Besides pathological liars, people lie for at least one reason: they think it will benefit them in some way.

everyone has their own opinion but i don't think there's anything wrong with keys or mori's, they're the only thing that still make the game decently exciting after a while, getting to both mori or be mori'd is honestly the only ######### refreshing thing in this game that makes you go "FUUUCK" as a survivor in a relatively exciting way depending on the mood, and the same can be said as a killer with hatches.
The thing is, Mori's and Keys are rare, which is what makes them exciting. Honestly i don't understand why people sook over them, it rarely happens and when it does, it adds an element of 'oh damn' to both sides. Anyone who is that triggered by it shouldn't even be playing the game because of the buggy ######### mess DBD is in the first place.
The issue with keys is that you can get one by searching crates.
Imagine if killers could randomly get a Memento Mori mid-trial. Would that be fair in any way?

Its been a pretty early change, so im not too sure myself anymore. But the eye position change enabled surcivors to become invisible right under your nose
.
That's right, now you can't even look directly down any more, the camera won't allow it. Before you could stare at your feet, for example.

Was the FOV changed? I've never noticed.
A very long time ago they either nerfed base FOV or Shadowborn (or both, I'm not sure as it was quite some time ago) because some killers were glitching their camera into lockers to look into them without having to search. Rather than simply make the inside of the lockers pitch black until opened, the developers figured that would be a better solution.
-
You're wrong, it's Maya the Bee.

I can only agree with 2. 1 would just kill Moris (seriously, what's even the point of using them if you can only use them when survivors are already dead?) and 3 would make an achievement impossible to get.

Fair enough. That certainly has been the case in the past. I'm pretty sure that's one of the main reasons that they adopted a policy of not talking about anything that's in development until it's far enough along that they're certain it's not going to get scrapped, because of the feelings of disappointment and betrayal that that sort of thing instilled in a lot of players.
Also fair enough.

I'd have to see what was said in order to comment on it properly, but unless they gave a timeframe for the feature's expected release I wouldn't call that going back on their word. I won't deny that they've made a lot of mistakes in the past, I just don't think they're the scheming liars that many players make them out to be, and in this particular case I've yet to see any real reason to believe that they're lying about what they're working on beyond "I just feel like they might be".
To be clear, I don't think they're scheming liars either (that's just silly), but they have promised plenty of stuff that never came to be. That one is the one that stuck to my memory because I wrote an extremely detailed killer suggestion that hinged on that being implemented.

I consider 0-1 kills to be a loss, 2 to be a tie, and 3-4 to be a win. I got 4. You do the math.

I can recall very few, if any, times when the developers promised something and then went back on their word. I can recall quite a few times when players projected certain expectations onto the devs and were later disappointed, but that's another matter entirely. The devs gain literally nothing in the long term by telling us that they're developing something that they're not. Even if players can't see the ranks, bad matchmaking will be evident to any player with basic observational skills. It will still be unfun, and if games aren't fun, people stop playing them, so it's in the devs' best interests to fix a problem like that, and they know it. They may make mistakes, but they're not stupid - they wouldn't be this successful if they were. So there may be an emotional basis for believing something like that, but it holds very little water from a purely rational standpoint.
To answer your question, the current ranking system is not a good estimate of player skill. Two players who are both rank 3 could very easily have wildly different skill levels. The MMR system aims to change that, such that players who share the same, or similar, MMR will be of around the same skill level. This is a separate issue to that of matchmaking, it's just about the relationship between rank and skill.
At that point, in an ideal world, people would only be matched with others of the same MMR, and that way all matches would be equally balanced. However, realistically, that won't always be possible because it will depend a lot on player availability - one doesn't want to exclude players from matches altogether just because there is no one with the same MMR queuing at the same time as them. Therefore, there will be times when people are necessarily matched with players of different skill levels. It's not ideal, but it's better than excluding them from matches altogether. Naturally, they'll be trying to minimise such instances, but in cases where that kind of unbalanced matchmaking is necessary to allow people to play the game at all, the system is designed such that the outcome of such matches will impact justly on the players' MMRs, unlike the current system where you can depip just because you happened to get matched with a far more skilled opponent.
I recall them promising a highlight for when you were teleporting as the Hag and had multiple traps to choose from that were close to each other.
...Still waiting on that one.

