it doesnt mather what you or anyone inculding me thinks, if a player plays a game where he is way overpowered, then he will leave, on the hook or faster by dc-ing
if you main killers dont like that, well maybe look at the game handed to you....are you facing potato's like me...then take it a litlle slower, and take your time finishing them of, let them do some gens, who knows, all of them before you slaughter them....that way does potates got a feeling they almost had it
I'm a survivor main. I get annoyed by survivors DCing because it almost inevitably leads to me taking the hatch, instead of having a fun trial.

depending on the how....try to look at it from a survivor point at view, first 10sec of a game, a killer got you from behind with a 1 hit kill.....hmmmm not a gen popped and you didn't even take a step....or could take a step, imo i understand that someone like that thinks....f this. A killer player should atleast put in a litlle effort to make a game fun, not just go for easy kills and speedruns.
in the situation i described a killer could have initionate a chase, a sort of heads up that he is coming if you not start running, but thats not always the case, and there you have it, problem reaction
So why is the killer responsible for making sure survivors who can't handle losing continue playing? Hell, does anyone (besides those survivors) even want them to continue playing (read: DCing/giving up)?
-
@toastcrusher said:
Here we go again....same people always defending the same #########....people dont dc or kill themself on the hook because they get hit once or dont like the killer.
THEY dc because they are playing a complete a hole and when you've played long enough its easy to see what kind of killer your dealing with.
And stop with the team bs....your team is facing the same a hole and will find out soon enough....most play solo and when 1 or 2 decide to leave in a match that was ALLREADY going nowhere except for the killers fun, then best be done with it.
who the f do you think you are telling others what kind of games they want to play, instead of trying to blame the outcome, you should focus on the cause.
If this was truely a big problem then BEhaviour should have done something about all the tunneling, camping and other unwanted play style
"The killer found me first? DC!"
How do you prevent these DCs, given that someone has to be found first?

That’s exactly what I mean and why I don’t care about DCing in particular. If someone doesn’t want to play a match they won’t and this is why the dc penalty essentially does nothing imo.
I’m not condoning it but I can at least understand why someone who isn’t having fun in a game might quit and do something they actually do find fun
And my point is that if you were right, DCers/quitters wouldn't be coming here to whine about the penalty. They'd just suicide or whatever.
-
@Phasmamain said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2495888#Comment_2495888
I never said to change it. Fact is it doesn’t stop people from suiciding/throwing matches which is essentially the same thing if not worse since they might actively hinder the team by helping the killer
Throwing is throwing. Hardly matters whether someone gives up in a football match by throwing a tantrum and walking off the field (DCing), getting a red card (suicide), or scoring own goals (actively helping the killer), the result is the same: the team loses because of one person who can't deal with the fact that not every game will go according to plan.
-
@Phasmamain said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2495837#Comment_2495837
Well the person clearly isn’t having fun so why should anyone care if they leave?
Even if they don’t leave they’ll probably just suicide or throw the match. I’ve seen it happen a lot especially in match against certain killers. If you don’t give them one option they’ll just do the next best thing
If the penalty is irrelevant, then there's no reason to change it. Yet, DCers come to the forum constantly to rally against it.
-
DbD wouldn't be the same, just like it's not the same without McLean and wouldn't be the same without any other dev, but I'd still play it.

If you don't need that number, I'm happy for you. I need it because I have no other way to measure myself.
You can't tell if your opponents now are better than the ones who came before?

Ah the game is not for long time players anymore, its new players they are focussing on. We, og players, basicly had a 5 year early acces game.
Are new players not subject to the SBMM or something?
The game is still the same, they just improved the matchmaker.
-
You don't need an arbitrary number to know whether you're better or worse, though. At least I don't. It's obvious from how you play and the opponents you go up against.
The old system made it possible to club baby seals and get crazy win streaks without actually improving. MMR requires you to actually be better if you want to do well.

They could, but they won’t. DBD has no competition and makes so much money that they have no desire or drive to make the game better in any way/shape/form/fashion. If another game was on the market threatening to take players away from their player base it would incentivize BHVR to actually make good quality changes to attract people to their game. As it stands now BHVR can do whatever they want and get away with it because what other game can you play that is an asymmetrical 4v1 horror game?
There have been quite a few, but they all died. To me, that indicates most people like BHVR's changes to DbD.

