It's great. I prefer original chapters over licensed chapters.
Licensed chapters:
- Can't purchase chapter with shards. It's paid.
- Can't purchase any skins with shards. They're all paid.
- Less skins to choose from.
Original chapters:
- Free (with shards).
- Often have many skins purchasable with shards (free).
- More skins to choose from.

I did submit a ticket, but all I get is a Sorry for the inconvenience and here are some bloodpoints to shut you up.
After unlinking I also lost everything. Every single purchase I made with shards and cells from 3 years to now are gone. I highly doubt that I could get them back. I lose faith in this company day by day.
Wow. Some people may think it's unbelievable a company acts this way towards its player base, but BHVR has been getting away with this kind of thing for years. It's not a one off thing. Was a similar situation when people were losing their legacy skins YEARS AGO (I'm talking from literally 2016 and onward). But your situation is even worse because they not only essentially wiped all your time spent in-game progressing, but also wiped things you bought with auric cells (which are bought with real money).
BHVR really has little respect for their player base. That's awful. Really hope BHVR refunds your goods. Good luck.

When I first started playing I "mained" Jake because me and my friends wanted all of us to play different survivors. I had a fun time shamelessly saboing hooks that never respawned. However at about lvl 50 I really wanted to switch to Claudette because of how immersed she could become when prestiged. This was about the time Uber prestige was being discussed on the dev streams (now known as legacy prestige). So it was the perfect time to start prestiging for that 'uber prestige skins' too.
I therefore took the plunge (despite my friend not liking me being the same character as them) and spent ages prestiging Claud to P3. Happy I did so because now that I have more experience, the POV difference and size of women/men in DBD is stark.

It'd be nice to communicate with console players. All you can do now is add as an in-game friend and that's all of the communication you get.
When I used to play on console I used a chatpad (mini keyboard on the controller) so if console players really wanted to communicate semi-fast they can. For those that really don't want to see chat, they should implement an actual option in the settings to have it off by default.
-
I've got 123 achievements. Last time I went for an achievement was in 2018 when I forgot I hadn't gotten Dwight's adept in 2016 along with every other original killer and survivor's adept achievements.
I don't bother with achievements.

For every bug that is fixed, two more are created.

I played one match of killer about a week ago. My last match before that must have been at least 2-3 weeks. I really, really dislike the new HUD and survivor animations and despite usually coming back on for a new rift, I'm not inclined to do so due to the current state of the game.
I really don't like all these core changes.
-
I've never watched a DBD tournament before, I've heard they have some weird win conditions and so players play strangely. Is this still the case?

Wait we link accounts now? To what?
You probably shouldn't, I've seen posts/comments where people supposedly lose progress due to an account link bug and aren't refunded. I've been lucky so far, though.
-
I can definitely see them at least removing the invulnerability aspect of the perk (when it works).
-
I actually quite like the idea, although am a bit skeptical on how much will be censored. I also hope that the chat does not somehow gain any bugs... somehow.
-
Spirit. Every time I play against a spirit player it's hard to ignore the passive stuff she has which (in my eyes) leads to free hits on occassion. I'm talking about passive phasing around a small loop and the stand still 'mindgame'.
I don't like her actual power, either. But it is the passives she gets which I find most annoying.
But at least some of her old passives no longer exist, aka window 'mindgame' and the collision whilst phasing.

you won't have the ability to turn it off no. You can still report people for chat offences, as we will see the actual words used, if you believe someone has used a bad slur against you or something.
Wouldn't this increase so called false reports though? If I think someone said something racist, but am not 100% sure would I be false reporting them if it turns out they didn't?
-
I'd actually quite like that but it wouldn't fit with the sacrifice for the entity lore stuff, I guess. Edit: I mean if it was done all the time. Mori's aren't an every game thing.

Not really interested in that, nor do I ultimately care if they left so fast either. Just thought it a little strange that nobody even tried to get even a little more bloodpoints out of it, like the usual “run me around the exit until I get a hit in” bit.
I've been in this situation before as a survivor... many times! I don't want to farm, I want actual matches. So if a killer tries to farm I'll do gens asap and leave. It's not all about bloodpoints, I play the game for fun. There is no fun in farming.
That's why I don't hang around at the exit either. After a few boring mins playing gen simulator, I don't want to waste anymore of my time and so beeline to an exit gate and leave asap to try and find a more enjoyable game.

