Was playing Killer last night and had no problems.
-
Just as an update, so I was running Hex: Ruin some more last night, and I even ran into it as a survivor. Hex: Ruin is really fun to use and play against. I recommend it.

If a survivor is on a gen for 15 seconds at the start of the game and you chase them off it is going to take 15 * 4 = 60 seconds to regress that time. In addition to the awful, awful time it takes to degrade at base rate it has anti-synergy with every kicking perk in the game. No overcharge, No call of brine, No pop. I think that's ok though, I absolutely hate hex perks and ruin was a clear outlier of regression value at 200%, but I disagree that it still has value. I would take almost any other perk over it if I had the choice.
Right, yea I'm not saying it's the best regression perk in the game, but it IS a regression perk. So if you wanna do some totem build, and you need a regression perk in there, what I'm saying is Ruin can be your regression perk, and will also synergize with trap perks because you will encourage the Survivors to go hunting it. It's like, a middling perk that does a little bit of a couple of things, instead of doing one thing great.

I love chase builds. It makes you feel like an unstoppable force, but it was nearly impossible to run prior to the update since all generators could be completed within minutes. Since the update went live it has gotten a bit better, but slowdown and regression perks are still necessary for Killers to be somewhat efficient.
I was playing Freddy the other night, and despite shredding through pallets with BS and STBFL coming in clutch , I still couldn't secure more than one kill. I don't like kicking gens, and I feel as though the regression from the kick just isn't rewarding enough (maybe 5% instead of 2.5%?). I don't like having to equip multiple slow down and regression perks like I had to before, but so long as perks like prove thyself and items like tool boxes are used to speed up the process, then those 10 extra seconds don't really add up to much.
This might have been a killer sided patch, but at the end of the day Killers will still need to sweat for the win without using the best regression/slowdown perks to be effective. Granted this is just one person's opinion, but this has been my experience thus far.
I was running Ruin as my slowdown perk on Deathslinger yesterday, and ended up in a kicking match against 2 survivors who were repairing gens right next to each other. I'd walk from one Gen, back to the other chasing them off and kicking. Was pretty funny, knowing that I was probably actually regressing the Gen faster than they were repairing it.

@Zeidoktor said:
It also retains synergy with perks like Surveillance, which you can take advantage of.
Unrelated but I've been having the idea to see if I can get Ruin to deactivate through a Pig's head pop vs a Sacrifice.
I wonder if Sadako's mori would stop it also.
Of course, you get Sadako's mori off without hooking someone, you won't need the slowdown anymore.
-
Yea I don't disagree that Hex: Plaything has great synergy with other Hex perks, but that's also a different kind of playstyle and reason for existing. I dont really believe Hex: Ruin is as bad as everyone laments, IMO even if you manage to get only 2 minutes of slowdown from it, you got Corrupt Intervention value out of it.
-
I bet Second Wind would match well with OTR. Maybe throw in an Empathetic Connection to help secure the activation.
-
After reading these comments I've realized I under utilize the hills. Thanks for the tip.
-
I also am mainly soloq and Killer, and I have been playing almost exclusively soloq survivor since patch and I'm loving it.

