Little things like memeing with other survivors or even the killer.
When greeting another survivor I will often nod or t-bag. If I don't get a t-bag or a nod back I will be disappointed. It's common courtesy.
-
I'll also add to the miss list:
- Switch role button
- Hillbilly space program
- Being able to see the killer's steam profile in the lobby (Controversial!)
- Old Tinkerer. Only miss it when playing killer, though. Was interesting.
- Chainsaw Myers
- Old flashlight angles
-
I miss:
- Infinites
- Mori's without needing to hook
- No respawning hooks
- Instant flashlights
- Old BNP
- 7 blink nurse
Just kidding...
I miss:
- Well... I HAVE to add this: My legacy skins BHVR lost! (Give them back pls. Yes... Seriously! @not_Queen)
- Rarity of map offerings.
- Weekly/Fortnightly developer streams
- Pre-nerf hillbilly
- Community aspect of DBD. Half the players are console players with no communication. I used to consistently see familiar faces and now I rarely see familiar faces. It's sad.
-
Woah, woah. That's way too positive of a post. Calm yourself.
-
I've been getting Badham way too much too. Really strange.
-
1 - Not really sure. I like to play m1 killers and play on autopilot mode and so mindlessly do things, maybe even take advantage of bloodlust. It's just so convenient. So I have noticed the change. I actually have to... think about what I'm doing. It's horrible.
As survivor I have noticed I can take more advantage of loops, too. My last game resulted in a rank 13 hag DCing because she couldn't catch me for about 2 mins on a loop... where I used 1 pallet and no windows. Bad matchmaking and no bloodlust is a bad combination.
2 - I really never thought I'd say this because I mostly play survivor and hate when bloodlust is used against me but... bloodlust 1 at the very least needs to stay in the game. Imagine trying to catch a survivor that knows how to loop the garage, asylum, shack and jungle gyms on suffocation pit, or any good loops for that matter.
3 - Keep at least bloodlust 1, maybe 2.
4 - Little stressful, but fine thanks.
-
Don't try to double back on loops like the car unless the survivor is bad and the pallet is dropped. Against a decent survivor (like the one in the video), you should force the pallet to be dropped and break it.
You need to optimize your movements more. You should have been able to hit Steve at that fence without much of an issue.
Also at 3:40 you would've downed Steve if you lunged earlier.
-
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you use the perk Ace In The Hole and escape the trial, you'll keep the add-ons you have (unless you used something like a septic).
Have been using it with my map when doing the totem challenge. I felt bad losing so many add-ons! But this one simple trick might help you too.
But seriously, if you think about it, the change does make sense. It should probably have always been like this. At least we have a way of keeping our add-ons via a perk - killers do not have this luxury.
-

