This seems to be a result of long queues on the survivors side.
Essentially, matchmaking looks for players with a base range depending on your rank (e.g., making this up, but let's say it's +- 4 ranks of you. If you are rank 3, then your base range will be 1-7). For every X amount of time, it will increase that range if it can't find players within that range.
When queues take too long, the range expands really far, and it will essentially match you with anybody. Since survivor queues are really long compared to killer queues right now, you will get matched against the first killer / survivors that can be found.
I have been having consistently long queues so you're most likely right.

That's a weird change. I'm gonna miss climbing that tree :(

I used to practically live on both the Steam forums and these before I just fell out of the game for various reasons, the Legacy issue being the main one.
I highly doubt they will end up doing anything because they just don't want to deal with the responsibility this would entail. It's a shame, considering many developers would go out of their way to assist players who lost content outside of their control.
I see no reason why they cannot restore one Legacy if the person can prove it, I only have proof of my L3 Meg Head so that's all I would probably get back anyway.
A recent thread about someone mentioning the hypocrisy of giving back Event items but not Legacy seems to have been recently deleted. BHVR just kinda wants to bury this issue and act like it never happened, which goes a long way in showing how they actually care (or lack thereof) about this problem. I grinded for nearly 30 hours straight to eek out my L3 on the last day only to have problems outside of my control take away my hard work.
And BHVR refuses to assist no matter how much one supports the game. It's honestly really sad. This tone deaf response ignores what we are really asking.
Not for Legacy to become available again, but to give proper customer support to those who deserve it.
I believe the Devs stick to the excuse of because they can't automatically restore legacy to everyone (because of poor data management), they won't restore legacy to... anyone!
However, Mathieu said in a developer stream (April 6th 2017) that he's "Not exactly sure of the timing, but we'll be using mostly the timestamps of the achievements; so when you got your achievements specifically" ... "we'll rejigger the prestige, reinitiate that on your account".
As said here:
https://youtu.be/SN87dguT8jQ?t=133
So it's perfectly possible for the devs to restore one set of legacy for a chosen character simply by checking steam prestige achievements.
-
I was about to respond to your comment on the other legacy related post but for some reason that was closed and the recent comments were deleted.
Regardless, I'll copy and paste what I was going to say here:
+1
In the recent Q&A section, I've asked if they would restore legacy on a ONE by ONE basis by checking our steam prestige achievements. I'm only asking for 1 set of legacy back from this method because the prestige achievements only prove we prestiged 1 character 1/2/3 times before the deadline.
It's the bare minimum they could do with the least effort. After all this time I'd be happy with just getting one of my L3 skins back.
The process would be really simple too. We simply:
- Make sure our steam achievements are public
- Choose one character to receive legacy back on (e.g Claudette).
- Send a link to our steam profile to support (or our steam64id).
The support team then:
- Confirms we prestiged 1/2/3 times before the deadline.
- Gives L1/L2/L3 to our chosen character.
It's so simple. Hopefully the developers will take this into consideration, although I'm sure I will just get a blanket statement if they even answer it at all on their next stream :/.
Would you support what I suggested (only getting 1 set of legacy back based on achievements)?
P.S It's cool to see a familiar face. I remember you were on the steam forums a lot before people migrated to this forum.

