing hence the rage quit.

"gg ez" is something they put in that they think will aggravate the killer. Funny thing is that either the killer won't see it because they don't use the end match chat or that it was become a staple abbrev used by those who don't have the an actual skill level that corresponds with the rank they are listed at.

These players are going to love MMR when it becomes completely live. During the last test of MMR at survivor rank 14 we were getting killers ranking in the higher ranks of 2, 3 or 4 that were worse at being killer than those at 14 or 15.

  • @MerryJuanNa said:

that would basically be like giving the solo q player a 5th perk, however they do need to bridge the gap, i suggest adding in game voice chat that would get rid of the problem without giving them an unfair advantage

I would just turn off in game voice and not use it if it was put in the game. Games that use it(like Friday The 13th) are more toxic due to it. I have heard they won't add it anyways which I find a good thing once again due to the toxicity.

Yeah but 6 hours over 3 DCs in a one week span? I’d get it if it was 1-2 hours maybe even 3 but 6? Over an accidental disconnect on a match we were winning on? And it’s not like my connection is trash cause whenever I check it everything is perfectly fine and it never does this on any other game.

You have to play a total of 12 hours in a matches without disconnecting for it to reset ban timer to zero.

As for getting 6 hours if you have been rage quitting you deserve the longer ban. Rage quitting negatively affects the match both the killer and the other survivors.

I just finished a game with a doc.

My mates and i were doing good all were alive and the doors were opened when the killer (doc) decided to go for the fix kill and facecamp. We ran to him tried to unhook without getting grabbed until the doc started spamming his power and NO ONE WAS ABLE TO UNHOOK. It always interupted us when we were about 80%. Then after the cooldown where you can't do anything after being shooled i went straight for the unhook but it was just impossible to save him and he died on the hook.

SO WHY CAN DOC SPAM HIS ABILITY LIKE THAT AND MAKE IT LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO UNHOOK?

I know some are gonna say: "UHHHH Just bring calm spirit EVERY GAME in case there is a facecamping doctor" but that's what they always say with every killer and unfortunately i don't have 20 Perk slots to counter every killer

It's possible. Just time it to be between the energy discharge. Easier if multiple survivors are trying as the others can stay out of the discharges area of effect.

They may not know what to do.. But I've slammed a gen before and dealt with taking it off once the timer started from completing it. I'm more annoyed that traps continue to tick. Even if you're being chased. I know pig isn't the strongest. But I don't feel like it's unfair if you can tunnel a survivor and make it so they can't get the trap off before the timer pops. I almost feel like it should be paused if you're in chase.

The timer does pause when being chased by the killer.

Yes, but before you would be able to play the game normally. At worst you got kicked out when the game ended.

Now you get kicked midgame, including a DC-Penalty.

That's why I wait on the main menu(if I remember). Five minutes isn't that bad of a wait for me when I forget.
