I'm pretty sure Legacy wasn't even a thing anymore by the time DBD came to console

Yeah legacy came out when DBD was only available on the PC. So there is no possible way users can have legacy on other platforms unless they're hacking or if and when cross progression/play is implemented.

Yes ik my point was they made the skin too exclusive and thus pointless bc you never see it anymore.

I actually see it whenever I play survivor. My brother has L3 Meg and always plays with me lol... feelsbadman. It's a constant reminder of my lost L3 Claud and Hillbilly!

This is a very well done video, hat tip on the effort you put into it first of all.

I had honestly forgotten about this since so much time had gone by. I started playing in December 2016 so I never experienced the "true" grind.... But the grind even then was SO much more than it is now.

Maybe it's because I'm older and value my time so much more than when I was younger, but I feel like hundreds (if not thousands) of hours invested is truly something, especially if it is difficult. So while I never had Legacy, my LOP after 600 hrs was a knife to the heart and indescribably deflating... I can't even begin to imagine having lost Legacy Prestige.

I stand 100% in solidarity with all these players who lost their Legacy. I feel bad that I ever even complained about how long it took to get my BP refund. Of course, we need to acknowledge how sacred those cosmetics are and not allow them to be falsely awarded to undeserving people - which I think is the dev's (and should be our) main concern.

But given the dedication of their early fan base and amount of enthusiasm shown for what was a very troubled-but-fun game, I feel like the dev's owe it to the true Legacy players to appoint a small team dedicated to proper Legacy restoration. I think the entire community collectively has bought enough DLC and skins alone to fund that project... Not to mention the sheer volume of new players who we're brought to the game by these early die-hards. Do right by the players, build/maintain community trust, put the issue to bed forever. That's my $.02

Thanks for your comment. It really sucks to have lost the legacy cosmetics because I remember grinding for a stupid amount of time each day to get them. It feels really bad knowing the devs could do something about it, but they refuse to put in the effort and resources to resolve the issue.

Instead, from time to time we get blanket statements and nothing is done. If we email support we just get copy and pasted emails... we've had the same copy and pasted emails for 4 years!

Here's a snippet of the most popular copy and pasted email we get if we contact support:

    • "I'm really sorry for the trouble. Although the lost Legacy Prestige skins are important, we can't address this issue right away. I assure you that your lost Legacy skins will be addressed in the future" ... "Thank you for your understanding."

Wish the devs cared. They said before legacy skins were released that they were a reward for those that went through the long grind. But maybe they've forgotten about that now. All those hours wasted when there was no point prestiging in the first place.

Get this player their legacy back!!!

Wish they would set up a system so we can send in proof.

I know many of us are fine with only receiving one of our sets of legacy back... and it can be confirmed via prestige achievements that we at least prestiged ONE character once/twice/three times before the cut off date. Yeah, steam achievements don't show which characters we prestiged but does that really matter? They show many times we prestiged. They all took the same amount of time to grind and we deserve to get something back after all these years...

As far as I know, this is being solved by:

    1. Mailing Customer Support.
    2. They verify the Old Data with your account.
    3. They send you the cosmetics if your accounts are able to be verified.

    What more can they do?

I sent one of my 50 backups to support (as seen in the video) however they rejected it and said they could not 'manually' replace save files. This is despite not_queen essentially stating that when the THEN local files are stored on their servers, legacy would be able to be refunded. Yes, I lost legacy when they were using their own servers to store save files!

I've messaged support saying that I can send them proof such as MANY steam screenshots, videos and that they can see my steam prestige achievements to confirm I did at least prestige one character to prestige 3 before the deadline. (I prestiged two to prestige 3 though).

So the question is not 'What more can they do?', it's 'What have they actually done regarding this issue?'.

  • Imagine using OoO on the new map... the killer would take so long to catch up to you. I don't like the new map either.

  • I think it's absolutely fine on in-door maps. Stealthy killers essentially otherwise get free hits.

Spine chill is the kind of perk that would never be created nowadays. It's got a huge 36 meter range and other benefits to it such as faster vaulting speed. But I really don't know if I'd go as far as to nerf it.

  • Are you playing on console? Maybe flashlights are more of an issue there, but on PC they're easy to deal with.

Simply look down/up to avoid chain flash blinds. That's all...