Welcome back
-
It's obvious what you were doing wrong - Fell for fakes all the time, fell for ded ard's, didn't expect sprint burst, didn't face walls to avoid flashsaves, picked up mindlessly, didn't mow down the survivors in the basement with your chainsaw... didn't focus on one survivor.
Obviously you were matched with an experienced SWF and you're not at their level. Matchmaking certainly needs to be fixed because you shouldn't be matched with these players. (Actually it looks like they were smurfs or have deranked so that sucks).
If I was you in this situation (and new to the game) I would have just AFKed. Not like you did, though. Actually AFK, face a wall or lookup then go and watch YouTube or go get some tea. You gave them the attention they were craving in the basement when you stood still by continually charging your chainsaw - they knew you were still there.
I suspect after a few minutes they would've just finished the gens otherwise.
-
Any movements on the hook at all = Camping
Frantic and short movements on hook = Hard camping/Facecamping
No movement on hook = Not camping
-
As Orion said, this would abusable. I'll add more examples:
- What would happen if a survivor DCed and it was then a 1v1 situation. Normally, the hatch would spawn. However because it is technically a 2v1, what would happen? If the hatch does open in this situation, the DCed survivor could join back after the hatch has opened, be unhooked and they can then escape together. If the hatch doesn't open, wouldn't this create an awkward scenario for the remaining killer/survivor?
- If the killer brings a mori, would this still apply to the survivor that DCes if they reconnect. Maybe they could DC just before being hooked to avoid being moried after the unhook.
- This could be used by SWF to buy more time. 'Hey, you haven't been hooked so just DC and rejoin in a minute when we cleanse NOED, all heal up and are ready at the hook'.
- Going against a slug build and about to bleed out? DC to spawn on a hook and buy time.
It just wouldn't work very well. It might in fact encourage DCing. It would also require such a huge effort to ensure all affected perks still work reasonably.
-
Nope, if I'm trying to suicide on the hook there's a reason behind that.
-
Thanks for reminding me! It wasn't working yesterday but I just tried now and have connected my steam account.
-
I can relate to this very much... feels like 90% of the time I launch DBD I end up on the main menu for a few mins and just quit again. I can think of playing DBD for ages but when I actually launch it I just think of all the bad matchups I personally dislike facing and having to deal with.
Feels like 90% of games nowadays are playing with rank 20 teammates which are classed 'high ranked'. I swear it wasn't always like this. Yes, the ranking system has never been perfect. But I have never ever played with so many consistently boosted players that should never ever be at red ranks.
We'll get back to it eventually.
-
It's hard to say because the amount of balance changes that would have to be made up for the fact survivors play in first person would be immense.
It would probably be more scary I guess, but it'd still die off eventually except for the occasional jump scares. But I can't imagine it being fun at all. The game probably would have just died like Hide Or Die did.

@Deadbydaylight Hello...
I have a few questions. I'm playing DBD on the PS4 platform and got already my moments and experiences with DBD.
I'd like to know why there could be no other or similar „legacy event“ in the future where you can regain similar or perhaps almost the same outfits for the killer and survivor, because the active players of the console platform could never have the opportunity to unlock such outfits. I've already dealt with this subject a lot & I can understand the negative arguments.
But I don't understand that all the outfits were unlocked from the „The year of the Dog“ Event where you can got Special outfits like the hound mask for the huntress or the jacket for David King for EvErYoNe Years later, it feels like i waste my time because i played more hours for these Outfits and one year later every new beginner is running around with the mask today (and i know that there was a bug that caused some of these outfits to lose and there weren't many ways to solve this problem differently.
I just want to emphasise that maybe it's time to start a second legacy season)
That's why I ask the @devs to consider how fair it is to unlock event outfits for everyone, although all platforms could have participated in this event, but an event that had taken place in the initial phase of Dbd and the game was only AvAiLaBle to PC users never repeat, which I would annoy myself everytime I see the crossplay someone with legacy or some of my friends begin with Dbd and Tell Me that the mask now only represents a simple boring outfit.
