DS never bothered me as Killer, but this? This frightens me.

I think instead of punishing Killers for tunneling, we reward them for un-tunneling (?). Increased BP for hunting down another Survivor after the one you hooked is rescued, perhaps.

Ideas involving balancing this game around the idea that people always change their behaviors based on in game currency rewards need to stop. Some of us just want to play the sport and win. Points are nice, but I won't jeopardize losing the game for them.

Ah you’re one of those people. “Killers I dont like take no skill” so yeah an entitled survivor then.

lmao at naming deathslinger. Good killers dont get spun but deathslinger takes no skill....lmao. You realize deathslinger requires far more consistent aiming all game than hitting a simple 360 right? Sure as hell takes more skill than holding W and hitting space bar

Oh no, a killer who cries about 360s is calling ME entitled. Oh, the irony.

  • @Kebek said:

Do your realise that last time kill rates were shown, they were as high as they were because solo survivor is uncoordinated mess of potatoes ?

It's much easier for single killer to do well vs bad survivors as he relies only on his own gameplay then to rely on 4 different people who all do random terrible decisions seperately. Obviously the side with only 1 player to make all the decisions will have better results overall unless you make proper matchmaking which won't let bad players into higher ranks.

Kill rate wasn't so high because killers are too strong (we all know how much stronger top tier SWFs are) but because so many survivors are bad the game and extremely uncoordinated across all ranks.

    This person gets it ^^^^^

If you are better than the killer you verse then why the need to spin them? You could just... Uhmm.. You know... Loop them?

Can't loop in a dead zone. But sometimes, you can loop a rock, wall or tree and 360, which will make a good killer miss bc I can be quite unpredictable. It's all about those sweet mind games.

Also since when does better mean, you must have the ability to run them all game! Don't be so dramatic.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1968707#Comment_1968707

If good killers don't get spun then why do you want 360s in the game so badly ? So you can ruin the experience of inexperienced killers ?

Wait a second. I'm not allowed to spin a player not as good as me? As if matchmaking doesn't give me crappy team mates handing you wins for free ALL the time? As if killers don't get half their hits through pallets and lag? Yeah we'll just not talk about abusing that huh lol.

Uh huh, I'm okay spinning less experienced killers. Ofc, it's far more fun spinning good killers! If you're good and get spinned well, play better next time!

This coming from someone who thinks twiddling their mouse to spin around like a helicopter in game is high skill gameplay.

Can you spin killers? Consistently to the point of justifying threads like this? No really I'd love to know.

And please, as if killers didn't have things that take 0 skill cough insta hatchet, cough freddy, spirit, deathslinger cough cough cough.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

it's so imo because once again it doesn't work against good killers it's just annoying since you have to take a second to set up so you don't miss.

they are honestly not needed, the speed at which survivors move like that just looks ridiculous and for killers they do work against why are needed when survivors already have so many other advantages.

guess we can expect to see more montages of bully squads in low ranks that will turn away even more would of been killers.

It's fun for survivors. god forbid. And it's not op. What other justification do we need? None. You being triggered by it doesnt justify it to be taken away from us.

They need to incentivize survivors to unhook or something

They do. You get points and it helps you win the game. Problem is this game breeds low quality players and then ranks them up to the highest bc, "excuses."

  • @th3 said:

Maybe run kindred. Also I don't usually prioritize saving a bad teammate over other things so maybe consider how you are playing.

You'd be shocked how little kindred helps with randos.... I use it a lot, I love kindred. But I have definitely been left to die for no acceptable reason. Too many survivors are just that clueless.

You have been here since 2017 and you haven't come to terms with how the system matches people up? I find that hard to believe.

Well back in 2017 this game took very little skill for survivors. Now that they've nerfed survivors it is reasonable to say a decent team is needed to go up against a decent opponent who doesnt have to rely on good team mates to win like you do.

This is the dbd forums right? Where the game is discussed? Along with feedback, suggestions and criticisms? Do you have an actual counter argument or are you just going to waste my time?

