One thing I'm confused about. If you can't derank back down to the Rank 17-20 bracket, what happens if somebody comes back to DBD let's say on the 10th (three days before reset) and wants to play? Everybody would have ranked up past that bracket and they won't be able to find any matches.

My guess they are assuming that there will be enough of a new player population to keep the game going. I think it will be a good move to make sure the absolute new people are not getting their face smashed in by twinks.

I've read quite a few posts on here about new people coming to the game and getting rolled by supposed rank 20 players with 4 purple perks and rocking a purple flashlight. And that being enough to sour the game for them, and they refund it.

Still doesn’t change SWF for them tho. This change won’t stop rank 1s goin in with lower ranked people. It is gonna be hard to get a game at rank 20-16 now tho esp closer to reset.

I think if rank 1's are grouping with their newbie friends then they are thrown in the deep end. And should have to play in the rank of their friends, its up to them to protect each other. If thats too much then let the new guy learn against other newbs in the lower ranks.

Honestly, as a killer, you need to break away and stop getting pulled into it.

Which is fine until you realize that all 4 players are just as good at the shenanigans. So you break off to find someone else who does the exact same crap. Its the crap that needs fixing.

  • @Sythalin said:
... which solves literally nothing as far as people purposely depipping. R15 becomes the new R20, that's all. It's just an illusion of change, just like the illusion of choice when playing slot machines.

It solves the "RANK 20's" with 4 purple perks and purple items/addons from crushing our brand new people and tainting the game for them. Often causing them to just refund the game.

If you don't enjoy the game playing solo... do you really like playing the game at all?

Or do you just want to team up and bully someone?

So having fun with a friend automatically means im bullying someone else? Get over yourself. If I want to play single player games I'll play on a console relaxed on a couch. This is a (co-op) multiplayer game.

Get informed my friend. This game was designed as a multiplayer game, it was not designed around having teams with full communications. It was meant for 4 strangers to meet up in the level and work together or not to escape. It was never intended to be people playing with their friends, they made KYF for that.

Just remember that when you and your friends get together to "have fun" with your advantages afforded you by the comms. There is one player that is getting shafted, and that's the guy hosting the game, and playing by the rules.

SWF are cancer for this game, and its people like you who maintain SWF are fine because it is you that have the upperhand.

And I maintain that if you don't find the game fun playing solo as it was intended for you to play it, then do you even like the game, unless you can essentially cheat.

I play killer and never dodge lobbies because I enjoy the game and think playing against SWF makes me a better killer.

Anyone that complains about SWF and dodges SWF lobbies are just bad killers in my opinion.

You are welcome to your opinion, but calling someone bad because they don't want to spend a game being bullied by mechanic short fallings is a little obtuse.

Killers do not want a BRIBE, they want fun game play.

swf isn't fun, i'll take the payola.

I agree, in the short term the BP boost might be nice, but once you have P3'd everything what does the BP get you? The games are still annoying and you have more BP's then you know what to do with.

  • It would all depend on what the survivors value most. There are those gen rushers out there that might just focus the gens. But most of the survivors I play against "HEALING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING" they stop everything else to heal up. So this build might really work, as far as causing them to waste time doing other things then gens.

I might switch in Nurses Calling for BBQ. Atleast then you can see them while they waste time healing.

  • I've had a read of the Patch Notes,

I didn't see anything other then the Brand New Part that was drastic.

They made the trap killers a bit more viable.

People have been asking for more Killers to be viable at high rank, and in order for that to happen they need to tweak them.

Can someone tell me exactly what the OP thinks is so game breaking?

I DONT CARE IF IT IS SONYS FAULT!

As far as BHVR should be concerned I am their customer.

If I were to buy milk at the store get it home and find out its spoiled even though the date says I have a month, I'm returning the milk to the store! Do I care if it's the stores fault? Do you think the store would tell me it's not their problem and I need to talk to the farm it came from?? NO! because "they" are the point of sale and "they" have a responsibility to their customers!!

In closing, the issues may be caused by Sony but the communications and handling of the customer is squarely on BHVR and that is what I'm upset about and that is why BHVR needs to do something to smooth things with "THEIR" customers!!! The behind the scenes problems with Sony are their problems and a good company ANY good company doesn't pass that along to their client.

    What are you on about?

The updates are free and you are not paying a subscription fee, and you can return free back to the store all you want, its still free.

Now if you are talking about the DLC being late, you bought it when it was available. You didn't prepay for it. Once a DLC is available you are free to purchase it or not.