That is not a hate comment or something like that, that is one of my questions because i play more that 3 years on ps4 and i want something that shows skill make ,for example a event were you have to kill a number of survivors to unlock a Outfit that looks like legacy or look just cool and maybe for every character or just a few.
I think something like this makes Dbd players happier than ever more new chapters that can never really be fully mature, as they will always cause another unequal weight in Dbd.
At least it would make me happier...
Thank you for your Time.
Personally I wouldn't mind future events with more 'exclusives'. But concerning legacy: I don't ever want legacy to be given out to everyone - only to be given to people who lost their legacy skins via a 1 by 1 basis.
I should mention I also never wanted the Howling Ground and BBQ skins to be given to everyone but BHVR did anyway. I also didn't really want the skins obtained from codes (from PAX etc) to be given out, but they were. So I wouldn't be surprised if BHVR gave out legacy to everyone anyway.
@JLew said:
Wow...i wish legacy would be a thing and i heard the old grind was insane and to lose all that time and effort just to be bugged out is infuriating....instead of actually just seeing your evidence they decide to be condescending tools and just keep dragging you along pretending they were actually doing something....ive learned in the past 3 years playing....that is their main method of operation....bs...bs...and more bs...good luck my man and great video...sorry u lost those hours
The Devs said that 1) They'll be using the timestamps from achievements to reinitiate legacy skins on people's accounts and on another occasion 2) Said that once the 'backend save files system' comes in, legacy prestige will be able to be refunded.
So... they essentially lied and led us on. Can't really think of another way to put it.
@LegacyPls said:
Made a forum account just to post that I too lost my legacy prestige years ago and I try to send a support email every couple months. They have always given false hope usually something along the lines of "It's something that will be addressed at a later date", and after 4 years all we have is a spot on an FAQ list and as of today an apology on why this can't be bundled in with the other cosmetics. Which I don't understand why that was even being considered in the first place. I feel like the devs don't have the data to prove who actually earned the cosmetics. The only way to confirm is with steam achievements and having someone manually check each ticket because the first couple months of the game someone could award themselves every achievement in the game. It's easy to spot those that abused that cheat and those that got the achievements naturally. They simply refuse to put in the time and investment toward verifying every case. It's not worth the time investment for them because those who earned legacy prestige are a vast minority and even more so those that lost it. Unfortunately, we are an insignificant amount of players to focus resources on when they can achieve greater success (money or otherwise) by putting those resources elsewhere. I still hold on to hope, maybe on the fifth year anniversary we will get some news.
Also, thank you Pepsi dot for your time bringing this back to the forefront I enjoyed the video!
I agree with everything you said! The Developers use the excuse that they can't refund EVERYONE that lost legacy via an automated process because they lost that data. But what they could do is look at evidence on a 1 by 1 basis. They could have a look at achievements, video/screenshot evidence (and maybe even look at old save files some of us still have backed up!). And as you suggested, it would be easy to identify the blatant achievement hackers as lots of them would have impossible achievement dates (such as getting P1, P2 and P3 in the same minute).
-
I'm not going to read every comment, but essentially it's because huntresses have to commit to a charge up time.
You hear the audio cue and have time to react to her animation. With deathslinger you don't if he shoots instantly. When I say she has to 'commit', I mean she can't just fake a shot without a survivor getting another loop. Whereas a deathslinger can because he can aim his gun pretty much instantly and puts away his gun instantly too. A huntress is slowed down when putting away her hatchet.
-
Huntress. If you want to be consistently good as huntress, you gotta have good aim, predict well and outplay survivors at loops. Skillful huntresses do all this but also know the specifics of what loops you can throw hatchets over, what gaps hatchets can be thrown through etc.
-
I think it's a necessary evil, although could do with some changes.
At the moment if I see no obsession as killer, I'm likely to 'tunnel' the weakest survivor, because I can. If I see an obsession I'm inclined not to do that in case they have DS. This is why I see DS as a necessary evil.