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1963106#Comment_1963106

How new are you? :) The Pips help you earn Rank but your Rank has less to do with who you are matched with than the needs of the Que, your Region, and the time of day. Ultimately... "the Spice must flow" and thus they have to keep the matches going or the game dies. Thus, you are matched more often by the "first in first out method" and nothing else. It has been that way for well over a month, almost two now.

Even if/when they get the new MMR system running, what makes you think it is going to work that hard on matching your teammates with you by skills? The primary function will be to match the OVERALL rating of the Survivors combined against the Killer's rating. That is the paradox of the 4v1; it will not be matching you with individuals of your own Skill. It is going to match you in a batch, and then that batch is going to be roughly lined up with a Killer they think will make a decent challenge.

You are going to have to be both pragmatic and realistic. Control the things you can control, i.e. yourself and those teammates you can communicate with directly. This is the game. It isn't going to change much. You either rise to the challenges it presents or you move on to a game that better meets your needs. When you play Survivor you are going to have bad teammates from time to time (it may even seem that way all the time). Even when you get good teammates, there is still going to be at least one weakest link. The winner of a match is the side that makes the fewest mistakes, and there being more Survivors, there are more potential mistakes.

In regards to your notion of a training mode, what I am guessing you mean by a more in depth tutorial, it isn't viable. Why? This game has too many variables. Every Killer has his/her own style, tactics, and strategies. There is the random elements of the spawn, builds, and add-on(s)/offerings. There is (as already discussed) the unpredictable nature of your teammates. A training mode only works, for matching purposes, if there is minimum standard of behavior and expectation of behaviors. Those do not exist in Dead by Daylight. The best a tutorial can manage is something covering the mechanical aspects of the game. Bad teammates are not failing the mechanical aspects; they are simply failing in adaptation and strategy. There is no fix for that other than them simply getting better over time.

Lol 5k hours, since 2017 new. I do not have time to read that novel lol. Something just accept useless matchmaking and ranking something something. There's nothing challenging about being forced to play with newbies. I'm not here to carry and die for useless team mates. If that hurts your feelings, well that's on you.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/229254/ive-had-enough-this-needs-to-be-said

How exactly is you having BAD teammates the DEV's fault? Do you think they can magically match you with only Superstars? :) Your other gripes have nothing to do with your MAIN complaint, i.e. your teammates suck. That is on you and them to correct.

If that is true why do we have a pipping system at all? Indeed a game like this SHOULD match you with team mates that match your skill. Not by magic, but by using your professional developer brain. How about a ranking system where you unlock ranks by completing little training mode tasks like how to loop and mind game your opponent?

It absolutley is the devs fault when I have bad team mates bc their ranking system totally fails at it's job. Hire creative and innovative people to fix their ridiculous disparity of player's skill in every match.

Actually you're talking like you're getting red ranks survivors, you're lucky to have that...

All the day, I had rank 1-4 killers with mates 12-20... How am I supposed to win ? Like I had a stupid game, where there was a Meg that didn't know how to move properly, and didn't know she has to unhook and do gen..... Adding to that a Urban Evasion Claudette that went in a corner of the map using SelfCare while suffering Sloppy Butcher, imagine seeing all of that, hooked, and seeing the third surv to be chased, the most anxiety inducing thing to ever exists...

    (I was rank 4. Now I'm rank 6. Road to rank 20...)

We were getting r20 killers and r20 survs last night....Luckily we were a 3man. Matchmaking is completely broken rn I believe.

If you don’t want to play with casual players there are already solutions tailor made for you. Choosing the quick match/solo queue option is there for people that just want to play a quick game. I happen to like the randomness of rounds because I never know what I’m going to get. Playing with potatoes is equally as boring as playing with professional level players every match, imho.

That's fine we just disagree on the need for the solution, not my solution in and of itself.

And no there aren't always a solution tailored to me, not by far. I shouldn't have to have a daily group of swf to depend on playing with me to get quality team mates under my hours.

Idk why you're trying to convince me to like playing with worse/casual survivors. Solo survivor is not, "casual quickplay." If that were true you wouldnt be pipping and ranking up. The whole point is the ranking system doesnt rank up accurately and thus useless.

My solution shouldnt impact players like you who don't care how good their team mates are. But it would impact players like me positively. What is the downside for you?

