I am in this forum daily and countless posts start with "I play both..." followed by a very one sided opinion. Usually in the vein that fits their avatar. From someone who often gives 1 sided opinions. It's not slick. I play both too, but I'm not kidding myself that I'm not a survivor main and my opinions are positioned as such. And the vast majority of ppl have a preference in the same way. But nice try. 👍
Your mistake is in assuming you can't play both sides and hold the opinion that one has bigger issues than the other.
Back at release, survivors were able to permanently break every hook on a map, except for the basement. Killers were able to equip a combination of perks that made it almost impossible to wiggle free, but couldn't guarantee a hook if there were only basement hooks left. Which do you think was the bigger problem, the fact that survivors could deny killers all the hooks, or that killers had increased carry distance? Personally, I think the former was the biggest problem. Was I biased because I recognized that the power role being denied their primary method of defeating the numbers role was not in the spirit of an asymmetrical game?
Just because the opinion is one sided doesn't mean it's biased. Often, there are just bigger problems on one side. False equivalence is a fallacy.

And killers do? Call me when camping/tunneling isn't the go-to play style for the majority of killers. So skilled. 🙄
As an above-average survivor at best, I can assure you that killers at rank 1 (or close) have more skill than their survivor counterparts. I pip basically every trial as a survivor, without even doing much.
-
Remind me never to play with you. You're bad luck.

Running into the killer at the start of the trial. Literally running into, as in I'm running to go find a gen and I don't realize that the killer is in the direction I'm running toward.

Okay, to be fair, if a ghost face is relying on using his power to one shot down people, he's kind of bad. Once a survivor spots you and breaks you out of it, you have no way of stealthing a chase.
A killer using their power to end chases in one hit (more efficient) is worse than a killer using their power to end chases in two hits (less efficient)? Are you being sarcastic?

By their behaviour.
eg. Not coming back after an unhook, how dedicated they are in chases. If it’s someone like Hillbilly then usually the usage of their ability and such.
this is on top of the fact that you can predict a big majority of perks, eg. Nurse’s, hexes, BBQ, POP..
behaviour patterns are more important than people think, and some underestimate that.
Isn't "not coming back after an unhook" just typical killer stuff? Y'know, disable two survivors for a short period of time while chasing a third, leaving only one at the gens?
-
Camping usually works if they're too focused on trying to unhook. If two survivors are trying to unhook a third, that leaves 1 survivor who's actually working on the generators.
However, if they play 100% efficiently and have every second-chance perk, there's nothing you can do. Might as well face a corner (to deny them flashlight blinds, because they will definitely try to get them) and make yourself a sandwich for 5-10 minutes.

I’ve learned to not have expectations for anything in this game. I mostly make guesses on the way that one plays in the match. Killers running NOED usually aren’t too bothered about hooked survivors/not being able to get survivors on hook.
it’s funny, I can usually tell if someone is playing with NOED and now whenever I play with my friends, I’ve instilled a fear into them when I call out that I think the killer has NOED, and it makes them run to get rid of all totems lol. We usually do totems anyway but yeah
And how can you tell how bothered a killer is?
-
As a survivor, my escape is the only thing I care about. If I escape, I won. If I didn't, I lost.
As a killer, 0-1 kills is a loss, 2 is a tie, 3-4 is a win.
So I see it as a draw for the killer, a win for the survivors who escaped, and a loss for the ones who died.

In my last 10 games, I ran into three rank 1s that ran NOED even when playing instant knockdown killers lol.. people like easy and cheap tactics, and the devs aren’t doing anything to stop it
Not rank 1, but I use NOED with the Hillbilly because survivors don't expect it. I like to keep 'em guessing. IMO, it makes for a more fun game when you don't automatically know everything your opponent has and will use. This doesn't apply to just DbD, but PvP games in general.

There's nothing wrong with "relying" on certain perks.

Okay, I'll agree with you there.
At high ranks I don't respect it either.
There should be a Rank Limit to what perks you can use...BUT, then killers will start demanding the same for BT and DS.
So...eh?
What's good for the goose...

