Agreed. Especially with all of the disconnects I've had. Really enjoyed the game yesterday with 4 WGLF stacks, party streamers, numerous gens and chases. Got to the end game and boom. Blue screen.

    Reallllllly thought that was cool.

Just wait until you have those 4 stacks with BPS and the killer uses the dc exploit on you that BHVR seems to be ignoring.

You'd get 0 bp no matter what you did, lose your items, and depip the next time you log in.

Dude, your thread was closed and the solution (dedicated servers) is coming. Get over it.

  • In my experience, the average DC rate per trial is close to 25%, not including those who don't make it into the actual trial.

You can't simultaneously say that getting chased is not a major concern and that it is a threat. They're mutually exclusive concepts.

There is no use in getting rabulistic instead of focussing on arguments.
You could tell your opionion on whether the chase is what makes this game fun for you, for example. :)

Or you could stop pretending that you're not making contradictory statements and make up your mind as to whether or not chases are dangerous.

Do you know those lights when you enter the basement? That's the Entity. She's not weak to light. The generators are just Her way of keeping the Survivors hopeful, make them believe that they can escape, so that She may feed on their hope.

"Her"? As in, capital H? Is Entity your god or something?

Anyways, just because the French name for Entity was female, it doesn't mean Entity doesn't have a gender. "Entite" sounds like the word Entity, hence why it may have been picked.

Well, She is the goddess of the Fog. In-game, She is everyone's goddess.

So, you are religious? Are you a member of a Entity cult or something?

Entity is not a goddess. THEY are a malevolent being for sure. Who may or may not be fully sapient. Don't honor them with the "goddess" label. Hell, Entity is more of a "it" if anything else.

They/it are a monster who wants to consume our world and does not care at all for anyone who gets involved in its games. You could even say they are a Lovecraftian monster.

I also have no idea what you've smoked when you say "everyone's goddess". None of the Survivors know about the Entity. Killers don't know much either.

If you are referring to offerings, which might not make sense Survivor-side because Baker knows little about the Entity and he's one of the oldest Survivors, then you could be offering them to a malevolent being, not a benevolent angel.

Please escape this Lovecraftian fetish you have. It is very concerning.

It's called "role playing". Look it up and calm the [BAD WORD] down.

Ah, but this is a question regarding official lore. Take your role playing elsewhere, lest someone assume you're being serious.

I'm serious about one thing: the Entity meets the requirements for a godlike being. She has power over life and death (literally prevents it for the Survivors), has seemingly unlimited reality-warping powers within Her realm (hell, most of the realm is made of Her), has existed seemingly forever, is immortal, and can even bend space-time.
Maybe you're expecting gods to be benevolent, but that's not a requirement. Never has been.

EDIT: By the way, the lore only makes sense if you role play. Otherwise, they're just meaningless statements.

If being chased is not seen as a concern, then that means the Killer is not perceived to be a threat, which, in turn, means that the game's balance is lopsided.

But being chased is a threat. If survivors aren't good enough and get downed too fast, they will lose the match.

If you are a survivor and getting chased, you are under pressure to last as long as possible before you get downed. (And with a good killer, you WILL get downed.) The thrill of the chase is the fun part of the game.

And isn't it the same for killer? Is the chase not what makes this game fun for you? Would you prefer helpless survivors that will get down within a couple of seconds after you found them?

You can't simultaneously say that getting chased is not a major concern and that it is a threat. They're mutually exclusive concepts.

Nope Shape already had a limited distance he could stalk from that doesn't change it at all as for Low-end PCs if they're purposely buying something not meant to game then why are they trying to game on it. You can easily get a PC for console price and still run this game I don't see the problem here.

Low-end PCs would get screwed because the hardware requirements would have to be changed on the fly. The minimum now can't handle unlimited draw distance (and yes, they'd have to force the same draw distance for everyone, because, as I mentioned, it's part of the game's balance). The game would have to be rebalanced around the new draw distance.
In other words, it'd cause such a shitstorm that it's not worth the devs' time and money. You're just gonna have to suck it up.

  • @easi_solstice said:
This was mostly about Huntress in the first place and no she wouldn't be absurdly over powered because then all survivors have to do is use THEIR eyes and not let a hatchet hit them from across the map. When it's that far you can literally dodge by reaction time.

The Shape would be able to stalk any Survivor as well. Stealth would become nearly impossible. Console would be unplayable. Low-end PCs would be screwed.
Bottom line is, the draw distance is part of the balance of the game.

  • @easi_solstice said:

If we had "unlimited" draw distance, the Killer would be able to spot you from across the map, and vice-versa. It's that way for a reason.

That's the point the killer should be able to use their eyes to spot survivors....

And you can... within a certain radius. If, say, the Huntress could see across the whole map, she'd be absurdly overpowered.