Probably not my most stressful, but was the most stressful game I recorded. It's kinda embarassing looking back it at it though. I played really, really badly, but it also represented my feelings about the direction of the game at the time.
-
I really cringe when survivors click click because 99% of the time they die very quickly...
-
I don't know why, but if I think of a wholesome moment I always think back all the way to this end game chat message in 2017:
(I'm Lemons, here). Can't remember why I was actually AFK, but the Nurse felt bad because she thought I was AFK purely because she was slugging. I probably just went for food or something. I just found this really wholesome and it's probably the most wholesome thing that's ever happend to me in DBD. She must have carried me to the exit and dropped me out, instead of hooking me.
@ApplesauseFabulous This you? :)
-
Yeah... I usually play with my brother 99% of the time. Just tried playing solo queue and it's just so, SO bad. Quit after one game. There's a pepega doctor that I run at and he gets confused, that even I can '360' (I'm horrible at it) and am confident I could loop for the whole game.
I look at my teammates and of course there's a mandatory urban evasioning Nea, a Dwight that looks like its his first game and a Meg that throws pallets, holds Shift + W and doesn't look behind her. The Doctor simply goes around the pallet and hits her...
I'm rank 1 and am very experienced. Please stop queuing me with other very inexperienced players. It's not fun, it's boring. Fix the matchmaking system and introduce core mechanics so that solo survivors get more of the advantages SWF get and buff killer in some way in return.
-
Not sure if you're looking for survivor or killer perk combos but... here are some survivor combos:
One of my favourite META perk combos is: Decisive Strike, Unbreakable, Soul Guard, Dead Hard. After being unhooked:
- You can't be hooked for 1 minute (unless you die instantly after hitting DS).
- You can't be slugged very well
- If you are slugged and the killer stands on you waiting for DS to run out, you can get up from the floor fast with unbreakable and basically get tank a hit with Soul Guard.
Dead Hard is just in this build because it's the best perk, it doesn't necessarily combo with the rest of the perks.
If you want to stun killers with lockers you can use a locker based build. Decisive Strike, Head On, Quick and Quiet and Inner Strength:
- Quick and Quiet lets you quickly jump in a locker without a notification or sound.
- Head On allows you to stun the killer after being in the locker for a few seconds (and if the killer is close enough).
- Decisive Strike is amazing in lockers but is even better if perfectly timed with Head On. You can either Head On a killer, jump back in the locker and use DS or the other way around (but that means perfect timing).
- Inner Strength allows you to heal after being in a locker for a certain amount of time if you have cleansed a totem. Combos nicely with the build.
The two above builds are best played with an aggressive SWF friend or 2... or 3.
Stealth build:
- Iron Will
- Urban Evasion
- Diversion
- Quick and Quiet
Solo survivor build:
- Kindred
- And uhm... any other perk. If you really want to, use Bond as well I guess. But I'd just go with the meta perks, Decisive Strike, Dead Hard and Iron Will.
Vault speed build:
- Spine Chill
- Resilience
- Dead Hard
- Iron Will
Spine Chill and Resilience are the only essential perks in the vault speed build as they allow you to vault faster under certain conditions. Dead Hard will help cover distance if need be and Iron Will be a useful combo for mind gaming loops.
Chest build:
- Plunders Instinct
- Ace In The Hole
- Any other perks. Could use Streetwise/Built to last for more duration on the items you find (but that's kinda overkill)
You could also use a 'shiny coin' offering to spawn more chests to loot from.
Altruistic build:
- We'll Make It
- Empathy
- Botany Knowledge/Desperate Measures
- Self-Care or No One Left Behind
The I hate myself build:
- No Mither
- Object Of Obessesion
- Self-Care
- Inner Strength
Fine! I'll do it myself build:
- Deliverance
- Decisive Strike
- Unbreakable
- Self-Care
I want Bloodpoints build:
- We're Gonna
LiveFarm Forever - Kindred
- Prove Thyself (For faster Objective points) or Bond/Empathy
- Borrowed Time
-
Any Means Necessary, Repressed Alliance, Pebble, Fixated/Kindred. If I'm not running meta perks I like to use the perks that give the game new kinds of mechanics to work with.
I'm hoping the devs release a perk so that I can break breakable walls. That'd be cool (not sure about balance wise though idk). Then I'll be able to lift up pallets, block gens, throw pebbles AND break walls. Fun.
-
@angardia Providing that you reported the player in-game, send the video evidence to support and that cheater will be banned. You can't name and shame on here (which is why I'm guessing you have been banned).
Edit: I'm gonna remove the quote cause I don't want to share that youtube link you commented.
-
Any elaboration?
-
I don't believe MMR is enabled right now, meaning the matchmaking system is based off of good old ranks.
-
I'm normally tabbed out and watching youtube/netflix by the time I'm slugged with no option to get up and only tab back in again to die faster on hook. I'd probably be thinking 'yikes' and that's it tbh.
-
As survivor:
I dislike potato survivors. (Don't look behind them, downed before I can count to 5, camp/waste really good pallets, run to a corner to heal, aka rank 20s that are somehow at red ranks).
I dislike a survivor that's only objective is to run around and get flashlight saves or attempt to get them. (Cough cough 5 gens need to be done and I'm not gonna do all of them whilst you do nothing).
I also mostly dislike urban evasioners. Most of the time they are putting the pressure and weight on every other survivor to do the work for them (Chases, gens) whilst they crouch and become one with the wall.
-
As survivor: Long chases where I save pallets by using windows as much as possible. I also like linking window loops together and generally mind gaming the killer. It's fun.
As killer? Not really sure. I don't really have fun playing killer anymore, although I guess a 'gg' would be gaining a bunch of BP, 2-3 kills and completing a challenge.
-
Best perk in the game. To be honest, its not a fair perk... it allows for survivors to greed loops often without much of a risk. Allows you to get to window/pallets you wouldn't have made it to otherwise.
Allows you to avoid an otherwise certain blink hit. You can YEET over bear traps, avoid plague (and corrupt plague), huntress, clown and deathslingers projectiles.
You can JUST make it in time for a clutch unhook or JUST make enough distance to get hit out the exit gate.
You can avoid certain hits with dead hard with inexperienced killers who don't expect it. You can use the invulnerability at unsafe dropped pallets (basically force the killer to commit and swing at you, DH and then vault the pallet and gain distance).
Getting farmed? Spam shift + E and the killer might hit the unhooker.
Not to mention, it can be used multiple times in a game.
The best thing about DH is that you can go for silly or otherwise risky plays and still have a backup plan. I won't lie, I use it 99% of the time I play survivor. I feel like I play too safe (and boring) without it.
But It's not fair, no... tbh. Feels so bad playing killer and mindgaming only for them to use DH to gain distance. But as survivor it's amazing.
-
Gen rushing is when survivors focus almost entirely on gens. Meaning they are gonna ignore totems, chests and maybe even unhooks in order to complete all the generators as fast as possible. If the game has gone on for a long time and all the gens haven't been completed, the survivors have not 'gen rushed'.
SWF is when survivors queue up with friends. Usually when doing so are using a voice chat, hence have a major advantage when compared to solo queued survivors. If you hear a killer mention 'swf' in chat, it basically means they're saying you only won because of the advantages that SWF gave you (e.g good coordination).
But yeah you seem to have gotten the gist of these terms.
-
Please don't encourage censoring the internet. I know there are some bad apples, but don't make everyone be restricted with their steam profile names because of a few people.
Steam users can report offensive usernames to steam (such as the example you've stated).

