I agree, hard to make a call. For instance whenever i play killer i usually check the area around the hook before leaving and i get flamed for that
I've heard it being defined as any type of safeguard that might guarantee the killer can return before the survivors have had a chance to unhook (like traps or if you're playing a fast killer). In other words, anything that doesn't give a free unhook. Act surprised.

@SquirrelKnight said:
Also known as "protecting the hook" proxy camping is when the killer does not immediately retreat to the furthest corner of a map after he hooked someone 😋
Edit, explaining beetter: More seriously, proxy camping is basically staying within line of sight from the hook. Often it happens when BBQ doesnt go off on anyone and you know there are survivors nearby
I want the OP's definition because like with everything else survivors accuse killers of doing, I've seen many definitions of the term.

What's "proxy camping"?

Welcome to the great killer drought of 2020.

Translation (Mercenary=Deathslinger)
Mercenary's hitbox
His harpoon's hitbox is ridiculous. The harpoon turns orange showing that it got the person but it didn't. It has horrible controls. If it continues like this I'm going to stop playing. And it's not just him there are some others that also need to be fixed. I hope you fix it soon.
O laranja significa que atravessou um obstáculo e não que atingiu uma pessoa. É difícil de controlar, mas aprende-se.
(English: Orange means it went through an obstacle and not that it hit a person. It's hard to control, but you'll learn.)

Survivors have to complete as many generators as there are survivors left alive, plus one. There is no guarantee that a survivor will escape via hatch.
If a survivor gets hooked once, it is a guarantee they can be mori'd, and usually are.
Keys are not the problem. Keys would be a problem if after the first generator was completed, hatch spawned and everyone could escape. THAT would be a real problem. Keys allow survivors to escape when all other avenues seem impossible.
Killers often tunnel someone with a key anyways. It's always funny bringing in a broken key just to see how a Killer reacts.
The hatch will also spawn and open if there's only one survivor remaining, no matter what.

Take it easy genius, The idea is much simpler than what you think, Its not about taking your toxicity away.
I'm a survivor main who plays SWF. I'm also not toxic. However, the fact is that this was already tried in other games.

Maybe at the beginning, but not for long. Toxic players would override the want to avoid a skilled player.
One problem this game has is a total lack of consequence for craphole behavior. The game almost encourages it. The devs protect toxic behavior with their idiotic nerfs and policies. Face camp the first hook with 5 gens while nodding and repeatedly hitting the survivor is all good. NOED and Blood Warden will ensure you get to do this to 3 or all 4. No consequences. (There are examples of toxic behavior on both sides.)
An avoid list would be great. Maybe, if one player gets hit with enough avoid due to behavior to where it takes an hour for them to get a match, it will sink in to act like a decent human being. Unfortunately, that is not BHVR's concern. They have more cosmetics to push out.
That's not what other games showed, at all. Why do you believe DbD will be any different?

And what? You need to ruin multiplayer for others every 5 min? Maybe then you deserve to be punished, if you cant even leave your pc on for a few minutes. Grow up and begin to plan your time.
And if I want to give my teammate a chance to jump in the hatch before the killer finds him by killing myself on the hook, I should be able to without having to throw away all my hard-earned BP.
PS: I don't DC, ever.

Killers v Surviviors endless war here dosen't interest me, And now i get why you against idea its not about 'good players being punished'.
Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes. Those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it.
This was tried in other games and resulted in what I said: good players were overwhelmingly more likely to be blocked. You can pretend to know my motivation, but this is a fact anyone can look up. Your attempt at dodging the issue isn't fooling anyone.

While this thread isn't specifically about SWF, yes I feel SWF shouldn't even be in the game at all. Unless one of the friends is the killer as well.
That makes no sense, how would that solve the issue with SWF?