Survivor: Claudette
Killer: Don't really main a killer. I usually go for the more M1 style killers that still have double BP offerings.
-
The thing is, no one asked for big UI changes or animation changes. What's worse is that the new animation in addition to this hixboxes are even worse than usual.
So basically they changed 2 core things we didn't want changed (and did a poor job with them) and on top of that broke the game via poor hitboxes.
Also you suggesting that every other game has major bugs after every other patch is not the case. At least with this size of a company. Other big game developers have a good quality assurance team and do not push (especially knowingly) broken patches out to the public (remember all the issues with the last chapter, The Twins and the perks?). The developers have consistently been sending out broken versions of the game.
-
Yui simply because of Any Means Necessary. It's definitely not a meta perk, but it's a nice perk to have and gives you boldness points.
For me, being able to reset pallets is just awesome.
-
Well me and my brother normally play DBD again after a new tome comes out. This time we haven't played one game of survivor (just one game as killer). We hate the principle of the new animation changes, new UI and of course don't want to play with an even worse hitbox. I really don't like seemingly EVERY core thing in this game we've known for years changing. No one asked for these changes.
We might play a game or 2 to get 1 event toolbox if we can't get one with our remaining BP. I don't see us playing much anytime soon.
TLDR: We're not currently playing because we don't like these changes.
-
Although you've outlined some ways to stop the abuse of this system by resuming the hook stage if in a chase and being able to grab survivors near a hook, it just feels awkward and there's bound to be a way to abuse it.
For example from the top of my head, what if a nurse continually blinks in and out of the radius? She can hold her blink just outside of the radius, if someone comes close to the 2m mark of the hook, she blinks in and goes for the grab. If they run, she blinks out again and rinse and repeat. It may well be impossible to save the survivor without trading.
-
It really depends on the map, the killer, the killers skill, whether you SWF or solo, if you have good teammates, whether you use meta perks, whether you want the killer to chase you or you immerse for hatch, etc.
But generally, I'd say survivor is easier. You don't have to think constantly like you do as killer and can chill on gens and may not even be chased sometimes.
-
I very much doubt flashlights were made simply for flashlight saves, as you suggest. If you use a headset, after been blinded at a pallet/window you can track the survivor, so it's actually better that you are blinded so they don't get so much distance.
Also using a flashlight to blind a killer isn't "BM" as you said. It would only be BM if they were clicking it all the time. Try to track survivors better when flashed and you can use it to your advantage. Remember to look straight up/down to avoid chain blinds.
-
Was planning on coming back on DBD for the new rift as usual but with all of these animations and UI changes as well as all the increased complaints about hitboxes, it's discouraging.
Hopefully these issues are resolved soon.
-
They tried to fix something that didn't need fixing and made it a lot worse.
Out of all of the complaining the community does, I didn't see anyone complaining about the old UI. The change is completely unnecessary. Same with animations, another unnecessary change.
Its like the Devs hate the game that we've played and loved for years. First graphical overhauls of maps. Which is fine, but many are too dark now. It would also be nice to keep an old map or 2 as is for nostalgic reasons (with minor balancing tweaks). Then the flashlight animation change that no one asked for. Now survivor animation, perspective and UI changes no one asked for.
All of these core changes add up and make the game feel less familiar to me.
Next they'll overhaul The Trapper into Jason.
-
That's a big ask as a few years ago the developers (understandably) didn't want to deal with adjusting the lighting of all maps due to now retired dark and bright moonlight offerings. So I doubt offerings like these would ever be a thing.
-
Don't think it's that good of a perk, but I have used it a few times. It can work sometimes, but can also work against you.
My worst experience with it was when I wanted to use it but another survivor was also on the gen so I couldn't. I had to wait until the killer was right behind me before the other survivor let go. So they had a free m1.
So definitely not the best, particularly in solo queue.
-
Good change. Although making DS no longer an obsession perk would have been even better. The game shouldn't encourage tunneling simply because you haven't equipped DS by essentially informing the killer no one is using it.
-
That post game chat should be removed, despite the fact that you can hide it if you don't like it.
-
Same as you, CS:GO.
-
Discovered DBD because my friend told me about it. First person I watched was Tru3Ta1ent. So I knew how to play the game as killer because of him, although honestly doubt I was any good back then.
I don't remember watching a huge amount of survivor based YouTubers/Twitchers back then, but I did eventually start watching Jendenise, Pickledream, etc but avoided 72hrs (and that other guy beginning with an O) because I felt they were a little too toxic (as a killer main back then!).
Funnily enough I don't remember watching any kind of tutorial style video until last year, where I've looked at some tutorials at how to consistently fast vault windows at difficult angles.
-
The Matchmaking system. Playing solo queue is horrible with the potato survivors you have to play with.
-
A killer that is determined to 3 gen can do so from the start of the game, so sometimes it's fine to complete the furthest gens first regardless. Obviously I don't know the exact scenario you had but keep that in mind.
-
Spirit without stridor and when survivors use ironwill does take some skill. However stridor spirit takes no skill.
Spirit has major things going for her which take no skill, including:
- Passive phasing (can lead to free hits at small-ish loops).
- Stand still mind game.
Actually phasing takes some knowledge and game awareness, but honestly I think the skill required is overstated.
-
Rushing through gens is better than cleansing totems in most circumstances. The only time you should cleanse dull totems in solo queue is if the killer isn't doing a good job, but even then I'd recommend just rushing gens. If you're playing a against a good killer that is applying a lot of pressure, you shouldn't be on totems!
If you rush gens, at endgame you're likely to have less people on deathhook and can always find NOED once its activated. You also have the possibility of escaping, rather than having 2 gens done, 2 survivors dead and wondering what went wrong.
-
No
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed. -
Don't blame players for playing with their friends, blame the developers for not balancing around that fact.
-
I'm not sure what the big deal is? I don't see a problem with instant down killers or killers with teachable instant down perks. I'd say that the only controversial instant down related perks/addons are NOED, Iri Head and Rehead's Pinky Finger.
I think the large consensus is that Iri Head should be nerfed, whilst NOED and clown's instant down addon aren't quite as controversial as Iri.

