  • I generally have crossplay on at all times. But I am growing increasingly frustrated with console teammates that are really bad. Killers tend to tunnel them because they're so weak, often resulting in an unwinnable game. I've had a few killers tell me that in after game chat.

This is also an issue with PC players because potatoes still exist on PC, but... not to the same extent in my experience. I also very much dislike how I cannot communicate with console players after game, so may end up turning cross play off eventually.

  • At the moment I'm mostly playing just to get to tier 70 in this rift, to be honest.

I've been put off dbd a little lately and am enjoying other games more. But I'm finding myself playing just because time is running out, but goodness. Some challenges just take ages for some reason. One challenge to blind killers a few times and all of sudden I'm playing against a nurse, spirit, hag, blight and am finding flashing killers already inconsistent since the flashlight changes.

At the moment I have the motivation to play in order to collect all the rift cosmetics, but if the Devs ever decide to release rift skins, even in the shop, I'll lose that motivation to see rifts through. Already annoying enough that they've released past event cosmetics, code cosmetics and won't return my legacy.

  • I'm actually struggling to use flashlights right now... even at pallets/windows. I feel like a noob, but the flashlight angle has obviously changed. It's really strange, I just can't get the hang of it. I'm not using a flashlight that much but when I do I often run into problems!

Never had a problem with it for years (Except when against Hag and Spirit). Hope the change is reverted.

  • Spirit. I don't appreciate her 'mind games' and even further dislike playing against spirits if they're using stridor.

Hag is a close second though.

  • Any means Necessary. I just like being able to pick dropped pallets up...

  • Probably back when infinites existed. I remember one time I was playing Wraith on Suffocation Pit and there was literally nothing I could do to catch the survivor. They would fast vault (and vacuum) to the window every time, whilst I would very slowly vault the window. Bloodlust didn't exist, window blocking didn't exist, he could see me coming through half the building and there was no EGC. I can't remember if he had SB or SC, but they were so broken back then, it was horrible. Not sure if DS was released at this particular point, though. But if it was, even if I had caught him, he would've had a free escape anyway unless I could've juggled him to a hook. I must've felt completely powerless and at the survivors mercy.

I tried my hardest, but I never caught him because it was impossible without a HUGE mistake on his part. Can't quite remember, but I was probably forced to leave or wait them out.

That was probably one of the worst feelings back then. As killer I'd just think 'PLEASE have mercy and just leave, not force me to DC or AFK ... I was a good killer and didn't camp!' or 'Please don't use the infinite or I lose'. I had to AFK quite a few times back then whilst survivors had their fun, it really made me have a hatred for survivors for a while, ngl. Especially how they justified it because I stayed at a hook for a few extra seconds. The feeling when they would bee-line to infinites whenever being chased, ugh. I'm fine now though. Many other killer mains must have felt the same way, too.

  • 'toxic swfs' really taking it to the next level by toxicly hiding and repairing gens when the killer is not nearby... lol.

I get the problem, but I don't understand the need to call players that do this... 'toxic'? They're playing smart. Mind you, if this was a more widespread strat it could actually become troublesome, for the reasons you stated. But at the moment this either isn't a very popular strat or survivors are simply easy to find because 90% of the time they're running around and do not fear the killer.

  • 'I AFKed all game and expected survivors to look for and cleanse all totems to extend an already incredibly boring M1 simulator, where NOED was never really a threat because the killer is supposedly AFK anyway'.

I really don't get what you're trying to prove here.

  • This tip will sound very basic but I don't see many survivors make use of this:

TPing to the other side of a pallet and generally vaccuming was removed ages ago. But when you're on the other side of the pallet from the killer, the prompt to pull the pallet down has quite a large radius. Make use of it! On loops that killers can see you loop, I am constantly baiting killers into stuns because they think I'm being greedy for a loop - Well, I'm not always being greedy! I vacuum right back at them and they get pallet stunned. I really don't see much survivors make use of this. I generally make sure to let go of the run button too when I drop pallets down. Unproven, but I feel like I get hit through pallets less compared to the shift + drop pallet animation.

The tip I gave above will allow you to greed more loops. If the killer is going to respect the pallet, you've made more distance by being at the maximum range of the pallet drop prompt. If he looks like he isn't going to respect you can pull it down and get an unexpected (from their perspective) stun on them.

  • I haven't prestiged anyone since losing my data (although I had many P3 all perks before then). I've currently got all killers LVL50 with all perks and 14 survivors at LVL50 with all perks.