With this way they could only know they prestiged atleast one charackter. Also if they have their archivments private they cant check it (if it works that way on PC)
After years of waiting, receiving legacy 3 for one character would be amazing. I'd be so happy to just get one set of legacy back if they based it on prestige achievement dates.
I know that many others who lost their legacy would also prefer this over nothing. Please BHVR! @Peanits @not_Queen

- You see the Auras of all generators within 36 meters.
- The Repair Progression of Generators can be determined by the intensity of their Auras.
And either:
- You can tell whether the generator has been cursed. If the generator is cursed, its aura will change until the curse has vanished. (Essentially only helps if killer is using Dragon's Grip).
or:
- You can see the aura of the killer when they are 1/2/3 meters from a generator for 3/4/5 seconds within a 36 meter range, with a cooldown of 60/50/40 seconds (Could help in situations or even help loop around the shack for a short amount of time).
These changes would make the perk more appealing to solo survivors as it would offer some benefits of being in a SWF group. Although my last suggestion might be too much? Dunno.

Show me some videos I want to see that also it sucks to here you couldnt replace your save file. I know many people who lost their legacy did that before dedicated servers.
So I found the video after some searching, of someone who literally streamed themselves losing all of their progress - which in the same stream had also equipped Legacy prestige 1 meg for many of his games.
I've had a look at some of his recent twitch VOD's and he still hasn't been refunded his legacy p1 meg. Let that sink in. This is how little the developers ever cared about resolving the issue. Haven't even refunded a guy who lost his legacy ON STREAM!
Here's the upload of his stream:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyZ2yUiBkBUIt's just sad... but a perfect example of how little action the developers have taken to refund players their legacy skins.

They CANT give it back because they cant 100% detect who EARNED it back then. If they could track them, they could and would give it back.
If I could find the youtube video I'd show you, but players have literally lost all their progress (including legacy) on a live stream (with hours of footage of them using their legacy skins AND losing their progress in one stream) and haven't been refunded. I for one have video proof of losing all my progress, of me wearing my legacy skins in youtube videos, on a twitch clip and many, many steam screenshots. My prestige achievements also back me up.
We can throw as much evidence at the devs as we can, but they don't seem to even look at it. I'm saying this because your comment suggests that the developers WOULD give players back legacy if they could, but evidently, this is simply not true. I have emailed support countless times and they always said they're looking into it and it will be addressed in the future!
Also the thing is, many people lost legacy AFTER they migrated the saves to their 'secure' servers. Why aren't we refunded?! The funny thing is, I had 50+ backups of my local save file. If I had lost my progress before the migration, I would have simply replaced the corrupt file with one of my backups. Because I lost my progress on their 'secure' servers, I could no longer do this as they were no longer stored locally. That fact really triggers me.

In April 2017 Mathieu (Game Director) was asked "When will you guys refund legacy prestige for those that lost it in the lost data crisis?". Mathieu replied: "Not exactly sure of the timing, but we'll be using mostly the timestamps of the achievements; so when you got your achievements specifically" ... "we'll rejigger the prestige, reinitiate that on your account".
In July 2017, Mathieu was asked "When will those that lost their legacy item back in December get it back?".
Mathieu replied: "We don't have a system in place right now to fix that" ... "we still understand that it is very important and the people who had it" ... "it's the ultimate bragging rights, but we don't have a system in place to do it right now. So, you'll have to be patient" *Sips beverage*.
In August 2017 not_Queen (The community manager) stated that "Once the backend save file system comes in, legacy prestige will be able to be refunded". Mathieu replied with "Exactly".
In November 2017, the developers "Migrated save game data from Steam Cloud / local drive to the Dead by Daylight services for all players". This is according to the noted patches in the unofficial DBD wiki (albeit a very reliable and a trustworthy source).
So, it's a wonder why even the players who lost legacy skins AFTER the save game data was migrated to the Dead By Daylight services are not refunded their legacy skins. This is especially concerning since you mentioned you lost your legacy skins in 2019. Does this mean if someone lost their legacy today, it STILL wouldn't be refunded?!
So although the developers can now take the easy option and point out that they are no longer attempting to refund legacy skins, their past statements gave players the assurance that they would have their legacy skins refunded. So we have in a sense been given a false sense of assurance for years, only for the developers to now make a statement (albeit a few months ago), completely going back on many of their past statements. Shame.

