Ah, my bad.
Well, it says this:
"Notice: At the request of the publisher, Dead by Daylight - Silent Hill Cosmetic Pack is unlisted on the Steam store and will not appear in search."
I know that's not an answer, but it's all the information I can find on the Steam page for the cosmetic pack.
EDIT: If you add the bundle to your cart, though, it should automatically discount all the things you already own.

Sure.

It's available on my end. Are you trying to gift this to someone or something?

Because it's not like they don't know that the game is BS when good players are involved. They've said in the past that they "think it's cool that people play that competitively but we aren't interested in following that top-down approach."
They've had multiple years to do something about it, and they haven't
Given the recent thread about that streamer, it's clear that even players who are thought of as "the best" aren't necessarily so. SBMM will allow them to see who's really at the top on either side. They can't make proper changes at the extremes (high/low skill) when the ranking system doesn't even work right, IMO.

I don't know how to check the first, for the second I can tell you I usually peak at 50MB/s on Steam, but I remember the contract mentioning 75MB/s. The CPU is an Intel core i7 8th gen and I think something like 9750K (I really don't remember).
But I honestly don't believe my specs are the issue. As I said, literally any other game updates at light speed.
Nope, doesn't sound like your specs are the issue, unless your SSD is failing.
Maybe the issue is Steam itself. I doubt they allocate server resources democratically. They probably prioritize certain games over others.
-
What's your SSD's read/write speed? What's your internet's speed? What's your CPU?

Same thing for me regarding Pinhead. People have different tastes, is all.

Someone who had a 50-win streak on Ghostface against better teams, obviously.

Seems like this person's MMR was inflated by winning continuously in the old, flawed ranking system, and needs to be adjusted.

But I put it in a way that the ST license was limited from the start in a way that renewing it wouldn't be possible after the end of the agreement. It's weird how people tend to blame Netflix for everything when Behaviour could have agreed that after a while no matter what the content is gone. It may not be about money and resources, it may very well be the literal time-limition Behaviour agreed to. And the great part about it all is that they didn't need to be vocal about it since we are all under the roof of EULA.
And that's why I think that after giving players stable content they might use this opportunity to analyze how well everything sells once the community is pressured with time. And I highly believe that the income will be massive since they target the older game audience pretty well here. It's a great way to make veterans pay as well instead of sticking to their comfort content.
That's why closing eyes and believing that nothing like that ever happens again any time soon is really silly. It will happen, sure, but the tendency of it happening may change.
I doubt that was the case. It makes no sense for BHVR to limit the content they have available in the game, that's literally giving people less of a reason to buy the game. And without continuous income, any business dies.
I've witnessed more than my fair share of "BHVR bad/evil/shady" conspiracy theories to fall for them. I don't expect BHVR to always do the right thing because the company is made of people (and people always screw up, eventually), but if you don't have even a modicum of trust in their intentions (if not their execution), there's really nothing they can do to convince you.

While you may see Behavior as a fair company, there were rumors about a license end fairly long ago. Now we can see what license it is.
It's hard to believe that such a situation would occur out of blue. Right before the fourth season of Stranger Things. Licensing is a long and tedious process. Nothing happens "suddenly" if there are no issues with the ownership.
To me, it looks more like a way to advertise the new season of the TV series while giving the fanbase something to play around with for the time of its production. There's a chance that the limitation of the license could be the time it's active.
Imagine the headlines on many game news websites. "Oh, wow, time-limited ST content! Wait, what about ST? Oh wow, the new season comes out!" That's simply how marketing works.
You may have your opinion, I'm just saying the whole deal with Stranger Things could be time-limited from the beginning.
I'm literally agreeing that it was time-limited, because that's how all licensing works. Licenses have to be renewed from time to time.
-
This is how it's always worked, as far as I know: licenses are temporary and have to be renewed every so often. If either or both parties can't reach an agreement, the licensed media is pulled. However, I don't believe this was BHVR's choice.

they always notify you at least one month before
That's different, you have a contract with them, with regular payments. You don't have to pay BHVR regularly to keep playing DbD, you just make the initial game purchase and that's it.

I'm friends with one of the wiki admins and I can assure you nothing is being removed from the wiki. The wiki has never deleted any articles for removed content, why would they start now?

The DLC hasn't been released. Don't rely on leaks (remember how Trickster was the LGBT chapter?), wait for real information.

Because many survivors are apparently under the illusion that they can do no wrong. They'll readily admit that they don't think that, but their actions betray their true feelings.
They can claim that they're fallible all day long, but when it comes to actually owning up to what went wrong, it's always someone else's fault, never their own. Their own fallibility is a mere hypothesis, a flight of fancy, not something that actually happens.