  • @Mister_xD said:

honestly, i do kinda wish they made them brown and those who had them earlier have them in pink.

it'd still be the exact same cosmetic, but at least there'd be a way to show my friends i had the cosmetic before it was given out to everyone...

Players that had the exclusive cosmetics before they became... not exclusive have the cosmetics shown in their steam inventory.

So you can flex by having an item showcase on your profile! Or friends could simply check ur steam inv.

  • There used to be very noticeable autoaim as killer. You'd often hit survivors you weren't going for, meaning survivors that body blocked for each other were nightmares.

I don't think any killer play wants that back!

On second thoughts though, are you playing on console? I've heard because of the low FPS 360ing can be hard to deal with sometimes.

  • Event cosmetics were returned to people that lost them. Unfortunately the devs... well let's just say aren't the most reliable! Many users still did not receive all of their cosmetics such as the one you mentioned.

I'd say contact support - but knowing my experience with lost legacy cosmetics... I wouldn't bother. But you never know, I guess.

  • Honestly... I find that spirit is easier to play than other killers if you're an experienced killer player. I know it's kinda a meme but if you have a good headset when playing spirit, it's not THAT difficult to play as her. It really isn't, especially against the potato survivors that are making it to red rank nowadays.

There is no chase music when phasing so you can hear survivor footsteps and moans more clearly than other killers would. You can also get a good sense of where a survivor is going to be before even phasing... by just standing still for a few seconds. Have they committed to running away or are they walking and back tracking to try and 'mind game' you? Well... stand still for a few seconds and you'll find out.

She can suffer from gen rushing and coordinated SWF, but all killers have these problems. My point here is that her power is not as hard as many people try and make it out to be.

Not to mention, passive phasing doesn't require any skill and can catch survivors off guard. I will admit though, she is a little bit harder to play after her collision and window vault nerfs.

Add faster movement whilst phasing and longer duration addons and gg. The best thing to do against a good spirit player is to run as far as you physically can in hopes that she can't phase for a long enough duration to reach you. Otherwise, a good spirit player will catch you 90% of the time.

If you haven't noticed... I kinda dislike playing against spirits!

  • You can still close the chat and I believe you can have it auto turned off by changing a boolean in the GameUserSettings.ini. Look for "ChatDefaultVisibility=True" and change it to from True to False.

Furthermore, if the comments are hurting you this much perhaps you should edit your steam privacy settings so that only friends can comment on your profile - or you could disable everyone from commenting.

  • Either allow both sides to see each other's names, or allow no side to see each other's names.

  • If your suggestion was implemented mori animations for every killer would go to waste. The only way of using them would be if you have 5 stacks of Devour Hope or are using Rancor.

  • Pretty much every time I play DBD. My brother has L3 Meg and I only really play SWF nowadays.

  • There are no Ultra or brown perks anymore because there was a bug which meant that the brown perks (and yellow perks?) wouldn't appear until you maxed out all other perks. (Or something like that).

The Devs probably thought it'd be easier to change the perks to how they're ike now rather than finding the underlying bug.

I remember getting ultra rare DS, SC, SB when I was only lvl 20 on Ace. But then again I had to max out my hillbilly to get Iron Grasp 2...

  • He's boring because:

    - PGTW and BBQAC. He just TPs to a gen you've almost finished and kicks it. If your teammates are bad, you've lost. Try popping a gen when ur survivors go down incredibly quickly, only to have the progress you've done be depleted every time, after he TPs to ur gen across the map. Makes you feel like you've done nothing and may as well have AFKed the last 20 seconds.

    - You can't loop against Freddy. He places a snare either side and wallah, he gets a free hit UNLESS you camp the pallet. But even then he's a small killer and could possibly mind game it and hence he makes already bad loops... almost unviable. He also makes jungle gyms and the shack unviable with 1 or 2 traps.

    - You get into dream state every 60 seconds. I wouldn't call that 'skill' on the Freddy's part.

    - BT doesn't work against him unless ur out of dream state. Feels undiserved just because of a timer or because he hits you as he's camping (Goes against the point of the perk).

    - His lunge often feels off because he's a small killer.

    - His fake pallets do not take skill. Just walk placing them. Sure if ur In a chase as he places them, you know they're fake. But if ur one of the other 3 survivors without LOS and not in SWF you don't know they're fake. Or maybe you kind of know the area, but which pallet is fake? You'll find out the next time ur in a chase. Guess wrong twice and you're dead.