Personally I'm not motivated to prestige again ever since losing my progress. I was under refunded BP (that I spent days manually spending, ty devs) so I never prestiged anyone to ensure I had enough to max out all the characters I had maxed out and P3'd beforehand. I've never prestiged any character since then, either. Don't have the motivation or incentive to do that anyway now that there's a bunch of cosmetics I can purchase in the shop or gain from the rifts.

  • The thing is, devotion hasn't been around since the start of DBD. So people who lost their legacy cosmetics could be at devotion 0. So bringing legacy back in this way would not even guarantee people who lost their legacy cosmetics would even get 1 of their legacy pieces back without grinding out devotion levels. Personally I'm only at Devotion 4 with over 4k hrs.

So this wouldn't necessarily resolve the lost legacy issue and would give legacy to players who never originally earned it. Legacy should stay as an exclusive (I also feel as if the event cosmetics should have stayed exclusive, too).

  • 'Do bones'.

It is often much better to rush gens instead of cleansing totems, especially when solo queuing.

Because 1) There is no totem counter. You could cleanse 4 totems and spend ages looking for the 5th totem only for it to have already been cleansed.

    2) You could waste a bunch of time that you can't afford to waste. It's already hard enough getting all the gens done in solo queue.

    3) The killer might not even have NOED.

    4) If the killer does have NOED it is faster to find it when it is activated.

If you're playing against a good killer, you just HAVE to prioritise gens. Cleansing totems isn't going to activate the exit gates. 5 Gens will. E.g it is MUCH better to rush gens against a forever Freddy, instead of wasting valuable time.

The only time 'do bones' may be applicable is if you're in a 4 man SWF (so you know how many totems have been cleansed) or if you've got a map and know for sure that all the totems have been cleansed. In both situations the killer needs to be bad enough so that you know you have time to cleanse all totems and finish all gens and escape. Otherwise rush gens.

  • Stridor spirit/audio cues for spirit whilst phasing needs to be nerfed IMO.

Stridor spirit is the bane of my existence.

  • Neither. I want to see more original characters and plus, I can get them for free with shards.

Original characters are so much better because they're free and I can use shards to purchase lots of their cosmetics. I have used exactly 0 auric cells to purchase outfits on licensed characters. (Although perhaps I would if they weren't so overpriced).

You can’t say PC is better if you need to run low graphics, I’m looking at it from a balance point, you could also get a better PC if your frames aren’t good on normal settings, console isn’t that bad. Either add it for all or remove it for all, asking for balance not nerfs.

I could run DBD at Ultra settings at 60 fps or at low settings and get 120 fps. People such as me simply prefer more FPS, partly because of our monitor's high refresh rate. We want to play games as smooth as possible.

Also why remove it? That's silly. Instead they should give the option of low settings for console players so that they have that advantage too and can also gain more fps - which I hear is lacking.

Post-game chat is the biggest cancer of this game. No.

It's something you can turn off, though. Personally I think it'd be great to have - people that don't want to see chat such as yourself can simply hide it. It'd be really nice to interact with other players from other platforms. Atm I dislike having full lobbies of console players just because the lack of interaction. Can't say, 'thanks for the save', 'thanks for carry', or discuss anything. What's the point in adding someone from another platform if you can't interact with them whatsoever? I doubt I'll ever add any cross-platform user unless I can chat with them. End game chat for me is always something to look forward to.

  • It's not an exploit because you CAN pick them up. I imagine you also got easy downs because of this, so no.

  • 4 guys downed? That's exactly why Unbreakable exists in the first place, to help counter killers that slug for the 4k. Imagine how easy the game would be if you used a slug build with powerful killers such as Nurse and Oni, knowing unbreakable no longer exists. This game would turn into an even bigger slug fest with those kinds of killers and builds.

Imagine Knockout being meta and you're playing solo survivor with no unbreakables. Would be dreadful.

  • I've only ever spent real money on David's trousers, the rest of the cosmetics I've bought with shards or are from the rift. I'm also only going to show off my favourite survivor outfits because I generally haven't invested or bothered with the killer ones (because you can't really see them in-game as killer!).

    dbd outfits.png

But yeah. These are my favourite survivor outfits right now via shards and the rift!

Edit: To me, the image I've uploaded hasn't appeared. So here it is, a little more scuffed:

    image.png
  • I haven't bought a console since Xbox 360, so I may be wrong on this but... don't all console players have unique gamertags?

So you could probably open up the Xbox game companion app on Windows (or login to xbox's website) and search for them there if you want to message them. Not 100% sure on this, but perhaps this is a way for you to get in contact with players. Could work in a similar way when trying to contact playstation 4 players too, but am unsure tbh.