I understand how licenses work and that our horror hall of fame game was never going to keep all its licenses at certain points, but it's still a huge blow for the game.
Hope they're able to renegotiate down the line.
Once Netflix's newest venture fails, I'm sure they'll be ready to return to the table and negotiate like grown-ups.

For real, people are just bummed out. Let them feel crappy and vent it out.
Not intended as a lecture, more of a "this is business as usual and you shouldn't really worry about it". Y'know, so people don't feel so down and come to terms with it.

Yeah but the main difference were those were something everyone could obtain at any time at no cost other than time and they were part of the base game. This is a paid DLC that was marketed as a permanent addition to the game at least that would be a standard assumption for a player to have.
Now of course the delisting isn't the full removal of content aside from the map but it's basically a full major update being removed. I feel your examples aren't all accurate legacy was never removed it was just awarded once to players. Moonlight offerings was just a small thing that affected developer time and map balance so for consistency they normalized the lighting on maps and removed the offerings. Lower rarity map offerings didn't matter because we still have map offerings that guarantee the map and splinters were technically replaced with Iri shards being able to purchase characters and cosmetics.
Essentially though - Everything you mentioned is still here with how it was introduced or it was replaced with a new feature. Stranger Things is outright being removed with no replacement and to me that's a big deal. I do understand what you mean though and I feel there's merits to what you're saying but I feel there is a big difference between those small additions in the game and a major update being removed / replaced.
That's why I added original Freddy, whose power was completely changed. He's essentially a brand new character at this point. Nobody else can play him at this point, not even the people who paid for him.

Normally I agree with your points, but I think there’s a big difference between all of your examples and what’s happening here.
Right now I can go tell a friend who hasn’t played DbD that they should give it a chance - you can play as all of these classic horror icons and a few more modern ones as well. If that person happens to be a massive fan of a Nightmare on Elm Street, I can bring them in and say that hey, this game has Freddy. They’re not going to care that this is Freddy 2.0, they’re going to care that they can play Freddy Krueger.
Come November 17th, if I go up to a friend and give my speech and they say “oh, I think I heard that Stranger Things is in that, I’m a big fan of that, how’s that content?” I have to tell them they literally cannot play as those characters unless they borrow my account (which iirc is frowned upon in the rules outside of KYF). I don’t get to tell them “oh yeah they’re in the game. They had an old version but they got reworked but they’re still there!” - I have to flat out say that they literally cannot play as them.
This game is a hard enough sell to new players as is with the insane grind and steep learning curve - legacy characters, because that’s really what we’re dealing with - are not healthy for the longevity of the game.
Plus I personally despise the “######### you, got mine” attitude so I can’t feel good about knowing I will always have the ST chapter despite never watching an episode, but a major ST fan discovering DbD in 2022 can never have them.
At absolute best I can say the survivors are ultimately skins, but Demo and Hawkins are gameplay unique to them and cannot be experienced by people coming in in November. And I cannot feel good about that.
I also added original Freddy, dunno why it didn't show up for you guys.

Honestly the only argument that I can think of is that people won't be able to do content creation as easy. If people are the same skill then they can't do dumb stuff and get away with it.

Yes, it can happen with any license. Hell, it can even happen with original chapters. This is all in the EULA. However, I wouldn't worry about it when it comes to older licenses or original chapters.
Owners of new licenses usually think they're the next big thing, so they're going to be arrogant and try to get unreasonable deals. Owners of old licenses usually understand they've peaked decades ago, so they're going to be more humble.

Oh yeah, the longer they exist, the more iconic they might be. But that is more in grades of being iconic. There are plenty of historical moments that were iconic that died out. Heck, if it wasnt for the horror reboots, it was going to be quite likely that Freddy would no longer be an iconic killer. Which would mean that Myers and Jason are more iconic than Freddy was.
Time is the true test of what it means to be iconic. If it lasts for all of 15 minutes and is then forgotten (seriously, I can't even remember any of the so-called "instant classics" to list as examples; that's how forgettable they are), it's just an advertisement tactic.

So this is pareidolia?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IW9VW3F4TGZO/image.png
its a bit more blocky since I zoomed in, and the ears are more purple because of messing with levels, but that doesnt appear on the normal map, there is not a single DBD character that has that on top of their head.
I could agree with you that the sky image is pareidolia, but even the sky differs from what is inside the map itself, so it's reasonable that people came to that conclusion as well.
This is why I say that even though hellraiser is the next chapter, they did aquire a license to use FNaF characters too. At least, for promotional material.
Yes, it is. That's a crow and a bunch of rocks. Look at the original image, not this zoomed-in, cropped, and digitally altered nonsense.
-
@sulaiman said:
And can you also tell me how likely that is? Might give your answer some substance.
It's more likely with IPs that haven't been milked sufficiently (i.e.: newer IPs). Since Stranger Things was the most recent IP to ever be added to DbD, I'm guessing it's highly unlikely - but not impossible - that it'll happen again. However, killers can still be reworked from the ground up at any point, and that, I believe, is more likely for certain characters (specifically, the ones survivors complain about the most).

