But don't emblems give BP? I kind of skip through that to see what perks and items everyone had, out of curiosity.
Nope. Two separate metrics.

I can literally see that their BP goes up with rank.

Exactly. Like I said DO whatever you want as killer. But there’s not enough reason to discourage this type of behavior. The current points lost, whatever system they have in place for it isn’t enough. Hell, why in my picture that I uploaded does the killer have 27K BP with only 2 kills that he camped on the whole match?
Because he didn't camp the whole match. It's not possible to get 27k by camping, unless the survivors fed him. And if they fed him, that's on them (you).

Look, I came in to agree with the post that harsher penalties need to be installed. That’s it. You can do whatever you want as killer. But if I see you’re getting rewarded more than me at the end of the match, especially if I’ve done a good share of the work on the survivor end of things, that’s an issue imo.
How does getting caught help the survivors in any way? Please explain.

well don’t just stand there 😂 look all I’m saying is, within a certain proximity of a hooked survivor harsher penalties should be inflicted upon the killer post match. Not only emblems but bloodpoints. If you just stand there and do nothing even though you blatantly see another survivor, well then chase them! Is it that serious you feel the need to ensure the hooked guy stays there? You have another target right in front of you 🤣 look I don’t care. All I’m saying is harsher penalties please :) I’m not getting any points sitting here on a hook with you nearby and my experience is getting affected so therefore yours should too. It’s only fair.
Well, you failed at stealth and lost the chase. The killer won at searching and won the chase. Your teammates aren't doing anything, so the smart play is to just wait until you die and then move on. You're not going to get killers to be stupid just by demanding that they suffer for your lack of skill.

oof, except, not other survivors either, because the unskilled killer who is somehow magically still in red/purple ranks despite not making the game fun for anyone is making sure of that.
Either put infinite loops on everything, or penalize face camping far more harsh. I shouldn't be in red ranks getting matched with people who belong to rank 20.
I'll be sure to pass your ultimatum on to the devs.

what?! “Entitled survivor mindset”? 😂😂 is that all anyone can ever say? No I play killer too. But I don’t stand near a hook nor does demanding harsher penalties for it make me “entitled” in any fashion. It’s not about playing the way I don’t like, it’s about playing the way the game is MEANT to be played. It’s not meant to be played standing next to a hooked survivor. Has nothing to do with me being “entitled” to anything. Killers are ez to play. It sounds like you’re really bad at playing them though. There are so many crutches and ways to slow gen speed and kick survivors out of the game really fast like using an ebony Mori that it really blows me away after all the nerfs and map size shrinks through various updates you people still complain about Being the poor ole killer. Aweeee.
If it weren't intended, it would've been removed, just like infinite loops.
Way too many people in this thread think their opinions on what's "valid gameplay" or "how the game is meant to be played" matter more than those of the guys who literally make the game and decide which mechanics to include.
-
@IWasThereOnce said:

You're right, they're not the same. A person being camped has literally no options, while the killer being looped can either go find a different killer and leave them alone, or stay there until they move, or get killed by the entity for not finding hatch or a door and looping past time time.
Absolutely not comparable.
The person being camped isn't supposed to have any options. They're on the hook, they're at the mercy of the killer and other survivors. It'd be like that even if they weren't being camped.
-

meanwhile this game becomes less and less interesting. Last I checked video games were meant for fun. This game isn’t fun a lot of the time. If I’m going to suffer I want to know that my opponent is suffering too because he’s not doing his job which is preventing survivors from escaping. You’re not doing that by standing next to a hook :)
If the game isn't fun, you can stop playing. Nobody's forcing you to stick around.

There are gens to protect so yes the killer should get punished. It sounds like You’re defending the killers right to face camp by coming up with excuses such as survivors nearby 😂 I don’t think the penalty for camping is strong enough. I’ve literally had killers tell me at the end of the match “at least I got points”.... and yet these are red and purple rank killers.... how are they even still red and purple? Like I said, the system doesn’t penalize them enough to discourage it.
Gens to protect from whom? Your teammates were right there, is the killer supposed to pretend he doesn't see them?

The game is literally designed that the killer will always eventually down the survivor, no matter what. That you would suggest eventually succumbing to such mechanics is failure or losing is questionable.
That someone can run the killer for 10 minutes to then depip/gain very few points to put into various characters because they then got facecamped is incredibly unfair. If we aren't going to actually penalise the scummy player then the person having their ability to play/earn anything from that particular game needs to be compensated, plain and simple.
The survivor can also win the chase by learning to play stealthily instead of looping. Of course, that takes more skill than just memorizing loops...