  • @CountVampyr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1960188#Comment_1960188

Lol. When you say I sound defensive, to me it sounds like you’re projecting. You made a post, I respond that I disagree with your central premise, and then you immediately retort that I’m being unreasonable and defensive. It’s preposterous. I routinely make it to red ranks and rarely have problems holding my own. Saying that I need to stay above rank 13 because I disagree with you is just stupid. Believe it or not, it’s possible to become good at this game while still not taking it totally seriously and becoming an aggressively competitive try-hard.

"Just because a person can pass a test that meets your approval doesn’t mean that they will then play how you want them to play."

That sounds pretty defensive to me. But go off.

Telling me you make it to red ranks only says one thing, you play consistently. Ranks and pips are meaningless and no, pipping is not difficult. I didnt say you should stay at r13 because you disagree, but because you think some players take the game too seriously. My point was players like you under my idea can stay with more casual players rather than going into red rank with the attitude of, "I dont want to play sweaty so dont get mad that I wasnt trying as hard as you."

And if you dont have an issue with the average red rank survivor I'm going to assume either you aren't that good, (which is fine I'm not saying it as a personal attack.) Or you simply are okay with casual players. Which again, is fine but not everyone likes to play with casual survivors.

  • @Northener1907 said:

I agree that post. And i wanna add that:

Please add penalty time for suiciding on hooks. I swear i hate them. They making game worse. And they are so much. That is one of the big problems

In the games current state, I am very thankful I can leave a match if my team mates aren't worth my time. If they fix the disparity between survivor's skill being matched together, I see not too many reasons to allow suicides other than bugs and lag.

  • @CountVampyr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1960076#Comment_1960076

The only way players will improve is through experience and playing with others that are better than you. Just because a person can pass a test that meets your approval doesn’t mean that they will then play how you want them to play. Like it or not, pipping is the test and those that are terrible already find it difficult to advance in rank.

In my own post I said even players with 100s to 1000s of hours can barely loop. Clearly, experience alone is not working.

If you are having trouble getting pips that is 100 percent on you.

You sound defensive. Why you oppose helping players get better while having the option to stay in the more casual ranks is beyond me.

  • @CountVampyr said:

I still don’t see the problem a lot of you guys have. Do I get rounds where I lost due to my teammates being potatoes? Sure. Is it every round? Definitely not. Most of the time when we lose it is because the killer is simply better than us. Playing solo is a grab bag, and will always be a grab bag. There is no fix to this. Really the only solution there is to your problem is to simply stop taking the game so damned seriously. Your complaint has nothing to do with bugs or anything the devs can do to rectify the situation. The only person that can fix you is you.

How would I fix this? I don't believe you. I have 5k hours and play this game daily. Most players are bad. Period. Most games are won because the killer does poorly. I believe I have real, practical solutions and you have yet to explain why my solutions wouldn't help raise the quantity of quality team mates and be healthy overall for the game.

Honestly if you care so little that my ideas seem "too serious." For you, just stay at r13 with other survivors who don't care to improve. Casual and competitive players should be separated.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

No thanks on additional base kit features. I enjoy solo with as little boosting as possible.

The training mode is a great idea.

You are going to have to if you want swf and solo to truly be the same balance wise.

That's why I mentioned the option to turn it off because like you, I like playing without and I know its 100 percent possible, (if your team mates are good.) But most aren't.

I would also be up for the idea that at r8 or r5 this base kit could come off as well thus forcing you to use kindred if you want more communication among team mates. The idea is to teach new players map knowledge and killer predictability.

  • @CriticalWeasel said:

    Have Kindred Built-in.

Kindred now just reveals the killer (Albeit with increased range to compensate.)

It's an amazing perk! I like to call it reverse BBQ bc I can almost always tell where a killer will go. To me? To the gen being worked on closest to the hook he just slapped someone on? Learning your opponent is so important in this game!

A lot of time is wasted too on multiple people going for the save instead of rushing their objective.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

I highly doubt the devs will change solo and swf separately

best we can hope for is good match matching.

Also imo as long as you pipped you did well and it's kinda easy to do so as survivor if you know what your doing.

Idk what it is with people who only care about pipping especially in a pipping system that is almost totally useless.