Yea right him hopin on spirit nothing but Moris every game baby. WOOOOOOOOOOO LETS GO BABY
Presuming you get 4ks every game by doing this, you'd actually help in showing that bloodlust is not needed, at least according to the stats.
-
I like being in chases, almost always have DS and DH. Then it's a toss up between Iron will, WGLF, Any means necessary and unbreakable.
But even though I like being in chases I don't usually get in the killers face unless I'm feeling cocky. Most games I just hold m1 on gens until the killer comes to me.
The amount of BP I get greatly depends on the killer, if they chase me or if I'm just holding m1 all game.
Rank? I don't take notice of the emblem system at all. Don't even give it a glance... I really don't care. I'm always at red ranks anyway.
-
I believe I've bought 2 rifts and used the auric cells earned to purchase all other rifts.
I used some auric cells to purchase some trousers for David to go along with his Howling Grounds Untamed Donkey Jacket because I was excited to finally have been given it back. Now that everyone has it, I regret purchasing those trousers.
Haven't bought anything else with auric cells in the in-game store and never will again. Everything is wildly overpriced.
-
So you:
- Load into a game
- Killer happens to find you faster than you would like
- You suicide
That's some next level entitlement right there.
-
Usually 3 or 4k. It's not that I'm very good at killer, it's just that MM is terrible and puts players that should be rank 10+ at red ranks.
-
PC player. On for both sides at the moment although me and my friend that queue together often are thinking of turning crossplay off as survivor.
-
Any Means Necessary - I love pulling pallets back up and the bonus 500bp is noice. In fact if I'm feeling hungry for BP I just quickly pull down a pallet and lift it back up again.
-
Devs should bring back first person Mori perspectives for killers. They're so much better and feel more personal. The only exception to this would be ghostface's Mori. Transition to the camera's POV when taking the photo.
-
The triple bloodpoint event started on the 13th and lasts until the 15th. The only thing is... it's on DBD mobile! You may have got an email about it from the DBD mobile team - as did I.
-
I've actually got a vid of my second game as survivor, but it's kinda embarrassing commentary and has edits so I don't think I'll post it! Maybe I will if anyone really wants to see it.
Casually failing skill checks, hiding behind rocks, leaving my two friends die on the hook... I was too scared to go and save them and by the time I did, they died. Typical rank 20.
Anyway I was soon found hiding in an upper shack locker, taken to the basement and hooked. My friend said I had a one in 10 chance to escape the hook, so I dramatically attempted escape and on my last attempt freed myself.
I then casually walked into the obvious trap the trapper had left near the basement stairs... he came down, stood there and looked at me. He seemed very disappointed.
And of course, DBD wouldn't be DBD without bugs. So I was not able to recover, the trapper seemingly could not pick me up and so I eventually bled out.
Fun times...
-
Devotion 5. 4300 hours. Probably played at least 2khrs before devotion was a thing, not really sure though.
Edit: Actually probably got closer to 3k hrs before devotion was a thing.
-
I'm fine with how AMN is atm and use it often. The best way to bait a killer away from a pallet you just dropped in a chase is to get the stun and start making as much distance as possible. But you should either run to the left or right side of the loop so the killer knows that if they break the pallet they are wasting more time than they would have if they simply moved around the loop and continued the chase.
As a survivor you either gain massive distance if the killer does kick the pallet or can return to the pallet later on to lift it up.
-
I can't possibly begin to comprehend how boring DBD would be if it was a constant 'hide and seek' rank 20 simulator. I don't want to consistently walk from gen to gen to gen to gen without seeing anyone or spend minutes looking.
Before the hatch rework I had a game that lasted 20+ minutes of me just looking for an urban evasioning Nea. Wasn't. Fun. At. All. I happend to loop around a tree twice and found her... pure luck. She could've been anywhere on the map.
Chases are fun and challenging. Mindlessly looking behind objects for survivors for minutes doesn't offer any challenge at all. What about the survivor gameplay? Hold M1 on a gen, hear the TR and hold C behind a nearby object and die instantly in a chase? What? I don't want forced rank 20 gameplay.
Also, you realize the game would have to have a complete overhaul to be a 'hide and seek' simulator? If you want less looping, there'd have to be considerable changes to become on par to 'Hide Or Die' ... and we all know what happend to that game.
Also also, just to note: Stealth is still part of this game. I'm going to respect good killers and not actively seek a chase with them. I will hide from major threats such as NOED or Devour Hope if I need to. I will try and lose a chase if my survival depends on it. I will be more cautious on death hook. I just don't want stealth to be a 24/7 thing. It's good where it is now imo.
-
I don't use flashes at pallets/windows and don't seek out flash saves - generally only if the opportunity is presented to me. But yea, just yesterday I used the flash to burn a wraith.
Perhaps some people don't actually know you can burn a wraith. I bet a lot of people also don't know you can burn a Nurse when she's holding her blink.

Yeah I tried it against multiple killers and even in custom games. Something definitely seems different to me
I've been having trouble flashing killers and I've got 4khrs... it's kind of embarrassing. Before the change I always knew where to flash. I guess I'll give the video linked above a watch.

Well atleast you some ways to work around it. On console you're stuffed.
I'm a PC player upping the brightness on my monitor via the settings on the monitor itself. A console player could also do this I presume, but it varies from monitor to monitor.

How is this bait?? I am simply pointing out why i think Survivors have no right to whine and complain when their job is easy.
By suggesting survivors can't work on another gen for 3 minutes after completing a gen in the killer's face...