I can't stand playing Nurse anymore because she NEEDS to blink to go ANYWEHRE, yet she has a power cooldown.
I get it, the power cooldown is to give Survivors a chance to escape a chase. Just have the cooldown apply during chases (or within 5 seconds of a chase ending), so that the Nurse can still actually go places outside of chases.
A couple problems with that:
- You can trick the chase trigger.
- That would make it so the Nurse could get across pretty much any map in record time.
-
@Name_Unavailable said:
Well, You have only up to 3 names will you gonna use it on good players or toxic players? on good fair billy or on tunneling freddy with mori?
Neither, but thank you for acknowledging this is about survivors wanting to dodge killers.

Yeah, ######### anyone who tries to be competitive in a PvP game that only has ranked matches. How dare they try to be good at the game?
-
@hagling said:
I'd love that tbh, it might encourage people to play more nicely.
It didn't in the games it was tried. In fact, it resulted in longer queues for the best players, who were then only matched with newbies who blocked them immediately.

Terrible idea because the best players would suffer the most.
-
Go AFK in a corner and wait until they leave.
-
- Map offerings
- Learn to play on those maps
- Uninstall
All perfectly fine options you can try.

You dont have to significantly change it. You can adjust few things:
1) Dont kill survivors who do not struggle. AFK survivors will continue to hurt their teams, but, at least, they wont instantly die on the 2nd hook.
2) Dont give bp to survivors who do not struggle.
3) Give bp to survivors who want to struggle.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) Ok, if you support suicides and you want to keep it, you can add a ''suicide'' button.
EDIT: Wait, we do have the ''Leave Match'' button. You dont have to add more suicide buttons. Just give bp to people who struggle and dont give bp to people who dont like it.
"Leave match" removes all the BP you acquired during the trial. It's not the same as dying on a hook.

@NorbiZ said:
So as we know whenever a killer is face-camping it's best to just work on generators. Unfortunately that's unfair for the survivor that is on the hook. I think it would be more fair if the camped survivor received bloodpoints for every second that they are being face-camped
The survivor who was caught and failed to hide and escape shouldn't get compensation for being bad at the game.

Servers work fine for the vast majority of people. I wouldn't worry about it. At least rage quitting is down, which is a big plus.

There's a movement by certain people who are into swastikas to try to make them "normal", even though we all know exactly what kind of people are into swastikas (outside of very specific cultures that they don't belong to).

Killers having more information than survivors is not a problem. It's that whole "asymmetrical game" thing. They're supposed to have more information by design.

I do have 2 other people I play with but they haven't been on recently. We all have the same mindset, if something happens that shouldn't have we compensate for it. Killer avoids hitting me due to vac pallet? We let them get the hit. We miss DS but still get the stun we'll let the killer kill get us. And in turn killers who run into us enough as have the same amount of respect.
So that's a yes for playing on Steam? I'm not a very good survivor (above average at best), but I can play with you from time to time.

I doubt that, you could simple rest your whole hand on the spacebar
I don't because that's what I heard from people with carpal tunnel who complained about having to hold a button for a prolonged period of time. Of course, they weren't trying to rest their entire hand on the button, I think that would actually be OK.
-
Are you on Steam? Play SWF, that's my advice.
-
@WhatTheHeckMeg said:
I'm not affected by the carpal tunnel syndrome or anything else...but I sympathise with everyone who is affected...and the devs should too. They don't even have to implement an automatic struggle phase. They should just change the mechanic from "ancient arcade button mashing" to "hold down the button". That would still force the survivor to "do something" (like the devs wanted) but make the struggling a lot more pleasant to people with physical disabilities and a lot less annoying for other players. Another advantage would be that the used input device would not wear out so fast.
Holding the button is actually worse for people with carpal tunnel, I think.

