That really sucks. However.... sadly I have heard a story like this before which doesn't even involve a BHVR account, just normal loss of progress.
The Devs actually have the audacity to tell people they are lying about losing progress sometimes. BHVR are VERY shady when it comes to loss of progress, unfortunately.
-
Spirit takes skill to a degree. But Stridor spirit absolutely does not. The only part of a spirit's skill (outside of normal killer gameplay) is tracking survivor's when phasing.
The thing is though, spirit has many unskilled areas, including:
- Stand still 'mind game'
- Passive phasing (can get her free hits at small loops with absolutely zero skill included).
- Stridor spirit (and possibly Spatial sound enabled). If the killer can easily hear you breathing and can spawn right on top of you, survivors can't really outplay it.
But at least the unskilled AFK window strat and bump into survivors whilst phasing strat are no longer possible.
-
Flashlight saves are fine and easily avoidable and when avoided play into the killer's favour.
If you have someone trying to flashlight save, you have one less person on a gen. Simply face a wall or if there's no wall fake the pickup in the opposite way of a suspected flashlight saver. Once baited, hit that survivor and repeat or pick up once you know they are distant enough. If there's a swarm of survivors trying to flashsave, slug and down someone else if they are cocky enough and stay near you.
It is not difficult to avoid flashlight saves. Make it a habit of facing walls or picking up in the opposite direction of a could-be survivor even when you don't think a survivor is near.
-
No. Anyone can play this game, no matter their skill level. However, an unskilled player should not be playing WITH skilled players. A working MMR needs to be reintroduced asap.
-
Obligatory: You can't tell which cross-platform you're actually playing with/against if you're playing on console (I guess you could tell who is a PC player with certain exceptions, e.g. special characters in name).
Also although you can believe what you want, there are certainly areas in which keyboard + mouse players (PC) excel where console players do not. e.g. with killers needing precise aim such as death slinger, huntress and nurse.
And I have to say that a simple 360 in my experience is MUCH more effective against console players than PC players. I'm rubbish at 360's! I can usually tell when I'm playing against a console player due to their movements (and check after game). Maybe they miss because of lower fps? Unsure.
Also I have heard complaints from console players about key bindings when it comes to prioritizing interactions such as when near pallets.
PC players can also uncap their fps to a much higher value than 60. So yeah... just pointing out that although you can be good on console, your full potential is always capped when compared to PC players.

