  • True. Whenever I start playing killer again (for challenges) I usually equip shadowborn for a few games after I remember just how bad the killer FOV is.

  • Thanks very much.

  • Do you console players have graphic options? Perhaps the option at playing at low settings would be good to have? At least then you can get better FPS. Obviously optimizing the game would be good too.

I've always played the game at low settings and it's not even bad graphics imo. Even when I upgrade my PC to an RTX GPU I'll still play at low graphics for the FPS and its advantage.

  • Scrolled through my public steam screenshots and found these!

The Dwight one always gets me.

There's no reason to have profile comments open to public tbh.

I actually enjoy steam comments on my profile, good or bad. All of them are funny to look back on. Like this one:

    image.png

I made the mistake of deleting almost all of my steam comments from 2016 DBD and I regret that very much.

  • 1. Reduce the gap between SWF and solos. Even if it's little things like letting us see other survivors perks, items and addons when pressing ESC in-game, for example.

    2. Introduce a good matchmaking system. I hear about it every now and then but it's never implemented.

    3. Slow down on DLCs and focus more on the games health. The Twins release was a complete mess and The Trickster is the worst killer in the game.

    4. Reduce rift and bloodweb grind.

    5. Buff under used/never used perks like Camaraderie. I bet a bunch of people even forget that perk exists.

    6. Let us play KYF by ourselves just to simply explore new maps, practise looping or whatever.

Edit: also I just reread the title but oh well. There's 6 for you.

  • Probably Billy pre-nerf. Was very rare, but I'd sometimes encounter space program Billy's. Always funny to watch.

Playing a single survivor game and a single killer game every day will give you much more progress than playing the same amount of games in a single day. You lose out on the first survivor/killer game of the day bonus to rift progression.

That's interesting, I never knew about this. This will be helpful for the next rift. Do you know exactly how much of a bonus it gives to the rift progression?

  • The biggest problem with NOED is that you can never know for sure if a killer is running it or not (with some small exceptions). So it's always the best decision to power through gens, especially as solo players. If you treat every game as if the killer has NOED you'll waste a lot of time cleansing, with no benefit gameplay wise except if the killer is actually running NOED.

The only time when you should think about cleansing is if the game is clearly in your favour or if you've got totem related perks... or if you want some extra boldness BP.

  • It's completely pointless so I never do. If another player played well and it was a good game I'll say gg. If it was a really fun game I might go on their profile if they're on steam and leave one of those +rep comments. That's almost pointless too, but slightly less so.

  • That would fix the problem, but it'd create another big problem. Survivors denying unhooks just to grief.

I do agree with the HUD suggestion though so you know if someone has BT. They should really just let you see the full load out of other survivors. If it's too cramped in the normal HUD add it to the ESC button interface.

  • I bought the premium pass. I believe I bought 18 tiers as well as enough auric cells left over to purchase the next premium rift. Got to tier 52 after completing all but 2 challenges... this is the first rift where I've bought auric cells to finish it.

I think there was 3 Claud skins I gained from purchasing the last 18 tiers. I main Claudette so I'm happy with that.

  • Survivors really are desperate to complete that 'Heroic Cause' empathy pickup challenge...

  • Yea, I hope they release more 1st person mori's.

  • @Hassaku said:

Why do i keep getting green or higher rarity items from chests? I don't remember when i got my last brown toolbox or medkit from chest... Is it that I'm insanly lucky or do you experience the same thing?

Apparently chest item rarities are bugged atm. People are saying that survivors basically have built-in plunderers instinct levels of chest item luck.

  • Not going to lie, yesterday I shamefully bought auric cells to finish the rest of the rift and to have enough to purchase the next premium pass. I haven't been in the mood to play DBD recently but have played it anyway to progress through the rift. I completed ALL but 2 challenges. I think I got to tier 52.

I knew even before I bought more auric cells to finish the rift that that is what BHVR is hoping players do out of fear of missing out. But I did so anyway. Every other rift I've finished. This rift is definitely too grindy.

  • That's cool. Can't say I'm a huge RE fan but I did play Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and that was a really great game.

  • At red ranks, I have survivors I'm playing with when sick cleanse when they aren't even close to being in the broken state. They then start repairing an infected gen or unhook an infected survivor and the process repeats itself. It's awful.