It is not unlikely at all. Of course it is easy to dismiss a counter-argument by saying "it is unlikely". But Killers are crying for save Unhooks instead of BT-Unhooks. And if the Killer is chasing someone else, this is incredible save at this point.
Besides that, IMO the only Nerf DS needs is that it is disabled during Endgame. I can only speak for myself but I rarely get hit by DS and I highly doubt I am the exception.
But I know - Killers are the victims. :)
It's easy to dismiss my counter by just saying "it's not unlikely". You yourself admit that if the killer is chasing someone, then it's a safe unhook, meaning you have your second chance.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
- "When you're grabbed. Too many survivors abuse lockers when they have DS because it forces the killer to either get stunned, or let them go without slugging them (meaning they can just go right back on generators). It's a lose-lose situation for the killer imposed by a single survivor perk, which is inadmissible in an asymmetrical game."
Nice. Getting grabbed while vaulting a Window disables my DS. Nice, nice.
- "If the killer has put another survivor in the dying state. You've already escaped danger; you've had your second chance."
lol.
Killer is chasing someone else aka good moment to Unhook. Right after I got unhooked the other Survivor is downed. Killer is now free to tunnel me since he knows that I dont have DS.
Killer outplays you and grabs you while you're vaulting a window, gets stunned for it anyway. Is that fair?
You were unhooked and the killer is somewhere else on the map. Even if the killer were to immediately turn around, you already have a chance to hide, be healed, etc.. In other words, you have a second chance. Having to specify such an incredibly unlikely scenario is just proof that this suggestion covers all the scenarios that actually happen.

Thing is endfury needs you to break 2 pallets, and good loopers can extend that. Yes it rewards you for failing, but atleast you have to do something that wastes your time to activate it.
As for BT, DS and DH, you don't need to do anything to activate them except using them in the right scenario.
Regardless, none of them need a nerf imo.
And BT, DS, and DH are all powerful individually. Endurance and Spirit Fury (let's not call the combo "endfury" to make it seem like it's a single perk) take up half the killer's perk slots.
-
More Nurses, fewer Doctors and Nightmares.
Also, it makes sense that an instadown killer would use DH and NOED. You don't expect them, so you don't look for them.
-
@DelsKibara said:
- Yes, mainly because by then you have to REALLY TRY to get your DS to proc for you. No need to waste 2 health states either. You're just wasting you and your teammate's time that both of you could do on generators.
- On the fence for this one, mainly because the best thing to do when you use DS is to use those 60 seconds for something productive, like generators. I personally wouldn't want that removed. Even when I play Killer.
- No, I feel like "Tactical Grabs" take a monocume of skill to achieve (Unless you use Lockers). I feel like it should stay.
- Again, no, the Killer can easily put the unhooker in a dying state. Especially right during their unhook. This would make DS way too situational and have too obvious of a counter.
- I do agree that it is powerful in the endgame, but to that I say you need to eat those DS stuns early into the game rather than let it fester around the endgame.
- Thing is, if you got back on generators, then you've had your second chance. The killer didn't go for you, you're free to do as you wish.
- I'm assuming you meant "modicum". Grabs don't take skill from the survivors to accomplish, they depend solely on the killer.
- In that case, the survivors would be punished for hook rushing. I don't think that's an issue.
- Eat the stuns early and survivors extend chases by 50% (at least), allowing them to repair more generators and escape. Eat the stuns late and they open the gates and escape. It's catch-22, same as with the grabs.

The devs mentioned something like that about 1-2 years ago. Still waiting on that one.
You're probably better off equipping either Kindred or Decisive Strike (or both).
Also, if you somehow get away, lead the killer to the hook farmer and give them up to the killer. I know I'd give them a face-to-face meeting with the Entity.

@MadLordJack said:
Just use a macro. If you get punished for it, just report it and we'll bring out the torches and pitchforks.
Seriously, no-one likes this forced struggle mechanic. It wears down equiptment and inflames pre-existing medical problems that are extremely common among gamers, not to mention the professions that most gamers come from. If anything can get this community united, it will be getting rid of the forced button-mash.
It's easy to say that when you're not the one being punished.

What are the assumptions the other explanations make?
One assumes matchmaking is bugged in a way that only affects the survivor queues. The implicit assumption here is that matchmaking is different for killers and survivors, since it's the only way a matchmaking bug would affect one side and not the other.
Another assumes there are ranking errors that only affect the survivor queues. Like the previous one, the implicit assumption is that rank works differently for survivors and killers.

No, it proposes that as an explanation for the queue time discrepancy between survivors and killers. There's a difference.