I didn't mention that because that excuse has been used in every single argument ever. That's like telling killers to pressure gens better instead of actually doing anything productive to help them with it.
Do Bones, Pressure Gens, Matchmaking is working as intended it's just broken wait for the MMR system, etc. There's so many arguments over stupid things to protect your debate or argument without ever wondering what is actually wrong that enough people want it changed.
Yet in your infinite wisdom decide to point out that survivors have plenty of second chance perks, but they should do bones when neither of those were brought up for anything I stated. Is that even a solution to the perks actual problems? No it's just a incredibly lazy answer which provides no actual information outside a genric response. Pretty sure your also the person who says DS should be changed yet wont provide details on how to change it.
Btw I hate how both NoeD and DS are designed. Yet with a few simple tweak would actually be reasonable.
NOED is fine as is. Originally, it lasted forever and couldn't be disabled. Then they shortened the duration to 2 minutes. Now it's a hex perk.
The difference between "pressure gens" and "break the totems" is that "break the totems" is a clearly defined action with only one way to do it that works on every single map: break the totems. "Pressure gens" has a multitude of ways to go about it, making the term ultimately meaningless without more specificity.

Damn you play for kills? And here I thought it was about the friends we made along the way.
But in all seriousness, you can't expect people to not get pissy when you let them die slowly on the ground, acting like you're doing them a favor. You can play however you want, I would just ask you try to really think about how your gameplay could hinder others' experience cuz not every survivor sees himself and his last teammate downed and says, "Oh brother, I just want to end the match already." Especially ones who clearly don't wanna let you hook them and are right next to hatch *alongside* his teammate.
The hatch wasn't happening, that was a given. If I wanted either of them to get the hatch, I wouldn't have tried to hook them. If he didn't want to be hooked, the only other mode of death was bleeding out. Not my favorite, by far, but those were the options.

Let's pretend for a moment rank actually means anything. Well I guess killer rank is significantly more difficult to obtain over any rank of survivor. That seriously does need to be addressed one day.
So your saying a semi permanent PWYF at tier 2 with a Devour Hope with 3 stacks will actually teach you anything? I find that incredibly hard to believe. If anything relying on that actually is worse because it does not teach you anything, but it does give some hope of a false superiority complex with X Killer beating X Survivors. It requires no skill to be 4% faster with a exposed status for a cheap hit. Worse part is usually the innocent person is the victim. The person who wasn't seen all game or possibly the David who looped you for 5 gens.
This is in fact a hindering effect on new players by giving them a quick bandaid solution to bad gameplay and poor management skills of there own lack of experience on both sides. To me NoeD is the equivalent of watching a Survivor in the corner of the map Self Care while you are on hook.
Is it doing something? Yes
Is it Productive? Not Really, but Sometimes it is.
Is it Helping? No
Running NoeD will actually imho make you a worse killer.
I think the perk would be balanced just by removing the Movement Speed Buff. People want it completely changed or removed, but I do think with the movement speed buff removed a lot of the issues surrounding NoeD will be gone.
The same can be said of survivors' second chance perks, and they have a lot more of them.
If you don't like NOED, you can break the totems. It's not complicated. The perk is one of the few whose activation can be prevented outright, and the payoff to having it activate must be proportional to that risk.
-
Some people are just #########.
@NotDBD said:
Some people do get enjoyment out of that. Usually if that happens to me, I will just alt-tab the game, or go have a coffee. There is no point in giving them the satisfaction. If they want to play their game alone, go for it 😀
This is the correct response. Go make yourself a sandwich, take a bathroom break, text your friends, whatever. Just don't bother trying to survive, because you have zero chance of doing so and it just feeds their ego.
-
Alright, it was the activation issue. Never occurred to me that it worked like that.

I don't get how them being down in a hook dead zone means they're pretty much dead. If anything, they still have a chance due to the fact you can't make it to a hook. I also don't get how you not being able to get to a hook would drive them to just allow you to bring them to a hook. They saw a chance and they tried to take it. You, however, just decided they didn't have a chance and in the process denied them the chance to at least get some more points but at most get through the hatch that they found and (I can't claim to know what they were doing but I presume) went down near so that one could get the hatch.
Letting somebody bleed out is at worst an accident due to not being able to find them on the ground and at best a fun punishment for those cute lil toxic survivors that wanted to be cheeky. I really don't see many other reasons to let people bleed out and this doesn't seem like one.
Then again you do you man.
They were dead because no killer who's actually playing for kills is just gonna let them go free. They were all down, they were done. No DS, no Unbreakable (besides that one guy who'd already used it anyway), nothing.
I'm not saying they should allow me to carry them to a hook, just that if they wanted to be hooked, then perhaps letting me hook them would be the best option. They didn't want to bleed out any more than I wanted to let them bleed out, but they chose that option by not letting me carry them to hooks.
To put this in a simple analogy, say you wanted cookies. Your parents want to give you cookies. You do everything in your power to stop them from giving you cookies. Is it your parents' fault that you didn't get cookies?