Except the fact that people playing the game and continue to play the game are allowed to give constructive criticism, which is what I'm doing. I don't want to hear a single tear from bullshit killers who cry about looping and agree that face-camping is "legitimate".
They can make the games all they want, but if it fails, it fails, and it was time and money and energy wasted. Especially, especially when their players pointed out the hypocrisy time and time again.
They wanna make a fair game? You can't have an entity blocker while validating face-to-face camping.
Can anyone say "non-sequitur"?
Infinite loops and camping are not comparable, at all. The former made it impossible for the killer to catch someone if the survivor just followed certain routes. The latter gives three survivors a free escape, should they take it.

this Borrowed Time doesn’t make it okay Though. You can’t come up with a solution because there currently isn’t one. Borrowed time doesn’t do enough you’ll just get grabbed 😂 this a terrible defense for something that should net the killer negative points at the end of the match instead. You can’t just list a perk for everything. There’s only 4 slots and every time people complain it’s “oh use this perk to counter that, problem solved” no.... it’s not solved. The topic is about DISCOURAGING that type of behavior. Not presenting a solution by listing a perk survivors can use when they already have a million to choose from. Yes BT is great, but quite honestly, I’d rather my teammates do gens if I’m getting face camped. What I don’t want is the killer getting rewarded for that. Because if I lose pip you should too :)
Alright, let's make it so that if anyone loses pips, everyone depips. After all, either both teams win, or no teams do. That's how it works in every PvP game.

Okay, then they need to disable the penalty for survivors vaulting the same window over and over again. :) It's a valid play style. They could always just go to someone else and get all of them down, so there doesn't need to be a penalty for abusing a loop.
Except you don't decide that, the developers do. They make the rules. That's why the Entity blocker was added, because abusing windows is not a valid play style.

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/460/DA2CD234-9E78-46C2-9E3C-2CAFE8A5F7A1.jpeg
Here’s a game ghost face put me in the basement and stood there on the stairs the entire match. Teammates came down and pulled me out but he just put more down there and stood there. It’s unfortunate that this is considered a legit “strategy” and is not being penalized hard enough. the killers emblems might be affected by face camping but what I don’t want to see is the killer getting bloodpoints for it either. Especially when the killer gets more bloodpoints than survivors do when I did a good share of the work on my end up to the point where I was cut off due to getting hook camped.
I said "assuming other survivors aren't nearby". By your own admission, your teammates (plural) were swarming the basement (not just any random surface hook, but the Entity-damned basement), yet you expect the killer to be punished? How does that make any sense whatsoever?
-
@IWasThereOnce said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1271446#Comment_1271446
Is it a valid play style? Because, I mean, I don't face camp and still average 3 or so kills per game, as do any other actually skilled players. The fun of the game is to be chased by killers as a survivor, and the fun of a killer is to chase the survivors. You're literally taking away all that when you're straight up hard face camping-- and not even gaining much yourself.
If we can block survivors from "abusing looping", we can block killers from face-camping.
How does "abusing a window" get a penalty but not walking away from a survivor for a single second not?
Yes, it's a valid play style, recognized by the developers - the guys who literally decide what is and isn't allowed. You may claim killers who camp aren't skilled, but if they win by camping, whose fault is that?
-
@IWasThereOnce said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1271237#Comment_1271237
Sorry, you're totally right, lemme rephrase.
There needs to be a better system that discourages it entirely so people actually stop playing like this. Losing two pips every single game you camp would be ideal,
In that case it's a hard "no". Camping is a valid strategy, according to the developers, and it has clear and effective counters. It's not the killers' fault survivors refuse to use those counters.

The PRD I'm talking about is something I saw in Dota 2.
Instead of Trapper's bear traps being a 25% chance, it would start at ~8.5% then add another ~8.5% for each failure to escape.
This would help stop cases where survivors seem to escape on the first attempt every time, but would also save the people in this thread who said they had to try 20 times (because the chance would continue to increase).
You can put it in as a suggestion, but I doubt the devs will implement it.

Do you know how PvP works?

There is. They lose points in the Chaser emblem (assuming other survivors aren't nearby) and will depip if the other survivors play smart by rushing gens.
Spoiler: They rarely do.

I believe there's a very rare bug that has existed for a while now (6 months, maybe more?) that sometimes a hex totem just doesn't spawn for a hex perk. I remember there being a video somewhere a while back where a killer was looking for his Ruin totem and it just wasn't there.
Or there's a new bug, where NOED can "take over" another hex totem if said hex totem is the only remaining one, which is also pretty possible knowing this game's spaghetti code.
Now I feel like an ######### for reporting that killer.

He could have had rancor for the NoED effect but I'm not sure about anything else. It also seems like your jumping to conclusions about the killer cheating when the game incredibly buggy at times. Monto had infinite ruin once as it simply never spawned on a totem. The same could have happened to this guy with Ruin and NoED.
I've also lied to my friend saying I cleansed multiple totems without touching any so he wouldn't look and had quite the giggle when he got NoED at the end but that's cause we mess with each other so I can't really say if that's a possibility here.
What were the killers perks and do you have a video or screenshots or anything?
My friend wouldn't lie to me and the killer definitely had NOED, we saw it in the score screen. The killer had NOED, Ruin, and some others I can't recall. I didn't record it, no.

