So what makes Trickster special?
By this, I mean what is supposed to separate him from Deathslinger or Huntress, both being 110% ranged killers like Trickster.
What does he have going for him? If a survivor vaults a window, Trickster might be able to get about 4 knives in. Cool. Huntress could throw a hatchet and deal 1 health state of damage. React too slow? Play Slinger who doesn't have a windup. Worst case? You have them injured and in DW. Best case? You get a down.
You're at a small loop? Cool, Trickster can pepper them in knives! So can Huntress with her hatchets and actually down them. Meanwhile, Slinger can shoot them and drag them over for a hit. Both being more effective and costing much less time for the killer.
I'm struggling to think of any advantage he has over those two. Trick knives? Those are an add-on—and a purple one at that. There's just nothing to him.
What is his advantage? Slinger's advantage over Huntress is his stealth and lack of a windup. Huntress has a high snowball potential and can hit you across the map. Trickster... has abs, I guess?
Comments
Right now, he's lacking any reason to exist besides beiing easier to pick up by newer players and kind of fun with all the knife throwing.
Hopefully devs will buff him enough so that he does something better than other ranged killers. Like, making the main event actually not detrimental to use.
His advantage is probably supposed to be his ability to juggle players and spread damage. Which he could, in theory, do, if he didn't have such a quick decay rate on laceration and such terrible recoil/innaccuracy.
Nothing. He does nothing better than any killer.
He only does one thing better than Deathslinger and Huntress- he's f a b u l o u s.
Other than that just get his perks and leave him alone till the devs change him in a few months/years.
There's nothing that sets him apart from the rest of the cast. Everything he does is just done better by Huntress, Plague or Deathslinger if we're talking about power.
He's fun, but the factor of fun will very quickly wear off when you get 2-3 hooks per game and a 1k at best.
This is true. I noticed this potential in the ptb but as you say too many drawbacks to be useful right now.
He's designed to lure Korean pop fans into dbd. A lot of em on twitter find him hot lol. He wasn't meant to be viable, just to represent a different minority group.
Roll on Alien or Mary Poppins in chapter 20
Because a shower of social media obsessives got all hot under the collar over a 'pretty' killer. They enjoyed this for numerous reasons, including the belief that it irritated fans of 'traditional horror'. They also enjoyed the opportunity to dress up like the killer and do kissy wink face selfies. But amusingly, I hear the new killer is 100% pure cack prime. Which is absolutely hilarious.
His special characteristic is, despite what the game says, during matches, you actually move SLOWER than the Nurse
I feel there are opportunities that he can excel in over other Killers, but he needs buffs to be more viable.
He can freely stack laceration around loops. Huntress can throw a hatchet for 1 health state but requires more skill to land the higher the MMR. Same for Deathslinger.
He can also apply laceration during chases if the Survivor is a distance away. Force them to evade the blades and slow down for M1 or take the laceration damage.
He's special in that his ultimate ability makes him slower than survivors.
Trickster DOES have a unique advantage that no other killer has: When lacerate builds to max and inflicts a damage state, the survivor does not get a speed burst, like they do whenever they take damage from anything else (other than stepping in a beartrap for obvious reasons).
In THEORY, this lets him stay on you longer, which I assume was the justification for the slower move speed and the very high number of hits needed to inflict a damage state, and possibly even for the laceration decay. The problem is that he has ALL of those negative debuffs, on top of low accuracy, high recoil, move slowdown, and limited ammo.
It's a case of coming up with an idea ("what if he could hurt you without letting you sprint to safety?") and then pouring layers of conditions and hinderances on top of one another to justify the small boost. It should really come as no surprise, this is also how killer perks are designed these days. Compare old perks (50% less stun duration) to newer ones (After hitting a survivor TWICE with BASIC attacks, for 30 seconds, any time a survivor makes a GOOD but not GREAT skill check on a generator, it will light up in yellow, but only until they stop holding M1)
Incorrect. Survivors DO get a speed boost.
They do get the speed burst. Only plague denies them the speed burst.
HE's special because no one can lose as hard as he can.
he should move at normal speed I don't see why he mvoes so slow when his knives are so weak
Oh yeah,he's a "Entity Displeased" machine.
Why play AFK Wraith if you could just play Trickster 😎
Does he generate BP easily? If so I might play him just for that whilst also (unintentionally) depipping since I only play killer for the challenges and am creeping into red ranks (which is... not preferable or very enjoyable).
Well, he's 4.4m/s, moves at 3.68m/s during main event, it takes 8 projectiles to injure a survivor, those projectiles go all over the place unlike all the other ranged attacks in the game, he makes more noise than Plague, all that while looking like a character from Jump Force video game
He similar to the Plague but she is better in every aspects.