I don't complain, but the fact is that if a killer is chasing you and they're as good as or better than you, there's not much you can do about it. You can stall them, sure, but you can't stall forever. Eventually, if the killer doesn't give up, you will go down. This is by design and is fair, IMO. After all, the game is a 4v1.
I'm also not the best looper, nor do I like looping, so there's that. I'm much better at dodging hatchets and juking Nurses than I am at looping.

Fun fact: You can say something that's not true without intentionally lying. It's called "being wrong", and it happens to everyone.

I avoid giving killers any excuse to focus on me. I don't bring in items, don't use the stale meta perks, dress in normal clothes (not too bright or too dark), don't teabag, etc..

Well, im a crappy killer main so i dont know if my opinion matters much but, from what I read? The survivors put themselves in an unwinnable situation but wanted the escape because it was "earned" by you not having any hooks, the flame was hilarious and I hope you keep playin the way you wanna play👍
To be fair, only most of the situation was their fault. They obviously weren't responsible for the gate spawns, but they were responsible for not breaking the totems and letting me have both NOED and DH.
-
@MadLordJack said:
Forcing survivors to bleed out is never okay... Unless you cannot hook them. Or they were being genuinely toxic shitheads after you were extremely nice to them, I'd also accept that reason.
I once had a match with a David that reported me (so he claimed) for not letting him escape. He died to EGC because there were no hooks beside the door he kept running to after wriggling out of my grasp. He did it twice and his entire team stayed in the post-game to flame me for being terrible at the game. They genuinely claimed that in that situation I should have let him escape because I couldn't get to a hook. One of their big reasons was so that the game would be over quicker.
They did not like my suggestion that maybe they weren't as good as they thought they were since the lost to Legion on old Ironworks after abusing the absolute shite out if the window and triggering all 4 DS's, the 2 possible Adrenalines (others were sacrificed) and 3 Unbreakables. And they REALLY didn't like it when I suggested that maybe David shouldn't have wriggled. Apparently I was an "entitled killer main".
If you were to read the story (or even the TL;DR version), you'd see I mention I couldn't hook them. I don't like to slug, takes too long and is boring.

Your mistake is in assuming I care about NOED. I don't. It's a perk like any other. I break the totems when I find them while I'm out repairing generators, unhooking, or healing. If everyone did the same, NOED wouldn't be a problem any more.

if you play in an unkind way and the other side responds unkindly, can you blame them? I don't think any of the 'rules' are mandatory, but if you're bothered when people have a reaction following them does help. i'm sure there are plenty of people on both sides who enjoy when the opposing team is mad by the end, but that's not me. I want everyone to have fun if I can help it.
It's PvP, not PvE. If you want to play a custom game, that's what KYF is for. So yes, I can absolutely blame them for tossing insults or worse (######### threats, death threats, and so on) in the chat like they're owed anything from the people they're playing against.

Arguably the survivor who gave you positive reinforcement is more worth mentioning than the rest. Just saying.
I think anything that makes this supposed horror game actually feel like a horror game is welcome.
-
I basically only have one (self-imposed) rule: don't be an #########. That means not going intentionally out of my way to make someone else miserable, also known as being toxic. I don't: teabag, flashlight spam, taunt, hit survivors on the hook, let survivors bleed out (if I can avoid it), and so on.
However, outside that, I will do anything and everything (except cheating and exploiting) to win (or get as close to it as possible). If I have to leave someone to die, I will. If I have to camp, I will. No amount of made-up rules or attempted shaming will change that.
If everyone were to follow this simple rule and learn to accept the losses, the game would be a better place.

Too bad you can't find offerings in chests thouhgt right ? Oh wait we forgot the Mori is an offering ? Imagine Surviviors having an offering that blocks the basement for example. That'd be cool !
Why are keys and Moris not comparable, based on their effects?
EDIT: Hell, if anything, that just makes it worse, since survivors can literally find an item that can guarantee at least one escape through pure RNG while the killer can do nothing about it. There's no warning, no way to prevent it. At least Moris "show up" at the start (as secret offerings, but still, it's almost always a Mori of some kind), so survivors can play around that.
