It would be great if BHVR added that Killer so Paulie Esther can relax a lil bit.

Orion is sad that his name isn't the first one being mentioned when Candyman comes up. I've been asking for Candyman for years, pretty much since the first license (Shape) came to DbD.

  • My only issue with NOED is that other survivors don't cleanse totems. It's not hard to know where the spawn areas are.

Whatever the point still stands that the Anti cheat sucks. And needs a valid replacement. I don't know what but something has to give here.

No anti-cheat on the planet can account for cheats that don't exist yet. Cheats come before anti-cheats can account for them, like vaccines.

Bricking a console or PC basically means you can't use it anymore. Microsoft and Sony Brick consoles that have been Jail breaked (modded) so they can't access the online features ever again. Now when I say bricked I mean kind of like what overwatch does. Where if one profiles gets banned for cheating the whole PC can never play overwatch again. I think it was overwatch anyways

That's a hardware ban, it's something very different from bricking.

  • Making it unusuable, which means it's comparable to a brick.

  • @Sweet_Tour said:

Behavior needs to start bricking PC's of cheaters. This way If you want to cheat, you gotta buy a new computer Everytime you wanna play DBD.

You do know that's illegal, whereas cheating is not, right?

You don't have to play competitively to play well. You can be good at the game and be casual just as you can try really hard at the game and suck.

If your casual is so good that it automatically puts you against the best of the best (which Blights apparently are, according to some threads I've read), you are a video game god.

I play a lot and have an embarrassing number of hours. I'm also not a potato. I already encounter this killer/build frequently while playing casually and it's only going to get worse with SBMM, I'm afraid. It's pretty boring to go against so often.

The current ranking system isn't a good predictor of what will happen with SBMM. Relax.

  • A consequence of playing competitively.

Sorry, I completely missed that word. However, if you play casually as survivor, you shouldn't get to that point.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I have no issue with the individual killer mmr. I just don't want to be forced to play against ruin undying tinkerer blight every game when there are 20+ killers on the roster.

Nobody's forcing you to do that, that's a conscious choice you make.

It's late and my brain is tired.

  • Yes, people who play to win and are good at the game will go up against other people who are also playing to win and are good at the game. I don't see why this is an issue.

You can't play competitively and complain that others playing competitively makes the game not fun for you. If you don't want to go up against people who play competitively, then don't play competitively yourself. If you play competitively, then you get real competition. It's that simple.

  • I'm for it because my experiences with it have been positive. It works, at least for me.

  • This has been claimed since the game launched. I'm going to learn from history and say "no".

  • You're goddamned right I am. I can finally play killer again in a serious capacity after all these years. Hell, maybe I'll become a killer main. I could use a break from all the survivor gameplay.

  • This is being changed in the next update.

Why are you ignoring the fact that you can down a survivor in basically 5 seconds? Killers will get hooks so fast and it will likely offset the speed of repairing 10 generators.

But, let's assume for a second that you are right and the gen repairing speed will offset the insane downing & hooking speed. As a whole, yes, survivors will win. But this group of survivors is actually made of individuals who want to have fun. And if each chase ends instantly, without any counterplay or input from the survivor, then there is no individual fun for each survivor. Even if the team wins at the end and some survivors escape, there is no individual fun to be had. I don't play this game to hold m1 or just to see my character exiting thru the gate, I play it for the "push & pull" action that happens between the survivor and the killer, mostly in chases. You are essentially taking this away so there would be no point for survivors to play this game. It seems your thinking process only considered the killer side of the argument while there are 2 sides involved.

If you are correct and the gens will go by so fast then neither the killer of the survivors will have a reason to play this game mode. Killers will not play because of how fast gens will be repaired and survivors will not play because there is no potential for being chased and actually doing something fun, instead of m1 simulator.

And why would I trust you? Who is "we"? Are you implying you are part of some elitist group that performed an in-depth analysis we peasants are too stupid to comprehend? Why are you assuming I didn't think this thru?

Why are you ignoring the fact that you can down a survivor in basically 5 seconds?

Because you can't, unless the survivor is literally standing still.

Killers will get hooks so fast and it will likely offset the speed of repairing 10 generators.

    It really won't, no.

But this group of survivors is actually made of individuals who want to have fun.

The killers are also individuals who want to have fun.

And if each chase ends instantly, without any counterplay or input from the survivor, then there is no individual fun for each survivor.

You're the one saying chases would end instantly, though, not me. I also doubt killers would enjoy chases that last 5 seconds. Once in a while? Maybe. Every chase? Definitely not.

I don't play this game to hold m1 or just to see my character exiting thru the gate, I play it for the "push & pull" action that happens between the survivor and the killer, mostly in chases.

And I play to survive. I don't see why your goal matters more than mine.

It seems your thinking process only considered the killer side of the argument while there are 2 sides involved.

Not really, no. I considered the survivors' perspective too, which is why I don't want this to be completely tilted in the survivors' favor. I don't want to hold M1 for 160 seconds and then escape without really doing anything, all while the killers struggle to hook survivors.