I want chase interaction and not play hide and seek. I like when survivors are good at looping and actually bold enough to show themselves and not hide like little chickens.
yes, aura perks exist but idc. If you hide all game you get tunneled, camped and slugged. Thats how I will punish boring gameplay.
Dont get me wrong, I dont mind when a survivor is using stealth as a tool here and there like idk QnQ with Lithe, mid chase etc. Thats all cool, Im not getting mad about it.
But if survivors are hyper stealthing, touching gens and then vanishing for minutes the entire game forcing me to check every little corner and locker thats when I get really pissed and annoyed and I will 100% will make the time with me in that match as horrible and boring as I can once I spotted you.
That's cool. Hope you can find me.
-
I recommend starting with a general build, and then swapping stuff out from there. Off the Record for tunneling and a second chance, Prove Thy Self for gens, Unbreakable for slugging, and a "chase" perk which could be any endurance perk but I also consider Lightweight, Lucky Break, Dead Hard or anything that is gonna turn the table during a chase.
-
Yea I was actually gonna make a discussion to comment on this but didn't want to typical nonsense replies. Yea, Dead Hard is good, it's position has just changed. IMO, it's best for out in the open, when You have literally no options that it really shines, because the killer is def gonna go for the lunge, because now they CAN and so you are gonna get the value out of it. The reduction to half a second might even be a buff, that makes you wait until the last second to activate. It makes it so the killer really need to commit to the strike.
-
I got what they promised me
-
I see your point and I reply with, what are you complaining about? The killer killed you? Sucks. Should have done a better job. I don't have sympathy for you just because you lost a match. That's the point. The point was you were going to die in here with the killer, can you stop that? I guess the answer is no. Move on to the next match. The point is, can you do it? Who are your team mates? Can they will it?
The answer is, yes. If they start to think correctly. Stop getting caught, #1. I can tell you that you probably forgot that the killer was supposed to kill you. Maybe, don't let him kill you. Don't get caught. Sometimes you will, and that sucks. But, maybe someone dying the first hook is their problem, and not yours.
-
When you get off the hook with OTR, it gives you 0 grunts, that what you are here for. The inability to be caught by BBQ, Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage, and all the other aura detecting abilties is just a bonus. To GTFO of there, and be able to hide nearby and not be detected is priority #1 to OTR. The Endurance buff only comes into play if you didn't do a good enough job hiding from the killer and now you are in a chase, now guess what, you might as well be a healthy survivor as far as this chase is concerned, so play like one. You now have essentially an additional health state during this chase, abuse it.
-
OTR is NOT an endurance perk. It is a perk that gives you a second chance once unhooked, you are NOT supposed to run into the killer and use your endurance, you are supposed to use your endurance to basically tank another hit, ALA a health survivor in case the killer decides to tunnel you. OTR is NOT to tank a hit.
-
Actually, I stand corrected, there is 1 killer who can completely decimate stealth, and that's legion.
Legion ######### up stealth is why you are seeing such successful legion games. Remove the ability to track all survivor's at all times, and Legion ain't #########.
Which mean's make sure you win't immediately healing. That dude relies on seeing you NOT with deep wounds.
-
@Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:
"Don't get found" has never been a good strategy against killers that are paying attention.
Good killers tend to pay attention.
To what?
Take their aura reading (OTR, Distortion), they got an aura from across the map with BBQ? Let them come. They didn't see #########.
They decided to slug? Unbreakable, Tenacity to get away (Which BTW, super effective near a repaired gen, Tenacity and GTFO of there and to safety and you won't regret it)
They were listening closely? OTR and Iron Will can negate that.
There isn't ######### any killer, period, can do against stealth.
-
@PBsamichShoe said:
I predicted that stealth gen rushing would become the new meta since the patch discourages any interaction between killer and survivor.
Sounds like a snoozefest imo id rather play Fortnite
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.

@Adjatha said:
Glad you're enjoying it, but who's getting 4ks with 0 gens finished? Killers going up against brand-new players?
This game started off as "Hide and Seek" and turned into "Tag" as survivors got more and more buffs and perks that let them evade killers for potentially the entire game. While I can just straight up tell you "you will always go down in a chase" it just flat-out not true, I'm glad that some of the Hide And Go Seek is coming back.
Even if it means these forums get flooded by people making fake accounts to spam "survivor is dead!" posts instead of literally trying any kind of different build.
Man at first I really wanted to argue with you but then after reanalignzing what you said, I realize we are actually on the same team.
So here's the thing, make killer as strong as you ######### want, the result is going to be people hiding in stealth. The survivors will create a meta to counter whatever it is that is happening at the moment, looking at whatever wins they can (1, 2 gens a game) and eventually they will figure out how to get to 5, and to correct to this issue, killers will begin to create builds to counter it, and bada bing bada, you've got yourself a meta that relies upon the idea that the survivor usually doesn't win, unless they are doing a really good job at not getting downed and working on the gen.
-
@BenSanderson55 said:
The best perk to use rn soloq IMO: Kindred, bond, prove thyself, exhaustion perk
Genrush builds also option
As far as lightweight it seems to work best with sprintburst, fixated and vigil
Lightweight, Lithe, Dance With me is a REALLY awesome combo too. I straight up dusted a couple of killers last night with that load out. Pop through the window and you are ######### GONE.
-
Maybe add a 25% per killed survivor as well, to punish the killer and not weaken the perk during end game.
-
@Gylfie said:
Is Lightweight actually noticeable now? I've used it a bit as survivor but I have no idea if it messes with the killer at all.
I tried to make a little diagram to show lightweights effectiveness.
According to a Google search, the scratch marks last for 10 seconds. With 5 seconds removed, it's about half what it is generally. With the spreading of the scratch marks, theoretically if you ran into a fork in the road and stopped running, you could have scratch marks going either direction, so it might even wrap around a 90° a little bit.
-
@ElleGreen said:
I have gotten use out of it once all the other times I needed it was In EGC
Yea so you can't know when it has hidden your aura, and it isn't just to tank a hit, as running off with 0 grunts is great when you're stealthing the killer.
I also love the interaction it has with after the gates are powered, it buffs Borrowed Time, Iron Will, and Distortion because those 3 are not deactivated. It's a beautiful thing.