So... 3 anti-slug perks and 1 anti-tunnel perks?
What if the killer just... doesn't tunnel or slug? Now you're essentially playing perkless. No exhaustion perks. No healing perks. No information perks. Just... nothing.
People are gonna need to calm down about Power Struggle. I don't think it's going to be used at all outside of the occasional SWF, and even then it can only be ued once per match.
Just calm down. Take a deep breath.
I'd say a better combo than what op suggested is unbreakable + flip flop + power struggle + Soul Guard
You just need a friend to stall for some time and can actually purposefully die at a pallet to stall for time, as silly as that sounds. The friend's presence should be enough to stop the killer from instantly picking the downed survivor up.
In a few seconds if picked up, the downed survivor will have 25% wiggle or more. Presumably, the survivor can then get a free escape. Even if the killer anticipates the setup, there's little the killer can do (without its own setup to counter it) except bleed the survivor out for 4 mins, or take the pallet stun and free escape.
With Unbreakable + Soul Guard, it's basically a free escape no matter what the killer does as long as a friend applies pressure. We could soon be having 'pallet stand-offs'.
-
I'd rather have more original killers.
-
I think the perk is fine where it is now, although of course wouldn't mind further buffs. I regularly use it... along with Dead Hard. Making it an exhaustion perk would be me unequip AMN.
-
As survivor I used to commonly play against scorpionz and occasionally played against Otz, LynxiTime, sammymjay, iosefka, dowsey etc.
I've played against Tru3 a few times, but not recently. When choosing the Toronto region was a thing I also played with angrypug.
Ever since cross play I've hardly played against any streamer and I don't see the regular PC players anymore either which makes me sad!
-
You don't want to see a full a 4 man SWF going against a rank 20 who just started playing the game. Similarly, you wouldn't want to see a 2000hr killer go against survivors that don't even know what scratch marks are yet.
As a survivor main I personally don't want 3 other survivors crouching in corners all game, missing skillchecks, dying within 5 seconds of being found etc. If that was the case 99% of the time, I'd probably quit or only play 4 man SWF. I want competent survivors at my rank... which is what the current ranking system aims to suffice. (Although it's not doing a very good job at it... thank goodness I normally play with a friend).

Before I leave my biased response let met say:
1) I lost my legacy cosmetics and have never been refunded them.
2) I was lucky enough to get Science Fair Claudette, Street Meg from what I believe was an officially supported giveaway via MMOGA (years ago).
3) I got Chuckles from @Peanits himself when he was giving codes way on the steam forum (I answered a question correctly before everyone else). https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/1621724915780839827/?ctp=25#c1621724915783490206
4) I lost my Howling Grounds exclusives, got them back, then everyone else a few months/weeks later got them too.
I feel extremely cheated because everything 'exclusive' that I owned has either been given to everyone or I have lost it due to no fault of my own (cough legacy), except meg's and trapper's deathgarden related masks (woohoo!).
So, in my massively biased opinion, no I'm not happy with any more exclusives being given out. They're supposed to be exclusive.
-
As you mentioned, show other survivor perks whilst in lobby. But it'd also be nice to show them in-game too, even if it means pressing ESC and viewing their perks from there.
Other QOL changes:
- Colourblind support for killers
- Bring the switch roles option back.
- Please... stop it with the nauseating movements when playing killer. Don't force my screen down after I end a chainsaw sprint, for example. I really dislike that.
- Show which platform a player is from and allow everyone to use end game chat.
- Add graphical settings and make it easy to enable/disable vsync.
- Recordings of matches would be really cool. I will then be able.to pinpoint exactly how my team threw the game!
- Give us feedback of the result of reporting a player. Did they get banned? How long for if so? How do I know I'm not wasting my time reporting rule breakers?
-
I'll tell you 2 principles I adhere to...
Survivor:
- Slugging for the 4k despite KNOWING where the hatch is and wasting everyone's time? Is it really worth slugging the downed survivor for 4 mins? Don't be surprised if I feel spiteful and go looting all the chests, cleansing all the totems and admire the hooks in the basement whilst you frantically sweat for the final kill by checking one door to the next. I'd rather die by EGC. I won't give you the satisfaction of sacrificing me after wasting everyone's time.
Killer:
- Have terrible team mates but you're actually decent and gave me a good run? I'm likely to give you hatch... as long as you're not too cocky of course.
Now that I think about it... I give hatch to many people anyway (mostly because I secretly hope I don't double pip).
-
8/10 survivor. 99% of the time I WANT to be chased because I know I will buy a lot of time for my team, much more than what they would. Although, I don't like seeming ballsy so don't just run at the killer for his attention... usually.
I used to main killer, hence have got a lot of experience playing both roles and watch a lot of dbd twitchers. I know all the mind games and how to... loop.
5/10 killer. Like I said I USED to main killer. I just don't enjoy it very much anymore and purposefully don't try very hard. I basically play on autopilot mode. Despite of this, it's rare that I don't get 3/4ks... I think the caliber of skilled survivors has really taken a slump for some reason.
If I 'try hard' as killer, it'll only frustrate me because against good survivors it's an uphill battle. So I don't bother anymore. It only takes a few clicks and someone 'abusing' a strong window and I get PTSD.

