Constructive criticism and an ultimatum are two different things. Nice try though

In my experience, people who complain that they're being reprimanded for "constructive criticism" have never given constructive criticism. It's always insults, orders, ultimatums, etc..

    Pretty much.

While his title sounds like a demand it is not he is not demanding anything he's giving an opinion. Nice try though trying to ignore the obvious and pretend like he was demanding something.

Not to mention thats sometimes Survivors render in but the object infront of them doesn't.

@easi_solstice Have you tested messing with the command in the ini files? I think its sg_viewdistancequality IIRC. It's 0 for lowest and 3 for highest. I wanted to test this this week but can't find the time.

No but all that did was make objects in distance be far lower quality it didn't change the actual render distance I wish though or I'd do that.

  • I agree, would prefer distance over details. Its nearly impossible now to go on a hill and look for the last immersed survivor before he gets the hatch. Sadly, we can't get both without hitting the performance of low end to much and bhvr made the decision already

Are you saying current gen consoles can't even handle what a Nintendo 64 could I mean sure the graphics are obviously better but 99% of games on console can have double or triple this games render distance it's mostly about them not being able to optimize the game without stooping to just giving you ######### render distance.

  • Ur right, but at the same time it has now much better and detailed graphics, textures and shadows than 2 years ago. Also DbD had now 2 engine updates

    Render Distance > Details

  • Low-end PCs would get screwed because the hardware requirements would have to be changed on the fly. The minimum now can't handle unlimited draw distance (and yes, they'd have to force the same draw distance for everyone, because, as I mentioned, it's part of the game's balance). The game would have to be rebalanced around the new draw distance.
In other words, it'd cause such a shitstorm that it's not worth the devs' time and money. You're just gonna have to suck it up.

You realize the game had way better render distance than it does now for about 2 and a half years.

  • The Shape would be able to stalk any Survivor as well. Stealth would become nearly impossible. Console would be unplayable. Low-end PCs would be screwed.
Bottom line is, the draw distance is part of the balance of the game.

Nope Shape already had a limited distance he could stalk from that doesn't change it at all as for Low-end PCs if they're purposely buying something not meant to game then why are they trying to game on it. You can easily get a PC for console price and still run this game I don't see the problem here.

  • Congratulations, u have a powerful platform. Many others don't.

Also the average PC specifically bought or built to game could run this game at 60 FPS before they majorly reduced render distance.

  • And you can... within a certain radius. If, say, the Huntress could see across the whole map, she'd be absurdly overpowered.

This was mostly about Huntress in the first place and no she wouldn't be absurdly over powered because then all survivors have to do is use THEIR eyes and not let a hatchet hit them from across the map. When it's that far you can literally dodge by reaction time.

  • @Orion said:
If we had "unlimited" draw distance, the Killer would be able to spot you from across the map, and vice-versa. It's that way for a reason.

That's the point the killer should be able to use their eyes to spot survivors....

U want to play with 10 fps? Game is already heavy enuf to barely run on ps4 pro and average PCs

I played at 144 before the render distance was dramatically reduced so idk what you're talking about.

Oki so I used to be a Freddy main and had 3 perfect builds for him an found him very easy to use, NOW the PTB is out they have the new updated Freddy. My main issue with this is how they have changed everything when a survivor is in the dream world to make it as easy as possible for them to see everything with a little big of fog an pretty much exactly the same for Freddy. Tbh to me that has ruined Freddy he's a dark character that was burnt alive, and personally just missing a few screws, everything should be dark around him and in the dream world with thick fog.

Freddy also got "buffed" in the PTB. He's no longer the worst killer :)

    Now they reverted it.

That was fixed months ago bro.... and also it was intentional that's why it's a reversion not a fix.

Then why was it mentioned last stream? Bro...

It was fixed in 2.0.0 go check the patch notes.

Instead of trying to assume I haven’t faced other skilled killers, let’s focus on the suggestion.

Just saying the doctor is a mid-tier killer doesn’t mean he, or any killer, doesn’t need adjustment. If balancing is only done based on the top tiers of the current meta then the meta will begin/continue to exclude from it the killers/survivors who don’t have every perk/killer unlocked or the knowledge of what that meta is.

I’m open to the Doctor receiving a buff in another category to compensate BUT I feel that every killer’s mechanic should have a counter play. The stealth killers are countered by paying attention to your surroundings, for example. Right now unless you are close to a locker as he approaches there is nothing you can do while in the Doctor’s terror radius. And making the counter play exclusively “oh well there wasn’t a locker nearby now I’m found” or “okay there was a locker nearby I’m safe” isn’t good enough because no one can control locker position.