I've been solo queueing the last few days and I go into almost every game feeling that we'd be lucky to get 2 gens done. It's honestly so sad. It's such a miserable experience. It doesn't matter how well I play, at the end of the day I need the 3 other survivors to function. Do gens, don't go down in 2 seconds.
I really hate to do it, but I've basically been forced to use selfish key builds. Appraisal + Plunderers. Sad thing is, even before the game starts I can just tell the survivors will be awful. Default clothing, hidden hours/console. At this point I even equip Left Behind and Self-Care because I know the game is lost before it even begins - a key is my only chance.
It's not the other survivors fault because they should never be playing with me in the first place. It's the developers fault and it's really annoying how long they are taking to introduce another MMR system.
Just so miserable... I'm trying to stay positive but I just can't. I know I've lost before I've even loaded into the game. I should probably take a break.
-
The only thing you could have done there was try to slow vault, then slow vault back again and hope the killer continued in his loop. Then maybe even a third slow vault presuming he continued his predictable loop). That may have helped lose bloodlust, but unsure to be honest. You would have had to do this early on, too.
Realistically though, you couldn't really have done anything better there.
-
To add to that wishlist:
- Better matchmaking system (needs a lot of work)
- More frequent (and consistent) developer streams
- Bring back the swap role button
- More setting options
- Show which platform a player is from
- refund legacy
- Improve quality of life for solo players somehow
- Bring the good old Christmas theme back, even if it's just a different main menu background.
- Give us feedback on our reports
- Stop survivors from quick switching in the lobby
- Improve matchmaking times
- Revert all recent flashlight changes
- Allow players to start KYF with just themselves (we want to explore, get familiar with tiles... not all of us have handy dandy friends)
- Revert hillbilly changes (you could argue his insta saw addons were the only big issues people had)
-
Not trying to justify keys as I think they are silly, but if you see a key you could always find another lobby. Killer queues are very fast.
Albeit the survivors still have a chance to find key's in chests, especially with certain builds.
-
It has become the norm, bad survivors at high ranks are no longer shocking. I've come to expect survivors at red ranks to:
- Die in record breaking mere seconds against m1 killers
- Run a long distance behind countless walls before they feel safe to heal
- Not fake unhooks, just get pulled off. You can just tell when it's gonna happen
- Waste pallets after getting hit...
- CLEANSE before even going to the broken state, only to then immediately do something to get infected again (This can happen throughout the match).
- ... not dodge projectiles? I mean, come on. Don't just run in a straight line in plain sight of the huntress.
Honestly, even though I play with my brother 99% of the time, whenever we're not being chased we just countdown slowly '3... 2... 1... downed' out loud when another survivor gets chased and it's not even funny how often that is actually the case.
Some red rank survivors would last longer in a chase by just holding shift+w to create as much distance as possible, rather than mind gaming at loops.
-
Try find a flashlight in a chest, look for the wraith and shame him!
-
There is no killer as rewarding as Nurse... she is undoubtedly the best and most rewarding killer in the game once mastered.
But if you want to try out other rewarding killers, I'd suggest:
- Spirit
- Oni
Both these killers are great with certain perks and playstyles. E.g. Spirit is excellent with Stridor (and also good with DH, TOTH). Oni is excellent with Infectious Fright and slugging.
So if you get good with those killers you will feel rewarded. But you'll never have as much freedom as you have with Nurse in terms of playstyle and perks, unless you want to seriously handicap yourself.
-
@MythMage said:
I disagree. You know how people hate Spirit because she's mostly guesswork (she's really not, but for the sake of argument)? That was deception. It was literally a 50/50 on whether or not they actually entered the locker or if it was Deception, and not having any context clues to help Killers form a rational choice could waste a ton of the Killer's time, which we all know is too limited rn.
Now once you realize the survivor has deception, you won't be tricked again. In a chase you simply know 100% that they did not quickly enter the locker because... they literally can't.
'Deception' now seems absolutely pointless against knowledgeable killers.
-
Not sure about anyone else... but some of those skillchecks did actually seem a little too difficult.
- They appeared randomly on the screen.
- Were sometimes reverse skillchecks, sometimes not.
- Were of a smaller size because of unnerving.
- There was some 3 or 4oclock skillchecks.
- And of course no warning they were coming because of Lullaby.
-
- Iri Head (Huntress addon)
- Object of Obsession
- SWF
- Deadhard bugging
- Hitboxes (aka laggy hits)
- NOED
- Ranking system
- Slugging
Also: BUGS!