Some things are beyond BHVR's control, next you'll be thinking its BHVR's fault your net went out and you couldn't download the patch.

BHVR owes you nothing, don't buy the content if you think BHVR needs to be punished. Either enjoy playing the game or quit. But thinking you deserve COMPENSATION because you had to wait is ridiculous.

Not on the Steam Store page or Official Site does it say its stupposed to be 4 strangers. Stop making garbage up. The moment they added SWF in this game it became a multiplayer game for friends. Period.

That is my point, the game was never designed to have SWF. It was only added after the fact so NO IT IS NOT A MULTIPLAYER GAME FOR FRIENDS.

And the fact that there was no SWF portion only KYF, means they INTENDED FOR 4 PLAYERS ONLINE TO TEAM UP OR NOT, to play against a KILLER. They never intended for you and your friends to play together except in KYF mode. Just in true SWF hissy fit fashion you forced the company to add SWF because you just kept dropping lobbies to find your friends.

Anyways you keep thinking you are right, the rest of us know the history of this game.

    Honestly?

They should extend the 2x BP for PS4 users only. So we might be able to play with the kate and clown.

I understand they are doing a separate bonus event later this summer, FOR ALL PLATFORMS.

So the elitist PC player who verbally bullied and made fun of PS4 users get a 2x out of it as well. Silly.

Just get the DLC out today, and then extend the BP event 1 extra day. Easy peezy.

What does it matter if the second event hits all platforms? The game play itself isn't cross platform. Any rewards that xbox or pc players have gained do not affect the ps4 game at all.

And anytime there is a double point event, the game gets a jolt that helps keep the game going. Why would they limit it to just PS4?

    Because you feel wronged?

Grow up, understand that BHVR is in the business of making money, and it was in their best interest to get the new content out to EVERYONE. Unforeseen issues delayed that, believe me it cost them money to have it delayed.

Or you can go on believing that BHVR hates PS4 and it is a big conspiracy to screw you out of playing the new content.

Here's a solution for the SWF problem.

When survivors choose to join a lobby as SWF, the killer gets two additional perk slots, and one additional addon slot. The killer will then have a total of 6 perks and 3 addons.

This change will give the killer significant advantages, nullifying or getting ahead of the advantage of SWF communication and teamwork. It would open up the door to broken killer builds that could potentially crush SWF teams, to balance out how good SWF teams ######### on killers.

All killers would benefit immensely from this, not just nurse. Nurse would probably be broken beyond imagination, but at least SWF would get ######### on. Doc would have some pretty fun cancer builds for sure.

Looping would still be an issue (arguably the main complaint of killers), but two extra perk slots opens up for an easier time. An extra addon will also reduce the amount of time spent chasing a looper.

To me this change would be JUST AS GOOD as a SWF indicator, when I see more slots, then dodge. But hey maybe the additional perks would make a difference and the game might be tolerable.... but I doubt it.

  • @Kaelum said:
@JusticeZERO I would not be opposed to Double bloodpoints for the killer, but I doubt that BHVR would implement it, as it would be extremely easy to abuse. It would be AWESOME to have though.

The double points loses appeal once you have gotten it all, and whats left, SWF isn't fun for Killers.

While nice to have, Killers have said before they want more then a bribe to play SWF.

  • Fortunately the dlc's go on sale quite often. So if you are not in a big hurry to get all the dlc's you can get them when they cost less.

  • This thread will have two sides.

Killers = Thumbs Up, give me the choice for SWF
Survivors = NO THANKS, the game isn't worth playing if I can have the advantages afforded by comms. And Killer will always avoid SWF.

I play both, and yes, I agree give Killers the choice.

Not enough of the "Superior Master Race" to fill lobbies. Maybe they should buy a console?

    Nice. Well said.

We got moderately bullied on here for having a PS4 basically the last week.

Sucks... but the elitism needs to stop. They need to try to be a rank 1 killer on console. Different world.

Killer on controller is definitely a bigger challenge. I play on pc, and use controller for survivor and KB/M on Killer.

  • Ultimately the answer is no its not banable. Real life sometimes comes up, and instead of DCing, the survivors get a chance to get their objectives and leave, which is more points then the default dc values.

Absolutely nothing you can say will ever make COMMS ok with me. The game was designed to not have voice communications. And the only time these comms become an issue is with SWF groups.