I agree with what most people say, saying Legacy shouldn't come back. I want to stress it, I feel it shouldn't come back. But I hate the argument "people only want it because it's limited/event." I agree with the last 3 sentences this guy below wrote, but I don't agree with most of it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1652426#Comment_1652426
I would argue no one wanted the Scorching Summer because of the terrible skins, but because of the funny generator slushy machines (which is why I want it back, come on BHVR, we want our slushy machines.) Also, I see those skins ALL THE TIME. This could just be 2 different experiences, but I swear I see at least one of those "non used skins" at least once a day on a daily basis. Like, all you seriously telling me you don't see Dweard? From my thousand hour experience, it's one of the 15 most popular head pieces in the entire game (not including Default or Prestige). I still use Leather Hoodie for my Meg, The Studded Jacket (I think it was) is my favorite Jake torso cosmetic, I love Claudette's Retro Windbreaker. I know these are just "me" but I'm sure at least 10 other people feel the same.
There are some Ultra Rare used to be event skins that aren't used, but only because they are bad skins (In my opinion). Nobody like the Lunar Red shirts Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, and Feng have; As I said, the Scorching Summer BBQ skins were terrible; Aside from Jeff's and maybe Kate's, the 4th anniversary crows were terrible (you only use it on them to make Jesus Jeff and one of his Angels, Kate).
Sure, there are some people that only want Legacy because they don't, that happens in every game with limited time items. But to dismiss EVERYONE because of them is stupid. If I had Legacy on the original survivors that have it I would.
- Have Legacy Dwight pants, with his Blue-Gray Waistcoat and Hip Retro Trilby (maybe). I'm not sure if it would look good, but I want to try it. If it's as good as I imagine, it would replace his Brown Pants in that outfit.
- Use Legacy Claudette Pants with her Halloween Blight Apron, and her gold recolor of her silver outfit from the rift's head. I feel it would look neat.
- Legacy Nea's pants (I just realized they are all pants) with whatever I use. Whenever I play Nea I like to be agressive, and I liked her Default pants and the only other option is Prestige and Default. Her Legacy pants is (imo) the best in the default forms of her pants, and would help standing out more.
- Legacy Wraith's weapon (I have his set from the current rift, except his weapon and I don't think I'm gonna get it in time, so this would be the best replacement for it.)
Sorry if this was very unorganized, but I just don't like that one argument in particular so much.
I should clarify, as I actually agree with some of what you said. I don't think EVERYONE wants legacy just because it's exclusive, but I feel like the vast majority of people that DO want legacy skins, simply want them because they don't have already have them. Players for some reason feel entitled to have them. Just like when players felt entitled to code skins.
Below are some past skins previously known as 'exclusive' code skins that were gained from certain events. Mixed in with them are their alternative and freely accessible outfit that everyone can access (albeit they were released later on).
I've purposefully mixed them up so it's more difficult to identify what was previously 'exclusive', and what has also been freely available for years. I personally get confused between the Claudette variety of the 2 skins. The previous 'exclusive' variety of these skins above were sought after - people purchased codes for some of these exclusives for hundreds of $$$. Even after recoloured versions of the 'exclusive' skins above were released, some players did not stop complaining. This is despite the fact that there isn't (IMO) much of a difference between them, except that some of the skins were 'exclusive', and some weren't (and still aren't).
That's why I'm inclined to believe that it is the same situation with legacy skins. People simply want legacy skins because they don't have them already, not particularly because they like the skins. There are so many stylish skins (and not to mention hallowed blight skins) and constant updates with newly available skins to choose from.
Also, you suggest from your personal experience that you see quite a lot of people use previously 'exclusive' skins. But I'm afraid, that's where we differ. For example, I hardly ever see people one of the most sought after 'exclusives' - the golden Feng shirt that people paid a lot of money for (illegitimately, of course).