No, u tried to use the same logic but on a whole different topic. Doesn't work like that.
Also, gameusersettings.ini isnt actually a real game file, it's in a whole different directory than all the other gamefiles. U probably didn't even know that unlocking fps was done in engine.ini (much "riskier" file to edit, but still not a single record of someone getting banned from that) before the devs changed the way how this file works and it's done in gameusersettings.ini now. But yeah, keep being smartass while u don't know #########

It's the same logic - files are edited by what you do in-game. Hell, most files are probably edited by the game each time you play; that does not mean that you, the user, aren't breaking the rules if you edit them manually.
Also, I know how it works. I unlocked my FPS way back when the game was first released, among other changes, to get better quality. This was back before the days of "change files at your own risk". Nowadays, the only correct answer to this question is "change files at your own risk", and you are spreading false information if you claim otherwise.

I'll give you a hint why I said that: I know a little bit about black holes.

Me as well. I thought you would've caught on?

Not really, since a black hole wouldn't really rip you apart so much as squeeze and stretch you. Spaghettification is the term.
How long does it take for a black hole to completely absorb something into its event horizon?

depends on how stronk the pull of a black hole is, but they all might be the same so idk

You're not taking into account general relativity, which says that time will slow down the closer you get to the black hole. For the purposes of this discussion, it'd take an infinite amount of time for something to be completely absorbed.

Why not beeing precise? Unlocking fps is done in gameusersettings.ini and this file gets edited constantly while u change anything in the settings of the game. Yeah, even if u read the News some numbers get changed.
The answer is defiantly NO! Unlocking fps over gameusersettings.ini will 100% won't get u banned.

Your save file is also edited while you play the game. Does that mean it's OK to edit your save file?

  • This is an interesting metric, but if you ask for it in a Q&A thread, @Khalednazari, could you also ask them to do it by time of day?

At least we talk about this topic, maybe the devs change their mind and give us a way to do it safe (steam workshop for example)

I don't know. Maybe they're too busy with more important things, like a ban system for console, optimization, balance changes, and thus placed the "problem" of having to use default icons very low on their list of issues.

@Orion Sorry for the really nooby questions but how do they farm with the killer? I have never seen this.

Bodyblock one Survivor. Killer goes in, hits that Survivor only, they heal the Survivor, rinse and repeat.

BHVR can decide which files are getting checked by EAC and which not. Same with the ini files. They can give EAC a rule NOT to check folder XY (ideally the direct folder to the UI stuff) and everyone would be fine. Simple as that. Same is with some other games where u can change UI and even install whole mods for even more than that.

Maybe they could do it, but they won't. Therefore, you modify files at your own risk.

You didn't get my point. I mean: When it's not a group task but a personal task for each surv, you could just assign each surv to their personal gen. You don't have to bother with making totems or chests an additional objective.

    @Orion said:
I strongly disagree. I think that if the weak role doesn't see the presence of the strong role as a concern, that means something is fundamentally broken in your asymmetrical game.

We play that game hundreds, thousands of hours. There is no horror anymore (if there ever has been). And it is asymmetrical. 1, 2 or 3 survs won't win against the killer. It has to be a group of 4.

As a surv, you won't win a chase against a good killer. You will go down. It's just a matter of time.

If the amount of chase time would be reduced and instead the focus of the game would switch to survivors hiding, there would be no reason for me to prefer DbD over other horror games.

My point is that any variety would be welcomed at this point, even if the interaction is performed in the same way.

It's not about horror, it's about being a threat. If being chased is not seen as a concern, then that means the Killer is not perceived to be a threat, which, in turn, means that the game's balance is lopsided.

When I play survivor, it doesn't matter to me if I sit on a gen or totem or chest... I sit down and press a button. If you approach the topic from that direction, you could just give the survs their personal gen they would have to repair in order to escape. I'm no fan of that idea.

The interaction has to be initiated and controlled somehow. What were you expecting, exactly?

    @NoShinyPony said:

    @Orion said:
You don't think it's a problem that being chased is currently not a major concern for the Survivor?

Not at all. The chase is the fun part of the game. When I play killer, I want to chase survivors. I don't want to look for them in every corner, check lockers... And I don't want free hits or a simple chase that ends after 8 seconds. I want a nice chase with mindgames and when I finally down the survivor, I want it to have been a good chase between two good players.

It's the same when I play surv. I want to get chased and not hide the entire time or play gen simulator.

After all, that's why I play DbD. It's all about the chase feature. You don't have that with other asymmetrical horror games.

I strongly disagree. I think that if the weak role doesn't see the presence of the strong role as a concern, that means something is fundamentally broken in your asymmetrical game.

I don't know how I feel about the same rules, unless you meant something different from what I'm thinking. Spawn rules, dude. As in, their spawn locations, minimum amount, proximity, etc.. All that stuff's already coded into the game.