Actually MANY of the problems with this game stem from SWF. But we have to keep it in because survivors whine and complain whenever it is threatened. I'm for calling their bluff. Sure we will lose people , but we will also gain all the people that have left the game because dealing with SWF shenanigans was just to much of a pain.

I've always been of the mind to give the Killers the option to pass on SWF games. But as always the survivors say that if you give the Killers a choice they just wont play SWF. And why exactly is that? Because playing against SWF , more often then not , is just a toxic crap show.

Give me some data. I hear this all the time, but no one ever has any actual numbers to show that "most SWF is a toxic crap show" and I just don't buy it.

Are some of them? Yeah. But I've played against a fair amount of SWF that were just fine and arguably played a ton worse than solo survivors because of all the altruism.

It's fine if the coms are not okay with you, and honestly I support the idea of adding in the option to not play with SWF because then it means I can avoid salty killers who complain about the feature even after they just 4k-ed the team. That would be great by me, too.

The fact that people are complaining about Killer lobby dodging should be all the proof you need that Killers are done with SWF. You can find tons of posts where Killers stated they never dodge, and one time too many and they see SWF is just not worth the frustration. I have to admit as you say that there are SWF that are fine, and some of them don't even use the comms for game related intel, they just hang with friends and have a better time. Unfortunately those are few. And the Killer population is hitting a breaking point where they would rather just dodge the lobby then take a chance of getting a toxic SWF group. So as a result all SWF groups get dodged.

Actual numbers are not required you just have to read the forums to see the state of the game.

The point is that communication happens anyway, yet the devs pretend like it doesn't when they create perks or killer abilities. Like if you just assume that people aren't communicating, Pig's crouch seem like an AMAZING ability. But the moment you throw communication into the mix, it becomes utterly worthless most of the time. Planning for the communication could avoid pitfalls like this, Pig could have gotten a much more powerful ability if designers built it around the idea people can communicate with each other.

I say the fix here is to get rid of SWF, and the communication problem goes away. And blah blah blah PEOPLE WILL QUIT IN OUTRAGE... no they wont, they'll hissy fit for a couple days and then play anyways. And the ones that stay gone we didnt need anyways.

No because people can still find ways to communicate. On Xbox, I can just invite you to my party right from the lobby. Not sure how it works on PS4 but I'm sure you can do something similar. If you want to make it really easy on PC, stream your game put the link as you name, once other survs catch wind of the idea they will all just be watching each others streams. It's an extreme example of how people can subvert the system, point is that getting rid of SWF does not actually solve the communication problem.

Yeah if people are that dead set on having an unfair advantage I suppose, only thing is, if comms were bannable, and people using streams was video proof of using comms, seems the problem could also be handled.

I understand that Killer just have to be shafted on the comms situation. Tech is to the point where we can't do anything about it. I guess just screw the Killer having a fair game.

People keep saying add comms and balance around it. Ok so just a for instance.

    They put in coms.
Give Killer BL2 to "BALANCE". (just a random buff of the top of my head)
SWF still ignore ingame chat and do their own thing.
Solos are screwed here as well even though the game has been "balanced" Only now solos have the added fun of looking for the mute button because some jerk wad is blasting "Barbie Girl" over the comms channel.

My point is any BALANCE around voice comms for everyone will be nulled by SWF using their own chats. And the balance that buffs the Killer will once again be unfair to the non SWF members of the team.

Ideally YES a balance would be great, but finding that balance is very unlikely and if you think its as easy as poof voice comms for all = balanced you are mistaken.

In game communication is meant for the solo players and if they don’t want to use it that’s their choice. So it wouldn’t be a waste of time to give solo players the option to do so because the devs can then balance around that.

The SWF people would still ignore the solo's, and the devs didn't really want communication in their game to start with. So it would be less successful then you hope. And Killers would not be very happy with now every game being a SWF communication fest. Too much information can be passed over voice, and it really is a game breaking issue.

The only part you got right is that the guy I just saved is a less optimal target, and where you are wrong is that THE KILLER STILL GOES AFTER THEM. They should chase me, but they don't, and this is my point. This is what I talk about when killers tunnel, they ignore obvious opportunities to get more survivors but they never take them.

Maybe read my posts again because you clearly don't understand my argument.

I read your post, you should try reading it as someone who plays both sides. It is in the Killers favour to KILL someone outright , and do it quickly. Allowing 4 survivors to run around unchecked is not smart play. The only way the Killer should be chasing you is if they have "Make Your Choice" on. Otherwise its smart play to tunnel the already hooked guy. The only people it doesn't make sense to are you survivors who think that the Killer is obligated to chase and hook everyone twice before they start killing people.