You should have chosen a better picture to demonstrate. I see a bus and a main building within 5 seconds of running distance and is that a ....car loop in the back?
If there are legit dead zones, this is not a good example imo.
Another example.
-
I feel you. I absolutely despise games against immersed survivors. They just drag out the game, it's extremely boring.
When you finally do find them, they die in 2 seconds. The game is dragged out forever and you get hardly any BP. It's so bad.
-
Killer mains did complain back then. I would know because I was one of them! I mean we even made a 'on strike' steam group! (Although I probably shouldn't mention that anymore... although it was 100% justified at the time).
We also complained about infinites, vacuum pallets, vacuum windows, DS, insta flash, old BT, about the sheer amount of pallets (funny how we are still complaining about the same things years on).
We used to have discussions about how many minutes you would take PURELY breaking pallets on maps like bloodlodge without brutal strength... It was a must have perk.
Also complained about a bunch of nurse bugs (I certainly did https://youtu.be/WyRu6o7FaIc ), saboteur, hooks not respawning, autoaim (made you hit the wrong person), BNP, genspeed, insta medkits etc.
Killers, including survivors have always complained.
-
Yeah have been using the perk since its release along with Plunders and Ace in the hole. I'll admit I did get excessive keys from chests, but for me it's still sad the perk was nerfed in this way.
Unless you want to throw the game, you're gonna have to run plunders with it now. You could get away without using it before, but now that you have to find 3 chests across the map to use all tokens... good luck. (You'd still be wasting huge amounts of time even with Plunder's equipped anyway).
And I was just fine tuning the build to only Ace in the Hole & Appraisal too. I guess I might use it every once in a while... but similarly to @BigBrainMegMain I'm back to using good ol' meta perks again.
-
This is a good change. Whereas before I'd hardly use Mori's, I see myself using them whenever now. Not particularly as an advantage over survivors with DS, but just for the mori animation's themselves.
Perhaps the developers could even monetize Mori animation's now. I was wary of suggesting this as it would only encourage more unfair Mori offerings. However, now that they're basically purely for viewing pleasure (besides somewhat countering DS), it'd be cool to see a range of different Mori animations for individual killers.
-
Some people actually bought the chapter. Why should they calm down if half the perks aren't working correctly, Victor gets stuck in the ground etc.
How can you justify this mess of a chapter by saying 'show patience since fixing bugs isn't easy at all'.
If anything, that kind of attitude just encourages BHVR to release more buggy, unfinished chapters.
-
If this chapter hadn't have introduced Appraisal (the new chest perk), I can't have seen myself playing much DBD. I'm a survivor main, the new perks are the only thing I looked forward to. I know you mentioned reworking perks but it's more exciting to get new ones.
-
I've seen a couple, one a few days ago. Rare though.
-
3-4k as killer.
Escape as survivor.
I take absolutely no consideration at whether I've pipped or not, I don't care.
If I hard camped and got a 3-4k I'd still consider that a win; if I immersed all game and escaped via the hatch I'd consider that a win (not that I do these things!).
-
Dead Hard working consistently.
-
Even if you're not running it, you're still benefitting due to its existence (as long as there is an obsession).

you said it yourself:
they could at least have given us the winter menu and music.
all we have right now though is an ingame message giving us some stuff when we log in (the amount doesnt rly matter) and this stupid code redeem thing for contend creators.
none of that changes anything ingame - no decorations on maps, no new menu, no cool winter music, nothing.
How hard could it be to reintroduce menu music and graphics?
Or even reintroduce those little present nodes in the bloodweb? Those were nifty. Come on, BHVR.

Giving me some time to find the hatch?
Giving to survivor the chance to keep hiding himself or save his team mate while im looking for the hatch?
Things Like that for example.
If you dont want to be slugged, maybe you should open a Thread complaining about Genrush , the main reason for all killers to play this way Like Tunneling + Mori or Slugg. Or you just can DC, like more than 50% surv players on red ranks do when the killers play like Killers should
That still doesn't change the outcome if a survivor is planning to DC for his friend, unless you AFK on the hatch as he DCs. Anyway, I'm not going to talk about DC's further.
Genrush doesn't come into this scenario that OP describes. 1 person is slugged and only one other person is alive. One person can't genrush. So I don't get your last comment.
-
Honestly, being slugged for 4 mins isn't fun. Not sure how people can try to justify this. It's incredibly boring for the downed survivor.
@Asqueado said:
Why slug for 4k? Easy, premades. For example when they are 2 Alive without key:
* Player 1 - Ey Bro I found the hatch
* Player 2 - Ok, give me a second to suicide or DC.
We dont want this as killers, so we have to slug and search the other survivor.
What is Next? Why Killers kill?
How does slugging change this outcome, at all?