  • @Shaped said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1959930#Comment_1959930

You will never control how others play the game. And always blaming others for losing will not help you in any way.

Sorry but I disagree with your point. I can't control how my team plays, but the game can teach players to play better and have more fun overall as a team. Most selfish players are probably selfish bc they have no idea what they are doing or bc they have no faith and trust in their team mates. And why would you. Most survivors are bad.

I absolutely can blame my team mates for losing. This is not a 1v4 game as in 1 surv vs 3 survivors and 1 killer. This game is about teamwork and it is far more fun when you learn how to play well together to defeat 1 common enemy. This game needs to do better to help other players learn how to play.

  • @Shaped said:

You can still pip most of the time anyway, both roles. Don't focus too much on escaping or what others should or shouldn't be doing.

I do not play for, "pips." What is the point of playing to simply rank up? Especially when rank means nothing but, "I play a lot but I'm still probably bad at the game."

I dont play dbd to pip ...with 0 skill mind you. I play to win, outplay the killer and experience fun team work interaction.

  • @Shroompy said:

Well said, honestly theres 2 things this game needs, a better training like you mentioned and more info given to survivors as solo. They can do either VC for this or a ping system to better indicate whats happening

I really hope they can achieve this without VC bc I do think it takes you out of the horror environment and part of the fun is not knowing totally everything.

When a team mate knows what you are communicating to them without VC we call them, "knowers" bc they have gameplay and map awareness even without VC.

Also this game is so frustrating, VC could get toxic really fast. Imagine a new player being bad, just tell everyone to body block them! VC WILL be abused. The bigger issue I see is most survivors dont NEED bond and kindred to know most of what's going on but they have to learn first with game information perks. The fact most new survivors don't even take advantage of perks like kindred show how little survivors know what is truly useful for them and what is not cough SC cough, it is game/map information.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

You do realise people are complaining about dead hard because it's unfair right?

Sorry you think that "E to undo mistake" is fine for the game.

Other exhaustion perks while annoying do not come even close to how unfair and frustrating dead hard is to verse.

As long as Spirit and Nurse exist, yeah, I think it's pretty fair.

  • You mean like nurse and spirit? Lol nerf those first.

  • I doubt good clown players care much for the buff. I assume bad clowns are still bad and good clowns still do about the same.

I think against a strong swf, (lots of swfs are as bad as randos) clown is on the weaker side for sure. Against randos? No. And even as a good swf I have played against clowns who know tiles very well and know how and when to throw bottles to shut down loops and dead zones very quickly. In the right hands he can be a lot stronger and more viable than most killer mains would like to admit. Just my opinion.

  • Let me tell you I would have never thought they'd ruin the game this bad. Changing survivor locomotion for reasons I cannot possibly understand and then LYING about it. I understand the unique balance challenges these devs face but ruining surv movement and the UI is just plain incompetence.

Out of all the issues in dbd they chose to waste time building a worse UI, worse animations and nerfing actual surv locomotion. Which ofc came with lots of bonus breaking bugs.

And I'm sorry but "buffing" Clown was a waste of time too until they nerf unbeatable killers like Spirit and Freddy. I would barely even call it a buff. Until all killers share a similar tier, you will always see bad players using top tier killers with low skill ceilings destroying randos.

This patch was a complete waste of time and the game as a whole is left in the worst state I've ever seen since pallet towns were a thing. Oh and the rift is overpriced boring as per usual.

  • @hardtimefun said:

Waah oh poor you, if you get mad you can play free to win spirit! Play with "low tier" team mates and then tell me how sad "tbags" make you.

  • I love swamp. Balanced map for the most part. I know the totem spawns. I look forward to graphical updates.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1953970#Comment_1953970

Sadly, this is probably true. One of the reasons I'm a STRONG advocate for splitting Solo and Team into different Ques is the 3-Person SWF is the worst. They often (well most of the time in fact) treat the Solo saddled with them as a "Red Shirt" in the classic Star Trek meaning of the term. You were a useful asset to them, nothing more. And yes, as you are not really "one of them" you are considered an acceptable sacrifice. It is just one more way in which SWF is problematic when not it its own Que.