You'd have to guess what platform they're on, though.

Also just to say: I love interacting with players so not being able to chat with players from other platforms kinda puts me off cross-play. I have found myself playing more games with it disabled than with it on just because of the communications barrier.

  • I avoid all Hag rituals. I dislike 'escape with this character' rituals, but will sometimes do em. I like the mori rituals because they're easy to complete.

But, I hardly ever complete daily rituals. I complete 3 rituals that will reward me the highest amount of BP and simply don't claim them until the next chapter comes out. Just feels good to save up BP via the archives and rituals to splash out on a new character, even if the BP from 3 daily rituals don't amount to much in the grand scheme of things.

  • You presume that survivors are only gonna last 10-15 seconds after using DS and that the killer will keep chasing after you've used it.

Also, your argument doesn't actually make sense. You're basically saying 'don't run DS because it is only a minor inconvenience if killers decide to tunnel you'... of course DS would better the situation if you are being tunneld. Not everyone goes down after a 10 second chase! A good survivor against a loopable killer could waste another minute or so, even if it means wasting a bunch of pallets.

  • Hide the chat if you don't wanna deal with it. You can auto hide it if it really bothers you by going in the gameusersettingsini.

I like to chat after game and would hate to see it removed.

Hey Pepsi! Thank you for the kind words!! And yes you did! Your email didn't work any other way i should contact you?

Hey I've sent you a friend request on steam, we can message there. If I somehow sent the wrong person a friend request, here's my profile: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Pepsidot/

I'll be on tomorrow, it's getting late!

  • Was really interesting to hear from all of the cast and how you had everyone read up on all of the characters backstories. I appreciate the effort you guys put into this short-film and am looking forward to part 2. Also, I won a hex totem? Thanks! :)

  • Claudette and Hillbilly. Prestiged both of them to P3 to get legacy.

  • Otzdarva for really good all around content. I really like how he accepts losses, keeps calm and actually compliments survivors. He is also an amazing killer and I really like watching him play Trapper.

If I'm not watching Otz, I'd probably be watching LynxiTime or Sammymjay. Both chill streamers and relatively small communities. They are both generally positive too, like Otz. I like it.

  • As survivor I love playing all the Macmillan, Autohaven and Coldwind maps except for Shelter Woods, Azarov's Resting Place and Rotten Fields. I also like playing on Ormond and The template of purgation somewhat.

As killer, I like playing on all of the original maps I listed above but ofc dislike playing on maps such as Bloodlodge and Rotten Fields. I probably dislike bloodlodge more than I should because of its stigma of being the pallet haven.

I know this post is about what maps we enjoy to play but I have to add that 99% of the time, I despise playing on Midwich, The Game and Lery's as killer and survivor. Hawkins is aight.

  • I have tried to give MMR a chance... but my goodness, it is awful. The amount of lobbies I have checked out a survivors profile only for them to have 1-50hrs is ridiculous. I don't want a 2 min game, where I can't get any gens done because the killer has POP all game since the survivors cant last 2 seconds in a chase. Most survivor games are awful at the moment.

I don't have much experience as killer when it comes to the new MMR, but I did play one game which had 2 new players and 2 semi-ok players. Was an easy match.

At the moment, it's looking as if the old MM is better than the new MMR system. And that's saying something right there. But hopefully the devs will get it to work properly as we really do need a good MMR system.

  • Looking forward to this. I'm glad the developers gave you guys the go ahead, would have been awful if you had to cancel it. Just subbed with notifications on! Also, you mentioned a giveaway. Any details on how that's gonna work?

  • Shame, was hoping to purchase Feng's outfit with shards. Not gonna purchase auric cells for it, though.

  • If I want the best chances of escaping, I'll often use Soul Guard, Unbreakable, DS and DH. 1 perk to help in chases and 3 perks to help in slug situations.

It's an incredibly good build. You don't have to rely on BT and it helps against slugging killers such as Oni. Also incredibly useful endgame. Mind you, there are some situations where I'd love to have ironwill instead. So I often find myself switching between using either Ironwill or Soul Guard in the above build.

  • First game played with new MMR I had 2 rank 20 teammates. Me and my friend are rank 1 and we also had a rank 1 killer.

2nd and 3rd game cant remember, but probably average players.

But for the last 5 games (no exaggeration) I have been matched with the exact same rank 1 survivors (of old MM system), with thousands of hours. We escaped every single game, except one game in which one survivor was moried.