And why would I trust you? Who is "we"?

    "We" being "old DbD players".

Why are you assuming I didn't think this thru?

I didn't, that was you, who assumed everyone else didn't think this through, as you can see here:

    @Artick said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2465831#Comment_2465831

Exactly. This would be insanely broken in the killer's favor. Both killers have to chase the same survivor and they will instantly get the down because looping would be impossible since they can come from both sides of the loop. Repeat and win.

And then we have people wanting 2v6 because 2v8 would somehow be too easy for survivors. Goes to show how people don't really think things thru.

Goes to show how people don't really think things thru.

I was simply responding to what you said. So why were you assuming/claiming people don't think things through?

In a game balanced around 1v4, no, I really wouldn't care if a 2v8 mode is unbalanced chaos. It's clearly more of a mode for fun, not to take it seriously and try to sweat and win. Lots of games have chaotic alternate modes that aren't balanced. League of Legends has URF, which was so popular that Riot got rid of the mode altogether because people weren't playing regular LoL. Overwatch has Total Mayhem, which has a significant player base/cult following. I also believe Blizzard has limited the times it comes around because too many people were playing it.

My point is most people like the chaos and fun, regardless of balance. You also have this bad habit of insisting everything you say is right. "You should care too for the same reason", no, I shouldn't, and I don't have to. I want a 2v8 BECAUSE it would be unbalanced fun. If it's balanced to play exactly like 1v4, why make the mode in the first place?

My point is most people like the chaos and fun, regardless of balance.

Agree to disagree on that point.

You also have this bad habit of insisting everything you say is right. "You should care too for the same reason", no, I shouldn't, and I don't have to.

    You're right, my apologies.

I want a 2v8 BECAUSE it would be unbalanced fun. If it's balanced to play exactly like 1v4, why make the mode in the first place?

I want a 2v6 mode because it wouldn't be the same as 1v4. I also don't think "unbalanced" and "chaos" are the same as "fun", especially for the side that gets shafted in that equation (which would be the killers). I think you'd have trouble finding a match in that mode because it'd be unbalanced, since nobody wants to be a punching bag.

While the killers are ganging up on one survivor, there are 7 other survivors working on 10 generators. Before they even got the second kill, the gates would be open.

Trust me, we thought this through a lot, since this is probably the most requested feature (besides buffs, nerfs, and licenses).

  • @calem said:

"2v8 too strong blah blah blah make it 2v6"

man who tf cares, 2v8 sounds like an absolute blast of fun. if you're so worried about balancing then stick to 1v4, I would gladly take the utter chaos and mess of a 2v8 mode

If you want people to play that mode, you want it to be balanced. Killers are not going to sign up for a mode that's just heavily in the survivors' favor. So I care, because I'd actually like to play it. You should care too for the same reason.

  • 2v6. Take it or leave it.

In all seriousness, 2v8 is too strong.

  • Then you should try to appeal. However, if the video doesn't censor the name of the supposed hacker, you shouldn't post it here.

Looking at the survivors points can tell you what was going on. (a tent and campfire is involved)

Looking at the killer's points, that's not mathematically possible.

You obviously don't understand the product you bought into either. The point of the game is to get as many BPs as you can, not down all 4 survivors as fast as you can or get all 5 gens done as fast as you can. It's players like you that make this game a joke cause y'all think camping and tunneling is necessary, or gen rushing. let survivors gen rush, they will depip EVERY time, let a killer camp or tunnel and they will depip more often than not. If players in general didn't make up their own rules this game wouldn't be so horrible but killers and survivors players alike forgot what the point of the game is. This game will NEVER be competitive and the only "tourneys" change the rules of the game drastically.

They do need the information though, solo queue especially. Also yes, I meant secondary (forgive me, was writing this on mobile about to go to bed).

I think that totems in general should have a larger presence in the game past “is the killer running a hex perk?” I think they should be useful to both sides even when hex perks aren’t in play. “Boon” totems will eventually add on to this, but I have more ideas.

They do need the information though, solo queue especially.

No, they don't. There's only one reason why you could potentially use the information, and that's NOED. However, in your own words...

    NOED isn’t always in play.

The possibility of one perk being in play (which observant survivors can sometimes completely eliminate by seeing how the killer plays) is not a strong enough incentive for survivors to do the side objective.

NOED isn't an issue, so there's no need for this information to be given freely. Your logic.

Also yes, I meant secondary (forgive me, was writing this on mobile about to go to bed).

To be clear, I wasn't chastising you for saying "second" instead of "secondary", just that the usual claim is that totems are a secondary objective. There are different implications.

I think that totems in general should have a larger presence in the game past “is the killer running a hex perk?” I think they should be useful to both sides even when hex perks aren’t in play. “Boon” totems will eventually add on to this, but I have more ideas.

I disagree. I don't want to be forced to hold M1 even longer.