  • The tournament should have been played on the PTB with the Hatch closing option enabled. And then they wouldn't have needed a bullshit pseudo rule to handle it.

  • @thesuicidefox said:
. I've even unhooked someone with Borrowed Time, TOOK A HIT, and the killer stills tunnels the guy on the hook. Mind you I'm injured before BT even procs on the other guy. I'm literally saying to the killer "chase me instead" but no, they flat out ignore me. Sometimes they slug me and don't come back.

This kind of bull ######### needs to stop. Killers need to stop defending this type of behavior. It takes absolutely NO skill but is so insanely rewarding to the killer if survivors are not optimal (which is like 95% of the player base).

Let me get this right according to you.

The Killer has hit you once and you are hurt, and vulnerable, the other guy is hurt and has a sort of shield on him that allows him to ignore a hit. That would make the other guy the HARDER target. One more hit you are down and two more hits to down the other guy.

And you claim this way is the NO SKILL way of doing things? The Killer has chosen to hunt the tougher prey ... NO SKILL!!!!

When will survivors like yourself just accept that the logical and best way to play that situation is to kill the guy that has already been hooked. Sure it doesn't take into consideration the unwritten survivor game play rules, but F' those anyway.

And if you look at it from the Killer side, if you are running BT and are unhooking with him right near by, then chances are you are banking on being a good juker. Why risk chasing you all over the map, when he already knows exactly the juking skills of the person he already hooked?

Please stop confusing intelligent play with having NO SKILL. Because if the Killer did exactly what you think is SKILLFUL play, he would open himself up for many unknowns, possibly ones that could cost him the entire match.

You sort of can turn it off. There is a button that lets you minimize the chat to the right of the chatbar. Personally i would like an option is the settings menu that allows you to completely disable that chat. Out of sight and out of mind.

just press the button and your done my dude. lol

Where is the harm in a setting that permanently hides the chat? The current system is less then perfect.

go to gameusersettings.ini file and setautoshowchat to disable

Thanks for this, I'm sure this knowledge will help a bunch of people who would rather that end game chat not exist. Cheers!

A lot of people “brag” with P3 because it’s the only way to distinguish oneself from well people without P3.

And camping is worse than looping in my opinion. The killer can choose to disengage from a loop and look to chase someone else. A survivor cannot choose to not be camped.

You can however choose to not do activities that get you camped.

    Sorry man,

The survivor was being instructed BY THE GAME to "FIND HELP" , you being the only surviving survivor in the game, you were the ONLY HELP she could go to. She just thought she could save you the time by coming closer to you to finish the heal.

The Killer was just playing smart and following the wounded prey. They didn't start out playing together, and it was your actions (of leaving her for dead) that led the other survivor to do the only thing she could do to survive.

And as it turns out the Killer rewarded her, seems like a solid strat to me. She lived and you died because you decided to leave her to die. Unfortunately the game is not fair. But by at least doing as much as you did you still got a lot of BP's right ?

No, no, this just pisses me off now.

Claudette was farming with the Clown in the middle of the operation theatre, I had Empathy and saw her injured outline, the Clown kept throwing bottle after bottle after bottle after bottle, each time getting the Intoxication score event while she stood still, then she went to smack all pallets in the vicinity on his head.

When I got closer, she spotted me with her Bond and motioned for the Clown to follow her. She kept following me with the Clown running after her, until he spotted me in the distance, starting the chase. It eventually ended with Claudette waiting atop the closed hatch in the operation theatre, and the clown carrying me into the basement below.

She did not seek help, she sold me out, clearly and without a doubt.

Do not dare ever again assume how a game went if you weren't taking part in it.

Excuse me DocOctober, just because you didn't like my answer to your post doesn't give you the right to mark it as abuse. Where do you get off reporting like that, that report itself is abuse of the system.

You said in your post that the survivor was left bleeding on the ground, so I assumed they crawled along toward you. Nowhere in your OP was there any story of how the survivor farmed points with the Killer etc.

I gave a fair assessment from the original message you posted. Having been the guy left on the ground to bleed out I myself have crawled along towards the only remaining survivor. What are we supposed to do just accept you are not willing to help us and sit there and wait?Screw that, I'll sell you out 100% of the time, sometimes the Killer even throws us a bone. Survive at all cost, am I right?

Again not impressed that you are soooo butt hurt that you marked my post as abuse, not cool little boy.

What's hilarious is if console players got the update and pc players had to wait this long they would be just as angry as we are.