In my last plague match I even had a survivor fully self care when in the sick state only then to immediately go into the broken, injured state. The problems to all of this simply comes down to the broken ranking system.

  • I realize the patch notes say that BT doesn't require a TR to activate anymore. Are people just presuming that there isn't another condition such as the killer having to be e.g. 12/14/16 meters close to the hook? Or is it confirmed that it does activate no matter where the killer is?

  • sigh looks like I'll have to update my how to counter borrowed time guide... /s

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8HihqfXc_o

But seriously, a welcome change. It never really made any sense that certain killers could still camp for being... certain killers.

  • You made a great decision!

  • If these players are necessary for the production of profitable content, I think it is only fair they receive a portion of the streamer's compensation.

This has to be bait. Could you imagine if this was the case? 99% of *gaming* content on platforms like YouTube and Twitch would just be people playing single player games. Thinking that this is in any way doable, practical or necessary is mind-boggling to me.

  • The problem is that not bringing DS (an anti-tunnel perk) or another obsession perk directly encourages tunneling. Survivors therefore not only don't have the benefit of DS, but are actually further punished for not using it.

In solo queue you have no idea what perks the other survivors are using. If they're on a different platform to you, you can't even ask. So the question really is "Do I want to bring DS with me every game or risk there being no obsession and therefore encourage tunneling".

I've used DS I believe once since its nerf. The amount of solo games I've played with no obsession is really frustrating. Are we really at the point where killers are telling us to bring DS? There's got to be something wrong with that logic.

Oh god, I had forgotten about the original McCote meme that we made him eat and never forget. You know how we say "Pretty good job so far" now adays? Back then it was "I mean, you have to have skill to pull off anything resembling an infinite". My god, we never made him forget that back then, especially once we started showing the devs the video evidence that true infinite loops really did exist in the game back then.

I can never find the originals, yet I uploaded two videos about him saying infinites are a mind game. Second one is a bad edit, but here they are in all their glory:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9IFjDFdHhI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emYOoMJPVTE
  • Yes it was. I'll presume you're talking about 2016-2017ish. I'll write a list:

    • Bloodlust didn't exist
    • Killers vaulted windows extremely slowly
    • Infinites existed.
    • No window blockers
    • Decisive Strike could be used whenever picked up. Killers would have to juggle survivors to a nearby hook to avoid the stun.
    • Jungle gyms had 2 windows, 2 pallets.
    • Vacuum pallets were a really big problem. Imagine trying to catch a survivor at a jungle gym with 2 pallets and 2 windows. If you weren't RIGHT behind them, they'd just vacuum to a window/pallet.
    • Old BT. Protected the unhooker and the hooked survivor.
    • No regression on gens.
    • Old sabo. Hooks wouldn't respawn, you had to slug survivors to death. Iron Grasp was a requirement. Agitation also just to make sure you could make it to the basement. Also you're going to want to bring Brutal Strength and Enduring because of all of the pallets.
    • Instant flashlights. Carrying a survivor? Well you could be blinded in a few miliseconds, with basically no time to react. Say bye to the survivor.
    • Instant Medkit addon. Instant gen (Brand New Part).
    • A ton of pallets
    • EGC didn't exist. Meaning, if a survivor stayed at an infinite. You basically HAD to quit or AFK until they left, if they ever did.
    • Pickup animation used to be really slow. Easy to line up flashlight saves.
    • Trapper used to take like 5 seconds or more to place a trap. His traps could be saboed and would never return, making him an m1 killer.
    • Gen speeds used to be REALLY, really fast.
    • Hatch stand off existed. Who will press M1 first?

Note: Not all of these things existed at the same time. But I've listed a bunch of stuff which made life as a killer miserable back in the day. I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff I missed, too.

Not to mention us killer mains back then had to put up with comments from a certain lead developer back then saying (and I paraphrase) "you have to be so good to do anything resembling, infinite juke... most of the time they waste a few seconds... MAYBE a minute".

Source: Was a killer main during this time.

Edit: Also I might add more to the list as I think of them.

I see. Thank you for your answer. It is not every day I have to chance to talk to an actual Legacy player and I believe this specific topic should be discussed more often.