  • @toastcrusher said:

here we go again....maybe you should learn aout consent in law..forced consent isn't consent. ccontract excist out of 2 party's agree on something, bhvr's game and this forum, forces a person to agree after they bought the product, or else they cant use it.

but lets agree on 1 thing here...you're a great spokesman for bhvr ( behaviour) funny name he wink wink....

When I purchased the game on Steam, it quite explicitly said, in the store page, that it "Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA", with a link to said EULA. Why didn't you read it before buying?

As for the forum, you can read the rules before signing up. Again, why didn't you?

  • "Secondary", not "second". The former implies it's an optional thing, the latter implies it's something they must do to escape. If you want survivors to get information about totems as a second objective, then totems need to be something survivors are forced to do in order to escape - and I sure as ######### don't want that.

Chances are high that they scrapped it for gameplay-reasons. Everyone should immediatly see that there is a Breakable Wall. If they would be different on each Map, players might not be able to notice them right away.

I'd rather everyone have fun, to me it makes a better game all around.

What if their fun is in being toxic toward you?

EDIT: To be clear, my point is that "fun" is subjective, and saying you want "everyone [to] have fun" is like saying you want a perfect utopia. Everyone's definition of "fun" is different. Some get their jollies by being #########, others by being hyper-competitive, others by playing casually with their friends. What you want, in practice, is your definition of "fun" to be enforced on everyone.

  • @toastcrusher said:

I see one person who's aware of what "freedom of speech" actually means, and another who wants to spend money on a game they like. Which one is toxic?

  • @Tekno_Badger said:

You'll learn eventually that the devs think they know best despite a lot of the community having far far more experience than them and a better pulse on what people want. They also don't care to balance anything unless it endangers their profits, and even those "fixes" are lazy and only aimed at pleasing a higher amount than they screw over.

    1. Take the recent pallet validation fix. Survivors are fine now, but killers get hit rejected pretty frequently now regardless of their ping. Still, only 1 player getting screwed instead of 4.

    2. Take Freddy. Survivors hated him, so the devs made him this boring and uninspired killer that nobody wants to play anymore. Bonus, they might move onto a paid killer. They tried to do the same with Twins as well, but they're strong enough you can live with the clunkiness.

    3. Maps are ridiculously varied and there are so many insanely busted maps, but they don't put the effort into balancing them unless it bothers a huge portion. Typically it doesn't, since many are survivor sided and that pleases 4/5 players in a match.

    4. Current-gen consoles are still busted but I guess BHVR doesn't care now that the next-gens are out.

    5. The biggest one...Over half the perks and perhaps even the killers in the game are useless compared to the best ones.

You'll learn eventually that the devs think they know best despite a lot of the community having far far more experience than them and many of us having a better pulse on what people want.

No, we have an idea of what a tiny, loud minority of players want. Streamers, etc., have an idea of what their viewers (also a tiny minority of players) want (and, what a surprise, it's usually what the streamers, etc., themselves want, almost like people like to watch people with similar views).

The devs have access to the actual, real data regarding effectiveness of things, so when someone says something like "PGTW is too strong", but the data (hypothetically) shows killers who use it have a lower winrate across all ranks than killers who don't, the devs are going to trust the actual data, as they should.

As for experience, you really underestimate the tens of thousands of hours that QA puts into the game. I can assure you no DbD player has more playtime than they do.

Now cue people complaining about QA, saying my hypothetical scenario is unrealistic, and completely missing the point.

I agree but it's such a frequent complaint that i think they should consider it when designing new survivors perks/maps/killers etc.

Trickster is fun as hell to play, and he was recently buffed. As for the overall stress of playing killer, that's because of the matchmaking, which they're also fixing with MMR. If you're a casual player who actually plays casually, you'll face people of similar skill level. If you always play competitively, though, don't complain that your games become too stressful at a certain point - that's just the matchmaker doing its job.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I don't see them actively working for the anyone in the forums. Sprit nerfs? I don't see them. Killer is too stressful? "Go play civilisation"

If you're not enjoying a game, not playing it is actually good advice. It's better for your mental health and overall well-being not to force yourself to engage in activities that should be relaxing, but that you're not enjoying.

  • No, for the reasons that were already pointed out.

  • This is way out there. Candyman, if and when he comes, can be done in a number of different ways.

  • I mained Nurse back in the day because I liked the playstyle (predicting survivors' movements through terrain, having to be precise with blinks) and the fact that she's the only killer that instills fear on every survivor (at least until they get their wish and the most unique killer in the game gets nerfed into the ground).

I mained Jake because of his perks.

I main Felix now because he's hot.

  • How to be a better loser in general: constantly remind yourself that it's just a game, with zero impact on your life.

  • Accurate title: "Mods enforcing rules, user who broke rules get punished"

This isn't news: no naming and shaming. Unless you want people to start claiming you're a hacker just because they got pissed at something you said.

  • I hope so, but probably not, unfortunately.

  • None. You could make a case for No Mither, but that's about it, because having any perk is better than having no perk in the vast majority of situations.