As a rank 3 Survivor I agree that you are a noob with perks that dont need any skill whatsoever. This game gotten unfair and you whining here is the pinnacle. You should try survivor and tell me this game isnt unfair. Every patch is nerfing survivor. Endgame makes it impossible to get out solo what shouldnt be the case. If you disagree you should go see a doctor or mental institution.

ah alright :) wasnt sure about the "basement part"
They need to add a hook down there if the basement is in shack. It's a long way to carry and surv can body block the only path, forcing you to swing/injure them at the door/stairs.
Worse, it was in that underground area full of steam. It's a maze in there.
-
@Fiv55 said:
maybe you should add to the context which map you played. I think its temple of purgation, bc of the underground complex with no basement? Dunno if thats a guaranteed 2 hook spawn down there now, but few updates back it was awful. If someone died on the hook down there (+ basement in shack), you could not carry a survivor to a nearby hook. Didnt really noticed yet, but last 2 times there were at least 2 hooks down there (with no basement).
Well if they clearly lost and still wiggle, its their own fault. I'd rather not wiggle and get into my next game, than being on the ground for the next minute or 2.
It was Springwood. However, this wasn't an underground complex, just a regular "basement" (not the basement, just a normal one that houses sometimes have; I didn't want to call it that so people wouldn't be confused).
-
Putting aside the fact that too many people don't understand how Spine Chill and Whispers work, I don't think such a perk would be useful outside very specific circumstances (if the radius was tight enough).
Survivors tend to move around while looking at the killer if they want to be stealthy, or if they're being chased. At loops with tall walls you might figure out if they're confused and don't know where you're coming from, giving you an advantage, but I think that's about it. Maybe you'd get something out of it with stealth killers.

Sorry but that sounds a lot like complaining that they didn’t give you free hooks and so you let them bleed out because they were not playing the way you wanted them to.
Wiggling is a normal mechanic that gives BP in survival (which is otherwise pretty much 0 if you don’t escape), and even though underground and one hook taken - hooks are normally everywhere and next to eachother. Also you can down them again after wiggling free.
I let them bleed out because it was the only way I had to kill them, are you even reading? They didn't want to be slugged, I didn't want to slug them. However, only one of those groups was willing to do something about it (namely me, by trying to hook them). The other group actively tried to prevent me from accomplishing what we all wanted - no slugging.
-
@Mooks said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1273761#Comment_1273761
Wiggling out and then get the hatch would be possible. And they managed to get downed somewhere where there was no hook nearby (I have yet to see such a position in a match tbh) for this possibility.
again - what you did was in no way against any game rules. But I can just imagine after such a game (3 alive after 5 gens) and then 2 are just left on the ground to bleed out while the killer stands there just to prevent a possible hatch escape. Of course there will be salt, no surprise. And how would he know that there is no hook nearby? Again - you were blessed with this setup!
Enitus is just the German word for Entity - sorry for the mixup.
There was no hook nearby because I'd hooked a survivor on the nearest hook (as mentioned, I don't like to slug, so once I had them all down I started hooking immediately) and the nearest hook after that was too far away given that we were underground.
I wouldn't have left them on the ground if they'd just let me hook them. You're right, they couldn't have known there was no hook nearby, but if they didn't want to bleed out, they shouldn't have tried to wiggle free when I tried to prevent that. At some point, my hands are tied.
-
@Clevite said:
Okay so a No Ones Even Dead yet killer decided he needed to slug to avoid allowing one person to escape, who also has an insta down?
Hey up to to go how you play, bro. But don't see why you come to the forums to complain that people didn't enjoy your play style.
Play some survivor and you will see why It wasn't well received.
I'm not complaining about anything. I found the complaint funny.
And I do play survivor. A lot more than I play killer, in fact, and always SWF.
-
@Mooks said:
Okay. So they should not wiggle (which gives points btw) and not try to take a chance to actually survive (their main objective) because...? What should they have done in this game? You describe it as pretty much hopeless for any of them once gens were done. They managed to pretty much do the only thing giving them any chance to survive (maybe wiggling our while you carry them to the hook) in this situation and you denied that with the skillful letting them bleed out.. which is okay, do what you want but it’s not your main objective (sacrifice to the entitus is) and don’t wonder when you don’t get praised for this kinda scummy strat..
what did you expect? That they run to you, let you down them and then bring them to a free hook of your choice?
Be happy that you got this super lucky setup with gates, totem and hatch and you got survivors that did not DC to give another a hatch.. and move on.
There was no chance for survival. They were either gonna bleed out or being sacrificed to the Entity (not sure what "entitus" is, I'm guessing it's a typo of some kind). My point is that the last guy was blaming me for not letting him have the hatch and for letting him bleed out, even though he wouldn't let me hook him and is not owed the hatch.