    - He gets free gen pressure. He can fake TPing whilst in a chase to waste a few seconds of the survivors time. Survivors must respect or risk getting hit. Skill? Not really.

Pretty much all of these little things combined together make him boring to play against. Also it's not a sudden new hatred. He was hated more when every Freddy brought PGTW, BBQAC, old ruin and his pre nerf slowdown add-ons, thanatophobia.

The problem is, as outlined above, they can't tell just from the achievement which legacy skin(s) you had. So there's still not enough proof there for them to be able to reliably restore the appropriate lost cosmetics.

I have a bucket load of steam screenshots showing my legacy prestiges and some videos too, but they don't want to see them. But despite of that, I still feel they owe us a set of legacy cosmetics (depending on how much we prestiged before the deadline). Doesn't matter what characters I really did prestige - they would have all taken the same amount of grinding. Hence even if some people did choose a different character they didn't previously have legacy on, I feel it's fair. Remember: We didn't choose to lose out legacy cosmetics and spent hundreds of hours grinding for them in the early stages of this games life. We lost them through no fault of our own (and I actually had 50+ backups of my save file).

    dbdbackups.png

  • I hope the devs start recognizing that people have the prestige achievements to backup their claim of earning legacy. Please let us get one set of our legacy back based on our prestige achievements. That's all I ask! I had L3 Hillbilly and Claudette but would be content with just L3 Claudette at this point.

  • Devs: Reduce rank reset so you don't go back to rank 15 and rek new players

Also Devs: Potentially removing the entire ranking system

At first, it sounds like a great idea for me personally. I'll rek some inexperienced killers. But then I realize... I've already been doing that at rank 1. I constantly face rank 11 killers who don't know what they're doing and... It's BORING!

As well as facing noobie killers, I often get really really bad teammates. Urban evasioning across the map, immersed, still scared of the killers TR etc etc. So having experienced all this... do I want ranks removed? NO! Please, no.

If ranks are removed SWF will be more necessary than ever, killers will be easy to play against and playing killer will be boring for experienced killers, whilst frustrating for new killers facing more experienced survivors.

  • LynxiTime is really chill.

  • If you're wearing dark clothing or prestige cosmetics as Claudette, unfortunately it is my duty to mori you. Kinda moring blendettes for the meme.. but a part of me kinda dislikes them anyway. We've all had those games where no gens are being popped - instead they're crouching around the map cleansing totems and hiding in corners.

Blendettes are boring to play against as killer AND to play with as survivor.

Honestly the game should offer in game chat for the survivor team and balance the game around that. Survive with Friends is no longer a competitive advantage. Solo que can make some new friends, better in game experience and buff killer role / balance the maps. But every idea is not a good idea or feasible to implement

Console players would be at a disadvantage from your suggestion.

Although along with your idea, perhaps give survivors constant aura of other survivors and more emotes to communicate with. Solo survivors still won't be at SWF level, but it's closer. All killers can then be buffed slightly in return, meaning the balance between SWF and solo closes.

The only other way of significantly closing the gap IMO is to just allow voice chat for all survivors. Although, I wouldn't particularly want that.

  • I like playing and going against billies. He can punish cocky survivors and be punished for getting greedy for m2's.

He's also got amazing map pressure. It's so nice to be able to get around the map easily. You can cut off the exit, get to gens before they're popped. Best of all you can down and punish badly positioned survivors instead of giving them a speed boost to pallet town.

He's also fun to play against at jungle gyms. Makes the mindgame payoff feel much more rewarding.

The only change Billy needs is his chainsaw noise. When playing as Billy it can get annoying and I don't want tinnitus.

  • What's next? 'People have now moved on from selling exclusive cosmetics to selling legacy accounts to selling RIFT cosmetics and now they're even selling DBD's base game for cheap! We have therefore taken the decision of releasing all skins for free and making DBD free to avoid any further issues with 3rd party sellers.'

Awful addition. This is an ama. There was no question

My mistake. Sometimes I will take the bait on posts like this - it is often hard to tell whether a post is sarcastic or genuine due to the nature of this community. You got me this time.

  • @ba_tetsuo said:

Addendum to my previous balance ideas: I would also be fine if DS only proc'd if you get unhooked more than 32 meters away from the killer. If you unhook someone right in front of me, there should be punishment, not free escape.

