Tips for playing Survivor?

I play on switch and usually just play killer (I find it more enjoyable to smack people with my Nemesis or down them with Bubba) but I'm thinking of starting to play survivor a bit more, and I'm pretty bad at survivor, so does anyone have any decent tips?

-Please don't just say git good, because I'm already trying to do that. it's just kinda hard.

Get a swf, solo que is terrible

  • Tip 1: find a team if you are not masochist

  • Should I look on the forum for the people? The Reddit? where?

    • Watch some good survivor mains, so you can learn loops tips. Ayrun, JRM, Sweh, NOOB3 etc, you can find their videos on YT.
    • Kindred, DS, BT, Iron Will etc are good perks for beginner survivors.
    • Do not waste your time with chests, dull totems, self-caring at corners etc. Do gens. This is best way to win as survivor.
    • Split on generators at start. Killer can not be everywhere, so give them huge area to patrol. Working on gens together at start kinda mistake.
    • Do not save your teammates on killer's face. This will give them easy pressure.
    • Follow hook numbers, if someone is dead on hook take hits for them. Even down for them if you are not dead on hook. If one survivor dies, killer will have easy pressure on last 3 survivors.
    • Do not drop pallets early, try for max value from pallet. Because whenever you drop them, they will go. WoO is great perk for beginner survivors (it is good for exp survivors either). Use it, this perk will help you so much at loops.
    • Do not repair generators on same area, go for different areas. So killer will has really big area to patrol for last 3 gens. If last 3 gens are close each other, killer will easy pressure on you guys.
    • And please do not t-bag or bm killer.

If you have any question, i will gladly answer.

I don't T-bag. Hate that. Ruins me worse than the old ruin did.

    Thanks for those suggestions!

  • I had some pretty fun times learning the ropes of survivor by doing Adept challenges, personally. It pushes you to learn the actual core mechanics of survivor without leaning too hard on specific perks, as well as providing the fun extra challenge of "how do I best utilise these three perks", which I enjoyed.

Beyond that, if you're playing solo, equip Kindred and bring something that'll help you heal yourself (so a medkit or a perk that facilitates self-healing, like CoH or Inner Healing). This isn't for every injury, you only need to heal yourself a handful of times when teammates aren't around to do it for you.

The big list above is a good one for more specific tips!

  • Do not waste time - if you are not on a gen, unhooking or in a chase you are 100% useless.

The only time it's acceptable is if you are looking for a hex which once destroyed can give a team huge advantage as killer is now one perk down or when healing

It's always important to be fully healed however if the killer is chasing someone else on the opposite side of the map you better hop on a gen with someone if you are injured and then when popped heal

Never be afraid to trade - the user above me gave you good advice not to unhook in killer's face, however sometimes unfortunately it will be an only option, if you are at 1 or 0 hooks just go and trade, never waste time roaming around the hook, just unhook and try to get to a pallet if no it's okay to go down now the team has more time to smash the gens while your hook timer is going

Never open the gate unless you are fully aware of what's going on. When the gate is open survivors are the ones under pressure, the killer has all time in the world still. For example person who is not on death hook is in a chase with all gens popped and they are on the opposite side of the map from the gates, just 99 the gates and the when they are hooked make sure to have the entire team go in the direction of the gate after unhooking that way even if the killer gets one more hook you are closer to the gate and there is more chance for everyone to escape if coordinated well with bt and body blocking

Sometimes it's better to take a hit than to waste a good pallet, getting hit means getting speed boost and you can go to another loop instead

Do not forget to dead hard only for distance while you still can :)

There’s a section on the forums that helps you find people to play with

Most people see that I play on switch (as I put it there) and are like, "Nope."

  • I think the best advice to give to a solo. Don't be the first one found :P

  • Here's my tips.

At the beginning, do not jump onto a Gen. IMO it's better to get some information as to what your going up against so you can start making INFORMED decisions. Try to work from the inside out, if you see two gens and one is closer to the center than the other, work on the one closer to the center first. Stay out of sight and creep your way around, if you can find the "Main Building" try to make it to that and work on that Gen first. If you notice the basement, make sure to take a note as to where it is, and try to stay away from it, just in case. It's best to just stay undetected, so try to be aware of what's happening around you as much as you can, try to keep long sight lines.

If the Killer does catch you, try to prolong the chase as much as possible. Remember when you get hit you will receive a speed boost, try to capitalize upon it as much as possible, don't drop a pallet or even vault if you can because it will slow you down. You should think of the "Jungle Gyms" around the map as areas to juke and jive the killer, try to break line of sight. Remember, they ain't hitting you, they ain't won yet. Stay at corners and don't commit to anything until absolutely necessary, wait till you see the whites of their eyes, not the stain.