What I said directly after that message explained why the Doc is not good in anyway he needs a buff but why do I expect people to read before typing stuff anymore.

As we all know legacy was obtained by reaching P3, lvl 50 when blood webs were very hard to complete. During the patch that made the blood webs a lot easier to grind, every player who was at P3, lvl 50 before this patch received a legacy skin. This is a great achievement for the players who did so and they all deserved it for doing so much! However since I play console, I had no chance of obtaining a legacy skin and in my opinion, I think it's unfair that newer players or people who used different platforms didn't have a chance to reach P3, lvl 50 before the patch.

    What I want/wish?
A way to obtain a legacy skin while still being difficult to earn it like before the blood web patch.

After X amount of times after completing the blood web after P3, lvl 50... You'll get a legacy skin piece. The shirt/weapon, pants/shirt, then head after let's say 75/150/225 times completing the blood web after P3, lvl 50. This can be changed to make it more difficult if needed.

Thoughts? Yeah, if I remember correctly the developers did said that legacy won't come back but all I can do is wish they'll go back on their word.

What you ask for is still completely unfair to people who got it back then because the way you suggest to get it is still a lot easier than what it was back then but I wouldn't be opposed to having new cosmetics you earn through achieving something such as getting a certain don't quote me on this I don't remember if this is what it's called but something like "Dedication Level" for reaching your Account Level to 100 in the upcoming update.

A small but maybe meaningful nerf to the doctor suggestion:
Survivors don’t start gaining madness by his terror radius until they are directly shocked by the Doctor at least once. Once they’ve been shocked once they can begin passively gaining madness.

    Reasons:
-Doctor doesn’t get a free “here I am” notification by just walking around and not actually looking for survivors
-Better rewards survivors who are good at hiding/evading

Yes I agree lets nerf the killers that are low to mid tier so they're even worse so we have even less reason to play with them..... have you never faced a good Nurse, Billy, or Huntress? You're in for a rude awakening once you face one.

Translation lets ignore the issue and blame it on other things instead of actually looking for a balanced solution. That's like blaming the fact the doctor isn't meta at high ranks because he's not the best killer. Well there's always going to be a meta both for killers and survivors at higher ranks. There isn't a game out that that doesn't have this issue so stop using that as an excuse.

Ok if you want me to perfectly spell out why he doesn't need to be nerfed I will I didn't want to do a longer response but I will....

He can be looped like any other killer besides Nurse and DO NOT say oh he can shock them and stop it no he can't as long as it's a long look AKA 90% of loops they can stand on the complete opposite side of the pallet loop and be completely safe.

His power does literally nothing for him besides a bit of tracking but tracking is the weakest possible thing for a killers power a real killer gets power from a power that helps them in chases so Nurse can just blink through everything, Billy can instant down and has insane map pressure, and Huntress can throw over loops and do a melee hatchet + melee hit to down a survivor in seconds that is not near a loop.

That's pretty much it really.... he's just as weak as any other killer at chasing but actually weaker at low ranks because the Doc will try to shock a lot at loops which won't help. Only actual killers that I consider a "killer" are Nurse, Huntress, and Billy they're all amazing in a chase because Nurse blinks through everything, Billy can mind game pallets with his chainsaw though survivors may not fall for it, it'll make them drop the pallet if they know what you're trying to do and Huntress can throw hatchets over low loops and people can say "You can crouch" but the Huntress can simply keep it wound up walk around the corner and hit them anyway.

I had a game recently on the corn fields where a guy was hooked, I was chasing the last person down, and he Kobe’d off. They had only a smidgen of one gen left to do, so before I could even pick the person up I’d downed, he completed it, and got Adrenaline to get back to fully healed.

So instead of picking the person up, I went towards the gen that popped. I eventually caught him, downed him, and hooked him again. They all died, 4 player SWF, and after the match they invite me to an XBL party and proceed to ######### on me for not “respecting the 4%”.

Depending on how a game is going, if I see someone 4%, I might not chase them. But to what end are you supposed to reward survivors for being lucky? He didn’t get tunneled, he even got back to full health. Am I supposed to let him heal and escape?

I’ve played over 1,000 hours, mostly killer, and there are a lot of just plain stupid unwritten rules survivors have, but this one is the most bizarre to me.

Literally 2 words, "Entitled Survivors" just ignore them and kill that's the killers job.

  • @FSB75 said:
I honestly think the game is pretty balanced right now.