Nice attempt at logical fallacies there. Really nice.
Well, because you asked for it:
It has nothing to do with perception.
Let's continue with the example of Lethal Pursuer:
Nurse, and other killers with great map mobility get an unfair advantage out of it. As it allows them to breath down the survivors' necks before those can even orient themselves. Does it need practice with the killers in question? Yes, but it still skews the balance in a way that cannot be alleviated by anything survivors can do.
Is OoO a potential counter? Potentially, if you can scram fast enough. And even then it does not balance things out again.
On the other hand you have LP on killers with low mapmobility. Here it balances things. It allows people to lay down a tactic which survivors can still see through and counter. E.g. trapper securing one side of the map. Sure, it does require survivors to see through it to begin with, but at least they are not caught bare.
Now, Lethal pursuer is a short-duration advantage, but a big on in the hands of the right killer.
'crutchperks'... or let's call them 'unfair advantages' vary from killer to killer, from playstyle to playstyle.
In short you can say:
Every perk that disproportionally amplifies something that you/your character can do fine on their own (basics or via addons) is out. (e.g. noed and devour on tuftstone myers)
"Unfair" by whose definition, though? Yours. Some people think everything that's in the game is fair.

If that would be the case with the system, then it needs some tweaking and is way too sensitive.
First night of its release, all seemed okay for me. No match was a stomp, all were close and could have gone either way. All five of us were within 2k to 3k of each other in ending BP totals.
But on the 9th and 10th, it went south. Suddenly I'm in matches where I am lucky to get 1 or 2 hooks in a match. And match after match, stomp after stomp against me, nothing changed. I played somewhere between 20-30 matches with Myers just to try to get some stabilization and balanced matches again like the first night, and nothing even remotely like that occurred. It was like the system boosted my MMR up after the first night on Myers, and despite all the constant stomps I ate across all those subsequent matches in a two day period, has refused to adjust me lower in the slightest.
I haven't logged in since Friday night, and see no reason to at this point.
Per a "system scan," my skill level would have suddenly decreased. But at the same time, the skill of my opponents massively increased. And my MMR is not adjusting downward in response to any of that. And I am not attempting to throw in the slightest. I am simply that constantly outmatched.
That could be an issue, yes, and it's why the devs need feedback on this stuff, not just players complaining to each other.

difference is, this one is actually working mostly fine xD
Only because it's a static filter that doesn't try to discern context. That also makes it easily bypassable.
Anyway, as I always say, if people want to see the filter improved, they need to provide feedback on it to the devs, not just complain to each other. There isn't going to be an option to disable it, at least for now, so that's your best option.

Maybe the system understand that even being bad as hell certain hooks would be possible.
Or it finds a sudden and consistent decrease in skill too obvious.

if you think that every perk is a crutch, I feel sorry for you. If you really see no difference between using Lethal Pursuer on Nurse and using it on Trapper... smh
The main difference is your opinion.
There's a reason you can't give out a proper definition of what a "crutch perk" is: it depends on your perception of it. For some people, all perks are crutch perks. For others, only meta perks are crutch perks. For others still, only perks that synergize with each other or the killer are crutch perks.

@Viciusaurus said:
Felt this. I know it's only been out for a few days and is still trying to find stability, but right now it has brought out the extremes to both sides, and it's really unfun to play either side right now. I've had matches where I try to be chill and get rewarded with a big fat loss in less than a few minutes.
MMR isn't a one-time thing. You don't lose one trial and then immediately get easier opponents. It's statistical, meaning it needs to take into account a prolonged period of time.
-
Technically it's "you will go up against players who are at the same level of skill as you when you use your chosen playstyle". So someone playing casually can still go up against 4-man SWF with meta perks if they're really good.
From your score screens, though, I'm guessing you're not playing casually at all - you're going for the win.
-
Nobody. Some can resist Her or even break the connection, like the Huntress (hence Beast of Prey), but a killer fighting the Entity is like a human fighting a god. The god may be amused or it may not, but you don't stand a chance either way.
-
It won't affect DbD's lifespan in any noticeable way. That's my guess.
Most multiplayer games I've seen have some form of SBMM, and they remained alive and kicking for many years.

