  • If there were plans for this, I'm pretty sure publicly saying so would constitute some kind of license violation, since you're saying "I'm not renovating the license, but I'm just going to make something else that's just similar enough that nothing's gonna change on my end, but you don't get paid".

  • @Saitamfed said:

Actually yes. It's like a professor unwilling to share you the result of their test within a week... they have a responsability to do so as people are customers, imagine me providing you a service then removing it and saying "you don't need to know why, it won't change the result anyway"... so yes, people do have a right to know, specially when they paid for said product.

NDAs are a thing, and quite common in matters of licensing.

Noed also stops at page 9

My first idea was that it showed you all pages but only loaded the one within your search date but if you up it to a year fnaf pages increase to 313 so that isn't either

So yeah does seem like a bug

And I hope that search showed you why people are so angry/annoyed by FNAF threads and comments, and that the situation is in no way comparable to any other topic.

    Am I saying that? No.

But if you see "leaks" in the title of the twitter or website, maybe, just maybe, you can guess that there are spoilers on those websites, right?

And then it's your OWN fault if you click on those and get spoilered. Not the fault of other people.

So what do you do when those leaks are posted on the official Dead by Daylight forum?

  • @SloppyVoldemort said:

I don't mind, It's always your own choice to go towards those Twitter accounts or websites.

One of those websites is the official DbD forum. Are you just supposed to avoid any and all websites related to DbD?

  • It's Hellraiser, 100%, which is why I'm excited to see how they managed to translate the source material onto DbD's play style.

  • @Angelicus23 said:

Leaks literally saved the anniversary event, cakes were not going to stack and helped me saving cells for interesting skins/sales

Or the devs were already aware of the bug and were fixing it without the leakers doing anything.

People seriously underrate how many people there are in the fnaf fan base I forgot how many people there are easily a 7mil that's close to hell raiser with 8m

The most seen fnaf vid I've seen had about 98m

And how many of those will actually buy the game? Hell, how many of those can buy the game? How many have moved on from the franchise, or even horror?

Raw numbers of potential customers aren't enough to justify pandering, from an economic perspective.

Manually loading one page at a time is not the same as running a query and pooping the results. One is just listing the content, the other is sorting it. One takes processing power and disk access that needs to be managed.

Fair enough, but shouldn't it show the results anyway if a person goes to that page in the results?

  • @SonicOffline said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2433212#Comment_2433212

Deleted comments and raw information overload. I wouldn't be surprised to see the software DBD uses for its forum intentionally purges threads of a certain age so the rest functions smooth for the general public. Public access databases do need load balancing, and a forum is exactly that. It's still showing the amount of content that was available though, which means the point isn't moot. Those threads did exist at one point.

It doesn't purge the threads, no. That's why we have over 4000 pages of threads in General Discussions.

    I tried this

Searched Fnaf, restricted it to one week

It said 125 pages of discusion

Going through the pages it ends at page 10 and all the rest are "no results found"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LRGNOGSLRY7N/image.png

So is the site bugged for me or are you people overreacting?

I'm surprised you actually did it, most people just gloss over verifying sources. You get an upvote on that alone.

Truth be told, I didn't scroll through the pages because I just assumed it was working properly. However, it does seem like it's a bug, since it happens with "Candyman" as well, on page 9. I'm guessing it's related to deleted comments.

That's the whole point, you don't have to deal with it. You can just ignore it. You just choose not too.

It is in no way entitlement. The difference between the fnaf community and you is that you are deciding for them what they should discus while they are just talking among themself. They are not forcing you to read any of it.

Trying to turn the world revolving comment around while they just want to discus what they like and you as an outsider step in and tell them they can't is beyond ironic.

And fnaf is a horror game. DbD takes licences of horror games so it's 100% a valid point of discussion.

Or are we going to put a fixed number of threads on all suggestions for this game? Better watch out with candyman suggestions. We are nearing the tolerance level of some people.

I don't personally care for fnaf but people who try to silence other people just cause they don't like what they say need a serious reality check.

Thanks for giving the perfect example of what i said about ego's. Your problem with the fnaf community is exactly that. Your problem that you made for yourself.

Better watch out with candyman suggestions. We are nearing the tolerance level of some people.

Getting so tired of this deflection...

I couldn't read that entire wall of text, but one sentence did draw my attention:

I see posts all the time about Candyman and I don't really want Candyman in the game.

There aren't nearly as many Candyman comments as there are FNAF comments. It's not comparable in the slightest. See my comment here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2431939#Comment_2431939

Candyman comments aren't being spammed. If you do the same thing for Hellraiser, you get 47 pages, a little over half the number of FNAF pages, and Hellraiser is literally the next chapter.

At some point, you have to acknowledge the fact that the reason why people are so angry and burned out with FNAF comments is because of its fans' behavior, instead of trying to push the blame onto other people/fandoms.

Don't compare the two, they're nowhere near the same level. Comments mentioning FNAF outnumber comments mentioning the actual chapter, even though, by now, we would've been swimming in threads about the new chapter. That's how much spam there is, that people don't even want to talk about the new chapter.