@RaingerPlaysDBD said:
The Sway is to add more Skill to the Flashlight and give a Purpose to the Accuracy Add-Ons, it even is said in a Quote on one of the Grip Add-Ons that many Deaths have been caused from "Sweaty Hands."
I actually like the Mechanic. However I still think all Survivor Items need a passover, and should be made more in-depth but not buffed (Keys need a Nerf with the Hatch Mechanic, but I'd be down for them unlocking chests, and having less outdated aura reading mechanics, same with Maps). I think Items should be made more complex. Have a set amount of Add-Ons similar to Killers.
But who asked for a 'sway'? I don't get why the developers change things like this; no one, literally no one asked for a sway.
Out of everything the developers could be doing they thought 'yeah, we'll give the flashlight a sway and change the angle of it... again'.
-
You don't.
-
Not sure about anyone else, but I'm finding the whole situation hilarious.
It's a baby!
No it's not!
Yes it is!
No it's not!
But it looks like a baby!
It's an undead monster!
The jokes are the best thing about this chapter.
-
I don't like facing him because his presence alone in a chase is enough for him to get a free M1. You just never know WHEN he will suddenly shoot his gun and so have to mindlessly do silly zig-zag movements, all the while he's getting closer for that M1.
-
Wretched Shop is the worst.
-
Found the blendette.
-
Well, I don't like the new killer... feels like Victor gets cheap hits sometimes. Victor is just not fun to play against.
I also really, really dislike some of the revamped autohaven maps. I think the developers forgot to add structures/objects and thought 500 trees would do?
I am however, enjoying using Appraisal with other chest perks. But that'll get nerfed soon. Better enjoy it whilst it lasts.
-
Loving Appraisal perk with Plunderers + Ace in the hole. Every match is more exciting because I'm bound to get a good item + addons.
Trying to stock up on good items + addons for Claudette atm. I don't like spending BP on an already maxed character, so this is the way to go.
-
Well, Ill wait for the entire vod to skip through it. I've asked a question regarding lost legacy cosmetics, unfortunately got very few upvotes, so I doubt it will be answered.
I'm not accepting 'sorry' as an answer after promising for so many years that the issue would be resolved.
-
I'm actually really disliking most of these map reworks. Autohaven and Macmillan are maps I looked forward too, I don't like much else. Also nostalgia.
Feels like every map is the same thing of neatly placed trees with little in between, just like @GoodBoyKaru posted.
I can't see myself enjoying playing them.
-
Uhh... I stand by saying the FPS improvement is great. But, yeah. After playing on this map a few times now, it's high up there on my most disliked maps now as survivor. Seems like all the pallets surrounding rocks are awful. Very open map, meaning killers like Nurse, blight, Oni, etc will excel. Also means it's hard to lose killers, too.
It's one of those maps I will now predominantly hold shift + w whenever possible, even if it is risky. It's very hard to loop any killer around those rocks.
-
Just as I got used to the other flashlight angle... *sigh*

Better fps or worse?
As Survivor at least, much better. I play at low settings and have been getting around 100-120 fps.
Before, I'd get about 60-100.
I'd say this is very good FPS for an ageing graphics card (GTX 1070). More FPS is much better than visual improvements IMO, but they've seemed to somehow do both of these things.

I genuinely couldn't tell that was prestige and for a moment I thought this was meant to be a comparison and you'd just forgot to upload the picture showing prestige. Once I noticed how the hat barely has some blood on it I realised just how bad it was.
Same! I had to have a double take...
@daggersnight said:
That's P3!? You honestly can't tell a difference at all! Throw some blood on that babies head already geez.
If I'm wrong hopefully someone can correct me. But, isn't Victor technically the killer's ability? So he shouldn't have any cosmetic changes if the developers stick to their protocol.
-
How are survivors bullying you?
-
The big difference I've noticed is the FPS improvements on that map. Huge.
-
That's sad. But at least I'm not spending any money on this chapter.
-
Yeah, it's kind of annoying when this happens. The only real issue is that if you have borrowed time, you won't be able to use it when this occurs. And I guess you miss out on some points.
But is it really that much of an issue? Just deal with it.
-
BHVR. I'll give you my vote if you give me back my legacy skins.
Otherwise I'm voting for F13 in spite!
-
Goals:
- Improve
- Have fun
- Collect more cosmetics
- Max out all characters
Have not prestiged any characters, but have got all killers maxed out and 15 survivors maxed.

We would need mouse and keyboard support too, considering how damn slow writing on console is
Haven't used a console since Xbox 360, but couldn't you just use a chatpad that connects to the controller?
I used to use one of those and they were a lifesaver.