Not directly, no, but many users have taken to add links where you can donate money to them. In this case it's just begging for Steam points, which aren't worth real money, but it's still a form of profit. Besides, who's to say this person won't just start adding links begging for real money?

Steam could but not BHVR although they could weigh in I'm sure. But as far as user made guides on steam go its a non-issue.
I'd say stealing content and presenting it as your own for your profit (however tenuous it may be) is an issue. I know some people think the idea of ownership on the Internet is silly, but I think if someone puts effort into something and someone else steals it for profit, the second person should be punished.

Basically all combos that skew balance in some way that was probably not intended and maybe just an oversight.
So: M&A and/or STBFL on Slinger (there's addons that do something similar, try those?), M&A on myers, any unfair addon combos (tuftstone myers for example).
Basically see how well you do with 'plain' killers.
Basically all combos that skew balance in some way that was probably not intended and maybe just an oversight.
So don't use anything good or with synergy?

If I were a dev and got a report of something like this, I'd ban the user and delete the guide. No fuss, no muss.
-
Because there are 4 survivors to every killer and systems like this depend on people being honest about their experience. So you mark your 3 teammates as "useless", but they do the same to you, as does the killer. You get 4x the number of "reports". Who's supposed to benefit from this system?
-
Because they give out a lot of information you're not supposed to have by default. As for why BHVR "didn't do anything", it's for the same reason Usain Bolt didn't break any world record in swimming: because they had no intention to and never claimed otherwise.

In case you're serious:
Never click on anything that claims to offer something for free.
Never share your personal information with anyone online.
Never click on any ads, period.
Never trust any text messages or emails you didn't ask for.
Never install any software someone/something else tries to push onto you.
That should have you covered regarding cybersecurity.

The reason I'm mentioning this is because I can provide one of you with all the auric cells you could ever need, however there's some admin/red tape issues, just a small annoyance really but I need someone with a US bank account to wire me a small amount of auric cells, no more than 20k of them, so that I can start doing business in the land of opportunity. 20k cells in exchange for unlimited cells forever? Opportunities like this don't come around often and I have a lot of interest already so I suggest you act quickly!
Seems legit. Here's my social security number, date of birth, credit card information, and I'm putting you on my will.

An agreement is negotiated. Not all licensing agreements give the license holders the same amount of power, I think BHVR is giving too much. And if they can't negotiate better terms, I would rather have them stick with original killers. This license has taken away BHVR's ability to be transparent with their playerbase and I just don't think that's worth it.
So you think a single voice line potentially being removed (something that BHVR probably didn't think would ever happen, like how some medications say they "may cause sudden and unexplainable death", even though that's never going to happen) is enough of an issue that BHVR should just toss out any potential licenses and essentially hand them to other companies?
It's a voice line, not the end of the world.

This is true although the film itself definitely felt like it had some innuendo and sexual subtexts so it's not as if the memes are really that disparaging to Hellraiser.
I know, but that's not really important. What's important is what the license holders think. If they think they're disparaging, then they're going to act on that.

Exactly, if the license holders got bent out of shape, it's pretty pathetic on their part. Let's face it, Hellraiser is a franchise that had one good movie over 30 years ago, if anything the jokes will help people remember what the hell it is. It's sad that BHVR gives the license holders so much control in their agreements. Currently, DBD is far more popular than the Hellraiser franchise, BHVR should have the power in those negotiations.
I get them having complications with Stranger Things, but Hellraiser? That shouldn't happen.
It's sad that BHVR gives the license holders so much control in their agreements.
Pretty sure that's how all agreements work - no license holder wants their license degraded.

The funniest thing is, that the outrage doesn't usually come from the side one might expect. As is apparent by this thread and the countless similar threads that have been closed, because people who are effectively on the same side couldn't stop bickering about what is enough and what defines as this or that.
It's almost like most groups of people aren't monolithic entities.