@Orion I'd advise playing as the Hag/Spirit to get used to the speed. My Legion build is:

Sloppy Butcher, Bloodhound, Hex: Ruin, and a perk of your/my choice (Meaning I need to get more perks. Thanatophobia isn't helping me as much right now)

My Spirit is level 43 or something. I'm used to the speed.

Ah, okay. So you already won half the battle. I don't know how you play though so it could be that. I normally use Frenzy for the first hit, then chase and try to get as close as possible. Then normal attack and boom. Sometimes I just chase without power, that hasn't harmed me too much yet.

I use Feral Frenzy, hit as many Survivors as possible, then I try to go back to the first guy and hit him before he can finish mending, when the timer is sufficiently low that a single hit will put them down. In theory, that should be the optimal way to play.

And how do I actually put Survivors down, given that the Legion is stunned after every hit and drops out of his power? Do I just keep hitting them with M2?

when you block them is after you hit them with feral frenzy, so end it when your infront of the deep wound survivor and lunge and it should take them out fast and cuts the chase down fast too

also if you know if your not gonna get infront of the survivor in time, do a lunge with feral frenzy to make less space between you and the survivor

huh, thats odd cause I get kills every match

Teach me, master. No, seriously, tell me how you play. My headset's busted so I haven't been able to play DbD since the Legion was released.

  • If you're not frustrated by the fact that you don't really get anywhere as Killer, then the Legion is worth buying. On the other hand, if you want a Killer who can actually, well, kill, the Legion is not worth buying.

  • Doesn't exist for Killers either. Sure, it's fun to vault windows and pallets, but what's the point if you never actually get anywhere?

  • Last I heard, there was no ETA, but maybe @Peanits or @MandyTalk have an update.

So what should the 4 different objectives for survivors be? The community and the devs have been thinking about introducing 1 additional objective for the survivors (see Halloween Petula Event which was an experiment). The problem is: A fitting objective hasn't been found since it's not an easy issue. If you are not asking for 1 but 4 objectives, then I'll ask you: What kind of objectives?

And another point: While you are getting chased you can't do the objective. With the current system it's not a problem as the other survs are doing the team objective. But how is a survivor supposed to do their personal objective if they are getting chased?

There are already five interactible items programmed into the game (I said four in an earlier comment, but I forgot one): pustulas, chests, totems, Jigsaw boxes, and generators. Most of the programming is already done. They have spawn rules, interactions, etc., all finished. All that's needed are some new models for new goals, using the same rules as the current ones. Hell, they could even be a random assortment of these items.

If a Survivor is getting chased, then they can't do their personal objective. They'll have to actually win the chase, or avoid getting into one in the first place.
You don't think it's a problem that being chased is currently not a major concern for the Survivor?

All I'm saying is don't encourage it and don't reward it.

Survivors are the ones who do both. Why are you trying to punish the Killers because Survivors reward camping?

  • @Delfador said:
I believe usual response will be 'we don't active punish people for doing that but if anticheat program detects something problematic, and bans you, there is nothing we can do.'

    That's the gist of it.

try looping a 110% killer without abilitys. Incredible to think about it right? You literally force legion to frenzy then, what an unnecessary idea of a nerf.

The Legion already moves at 110%.

OP, have you tried moving when you see the Legion coming? You know, so they can't hit you?

If you make it more difficult to report, then all reports - including legitimate ones - are less likely to come through. This is a bad idea, period.

If they don't issue console bans or suspensions. The function serves ZERO purpose what so ever on console. Other than to encourage people to throw a random report at someone who won. While were at it lets randomly report their name or picture too.

Yeah Im not talking about on PC.....again. If someone goes fullblown racism on you. You hit the report message in Xbox messages and they're DONE. The console version doesn't even have the end game chat. You also don't even get to describe the report through DBD. You just click on a picture and thats it. It just goes to Xbox. Even if it currently DID go to the devs the fact there is no bans or suspensions on console makes it pointless. Not like there going to sift through years of data after the fact even if they do implement that stuff later. Even most likely 85% of it just being people annoyed they lost.

As of now it does NOTHING on consoels except provide incentive to screw with people. Then cause me to have to deal with Enforcement to try and get my name back. Until it actually can serve the same function that it might on PC it shouldn't even be there for the consoles. IDK about PSN but I know for sure Xbox can be abused through it. Spoken first hand.

Bans are coming to consoles, eventually. Right now, the reports are logged, looked at, and tallied, so that the devs can ban whomever they see fit.

I would prefer the devs spend their time finding a better way to reinstitute their original ideas rather than implement something completely different.

If, as you say, this is how the game was meant to be played, then this is the way to reinstitute their ideas. You can't greatly affect how the game is played without also greatly changing the game itself.