Michael Myers is strongly implied to have a mental illness similar to schizophrenia and in my opinion is a cautionary tale of what happens if you treat a mentally ill person in the absolute worst way possible. To quote the Wikipedia article on Michael's character;
"Carpenter's inspiration for the 'evil' that Michael would embody came when he was in college. While on a class trip at a mental institution in Kentucky, Carpenter visited 'the most serious, mentally ill patients'. Among those patients was a young boy around 12 to 13 years old. The boy gave this 'schizophrenic stare', 'a real evil stare', which Carpenter found 'unsettling', 'creepy', and 'completely insane'. Carpenter's experience would inspire the characterization that Loomis would give of Michael to Sheriff Brackett in the original film. Debra Hill has stated the scene where Michael kills a German Shepherd was done to illustrate how he is 'really evil and deadly'."
Michael Myers was a little boy with extreme schizophrenia whose family did nothing to help him. A common symptom of schizophrenia is hearing voices, so it would probably be safe to say that Michael heard voices that told him to kill his sister. And being six years old, at an age where empathy or even an understanding of good and evil is absent, he killed his sister. Doctor Loomis didn't even consider the thought that he was mentally ill and labeled him as pure evil, even as a six year old. To quote Doctor Loomis; "I met this six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes; the devil's eyes [...] I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply...evil." How did Loomis become a licensed psychiatrist with a degree when he doesn't even consider that a six year old boy killed his sister because he was mentally ill.
Michael had no help during his formative years while suffering from an extreme mental illness, so it's obvious that when he broke out he wouldn't know better to not listen to his voices and kill people. He didn't have any guidance. He wasn't taught the concept of morals or alignment or empathy due to Loomis's sheer incompetence. While it's undeniable that the actions he committed were pure evil, I see him as an extremely mentally ill man who wasn't given proper guidance as a child and as a result has no way of dealing with the voices except for listening to them and killing people. The real killer in Halloween wasn't Michael, it was Loomis, who treated Michael so poorly that Michael became a killing machine with no grasp of good and evil.
In conclusion, Loomis is a horrible psychiatrist and Michael killing people could have been prevented if he got a psychiatrist who knew what they were doing. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I mean, sure, if you wanna ignore all the supernatural elements, he probably has a psychiatric condition. By that logic, Freddy's dead and the nightmares and ensuing effects are also the result of some sort of condition.

So the Pig's boxes are not random is what youre saying. bcs its 1 in 4? but it could happen at any one of those boxes, which is random? ye you make a ton of sense.
Have a smaller parameter of 1 in 5 base kit, is still random bcs it could be in any one of those attempts; having a ridiculous amount of attempts over 15 is utterly stupid; in that time that player couldve done most of a gen, cleansed totems and be rewarded with some points. 15 or more attempts to escape a bear trap with zero points awarded is simply wrong. survivors should at least get skill checks to make the measly 50 points or a new feature: 25 points rewarded for a "failed" attempt. similar to how trapper gets awarded for setting traps. again as I said before, there needs to more consistency with those parameters: base kit, add ons, perks and offerings. fewer attempts on a fixed amount still has random probability; so yes rework the trapper add ons. he did get a rework of resetting traps. its a small feature that adds more structure in choices that are made- if someone gets caught in a trap, pending add ons, does the killer drop chase or not? many times Im in chase and someone gets caught in a trap. so I drop the chase to go to the trap and the survivor gets out before I get there. very annoying and a waste of time.
They are random. The key is "placed" in a box at random. Each box has an equal probability of having the key, even though only one will actually have the key. It's the same principle as guessing blindly in a multiple-choice test. Each question has an equal probability of being right, but only one actually is.
The devs want randomness. This is what happens when things are random.
-
One or both of these happening:
-Someone DCing or giving up right at the start.
-The survivors/killer clearly not being at my level (either too weak or too strong relative to me).

Myers. Literally just born pure evil for seemingly no reason. Most other killers have backstories that make them at least somewhat sympathetic.
-
So you don't know the story, but feel like you can judge it anyway, OK...
Here's the TL;DR version of it:
-Born in the 1800s
-Son of a slave
-Became a painter
-Fell in love with a white woman
-Baby out of wedlock
-Town gathered for a lynching
-Town cut off his hand with a rusty saw
-Town covered him in honey
-Bees stung him to death while the town chanted "Candyman"
-Body was set on fire
Now you know. Now you can judge.

EXACTLY!!
Like.. they CHOSE to depict "4" that way. Literally every other clue is a stretch, but this is way too on-the-nose to be coincidental imo. Also, Silent Hill would be the only franchise that would fit the "mysterious" survivor from Paulie's video.
To add to this, The Nurse is inspired by the nurses from Silent Hill. Silent Hill had 8 games in the series and two movies. This would also fit the "change the world of horror" wording in the teaser as well.
Also: The tweet from the BHVR employee that alluded to "bees" and "sweets" is 100% a red herring. There's no way their first "tease" of a new chapter would be from wordplay on a random tweet by a random employee.
Look at the number 4 as it appears on this website. Now compare to the image.