90% of the playerbase had 0 clue what was going on, pallet looping wasnt a huge thing back then, barley anyone knew about infinity looping or tiles. The game was a hide n seek fiesta
There was so many pallets no one even thought about looping and better preserving pallets!
-
Those times were tough.
If you got caught as a survivor you were prone to an actual facecamp, or if you're lucky just a trap under the hook and a proxy camp.
As killer if you did anything slightly offensive (such as chase a survivor), the survivors could just punish you at infinities (or even common jungle gyms) and basically force you to DC/AFK, unless the survivor(s) get bored and finally leave. Vault speed of killers back then was awful and of course there was no window blockers, bloodlust, medium vaults etc.
What did the devs do before really resolving these game breaking issues? First of all Mathieu said THIS about infinites:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9IFjDFdHhIThe Devs also introduced Decisive Strike at the same time Haddonfield was introduced. Now, if you somehow got caught at an infinite, you got a free escape anyway. That was a horrible feeling as killer.
And people wonder why there is such a big US vs THEM mentality in DBD...

Didn't those people who played Deathgarden during the free period lose the masks once the game was removed from the store?
I never bought Deathgarden, although played when it was free and still have the masks.

Now that I come to think of it, a dream change for me would be to increase every killer FOV.
I think they changed it years ago as a band-aid fix to fix killers hitting a closet and seeing in it? Cant quite remember.
But killer FOV is terrible and I sometimes find myself using shadowborn to try and resolve the problem. The FOV takes a lot of getting used to, so often deters me from playing killer.
-
I forgot to mention that @DocOctober deserves a lot of respect for all that he has done with the DBD wiki. I know he used to be very active (not sure if he still is active around here though).
-
Could probably add more. But I've respected most of these guys since the steam forum days... although they probably don't recognize me - partly because I am not that active on the forum's anymore and I changed my alias from 'Lemons' a few years ago.
They make good arguments, are interesting folks and often align with my opinion in many topics so I don't even bother commenting myself sometimes!
-
I'm actually really enjoying WGLF right now. If a killer downs someone and gets deterred with something else just for a few seconds, even if its to kick a gen... a medkit + WGLF does wonders.
I really like the feeling of no longer wasting a perk slot as it actually does something now apart from the extra BP gains.

Oh you didn't know? Apparently there won't be a winter event this year.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LeaksDBD/comments/jgkgne/no_winter_event_this_year/
This can change though, and I hope to dear God it does.
Do you think this time they'll at least put in enough effort to copy and paste festive themed hooks, barrels and lockers? I might be asking for too much, though.

Yes, but more importantly hopefully BHVR has learned a lesson from this.
-
Urban Evasion - I'd rather survivors are more time efficient, run where necessary and have decent chases. In my experience, players that use UE don't last long in chases and waste a lot of time.
No Mither - I really don't mind you using this perk if you're good at the game, great at chases and do gens! But it feels like most of the time a bad player uses it and dies very quickly. Basically throwing.
Self Care - If you use Self-Care appropriately, e.g. at endgame to go for an unhook or to finish off an interrupted heal, it's fine. But I don't wanna see you self-caring all game. Especially against a killer like a legion or we may as well all AFK.
-
Farming is one of the most boring thing's in this game. Bloodpoints does not equal fun. I'm not playing to queue up for 10 mins and then spend an abnormal amount of time in-game just to farm.
What's worse is that it's hard to actually suicide in a farming game because the survivors unhook instantly and the killer doesn't usually kill. So I either have to join in with the boring activity or play gen simulator. If I don't join in then there's also a risk of being sandbagged by the other survivors and being farmed anyway when caught.
-
Many streamers have now started to hide the last 1 or 2 digits of the code and then reveal them after everyone has inputted the rest of the code. Still, probably unfair but this is giving console players a much bigger chance to get the charm.
Now, who we should really feel sorry for are the people with bad internet. They may well be watching the stream a few seconds behind everyone else!
-
Are you trying to tell me you're not satisfied with the free charms they're giving out? You should be happy they're giving out anything for free - they are a company made for profit after all. /s