That happened, MS accidently released Ms. Piggy a day early and the PC players threw such a massive tantrum i saw fish drown in their tears.

That was the day they lost their high ground.

Yeah the problem there was THEY HELD BACK THE PC version to coincide with the console release. And ended up mucking that up. Where as if there weren't screwing with the pc release time to match the darn consoles then there wouldn't have been an issue.

Again PC's were fine and dandy and the consoles caused an issue. I say they just release PC version when its ready and the console people can just wait. They are the ones who's process is long and drawn out, why should the PC version pay that price?

ds overpowered? good lord.  one time use.  if you can't deal with that, ds is not the problem

Dude in a game where an average chase can end up with 2 gens done sometimes 3. A free get off the Killers shoulder for another chase that could lead to another 2 gens done. Means that the Killer could be looped by ONE guy with his ONE TIME PERK for the entire game.

If you cannot see that DS is OP then you are choosing to be blind to the issue. And there is an issue because the Devs are looking into finding a way to make the perk more balanced.

Not all swf use voice chat though so...nah.

I'd have to say single digit percentages do not use Voice.

You can. Doesn't mean much without any stats, which you don't have.

If you think that the majority of SWF play without comms, you are just blowing smoke up your own arse.

And it really doesn't matter what the actual stats are, the PERCEIVED STATS are that most SWF play with comms and that gives such an imbalance to the game that Killers would rather dodge them, then take the risk.

Time for a reality check my friend.

Please remove the limit. It only exists because people were botting when the game was first release, now I never see bots.

I feel the cap should stay. I'd like to see that when a new Killer/Survivor come, that they actually have to learn to play them and learn their perks. Far too many people save up 1 Mil points and just blow through a number of blood webs, giving the supposedly new Killer/Survivor all the same boring META perks with maybe one of the new perks mixed in for flavour.

I'd actually love to see a Maximum spending limit on each web of 100 k before you need to play a match with them to level them up again. It'd be nice if points earned could only be spent on the character they were earned on. Now I know this is a strong statement but hear out my reasons before flaming.

If points earned could only be spent on the character that earned them, then we would potentially see the following things. A more diverse gaming experience, as people are forced to spent at least a little time learning all of the killer/survivors and their perks. Less of the META, this game needs less meta, it makes the game often a boring "wash, rinse, repeat" type experience. Also having it this way would be more of a bragging right. "I've p3'd all my survivors!" means you played all of the survivors to P3, not just mained your main and bought everything because you had nothing else to spend points on.

Also limiting the spending also makes the decision to prestige at all, way more a sacrifice. Saving up a Mil points and then prestiging, makes the sacrifice so much less, because you are usually back in a pretty good position after respending the mil. Removing the BP cap would effectively make prestiging free. Just save up 3 mil and go ahead, now you own your reward without giving up anything.

Prestiging was supposed to be a tough descision, "Do I get the cool cosmetic , and go back to square one? Or do I keep what I've earned thus far and continue on?" NO CAP = NO BRAINER

    I disagree.
Saving up 3 mil would take a lot of time and dedication. Someone who spends enough time to save up so many bloodpoints should know what to do with them. The limit is just stupid.
Or do saving accounts for kids have limits on how much they can save?

And I disagree with you, so I guess we are at an impasse, only I gave reasons for my opinions, and you sided with ... "The Limit is just stupid." and something about kids saving money.

Ok i´ll have to explain the analogy. You think a person who could save up 3 million BPs is not mature enough to know what he will spend the BPs for. Thats why i brought up the example of a kids savings account. Since they are not mature enough, they can´t save more than 1000$... ohh wait, yes they can.

So again, someone who spends a whole month playing DbD and saving the BPs, should be able to save up enough to spend them where he wants. You are not the one to decide if people have the right to spend their saved bloodpoints.

I never said anything about maturity level. I'd thank you to not make up conversations I did not have. And what the hell does maturity level have to do with spending BP's?

Currently there is a cap, and I think it should stay in place. So apparently BHVR thinks they can tell you how much to spend.

I see a lot of useful points to having the progression slowed down a bit. The whole prestige system is counting on there being a hard choice that Players need to make about whether to start over and have a new cosmetic or maintain the perks and items they have to continue on playing at the level they currently are at.

Your way takes away from that. "I'll just save a crap ton of points and prestige so there is no draw back, because I feel I should get the cosmetic and not have to give up anything for it". Just more entitlement showing its way into the player base.