To be honest I couldn’t really do anything to stop the killer 🤷♂️. The person clearly had it out for me I’m pretty sure do to how better I’ve gotten at practicing with looping. I’m not trying to start world war 3 here I mean I’m pretty sure I’m not the only person who this happens to🤷♂️. I mean how would you feel if it were you and the killer was only going for you? The way I’ve seen it is they usually take it out a specific person for who knows what reason we don’t know why but they just do it. And sometimes it’s because they try to get a survivor out cause the killer doesn’t like competition with a fast survivor. And so then they go for you first then the weak ones after.
I have had killers go for me and me alone, usually Nurses because I know how to juke 'em (it's easier now since she's bugged). They usually give up around gen #2. If they don't and they get me, I tell my SWF teammate to open the gate and rescue only if the killer doesn't have NOED. If the killer has NOED and the totem can't be located, he leaves and I take the L (assuming some other survivor didn't decide to unhook me despite the killer having NOED, in which case we leave that survivor to their fate).
I practice what I preach, despite claims to the contrary.

Loop maybe tryhard to you. But to myself and others looping isn’t considered a tryhard. it comes down to knowing how to evade the killer by practicing during chases . there is a reason why they are there for us to use.
Of course, but you wanted to loop him around for so long that every gen got repaired and then all the survivors would get out alive. He wanted one kill. Either both of you are tryhards (in which case you're the bigger tryhard), or neither are.

Basically yes and just FYI I play both killer and survivor. I’ve seen it both ways a survivors way is very debatable depending who you ask. Example some flashlight spam another is a killer targeting specific characters either because they don’t like you for who knows what reason. Or if you looped them for most of the game but then eventually are caught. And they hook camp and hit you multiple times.
I also play both killer and survivor (currently more survivor - SWF, even), and if he was a tryhard for wanting one kill, you were a bigger tryhard for looping him half the game.
-

I don't like the way this is worded. You make it sound like he shouldn't have attempted wiggling free just to give you a hook. It kinda makes you sound entitled as well.
I'm saying that if he wanted to be hooked, he should've actually let me hook him. He was going to die either way, the method was his choice and his alone. However, he apparently thought that because I couldn't hook him or his teammate, I shouldn't have let them bleed out either, and should've just let him have the hatch, because reasons.

To be honest I think the killer had it out for me mostly cause during half of the game he couldn’t catch me until my hands got tiered of looping him. So his way of saying your going to die was him hook camping me.
So you weren't a tryhard for looping the killer during half the game, but the killer is a tryhard for trying to get one kill?

Agreed, but at that point, if you h ad any sort of punishment for some reason, your RL emergency would either take longer than the punishment, or you'd probably shrug it off because RL was more important, right?
The people who whine about DC punishments are the ones actually disconnecting because they got tilted; the exact people the punishment was made to punish.
Oh, trust me, I know. Sometimes it's fun to pretend that's not the case, though.
-
Sometimes there are legitimate reasons for DCing. If I get a call saying, for example, that a close friend needs a ride to the hospital, I'm DCing and driving him to the hospital. Screw everyone else, it's just a game.

I have had a ton of beautiful hate mail thrown my way and laugh every time. My most favorites are audio messages since I can really hear their frustration. My way of getting back at people is just playing it off nicely since they want your reaction or explaining what they are complaining about is not what happened. This has always helped a ton since it gets them to have an even bigger reaction by saying things that get messages removed and banned for a bit so my favorites are removed. My all time favorite was where I was going to be reported by a team of full red ranks because I was “hacking” to hit their items out of their hand. They did not want to listen about reading the perks I had (franklin’s demise) and proceeded to tell me I should off myself with various instruments and weird and worse other things were stated so EZ report. The one I’m about to show is one where it was rank reset and the penalty for camping was put in by way of subtracting points. Played Myers on redwood forest hooked the dude in basement went on my way and hooked someone else. I see the three of them all healing in basement (I hit them previously) but since they were all there I don’t have anywhere else to go. Went there stalked and hit 2 down with 1 as slug but let one go to save so the game could keep going. Nope he didn’t save her he let the person die on hook and waited around basement where I could hear him so hooked the dude came up and found him just at the corner so that’s where I just decided to end it.