Imo, Ruin was already on its way out the door for the most part, even before it got completely destroyed. There were (and still are, especially now) far better alternatives that don’t involve relying on hex perks.
I would still say that it’s overall good that it finally got nerfed, especially with 90 second gens, but it is admittedly pretty terrible now.
Actually, I think Hex: Ruin might be a good switch out for Corrupt Intervention now. You can down early without it dropping, if you have a travel power, like Sadako or Dredge and can keep pressure high on gens, they WILL have to leave the Gen, getting regression or spend time hunting down the totem, and if you can get 2 whole minutes of someone hunting a totem I stead of doing gens, then you may as well have gotten the same value as Corrupt Intervention.
-
I've gotten a few of her Moris off, it isnt as impossible as people make it out to be. The Condemned status is mostly a punishment for survivors who dick around with her TVs. It also is a lot stronger than people give it credit for. It's literally an insta-kill, remove from game. It isn't PH's last hook/kill, it's an insta kill regardless of hook status. You can mori someone who has never even been hooked.
-
They could do a pass on the TV placements, to make them better at pressuring gens and for chase.
-
I play Artist, PinHead and Sadako a lot, but never see Sadako. Last night I got a Sadako match, and it was obviously a baby Sadako and I wanted to just see the projection animation before I left, but they downed me and forced me out.
Then next match was another Sadako but this one had the full bloodied outfit and absolutely decimated us. So yea, ran into 2 last night.

@Chordyceps said:
1. Ghostface. Only stealth killer that can attack immediately out of undetectable. Instadown capabilities that are easier to activate than Myers.
2. Sadako. Her teleport gives her an insane amount of map pressure. A small amount of game delay can go a long way too, especially when said delay has imstakill attached to it.
3. Wraith. His speed boost while cloaked gives him a lot of map traversal power. The speed boost when coming out of stealth has decent chase potential.
4. Pig. The fact that her stealth ability slows her down makes it difficult to get good use out of. Her charge attack has some potential in chase, but if a survivor realizes what youre doing right away and just goes to a different loop, not much you can do. Her slowdown potential is very volatile and it can be difficult to get that first trap on.
5. Myers. Weakest stealth ability by a large margin. Only stealth killer on this list that doesn't get to become undetectable whenever they want. Also only killer in the game with a hard cap on how many times he can use his power. Also not a huge fan of power burst killers. It takes a lot of time to activate his power, and then when I do, I usually only get one instadown out of it, maybe 2 if Im lucky. My personal pick for not only the worst stealth killer, but the worst killer in the game.
Bro you can't claim Mikey is the worst killer while Freddy is in the game.
-
I'm sure it's got it's place. I'll try running it tonight to see if I can get any utility out of it.
-
If it's very likely someone is definitely going to get me off the hook during phase 1, but they are a bit away, it's totally worth it to take 1 chance, and only 1 chance. If I can get myself off without you having to run over here, that's all the better. It's more efficient.
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
Nope, and the more I think about the new endurance changes, the more I think that Deathslinger, Legion, and Original Pain may get their deep wounds removed.
Dude you are living in a fantasy world if you think Legion is getting their deep wounds removed.

I'm sorry to tell you that my experience is extremely different.
As a PC player, I play with cross-play on because 1) I don't care, I'll play with console players LETS ######### GO BOYS!
but also 2) I need the larger player base to get faster games
but console players are GARBAGE toxic. I never have problems with PC players when playing but console players are almost 100% always in SWF, they always tea bag and clicky clicky at gate, and I can't even communicate with them post-game!
I would LOVE to be able to communicate with console players post-match. I'd turn that option on (wink wink BHVR)

Oh sounds like alot of fun! What do you like to run on her and what's your playstyle exactly?
I run BBQ and Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage. You use BBQ to initiate a chase ASAP after hooking a survivor and if it was a scourge hook, then they will be revealed again once they are unhooked, you want this reveal to come during the chase. ALWAYS be demanifested, manifest only when you are about to land a hit. After the hit, don't chase by conventional means. Instead, demanifest and watch where they run to and basically, begin haunting them. Don't get to close, let them just barely hear your lullaby and use your phasing to step between LoS blockers when invisible. Never let them see you as you approach. This is why the reveal after the unhook is so important, you want to try and cut them off and have them literally run into you.
The other two perks I use are Call of Brine and Merciless Storm which are used just as slow down, so you could change them if you'd like
If you can, try and use the TVs to cut survivors off, or you can use them during chase to apply Condemn. If you see a Survivor running toward a TV after a hook or unhook, Project to it. For all you know they are about to turn in a tape and having you arrive and apply the last bit of Condemn can secure you an instant kill.
-
A hex perk that supposed to go with a certain killer from a certain IP that involves animatronics
CCTV
Spawn 2 additional totems at the beginning of the match. All totems are hexed. All totems will be assigned a 45 degree cone that extends 12 meters visible to survivors. Any survivors within the cone will have their auras revealed.