A: be more forthcoming with information

This has nothing to do with leaks. They withhold information on new chapters and so on to build hype. This is the rule, not the exception.

B: acknowledge the leaks when they happen and give us whatever teaser or other information they have.

That makes no sense. A leak is essentially revealing a secret. Why should they just spill all of them afterward? That'd ruin the whole thing.

  • None, there isn't enough information.

  • With a controller? Definitely not.

I didn't know seeing people enjoy something is offensive to you. If you don't like seeing these threads or think they are spam, report them, and move on. It doesn't do anyone good to be angry at something that isn't going to stop. The only way the fnaf hype will die is if it's implemented into the game. Yes I support fnaf in dbd. Yes I most recently made a fnaf post that everyone got mad at because "fnaf bad, and liking fnaf bad" even tho in no way was I trying to spam, I was just trying to have an honest conversation. A lot of people do it put of spite because people who don't want fnaf are such jerks. But contact a mod, report the posts, or (my personal favorite) ignore the posts. Leaving hate comments or telling them to stop won't work. This is the forums meant for talking about dbd, you really can't just say "stop posting about fnaf" because that isn't going to work. I see posts all the time about Candyman and I don't really want to Candyman in the game. However I'm not gonna bash them unless it's clearly spam. Fnaf is just a hot topic and people want it. Just let people enjoy things, or just quietly report them. Everyone is just so angry at each other and I don't get it. Like, let's just chill and enjoy a game where we virtually kill people.

Use the search feature, look for "FNAF" and restrict the date to 1 week of today (you can literally write "today", FYI). 85 pages of comments in the last week.

Now do the same for "Candyman", whose fans are also often accused of "spam" by FNAF fans who genuinely don't seem to understand how much FNAF spam there is. 21 pages of comments, or roughly 1/4 of the number of comments (some of which are FNAF fans comparing their own fandom to Candyman's, or complaining about Candyman's).

Do the same for NOED, but now change the date to one month. 66 pages, or roughly 3/4 the number of FNAF. In other words, in the past week alone, FNAF has been mentioned more often than NOED in the last month, and we all know how often NOED is complained about.

So why do people hate the idea of FNAF? Some genuinely don't like the franchise, others don't like the fandom, but nearly all are just burned out by the nonstop spam.

God I'm not victim lol I would've gave it back because I found another one. If I did get hooked the Adam would've t-bagged my hook which would've been fair and funny lol would've fully deserved it but I wouldn't have cared.

If I hadn't done it in the first place is a bit of a weak argument. The man was fully prepared to kill a full team to try and kill me, just because he got outplayed. In the time he was doing nothing I did 1 gen and started following the death hook survivor for a flashlight save. Would've done more if she didn't keep coming back to the gen with ruin.

God I'm not victim lol I would've gave it back because I found another one.

"Sure, I took his money, but I would've given it back because I found some on the ground! Wait, why are you still arresting me?"

You didn't act like a teammate, though. You acted like someone trying to screw him. That automatically makes you not part of the team.

EDIT: The fact that you think he was "outplayed" is just the perfect example of the problem. You are on the same team. You're not supposed to "outplay" your own teammates. You stopped being a part of the team the moment you decided to "outplay" another survivor.

I'm not trying to contribute to spam. This isn't spam. Most spam is just people saying they want fnaf in dbd. I'm not saying that. Well... yes I'm saying that, but I'm not just stating that, I just want to interact with others and see why they want or don't want it.

It get people are annoyed, but thats not what I'm doing. People paint with such broad strokes.

I know you're not trying to contribute to spam, but to the people who've been riled up by the spam, any thread on the subject is now considered spam.

If you just want to gather information on this controversial subject, I recommend waiting until the next chapter release. Tempers should have cooled by then, assuming no more threads appear on the subject. If they keep coming, though, it's anyone's guess when - or even if - tempers will cool sufficiently for people to be able to discuss this without the results we've seen so far.

That just sends the message that if you spam enough, the devs will kowtow to you. It's not the kind of behavior you want to reward.

    I think its beautiful.

I don't think the majority hates it, they're just annoyed by its fandom's behavior.

  • I mean, I won't deny that I get a little schadenfreude from DCers getting their just desserts, but I do also sympathize with people who get game crashes and whatnot. Unfortunately, since the DCers abused the lack of penalty, it had to be re-enabled.

My advice for people with severe crashing issues, for whom the penalty just increases indefinitely, is to just stop playing for the time being.

I myself sometimes can be overreacting with opinions when I have bad days so I'm no different than others we just need to learn that we all are different and have different taste

I'd wager most people aren't angry at the different tastes, they're angry at the nonstop thread spam. Even people who like it are now going against it because of the constant spam.

  • I understand your point about ignoring low-effort threads, but that's not the main issue.

Right now, most people are burned out from the constant FNAF spam. No matter how well thought out the idea is, people are going to respond negatively, it's just human nature. It's not feasible to expect people to respond logically once they've been riled up like this. If you actually want to have an honest, open discussion about it, the first step is to stop mentioning it altogether for a prolonged period of time. Let people actually have a break from the subject.