I started telling them something along the lines of "Let's be adults here. You know as well as I do that [insert survivor(s) here] was/were around the hook. I can literally see in my score that there's no penalty, meaning you were all nearby. Why pretend otherwise?"
Shuts them up immediately.

Just match frequent DCers with other frequent DCers (keep the current penalties, though). The problem will be isolated and sort itself out.

Anyways, it wouldn't hurt to give survivors a few seconds for hitting greats. C'mon, it's not going to be the end of the world if survivors can potentially stay on the hook for a few more seconds. 🙂

I didn't think it needed to be explained why giving survivors the ability to extend their time on the hook is a bad idea, especially with no way to just give up, but @Entity_Hugs already did it for me.
-
Human nature. It was found that, on average, the safer we feel, the more recklessly we behave. The best way to keep someone safe (or make sure they don't behave recklessly) is therefore to make them feel unsafe, while keeping them safe.
This is one of the reasons why I believe that if you were to remove some of the survivors' safety nets, their survival rates would actually increase as a result (or at least stay the same), because they'd be less reckless.
-

Personally, I want skill checks to replace the Struggle Mechanic since it gives you the feeling of needing to do something to stay alive while not wearing down your keyboard / controller.
Don't worry, failing the skill check won't kill you. It will be something like this:
Great: +5 Seconds
Good: +2.5 Seconds
Failed: +0 Seconds
You will receive a skill check every 10 seconds during the Struggle Phrase.
That sounds like a terrible idea. Just let it be automatic with a button to give up.
-
Two taps per second. That's all it takes. I usually go for twice that (so four taps a second) just to be on the safe side, but I have done it slightly above two taps per second and it went well.
EDIT: To be clear, I agree with the suggestion. I'm just providing more information to (hopefully) help those who are struggling with this (no pun intended)

There isn't alot of tips with him unfortunately, atleast from my perspective. What you kind of do,is just play him. When I first started playing him I was getting wrecked all the time, but after some time I kind of figured him out.
You can only experiment with him in public games,by going for shots constantly and really just testing/trying him. What I mean by that is going for all kinds of shots fr e.g so you can tell what you can/can't get.
1 Really good tip tho,if you see a survivor trying to juke the whole time, just don't shoot. They'll lose all the distance and you'll be able to m1 them most of the time(U'll condition them to that, then they'll stop juking and you will be able to go for a better/more accurate shot cause they won't juke as much).
When a survivor doesn't look behind themselves for a sec is a good time to take a shot aswell. Yeah,I'd just say play him,go for greedy shots and u'll learn with time :F
PS: Whenever you are playing a short loop(as in height, not length),GO FOR SHOTS. I see alot of slingers not going for shots around trucks/(autohaven loops fr e.g) even though you can get survivors very easily there(you can get them even when the pallet is dropped).
But what's the point of pulling a survivor across an obstacle like a pallet or a truck? It's not like you can hit them.

Yeah if you’re camped on it should safety pip. That’s unfair to the survivor. Why are There so many people defending face camping to the tee 😂 it’s nuts. For 1) how is that fun for you? You’re worried about 1 kill? Really? It works a lot better when you down and hook multiple people. You’re not going to do that just standing there. If you’re aware someone’s nearby why are you standing there doing nothing 😂 why is that 1 hook so important to defend? I don’t understand this mindset. Nor the disposition that these people don’t deserve harsher losses in BOTH bloodpoints and EMBLEMS. Not just emblems. A lot of people don’t care about emblems. I’ve noticed that a lot. Even for high ranks. People are content with purple and it affects red rank survivors. Besides there no reward system for rank so DONT tell me emblem penalties are sufficient. They’re not. It’s just deflating.
One hooked survivor+3 survivors nearby=Completely halt generator progression for 2 minutes for the price of a single chase and get a kill at the end of those 2 minutes.
It's not rocket science. Camping only works when survivors make it work.