With your idea killers could tunnel and hard camp any survivor without DS activating. That kind of defeats the purpose...

And survivors need to learn that they do not deserve to escape. So we are back at square one. Thanks for participating, have a nice day.

I wouldn't have too much of a problem with slugging for the 4k if it weren't for the fact that killers will sometimes slug survivors for 4 full minutes before they finally bleed out. Unbreakable? You or the other survivor will be found again, downed and slugged again... further prolonging an already won game (for the killer). Healed? Same thing will happen again.

OP's suggestion of survivors bleeding out faster is therefore great. It lets everyone including the slugged survivor carry on with their day and move on. No one wants to be slugged for 4 straight mins.

  • I personally love being slugged for 4 mins so a killer can satisfy themselves with a 4k. Idk how anyone has a problem with it. Just use Unbreakable; if he finds you again he definitely won't slug you again!

  • You can infinitely loop a scratch mirror Myers because he doesn't get bloodlust and has a much slower movement speed. So on any map other than an in-door one, he's useless. Although the addon is generally amazing on in-door maps.

  • I haven't gone anywhere yet. BUT it will bring me back into playing killer. He seems fun to play and I used to play a lot of CS:GO before DBD so I like to think my aim is... aight. Should be fun.

  • It feels like I hear survivors breathing more than I hear their footsteps. Neither of which I hear very frequently.

  • I'm getting him for free with shards. It's a no brainer... I got plenty.

  • I've just received my Untamed Donkey Jacket! Hurrah! Anyone else?

  • Its literally just a QOL change. Whoopdeedoo survivors can use 1% more of their items without accidentally using it all up...

  • @Atchoo Thanks for the updates

  • So TLDR: Slugging and bleeding out survivors = SWAT.

I feel like this post is heavily exaggerated. The most I've been threatened with in 3k+ hours is a DOS attack (which never happened). Of course I've been threatened physically but I never take those seriously, just laugh at their pathetic attempts of scaring me over a game.

There will always be a special kind of person who does SWAT, but the likelihood of it happening to anyone here is extremely unlikely IMO.

  • Taking our INTERNET!!! Just kidding. But it could be because someone's downloading and hogging the bandwidth.

  • I believe ages ago you used to be able to M1 lockers and see partially through them. So to fix this issue the Devs universally changed the killers FOV.

Kind of a bandaid fix though. Mind you that might've not been the reason but I believe it was.

  • I've had PTSD ever since I vaulted an infinite window as killer in 2016.

  • @Temperance said:

Yeah I would very much love to play at 144hz instead of 60, but I won't risk it. Hopefully they add that as an option soon.

People have been playing at 144hz for years. I've even known mods to help users change their config and they themselves change their capped FPS.

In fact I recently changed my limit from 144 to 165 and have had no problems for years.

  • So essentially, you want people to stop suiciding in order to open the hatch? I'm guessing a survivor got the hatch and you are a bit annoyed.

If you cant stand the last survivor getting the hatch, slug the second last survivor (if the hatch has already spawned), find the hatch and then hook.

  • Matchmaking, dedicated lag and gen speed.

  • Hate em. Pls stop urban evasioning around the map getting all the totems and chests for 10 mins without touching a gen.

I don't mind somewhat stealthy teammates. But it's the ones who hear a faint TR and instantly hide or the ones who crouch walk all the way to the hook that annoy me. If they DO get found they die in 2 seconds. Sometimes I think if they ran in a straight line they'd last longer. (How are they in red ranks?)

Boring to play against as killer and very frustrating to play with as survivor.

  • The Devs have said that they are returning lost event cosmetics to people that lost them. However there has been delays because of some 'hiccups'.

    Take that as you will...

  • If there was cross progression, I'd probably buy a Switch unless mobile DBD is out soon.

  • Casual play has existed throughout the years, if you're low ranked. However if you're high ranked casual play doesn't really exist as killer. That's the harsh reality. If you play enough you will unfortunately start stressing when playing killer.

  • The only way to avoid being found by a killer using whispers is either by masking where you are by being near another survivor OR by following the killer around, so their whispers is almost always on.

But neither solutions are that good and if a killer is good enough and you're the last survivor you will be found. It's just a matter of when you will be found... unless you're lucky enough to get the hatch.