If you don't mind another question, what if they were reintroduced, but not given out to everyone? What if there was a new way to earn them? Like going through the old Bloodweb again, for example.

Would that make things better? Or it still wouldn't be fair?

I'm all for people getting some kind of exclusive for doing things like going through the old bloodweb, as you mentioned. But even if players could somehow play the old broken dbd with infinites, no exhaustion, vacuum pallets, vacuum windows, jungle gym infinites, pallet towns, broken lobbies where you had to ready up every 5 seconds with swf, old sabo, etc etc I still wouldn't want them to get the original legacy.

It was a reward for players in 2016 that played a really broken game... but we still loved to play it! I think that giving it out in any form would make it lose its purpose. My stance is firm about this. Legacy shouldn't be returned to players that didn't earn it in 2016, at all.

I realize you might have wanted a different response, but those are my thoughts on the matter.

I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been. I first started playing DBD on 2018, so Legacy was way before my time. But grinding through the old Bloodweb for a exclusive only to lose it in the end is disheartening.

If I may ask, as someone who lost their Legacy, what is your opinion on the current state of such skins?

Do you think they should return somehow? Meaning that you and everyone who wasn't playing back them will have a chance to get it.

Or do you think they should remain exclusive? Which probably means that no one else will ever get them, no matter if they were playing back then or not.

Personally, even though I lost my legacy skins I wouldn't want them to be reintroduced for everyone that never earned them. I play DBD with my brother a lot and he still has his L3 Meg. I feel if it was given out to everyone, it'd be a big kick in the teeth to older players that have legacy, as they were always said to be exclusive.

If the developers promote things as being exclusive, they should stay exclusive. Not only did I lose my legacy but other exclusives from 2016 I had like Science Fair Claudette, Street Meg etc were given away to everyone. Quite frustrating.

Edit: That being said, I have no problem with likewise exclusives that people want introduced into the game, such as Blue variants of legacy, as long as the original legacy is not given away.

Oh, I am really sorry for you, my friend. I've heard a lot about this glitch with the saved data that used to happen back in the day.

    Let me guess, lost Legacy?

Yeah... lost my L3 Hillbilly and Claud and never got them refunded. :/

  • I feel like this issue was dealt with a while ago by the devs, which helped make gen tapping gens with old ruin an alright(ish) strat if you couldn't hit great skill checks.

So the mechanic is already there and should perhaps be tweaked a little bit more to be more lenient. Or perhaps the devs could make it so you can still hit a skill check when you're off the gen anyway, like with overcharge.

  • I've lost all my progress before and was simply demotivated by the fact I had to spent I think it was 156 mil BP. This was also when spending BP took longer. It was so draining I had to spend hours and hours doing it, I didn't play for weeks.

So I imagine in the situation you described I'd take a really long break and probably come back. However instead of trying to get every perk on every survivor/killer, I'd just focus on what I really need. Just one maxed out survivor. A few maxed out killers that I enjoy playing. I likely wouldn't have the motivation to do much more than that. But, who knows.

  • Personally I find it sad that old maps are being overhauled. I understand this is probably an unpopular opinion and acknowledge it's healthy for the longevity of the game. But, this is the last original realm that I reminisce. It'll be sad when there'll be no original realms with their original graphics to play on anymore.

The original realms, Autohaven Wreckers, Coldwind farm and Macmillan have *almost* always been my favourite.

  • It's a shame F13 has an on going lawsuit because I found it quite fun to play on occasion.

It has its problems, but I still sinked 100+ hours into it for a few months after release. Now, that's nothing compared to my hours in dbd but I honestly believe I'd have at least a few hundred hours by this point if it wasn't for the lawsuit stopping new content and deterring the Devs from actually improving the game.

  • I haven't been using it but I used to use it the vast majority of the time before it was nerfed.

I mostly play SWF with my brother and we've both simply agreed to replace DS with BT. So as long as we save each other, we're ok. But I can imagine in solo queue I might start using DS again because I'd have to depend on randoms to use BT... which they don't always use, of course.

Interestingly, the vast, vast majority of the games I've played have had no obsession. So killers don't respect the potential DS anymore. I think the devs should remove DS from being obsession related to counteract this.