First impressions of the new MMR were bad, but perhaps it will turn out good if my last 5 games are anything to go by. I've never been matched up with the same survivors 5 times in a row, ever. Playing with competent survivors is fun.

  • I ran the build Unbreakable, DS, Soulguard and Ironwill quite a lot a week or 2 ago. It is a very good build for aggressive playstyles because if you get downed after being unhooked you still feel very safe, as long as you have enough time on DS left. If the killer comes for me, I'll either use DS or use Unbreakable + Soul Guard to get away. In fact, I would sometimes purposefully get downed faster, because I would still have all the perks at my disposal, whereas if I stalled another 20 seconds, I wouldn't.

There have been some intense situations where I've actually felt more safe dying on the floor and have waited before lifting myself up. This is because of Soul Guard.

I believe that If DS gets nerfed so that it deactivates when survivors go in a locker, Soul Guard, Unbreakable and DS combo will become meta. Killer can still stand over you and wait for DS to run out, but you can use Soul Guard to get away.

Just to make one thing clear, we already have zero tolerance for extreme insults (e.g. racism, homophobic slurs, telling people to kill themselves, etc.). These people do not get warnings, they are banned without any hesitation. We have always acted on these sorts of reports. The issue is more so that there is no feedback on the reporter's side when action is taken: You don't get a message in-game letting you know that someone you've reported was banned.

Odds are if you've reported someone for that sort of thing, they were most likely banned shortly after.

Are they permanently banned? I realize you don't give direct feedback on the action taken, but users can still see perma game bans on the users profile they reported.

I actually reported a legacy hacker a few days ago and no joke or exaggeration, about 5 mins after I reported him I went on his profile and he had a game ban! (Thanks @Ryuti).

So if someone uses extreme insults (such as telling you to die irl), are they perma banned? If so I'd probably make the effort to report them.

  • Personally, I'll probably be turning crossplay off when it arrives because I feel as if I'll have super potato teammates and easy killers. I've seen some footage of survivors just simply turning quickly and that can cause console killers to miss a hit because of low FPS.

Also, It's fun to run into streamers every once in a while so that I can watch the game back from their perspective. This would probably be a much rarer occurrence if I was able to go against console players.

  • Apart from there probably being a challenge to escape via the hatch with a key, I can't remember ever purposefully equipping a key to use in the next match as a survivor. It just feels so lame.

Can't say the same with Moris, though. Every once in a while I'll feel like going full out on OP add-ons and ebony Moris. My sprees don't usually last long though. Mind you, I have found myself using Moris more though just to complete challenges faster. Grinding through challenges can get tiresome.

Typically if I see a key, I'll tunnel or otherwise prioritise that survivors death over all others. Whoever brought the key must NOT escape! If I see a Mori, I sometimes won't really try and just want the game over with... OR I'll genrush like there's no tomorrow.

Remember when he used to say Dead Hard for everything? I still can't shake the habit of saying a survivor dead harded no matter what the survivor is doing. "He dead harded over to that generator." whiff Dead hard. *whiff again* still dead hard even though it was only two seconds later.

...then the survivor actually dead hards.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/I6R6GEX04G2S/300px-surprised-pikachu-hd.jpg

Yea, I used to watch his streams all the time and constantly heard 'DED ARD'! Was really funny because he would say it with a straight face, all the time.

To be fair though, DH didn't used to have an animation and P2P connections were a thing. So a little lag or skip could fool some people. But yeah, was hilarious.

  • Tru3 used to main killer from when he first started playing DBD. He has therefore grown a killer based audience, it would seem. So yes, if you watch his stream or read his YouTube comments there will always be fans of his... leaving 'constructive' comments about how easy survivor is and that Tru3 makes no mistakes and survivors OP.

That's kinda why I gave up watching his streams. Him and his community give a little too much 'constructive criticism' towards survivor players for simply playing the game. I mean, can you even imagine escaping as survivor without being a toxic SWF, sniping, genrushing or being in the 0.1% without stretched resolution and your brightness maxed out?

It's always the balance of the game that is at fault. Always. Survivors cannot out skill him. He can't make mistakes.

You might think I have always disliked watching tru3 but the truth is that I used to be a sub for over a year! Him and his community are a bit much for me now, though. But to each their own.

  • I lost my legacy 3 Hillbilly and Claudette in 2018. But even I would rather they never be returned if it meant that EVERYONE could grind for/receive all the legacy skins. This would completely alienate people who actually still have their legacy skins and their value would be trashed.