Honestly as someone who swfs a lot, most of us do tend to have no faith in the rando. Most solo players are totally incompetent. Most good survivors have friends bc they like winning and not just running around clueless with other clueless players.

And yes, if we are carrying you the entire game and we let you die to escape, that's kinda how it should go isn't it? If you play genuinely well and you take hits for the team, I will go out for you. If you play like a potato, especially a selfish potato, we'll consider you disposable if not a target if you try to be real selfish.

Why the devs continue to throw noobs at us players with 1000s of hours is beyond me. Playing with babies is frustrating and most swfs dont want to deal with it.

  • Lol dont you think riot is a pretty big exaggeration? Backlash (done civilly) pressures them to fix things. These devs need it more than anything. Without the backlash survs would still be incredibly overpowered and well, we'd have to get used to this patch.

If you make a lot of poor choices, expect backlash and criticism. Unfortunately, these devs make a lot of bad choices. If they wanna be greedy and waste time making over priced cosmetic designs instead of fixing things like matchmaking and ranking, they can suffer the consequences.

Idc if separate teams focus in different areas, they both arent doing very good jobs and clearly need to spend more money on higher quality professionals.

    Happy?!

Are you a surv main and can you run killers?

  • Lol I will say some of the sweatiest killer mains are Pig mains. They tend to run tiles better bc they have to. I will also say trap tunneling can be the most infuriating thing in the game. Just keep ranking up, most killers drop pig for easier killers at high rank.

  • So two perks, one of them being useless against most killers, and the other useless against strider, should be necessary to counter Spirit? Uuuh lol.

  • Hexy is not only a good killer but a noob stomper. 99.9 percent of survivors are noobs in ALL ranks. If you are good at killer, you should be winning most games. The game is only survivor sided when you're playing with the top 1% of the playerbase.

People didnt ask for that change, you are right. But they kept asking for things that might make this change nessessary. A LOT of people want to buff solo survivors to swf level informationwise. So the hud needed to change. Maybe not in the way they choose, but you cant display additional information by leaving everything like it was.

It is just that people dont know what it takes to deliver the things they demand. More information, but dont change the ui? show me how its done.

What does UI have to do with solo survs needing a buff? Survs need information perks built into their kit and then nerfed accordingly. The only thing the UI needed imo was a totem counter. I also think survs should be able to see everyone's build in the lobby but that's probably a debate for another thread. My point is though that's another thing that has nothing to do with the UI.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

look, I get it, New UI isn't great and is scattershot as hell, the new animations are stiff and if I can go one game without some sort of random hitbox tomfoolery whether it be killers with extendo-arms or weapons phasing through survivors I would buy a lottery ticket, but all I've seen on the forums is 2 groups of people angrily yelling at each other like they're planning to go to war.

Just.. take a deep breath and calm down, make a cup of coffee, put on some low-fi jazz, and argue with actual discussion instead on yelling like a group of drunken frat boys arguing over which girl is prettier

I think people are behaving appropriately over the situation. I'm drinking my coffee calmly as I read what everyone is still saying about the update, hoping the devs will fix it or at least respond. :)

Look. I understand complaining about things because they're game breaking. Yes hit boxes are busted. I literally just played a game against a Nurse and she hit me several feet away. This needs to be fixed. However, the movement hasn't changed. The devs stated that movement speed is the same as it was pre-patch. Unless there's physical evidence that actually makes a sizable difference it's fine. I don't get what's wrong with the UI. I resized it to what fits me and 3 games in I'm used to it. I don't play 3 inches from my monitor so just looking at the screen I can see everything I need to.

It is not just movement speed, surv movement has absolutely been nerfed and there are other posts that explain it better than I could. There's a reason you cannot spin a killer anymore. Movement is far more stiff and it feels clunky. I can excuse things like broken hit boxes but when you start intentionally making the game awful via UI and surv movement... Why are they fixing things that arent broken or EVER complained about? This update is disgusting and deserves all the outrage it's getting.

  • Thank goodness there are people like you who can say it better then I ever could.

The new survivor movement is absolutely awful. If they wanna make clunkier surv gameplay please just make dbd 2 and leave this one alone. If I wanted to play a clunkier version of dbd I'd be on F13 rn. Ugh. After 5k hrs I never thought THIS is what would actually make me stop wanting to play lol.