Do not.
I already get hate mail on Xbox and I do not want to have an endgame chat where people can call me awful things and go completely unpunished
If you don't like interacting with others in chat, you can simply hide it. Slightly off the theme of this post but I'd hate to see end game chat removed on PC because people are complaining about it too much. Simply hide it if you don't like it. For all the toxicity there is, there's still some wholesome chats that I'd really miss.
-
I'd say Legion. His power is basically a glorified M1 ability, except he runs faster and can vault things and can't down injured survivors (within his ability, of course). For a new player, I'd say he's a good choice. Hitting other survivors with his 'ability' will show other close(ish) survivor's via killer instinct, too.
As Legion is short you also have more potential to mindgame loops, like haystacks which killers such as Huntress are at a major disadvantage. Lastly, as you're admittedly new to the game a lot of low ranked survivors will waste a lot of time pointlessly healing against you and will be caught hiding in lockers as they probably do not understand the killer instinct mechanic. So that helps.
-
Because Hags often either camp or stay close enough but just enough away to proc MYC. You either run, trigger a trap or try and slowly crouch away... which basically means death as the hag is getting closer and closer.
-
Well sometimes if a survivor is playing like they just bought he game I'll be petty and think... 'well that survivor shouldn't be at this rank anyway, so a potential depip would actually help them out and be healthy for the match making system' and I leave asap.
Another reason would be killer/scenario specific. E.g. I generally do not go for saves against killers like hillbilly, hag huntress, leatherface etc if they're 'camping' and the survivor is in the basement. At any point in the game.
-
Might have something to do with Easy Anti Cheat... as EAC's logo is normally seen at the bottom left of that pic. I suggest 'repairing' it to see if that helps. Edit: I'm removed the link as it may be somewhat unrelated. But still, you should look up how to reinstall EAC or repair it.
-
Hey I don't believe the way they refund bloodpoints is fair, especially considering you have to manually spend all of them again (which can take hours and hours).
However I don't see why they would accept third party statistics? Last I checked they only base how much you're refunded off of your hours played.
-
Brown ranks cannot be matched with red ranks.

You weren't technically neglected if they never had a list of some sort of who had legacy skins and what legacy skins they had. Maybe I don't entirely understand that situation but that's just my take on it.
When you take into consideration that the developers do not accept ANY proof whatsoever such as old backed up local save files, steam prestige achievement dates, old videos etc and some of us have been waiting for almost 4 years... we have certainly been neglected.
Many of us have proof, they simply and willfully do not look at it.

Veteran, almost day one player here, and I'm not feeling neglected at all. I'm interested in what makes you feel this way.
I'm interested to hear too. As another player from 2016 I'd say the only BIG thing being neglected for veterans is people not being refunded their lost legacy skins. We have been neglected big time on this issue.
Also... I remember seeing you a lot on the steam forums back in the day. So you're definitely not lying about being a veteran!

People will never be banned for tuning the brightness of their monitor. Ever.

As survivor: The Game.
- Hawkins is good because it has a TON of pallets.
- Lery's is ok because at least it has a TON of windows.
Meanwhile The Game might have a lot of god pallets and pallets in general, but finding gens is a nightmare. I also dislike it because many killers excel on this map (especially with certain builds), such as The Spirit. For example, I've played some spirits on this map which use distressing so you're almost always in their TR, meaning you can't hear them phasing. So you can easily get grabbed off of gens with no indication.

I've thought about restricting my messages. Might be the route to go.
Why wouldn't you? Based from what I've read you don't like any messages from others, so there's no point in allowing them to send messages at all.