Legacy skins were released for old players who grinded for them in the early stages of the game, as you know. The only thing the devs need to resolve regarding legacy skins is to return legacy to those that lost them, like me!

I also don't accept your argument regarding devs wanting to 'get rid of' exclusives. I believe PAX and most other cosmetics acquired via entering a code were released to everyone because the Devs didn't want desperate people to get scammed, some of whom would pay hundreds of £££. I believe event cosmetics were released because there was still a small number of players who never had their lost event cosmetics returned to them. So they gave them to everyone. I would not want them to do the same thing with legacy.

Devs have already started waving the 'exclusive' cosmetics word around again, even if they did suggest they wanted no more exclusives at some point. They tweeted out just yesterday advertising TOME IV and added players could 'earn exclusive rewards'. They also mentioned via the in-game news popup during the 4th Anniversary event that crowns are 'exclusive' and 'time-limited'.

    TLDR;

As a player that lost L3 Hillbilly and Claudette, I would never accept 'grinding' in 2020 for legacy cosmetics because they were rewards for players 4 years ago, who have already grinded early on in the games life. I would however, accept a compromise for people who lost legacy cosmetics to retrieve L1/L2/L3 skins for 1 character based on how many times they prestiged before the deadline (via steam prestige achievements and possibly other proof such as screenshots/videos).

  • Such a silly challenge. To add to what you said, what if multiple people in the same game are wanting to complete the challenge?! Only ONE person is gonna be able to get it (if no one dies!), will prob have situations with people pointing at the exit gate until EGC finally forces them all out... or kills them. So silly.

Edit: After reading some comments, at least you can progress through it via multiple games. Hallelujah.

  • @Peanits The UI and skillchecks are MUCH too small for 1440p players. It's smaller than it has ever been before. It's ridiculous. Please scale the UI up more. I can't even imagine how difficult it would be to hit an Overcharge, Unnerving + Tier 2 Madness skillcheck.

    image.png
  • The devs have really outdone themselves this patch lol

  • Yup, I do this a lot. Survivors can't heal you for half a second or so when you're unhooked, so a friendly t-bag is a must in the mean time!

  • You could try playing strong killers such as Spirit, Nurse, Hag, Freddy, PyramidHead or Oni.

Recently I've started playing PyramidHead (at red ranks) and can't recall ever having less than a 2k. Mostly been getting 3/4ks at red ranks and I have only just started playing killer again.

If gens are popping quickly I suggest using anti gen perks. I've been using POP, Corrupt and Discordance. Works very well, especially early game. I have less gens to patrol and can end chases quickly with PH. This build means I am always regressing gens with POP and if they try to quickly finish 1 gen, I'll know of it with Discordance.

  • I don't like it. Trying to watch some new gameplay of him, but am having to mute Tru3's stream whilst he's in the lobby as he has the theme playing. Almost giving me a headache actually. Maybe the in-game chase music will sound better, though.

  • Dislike playing Hag.

Don't like her POV. Don't want to spend time learning how to place her traps effectively. I also feel I'd end up camping hooks or trying to 3 gen with her, which I would find boring.

    Also dislike playing against her.

  • Claudette. Was a filthy sabo Jake in 2016, but have mained Claudette ever since I earned legacy 3 on her... and it only feels appropriate to still main her even though I don't have legacy on her anymore.

The main reason I started maining Claudette in 2016 was because of Self-Care and because with P3 you could (and still can) effectively hide from the killer.

Mind you, I am still lvling up other survivors because it feels like a waste putting BP into a character that already has all perks. It's not like I have 500 flashes on her or anything.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

at that point you were dead already.

the killer would just wait near the hook to instadown you again after you unhooked yourself. and then you would be left on the ground for a full minute and a half before he picks you up again and hooks you.

if you even could crawl out during that time you would need DS or the result is the same.

there 1/1000 chance of deliverence saving you when you are alone in the map, and that's a generous number.

it would waste so much time for every person that having it work would be terrible for game health.

just take a hook for someone else before everyone else dies or leaves. deliverence is there to make it safe for you to do that.

If he had anti-slugging perks such as Unbreakable, Soul Guard or Tenacity along with his DS and Deliverance, he could well have escaped. Of course a full anti slug perk build like that is unlikely, but it's a possible build that would be incredibly useful (And kinda OP) in end game scenarios.

If Devs wanted to resolve this 'issue' (I guess), they could buff Deliverance so it allows players in such a scenario OP described to be able to attempt escape. They wouldn't need to reverse the hook changes so that every survivor without deliverance could attempt escape.

1 … 25 26 27 28 29 … 31