  • @Grimm120 said:

Imagine being so petty as to try and demand things from the devs. It's. A. UI. It does not take up half the screen, it does not need to be reverted and it sure as hell is not bad. If this is what the UI was when the game launched and they changed it to what is was previous to this one everyone would still lose their minds. UI too big? Make it smaller. It's not rocket science.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1931508#Comment_1931508

If as UI change makes you quit then the Devs probably don't want you playing their game anyways.

It's not just the UI, they've totally changed survivor movement, (far worse than the UI though I do hate that too). And they broke hit boxes. The worst update for survivors I've ever seen. These changes are game breaking.

  • Only 7 upvotes :( I dont know a single friend happy with these changes. I too have been around since 2017 and have more hours than I'd like to admit. The new movement is terrible. It feels clunky and much slower. The gameplay has a totally different feel to it as survivor. This might actually kill the game for me. Why would they do this? Who asked for this?

You said it better than me, I just want the devs to know this change is disgusting. I dont want the gameplay to feel like f13. I want it to feel smooth and swift like it used to be. I dont understand this change at all and it really is telling how little these devs understand their game at all.

I'm aware of that, but when I can 3k or 4k with 3 pallets being dropped all game, that's just funky.

I'm super greedy with pallets. Especially when playing solo bc I figure I better leave it for the weaker players. I tend to be too greedy, but tbh I think weak players get hit through their pallets anyways bc they often camp pallets anyways. I feel screwed either way lol.

  • No. Give me good team mates that dont drop like flies or lack total map awareness. Fix match making and ranking. Until then, why are you yelling at players for leaving a garbage match?

Fix the game. And it ain't any survivors fault.

This is a statement I've heard far too much and it irks me the more and more I see it.

Make no mistake, I'm not arguing that a killer that is completely opaque in everything they do and can stand still for a few seconds to get free hits is somehow fair/balanced. I will however argue that those that say "Spirit doesn't take skill" are very, very, VERY wrong.

"But all you need is a good headset!"

Yes, having a headset helps massively. She is a killer that relies on audio, whereas other killers like Nurse rely on visuals and LoS.

Saying Spirit only needs good headsets is like saying Nurse doesn't take skill because she only needs a good pair of eyes.

There's a lot more to it.

There's identifying the survivors' pathing — are they running INTO you, towards a pallet, slow/double-vaulting a window, etc. You need to be able to understand where the survivor is going, especially if you're phasing at a distance before you can even hear anything.

Measuring the distance between you and the survivor - You rely on your ears and with how sounds are in this game, that's a lot harder than it sounds. Some survivors are louder than Demo after stubbing his toe, and then you have Ace with his built-in Iron Will. You need to understand how far a survivor is before you end phasing, which means learning how loud a survivor is when you're X amount of distance. Complicating matters are things like Stridor that makes survivors louder, Iron Will that silences/muffles grunts of pain—it's going to take a bit of practice.

Managing your gauge - Any Spirit main knows how bad of an idea it is to use the entity of your power gauge unless you need the speed to reach somewhere like to Pop a gen or something. Considering the gauge depletes by 5 seconds default, that's pretty difficult. It requires you to learn when you should be using your power and when best to conserve it. Or hell, when best to wait for it to recharge before phasing somewhere to catch a survivor off guard.

I'm sure a good Spirit main will be able to list a lot more ways Spirit requires a lot of practice (I don't often play her; I'm just an edgy Legion main). I will reiterate; I'm not arguing if Spirit is balanced or not, or that her add-ons aren't more busted than a poor door after it jammed on Oni—I'm saying, playing her isn't playing "easy mode" where you just need a headset/Stridor and you instantly win (though it would be equally asinine to say those don't help).

Is she as hard as Nurse? No. Nowhere close. Is she as easy as Freddy with a good headset? Maybe against rank 20s, but against good survivors, no. Winning against good survivors means being good with Spirit; not just that you have a good headset.

It's called an exaggeration. Yes it takes a little bit of skill. But not much and when you do learn you're ridiculously overpowered especially against solos.