That's simply my perspective. Killer main, for every 4 times I play a killer, I play as a survivor. Never played SWF or with coms. Never ranked past 10.

My experience is vastly different from other members that post on these forums. My success as a killer and a survivor is all over the place.

I believe a small amount of players (but very vocal) are the ones who feel there are problems with the game. And it may very well be true above rank 10.

Speaking plainly.....as a killer, I've gotten 4ks and 0ks. Sometimes it's easy, other times it's almost impossible. To me, this tells me balance is almost achieved. What are my expectations? To me, killers that consistently get's 2ks per trial is right about where I would expect balance.

I believe people are becoming too focused on outcomes.

The experience is now lost on the results. Some of the most fun I've had, only resulted in 1 or 2ks. Survivors were smart and resourceful. I was outmatched and it didn't mean the game was broken. It means I made difficult decisions. bad decisions. I lost sight of my objective. And it was completely worth it to facecamp the player with the "twitch" name afflicted with weak thighs, causing them to spasm with every pallet toss.

I'll try to address my opinion on most of your points but might skip a few we'll see:

Game is Balanced + Your Rank:

You are simply contradicting yourself in this part you're saying the game is balanced but you're not even rank 1 which is what the game should be balanced around now into if it actually is balanced or not we'll get into in a bit.

Your Success is All Over the Place + People Having Problems May be the Ones Above Rank 10:

Yes they are above rank 10 that's why they're complaining..... the games chance a lot different from rank 10 to 1 but the point is the game should be balanced around the players who have been playing for a while AKA rank 1's balancing the game around new players is just the dumbest thing ever when you first start playing a game you should be getting completely obliterated until you learn how to play. And yes you are going to get easier wins at rank 10 as for losses you have to be playing a weak killer to lose at rank 10 unless you're playing against a good SWF which is an extremely rare thing to happen normally not all 4 players are extremely good. By weak killer I mean any killer besides Nurse, Billy, and Huntress sure some of the others aren't "weak" but they'll still lose against a decent team of survivors.

Some of the Most Fun You Had was 1-2k Games:

This is simply an opinion some people who like to win are going to be more frustrated in the games they do bad in whether it's from unbalance or being simply outplayed some people like to win a lot others have fun just playing the game it depends on who you are.

Killers Getting Consistently Getting 2ks Per Trial is Balance and People Are Too Focused On Outcomes:

A Killer in a Game is Supposed to be the Power Role they're supposed to decide how the game is going to go down meaning if they make mistakes they won't get their 4k but if they make none they should get it I'm not saying every killer ever should be getting 4ks no if you make absolutely no mistakes you do deserve to have it the killer is supposed to be the power role in a game like this but that is not the case BUT some killers do have power which I'll mention later. Also someone cannot be "too focused on outcomes" it depends on who you are.... are you playing to get a 4k? Maybe even a 2 or 3k but if you do worse than that those players will be upset which they have a right to do because the game should be balanced around the killers they play. Notice I say the killers they play I'm not saying all killers are weak which what I said I'll get into later.

    Balance:

The game is balanced if you're playing certain killers but still for one of these 3 killers you'll need a certain perk BUT every other killer that I am not going to be mentioning are too weak and will not win against average to great survivors which is not how the game should be all killers should be strong enough to win if they play correctly.
    Nurse:
Does NOT require any specific perks can blink and completely avoid pallets/windows if you play this killer AND get good with her you will win most of your games if you slug correctly though even I as a killer main will say this killer is to strong especially with certain perks + add ons
    Billy:
Does NOT require any specific perks BUT BBQ will make him much stronger. He quickly downs survivors with his chainsaw as long as the survivor is not near pallets and doesn't have Sprint Burst and with Billy keeping your chainsaw rev'd at 1% when survivor runs through pallet can potentially give you a free backrev depending on the size of the loop or if you have add ons but he does not really need add ons
    Huntress:
DOES require Ruin if you want to 4k though she is still really strong and can potentially 4k a lot of games without it but if the survivors are good enough you will still lose without it.
Now to address overall balance yeah it's in no way balanced any other killer can get owned by good teams yet you're supposed to be the power role and if you make no mistakes you should be winning.

    Face Camped Twitch Streamer:

I will not tell you to not face camp but if you have to resort to that because of unbalance or you simply getting outplayed it's well..... it shouldn't happen it's just boring to do and it's extremely unfun for survivors and I'm saying this as a killer main but go ahead and keep doing it if you want I'm not trying to stop you but having to resort to that sucks to be honest.