I don't really want to write out a huge list of my dream patch notes, so I'll just name my most sought-after patch note (which will never happen, I know):
We have identified many of the players who were affected by the loss of progress bug, resulting in their Legacy skin(s) being lost. We have refunded these players with their original legacy skins and will review evidence of further reported lost legacy skins.
It is recommended that you send us as much evidence as possible when informing us of what legacy skins you lost, including:
- Steam screenshots
- Videos (Including YouTube or even relevant Twitch clips)
Important: Steam achievements MUST be public and you MUST have prestiged before the 24th November, 2016. Anyone that sends us a false report may face temporary or permanent in-game suspension.
If you lost your legacy skins and have not yet been refunded, please contact: ........................................
We deeply apologize for this and thank you for your patience (no cap this time).
That'd be my dream patch note! :)
-
Players begged for (and in some cases paid a LOT of money for):
- Past event skins (Howling Grounds, Scorching Summer BBQ)
- Exclusive code skins (Street meg, dweard, chuckles etc)
Now... how often do you actually see people use these cosmetics now that they're available and some of which show at the front page as 'ULTRA RARE'? I hardly EVER see anyone use these skins anymore, even though there was a huge outcry for them. My point is: People only want legacy skins because they're rare. If they were readily available, after a while hardly anyone would use them anymore. Let the players that still have and earned legacy enjoy it, please.
I honestly don't mind other 'legacy' like skins for other characters, but skins that are exclusive should stay exclusive. Otherwise they were never exclusive in the first place.

As I repeatedly point out, DS used to be built-in, and only last for 15 seconds after the survivor came off the hook, but killers were unhappy that they couldn't use the "strategy" known as tunneling right off a hook. Maybe you legitimately feel different here, but it seems the real issue is that survivors have a counter to tunneling. Whether it was the original built-in counter, or the current 60-second, single use counter that survivors have managed to make an offensive perk. It doesn't bother me that it upsets killers. The only reason it exists to begin with is because many killers decided that camping/tunneling were reasonable strategies. As such, survivors needed a means to counter those. As many times as killers want to say it, the strategy is not to simply not get caught. As I've mentioned on other threads complaining about this, there is no such thing as not getting caught.
Devs have forced survivors to get up close and personal with killers because of the ranking system. If they don't do that, then they de-rank. If they do, they inevitably wind up in a chase. If they wind up in a chase, the killer has a number of built-in advantages, from ever-increasing speed, to the fact that pallets are limited, to the powers and perks they get to bring in themselves. Take away all the perks and add-ons, and the killers still have the speed-advantage. Unless the survivor can juke the killer, as long as the killer commits, they will absolutely win the chase.
DS and pop cannot be compared, because DS is a single-use perk, and Pop can be used every time someone is hooked. The argument you make seems to stem around each survivor carrying it, but, again, because of the ranking system, each survivor has to protect themselves. I may not bring DS because I think a killer will tunnel or camp me; it may be because I expect a stupid teammate to unhook me right in front of the killer's face, minus borrowed time. If I have to be punished for the mistakes of my teammates, despite the ranking system demanding I worry about number 1 here, then I'm not super concerned if killers feel punished on the off-chance that everyone brings in a DS. Most of the time, I never get to use it anyway, because the killer either slugs me, or I run the killer long enough that they can't down me in time for me to be able to use it. Yes, I will admit that toward the end-game, I try to use it offensively, but more often than not, that doesn't work for me, as it takes longer than 60 seconds to come off a hook, get healed, go try to pull someone off the hook, let them get away as I take the hit, and then get picked up. The ONLY time it's ever really worked in the end-game is if the killer is trying to slug, and I force them to pick me up by crawling toward the exit. That is literally it.
Those plays could be countered by not hooking people two feet from the exit. You want to taunt people by putting them on a hook near the exit gate or the hatch, then that's what happens. My absolute favorite video on Reddit involves a Ghostface hooking a survivor right next to the hatch, and proceeding to bag right in front of him. He 4% and hopped right into the hatch. Absolutely deserved.
What do you mean DS used to be 'built-in' and lasted for '15 seconds' after the unhook? It's never been like that.
Are you confusing DS with BT? (Although BT has never been 'built-in' either).

Same as you, OP. I dislike playing against Trapper's since I play so badly. I loop weirdly, constantly try and greed the amount of distance I can get to avoid having to use a pallet/window, avoid grass as much as I can and always think there's a trap with every pallet/window I use. It's horrible.