Even if every single thread was well thought out, if they were posted nonstop, people would still respond negatively. The quality of the threads doesn't stop people from being fed up with the topic.

To summarize, if you want people to stop being angry about FNAF and to respond to it the same way they respond to other topics, then you need to act like the people who post those other topics.

That means no more thread spam, giving people a break from the subject for some time (I'd wager at least a chapter - not counting this one - before tempers have cooled), being honest about when the new chapter teasers are or aren't compatible with FNAF (I've seen people literally say they know it's Hellraiser and not FNAF, but that they were claiming it was FNAF anyway - this just makes people angrier), and being honest about the franchise itself (yes, it was marketed to kids and most of its playerbase was teens and kids back in the day).

TL;DR: If you want people to move on, then you need to give them a break and change your attitude so that what pissed them off before doesn't happen again.

  • Tunneling is a strategy where the killer goes after one survivor to the exclusion of everything else.

Camping is a strategy where the killer stays near the hooked survivor, to try to prevent rescues.

NOED is a killer hex perk, "No One Escapes Death". If there are dull totems on the map when the gates are powered, NOED latches on to one of those totems and exposes all the survivors, meaning they go down in one hit (as long as it's a basic attack). The killer also gets a slight speed boost.

SWF is "Survive With Friends", refers to when survivors group together before joining the queue. It carries many benefits to the survivors, like the possibility of using voice chat to relay information.

Face camping was an exploit where the killer could block the "Unhook" interaction. It was removed some time ago. Nowadays, many people erroneously use it to mean that the killer is within a certain distance of the hooked survivor (usually right up to their face, but definitions vary from person to person).

DH can mean either Devour Hope, a killer hex perk, or Dead Hard, a survivor exhaustion perk. It depends on the context. The former gives killers some tokens when survivors unhook while the killer is far away. At 3 tokens, all the survivors become exposed. At 5 tokens, the killer can kill them without hooking. Dead Hard makes the survivor invulnerable to damage for a short duration while also increasing their speed, but they have to be injured and running to use it.

Slugging is a strategy where the killer leaves survivors bleeding on the ground, without hooking them. They may or may not hook them once all survivors have been placed in the dying state, depending on the killer.

If the best response we can come up with is "It's just there for no reason" when talking about teasers, you know it's getting pretty desperate. What about the fact what they had to make it recording when there was clearly no reason to do that? And then they had to specify the recording type when there was, against, absolutely no reason to do that? And they specified it as SLP, when they could have just slapped SP and be done with it. There's only three recording modes, SP being the one used for movies, it's not exactly rocket science. All of that is just there for no reason? It's... incredibly hard to believe, maybe you have an explanation though?

I'm not saying that it's not reasonable to have doubts, I am however saying that the statement "Everything else points to fnaf" is just flawed.

Not sure why it's so hard to accept that people can disagree on what they'd prefer to have, and that the evidence isn't 100% to either, but hey! You do you- 2 posts checks out.

And even if you do agree on which license you want, you can still recognize that all the clues point to Hellraiser and not whatever license you want.

For instance, I suggested the devs might have been leaking words for "Say Candyman", one of the taglines of the original Candyman film, due to the order of the letters (SA). However, I ended up dropping it by the third letter (I). Someone else, though, said they could just be spelling "Say it" alternating between the two words. Even though I want Candyman, I disagreed with that notion.

  • I think you're confusing the old ranking system with the new one. The new one doesn't show your rank.

"Accepting" doesn't mean I should pretend that false information is accurate just because it comes from certain people.

The next chapter is Hellraiser, this is an objective, immutable fact. Denying this fact that everyone already knows is about half the reason why people aren't more accepting of your fandom.

They revealed the word HELL, which points to Pinhead. But they revealed it in a way that, really, only Scott Cawthon reveals FNAF clues. SO, Why would the Devs reveal a Hellraiser clue in the most FNAF way possible, knowing full well that the player base recognizes it as the most FNAF way possible?

Scott Cawthon didn't invent the audio spectrograph, nor was he the first person to hide clues like that. Look up "Trials Evolution riddle" - and that's just the most famous example, which came out two years before FNAF 1.

The devs didn't give a single thought to any franchise except Hellraiser, because that's what the next chapter is.

estimating someone to be green or yellow rank= they played at a much lower level than how a teammate should

No, it just means they're estimated to be at green or yellow rank. If someone wants to say that their teammates were worse than they believe would be fair, then they should say that; otherwise, it just looks like they're still obsessing over irrelevant ranks.

Okay and my feedback is that it’s terrible, I don’t need to see ranks to tell they’re in the double digits.

This is what I'm talking about.

They don't want you to try to estimate your teammates or opponents' ranks, they just want you to tell them if the trials seem fair or not, and if not, why.

  • They hid the ranks to see if people will give feedback on the information they actually need; namely, how the trial went. People were focusing on the old ranks instead, which is useless information for the devs to understand if MMR is doing its job or not.