Prestige 1 gives all tier 1, p2 is tier 2, and p3 is tier 3

She has two cues, the projection one and one when she manifests, both of them are directional and pretty loud, the second cue is the reason why demanifestation and manifestation mindgames do not work against good players, since you can pinpoint where she is manifesting.
And yes you are correct, most stealth killers are a joke, but that doesn't exclude sadako for being one too.
This is the reason people think Sadako is bad. If you manifest on top of them it doesn't matter which direction it's coming from.

So exactly not a good player? You have to put effort in to get condemned or be as smart as moss for it to happen.
They body blocked when the correct play was to keep rushing and he could even get the condemned removed while in chase, they had every tool to absolutely dunk on you yet they didn't used them, not good players in the slightest.
Okay

This people have to really bad to get killed by a sadako while having dh and a bnp at play, actually throwing or prob players with less than 20 hours, but doubt that option since they got many teachables.
Naw it was a genuine Condemn mori. The guy was the first I found in the match, ran me for 2 gens, then his buddies got cocky and started body blocking and trying to take chase, then I noticed TVs shutting off, waited a bit, projected to one and just as I was coming out, it was the first guy I chased and he starts throbbing with Killer Instinct, still injured. Dropped his ass and mori'd him.
-
I wish they would do the camera lock to Sadako's projections.
-
I can't honestly tell you to not pick PinHead over Sadako because he's really good and has good perks, but Sadako is one of my favorite killers to use. As the dude said above, most people just don't understand how to use her right. She literally doesn't chase, that's her power. You show up out of no where with elegant use of the phasing, land a hit and then immediately demanifest and fall back. The survivors will run and you stalk them until they feel comfortable enough to stop. Then you just repeat step one until they are all dead. The Condemned mechanic isn't the best but I also don't think it SHOULD come into play much, as it allows you to instantly kill without even hooking, it's supposed to be a slow down that makes people get off of gens. I've had quite a few Condemned Moris, and below I'll post a screen shot of a Condemned mori I got on a dude without hooking him once.

Naw dude, with her phasing it's incredibly easy to sneak up on survivors.

I swear to god if it's just "survivors who are fully condemned suffer from the exposed status effect" I am gonna be so mad.
They won't remove the mori. The devs spoke about wanting to make mori's something the killer unlocks during the match instead of bringing offerings, and I believe Condemnation is the first iteration of that (not counting PH). The REALLY cool thing about Condemnation and how powerful it is, is you can literally mori a survivor the first time you down them if they haven't been able to manage the Condemnation. I've gotten a few moris out of it, if you can manage to stop a survivor from turning in a tape AND apply a stack of Condemn on them, they can potentionally become moriable as soon as you arrive. I think maybe allowing the killer to see the levels of condemn could potentially allow the killer to change their objective, knowing that a survivor is close to getting mori-able.
-
I have never prestige a character. All my survivors sit at 40 except Felix who has all the perks and is my main, and I no killers are prestiged but some will gain a few levels of prestige after the update.
-
Here's my tips.
At the beginning, do not jump onto a Gen. IMO it's better to get some information as to what your going up against so you can start making INFORMED decisions. Try to work from the inside out, if you see two gens and one is closer to the center than the other, work on the one closer to the center first. Stay out of sight and creep your way around, if you can find the "Main Building" try to make it to that and work on that Gen first. If you notice the basement, make sure to take a note as to where it is, and try to stay away from it, just in case. It's best to just stay undetected, so try to be aware of what's happening around you as much as you can, try to keep long sight lines.
If the Killer does catch you, try to prolong the chase as much as possible. Remember when you get hit you will receive a speed boost, try to capitalize upon it as much as possible, don't drop a pallet or even vault if you can because it will slow you down. You should think of the "Jungle Gyms" around the map as areas to juke and jive the killer, try to break line of sight. Remember, they ain't hitting you, they ain't won yet. Stay at corners and don't commit to anything until absolutely necessary, wait till you see the whites of their eyes, not the stain.