+1 Please add more ways to collect WGLF tokens. I don't want to waste time taking (mostly) unnecessary hits or have to rush to a hook to get there before another survivor does. And as you said, the flashlight and pallet saves already gave WGLF tokens. So hopefully they've added a new way of collecting em...

I remember infinities, actual facecamping, wRaiTh oP posts, being very active on the steam forums, watching a LOT of Tru3Ta1ent, traps under hooks, being a DISGUSTING sabo jake, bing bonging as wraith for BP, hearing about some kind of 'UBER' prestige. (Wonder what that was about?!)
I also for some reason remember... there being A HUGE AMOUNT OF PALLETS. I wish I had a screenshot of the old bloodlodge. I remember old NOED, wanting Iron Grasp 3 really bad (due to hooks not respawning) and FINALLY finding it again in a bloodweb on Hillbilly, after many bloodwebs. It was basically a must have perk in case of saboteurs:
I also remember playing, or rather attempting to play SWF with my friends for hours. When I first started, SWF was just introduced (I believe) and was really, really buggy. It would 'search' for a game, but not really. Had to keep readying up for what felt like every 5 seconds until it finally found a game and didn't bug out. Even if a game was found, if the killer left the lobby we would have to search again! Was really bad.
One last thing I remember is changing my steam location to Toronto because apparently that helped with matchmaking times as many people caught onto it. Those days are gone.

You're asking who uses the perks, suggesting that hardly anyone uses them.
That's exactly why they're being buffed. To encourage people to use them. As survivor, I'm really liking the sound of the Only Means Necessary buff, even if it's still niche.
-
Sometimes I'll tbag when greeting survivors or 'ty' tbag after being unhooked, but the killer may feel like I'm BMing them.
I have been tunnled a few times by killers thinking I was disrespecting them, when in reality I never realized they were even near me when I was tbagging in the first place.
-
Survivors dislike slugging (more than they do when hooked) because:
- You can be slugged more times than you can be hooked, and in quick succession.
- You can spend twice as long bleeding on the floor than you can on a hook (can spend 4 mins on floor).
- Being a slug can be frustrating. Killers often slug for a 4k or simply to be toxic, then hook you when you're about to bleed out. Slugging can be associated with that and the most 'tryhard' killers, builds, slug builds etc. It has a 'boring' reputation. (Ever gone against a Nurse main with a few thousand hours using a pure slug build?). Makes survivors feel helpless if they're repeatedly slugged and in quick succession.
- It can heavily prolong matches which are often already lost. Some survivors would just rather be hooked, die and move on. End our suffering. We don't wanna be slugged, healed to injured state only to have a short chase (against a Nurse or other strong killer), be slugged again and repeat. We feel powerless, useless and the exciting gameplay consists of bleeding out on the floor...
You asked. That's why slugging can be boring.

Someone likes endgame chat? Something remotely positive comes out of it every 1 in 20 games.
For me, end game chat is part of the DBD experience, whether chat is negative or positive. It's great and it can be really funny sometimes.
A part of the experience is lost when playing with others from another platform. No communication - as soon as you die on the hook, escape, sacrafice all survivors etc - that's it. That's just weird to me.

- BHVR did a pretty good job so far
- Mori's and keys need to be nerfed to the ground
- Best streamer is Otz
- Devs need to fix bugs
- Infinites are and were never a 'mind game' (*cough cough* Mathieu)
- Crossprogression should be a thing between consoles, PCs and every other device except mobile (I realize this is largely out of BHVR's control, but it's still something everyone wants).
- There should be fortnightly Dev streams! (Cmon, what happend?! We used to be spoilt and have one every WEEK!) :(
- We should receive feedback on player reports so that we can recognize our reports are having an impact on cheaters/griefers.
- No mither is a terrible perk
- There should be more skins in the shop that can be purchased with shards.
- Some aspects of legendary skins such as a characters head and hair that doesn't impact the rest of the body cosmetic in anyway should be mix and matchable. Killer weapons should also generally be mix and matchable in legendary skins.
- Matchmaking ranking system needs to be improved/reworked (MMR 2.0?)

Well, it's not always something in-game. Some days I'll be like 'hmm I kinda wanna play DBD' ... then I launch it, go back and fourth on whether I wanna play killer or survivor and if killer what killer/build I'm gonna play.
Then I just think... 'well actually... I don't really want to play DBD'. I think I ponder too much, start thinking of all the worst scenarios such as ebony mori's, iri head, swf clicky clicky squads and all the stress with it. Then I just quit and watch youtube/twitch!
I'm a bit weird.