  • Other pipe dreams:

    • More settings so we don't have to change them in the files, like turning on/off VSync.
    • Recurring developer Q&A stream at least every 1-2 months.
    • Fewer bugs.
  • @AnchorTea said:

Nobody has mentioned that this could lead into potential perks in the future. Imagine a perk that slows the struggle process based off of tokens. Removing the skills checks as an added bonus.

There's already a perk that pauses the hook timer when another survivor is nearby when in second stage.

While you are on the Hook in the Struggle Phase, Camaraderie activates. If another Survivor is within 16 metres of your Hook while Camaraderie is active, the Struggle Phase timer is paused for 26/30/34 seconds. (Source: dbd Wiki).

Really bad and situational perk though. Could be handy with a few buffs that don't require another survivor to be nearby though.

Also, I thought this post was a joke before clicking on it but I am pleasantly surprised!

  • The return of legacy skins to people like me who lost them. Definitely a pipe dream.

  • Yeah... I'll say to myself "today's the day I finish the tome" and then after 2 or 3 games I'm really struggling to keep playing when playing solo or killer.

It doesn't help that many of the challenges aren't actually challenges and should be renamed to "Play 3/4/5/6 games of survivor/killer".

  • So there is a benefit to playing him after all

  • @BrokenSouI said:

I don't think you understand how lag switching works. It can't be done to dedicated servers.

In theory, if you have a bad internet connection as killer, the server won't register some of your hits if it deems that you actually shouldn't have hit the survivor. That sounds like what is happening with you, although you haven't really gone in depth.

  • It may well be an issue on your end if it is happening often. If so, an ethernet cable is a good place to start.

  • Borrowed Time, unbreakable, adrenaline. If you want to go off meta a bit and are solo queuing you could try using bond.

I usually just default to kindred when solo but have changed to bond recently, but either will do.

  • Not completely sure how it works. But I wonder if it would work if a killer picks up a survivor and immediately drops them?

If so it could be a niche slugging perk for high mobility killers like nurse. Combined with infectious fright and you'll have a good idea where survivors around you are (if any) and would help judge whether they are in range to be exposed.

  • @Mooks said:

May I ask you guys since I can’t test until later: were words like „myers“ „insta“ or such censored from the beginning or did you actually try to mess around with the filter before?

because the system gets more strict for a user the more one user uses „bad“ terms.

I tried a few here after my first game today. None of them are blocked for me, currently.

    image.png

    Weird.

  • Has anyone checked if there's a value we can change in the GameUserSettints doc?

Please allow us to toggle this off/on.

  • Does he generate BP easily? If so I might play him just for that whilst also (unintentionally) depipping since I only play killer for the challenges and am creeping into red ranks (which is... not preferable or very enjoyable).

  • I feel the same way. Solo queue is awful.

I've had maybe 1 good survivor today when playing solo queue. I watched one of my fellow survivor stream back (bear in mind I am rank 1) and they:

Didn't realize the map they were on didn't have a main building. They don't look behind them in a chase. The first pallet they pulled down was the shack pallet in which they camped for 5 seconds before pulling down. They camped every pallet in this way. They wasted 5 mins looking for hatch to escape via a key... when there was still 4 survivors left and 2 gens.

Other teammate crouched behind trees around the corners of the map.

The main reason I win games in solo queue is because either A the killer chases me for long periods or B the killer is also terrible.

This shouldn't be the case at red ranks! Now I know this is a bit of a rant but this is the case every single game. I go into lobbies and stare at default skinned players in dread. Knowing that if the killer isn't equally Pepega we've lost for sure. Or I cheap out with a hatch escape.

In a week or 2 I'll have had enough of this cycle and take another break, probably. But at least I'm lucky I usually have my brother to play dbd with.

  • To me, whispers is a must perk at the lower ranks where survivors are hiding all game. It's also great at the higher ranks for the reasons you stated.

At the moment I'm using it no matter which killer I play. I always feel nervous about survivors potentially taking the game hostage and hiding to heavily prolong the game (from past experience!), so whispers is awesome.

I'm grinding challenges at the moment and whispers has been great for always getting the 4k for challenges that require sacrifices/hooks.

    https://youtu.be/WyRu6o7FaIc?t=9

    :)

  • Uhh... guys why do I see the killers aura when a gen pops? I don't have dark sense equipped.

    Oh... oh no...