  • @Mashtyx1 said:
After following the Clown on the dev streams and through people on youtube, I can't help but notice that his power is a throwable and he has normal movement speed. Yet the Huntress has a throwable and was balanced to have a hum that is further than her terror radius and is directional as well as having a reduced movement speed. Yes, I can see the argument that it's because her hatches do damage but with broken hitboxes and the fact the Clown can slow people now for 2 whole seconds to get a hit, has a instant down add-on just like the Huntress, and has a AOE power. I'd for one like to see her at least get normal movement speed and fixed hitboxes if anything.

Ok I'll reply to each individual point you have....

Clown has normal movement speed and no directional notification unlike Huntress and you know it damages but hitboxes are broken:
Yes the clown does have normal movement speed and yes he can stun for 2 whole seconds but his arc is horrible and it moves extremely slowly yes you can slow down a survivor but any smart survivor will just run through it and drop the pallet assuming you're talking about around pallet loops if not then it can usually be dodged easily due to the slow movement speed. Huntress is slower because she can down extremely fast and down people at low loops she doesn't need 115% move speed. As for broken hitboxes most of them are fixed in PTB such as truck hitboxes, haddonfield table, etc. Yes you can occasionally have one go through someone but that's pretty rare. Now the fact that she does damage on hit is why she doesn't need a buff she can stop low pallet loops, if the survivor is in the open she can throw a hatchet from close range then immediately melee them down which is extremely strong for slugging AKA the strongest thing a killer can actually do. As for the directional notification it's to help stop long range snipes but I do some what agree it doesn't need to be a thing on this one so you get that point.

Clown has instant down just like Huntress:
Yes he has instant down but the problem is it needs to be a DIRECT hit meaning the bottle needs to hit the survivor not the gas which is pretty much impossible because of the movement speed of the bottle unless the survivor is bad BUT at point blank range you can obviously do it but that's assuming you have enough time to hit afterwards before they get to a window/pallet AND the Huntress at that range can do a close range hatchet into a melee anyway.

Clown has AOE but Huntress doesn't:
Yes he has AOE but that's because he doesn't DAMAGE the survivor it's only a 15% slow down for 2 seconds which means they can easily run through the smoke and still throw down a pallet. The Huntress also can hit survivors without it directly hitting them it just needs to be close. As for fixing hitboxes well yeah that's a fix not a buff which I agree with.

  • @sorrowen said:
As a killer main without ruin survivors can get 1-2 gens done so fast you can't do anything. Maybe gen times are the issue? I just think survivor is too easy right now as all they do is rush gens and get out. Plus some killers don't like running ruin because it can be destroyed(totems should hurt survivors or curse them with the hex they destroyed) I don't like running ruin but I might have to because games are too short. But I regard survivor as easy mode :( i'd play survivor if it was a challenge and not gen popping easy. Maybe make doing gens a multi phase process instead of sitting there doing them when the killer is basically right beside them? because survivors are arrogant enough right now they are doing gens in your face pretty much. Maybe buff overcharge for 10/15/25% regression? sorry for the rage games are done too quickly :(

Yeah survivor is easy but at the same time you're saying without ruin even on Billy you're getting gen rushed but if you slug correctly you can 4k without ruin just need to practice it. But yeah then only Nurse and Huntress are the other viable killers besides that all other killers are obsolete which isn't how the game should be.

  • Ok let me get it straight here are the killers it completely in every single way counters and by counters I mean it gives them time to get to a pallet from the middle of no where OR completely negates their ability but not necessarily both.

Hillbilly: Simply run to the safety of pallets AND it causes his chainsaw to get a false hit
Trapper: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Wraith: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Myers: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Hag: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Leatherface: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Doctor: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Freddy: Simply run to the safety of pallets
Pig: Simply run to the safety of pallets AND completely counters her stealth as soon as you hear the sound you can simply outrun to a pallet once again
Only 2 killers that aren't COMPLETELY countered are:
Nurse: She can walk up to survivor and force them to activate it then blink to them and hit
Huntress: Can potentially hit a sprint bursting survivor with a hatchet but it's extremely hard

Now basically lets breakdown basically what this perk is and why it is stupid strong it is even stronger than DS. It lets you run at 150% of your base movement speed for 3 seconds and gives you EASILY enough time to get to a pallet but wait.... it can be used infinitely essentially it's a 40 second cool down between each use though but we have DS which gets you off the killers shoulder and lets you get to pallets but wait..... it's a one time use. Get the point? Sprint Burst is an infinite get out of jail free card which should never be a thing people may complain about DS but I don't really care about it that much definitely not compared to Sprint Burst.