But it might change my investment-plans for the game. Because i dont know if it is a single event, or if it can happen to meyers, freddy, or nemesis or any future dlcs as well. And thus regards the health and intrest of the game, and thus has an effect on my gameplay experience.
So, i might not need to know, but i have to make my decisions then based on what i belive to be more likly, it being a single incident, or the possibility of it happening again, and thus, it changes a lot of results, namly the money i might or might not be willing to put into the game in the future.
In that case, let me assure you that it can happen with literally anything in the game, as per the EULA everyone agreed to.

I know, I know. I'm just thinking forward to when it IS gone.
It's not the first thing that was removed from the game, nor will it be the last.
- Legacy Prestige is no longer attainable.
- Moonlight offerings are gone.
- Lower-rarity map offerings no longer spawn.
- Splinters were deleted.
- Original Freddy was reworked.
This happens in every game.

@Nikkiwhat said:
Sadly there will be a lot of people who don't care or are purely apathetic about this. Mostly because many don't have/care about the licensed characters OR they have them and have the "**** you I got mine" attitude.
I think it sucks, majorly. Having any content removed is something I do not like. Down the line there will be players faced off against a Demogorgon and be interested to play them, only to find out they can't play as them anymore. And while this is all perfectly legal and "fair" it's a huge upset.
I especially hate losing the map. It was one of thr more fun ones for myself as both Survivor and Killer. Doubly so for me playing stealth Killers...rip an option for Scratch Mirror Myers...The Game rework nixed that map being a good one for that meme build, sorta same as the Hospital being a bet less great for it.
...But it's not gone yet. You can still get it until November, if you want to.

Thanks, I read EULA. Its not the problem. I know it's may occur. The fact is BHVR failed to negotiate to keep the map. Whereas until now they seemed in a strong position compared to licensed content. Also the fact that they don't seem to want to tweak the map to at least keep the layout shows that they are a bit caught off guard, and that all the work done on the map will be lost.
As a player, you can be happy or unhappy that this content is lost or not, it depends on whether you like the map or not, but from a more external point of view, it remains a hell of a confession of weakness for BHVR, even I'm sure they did the best they could.
"Weakness"? Really? It was a license, not some competition between BHVR and Netflix. If BHVR threw enough money at Netflix, they'd have let BHVR do whatever they wanted to the license, but there's a reasonable limit. And, sometimes, people just don't want to come to the table, or some things are not on the table to begin with.
-
I highly doubt it. I'm assuming the devs are smart enough to keep license holders out of game balance, for obvious reasons. However, the reduced availability probably means that Demogorgon balance won't be a top priority, due to the reduced number of Demogorgon players.

You don't get the point, you're a customer and you get to know why something that you used to purchase, it won't be available anymore... it's not that dificult to understand. As an example, when they shut down the serves for deathgarden they didn't say "we are closing the servers" and that's all, the reason was that the player base was not as big as expected and actually they were losing money instead of earning by keeping the servers on... when Bill couldn't come to consoles they said "license problems" because you, as a customer have the right to know and them as a company has a right to inform you. You're not asking how much in taxes they pay which is totally unrelated, it's something about a product that you are purchasing.
I already purchased it, so it makes no difference to me whether or not it's available for purchasing any more - I already own it.
Products get discontinued all the time without any justification being given. This is the rule, not the exception. Besides, anyone can put two and two together and realize it's a licensing issue.
The reason why makes no difference to you either, anyway. You either purchase it now, while it's still available, or you don't.
If they told you it was because one of the Netflix execs got a little drunk, the content would still be unavailable for purchase after the cut-off date.
If they told you it was because the Demogorgon was giving them nightmares, the content would still be unavailable for purchase after the cut-off date.
If they told you it was because that sailor outfit was distracting, the content would still be unavailable for purchase after the cut-off date.
Get the point? This is useless information that you can extrapolate anyway from the fact that it's a licensed chapter.

Streamers are finally playing against some stiff competition for once. I loved watching Scott get destroyed in multiple games after bragging about never losing at demo and only 0.1% of survivors being any good.
And that's why some people "don't like" SBMM: they think they're much better than they really are, then SBMM hits them with a highly inflated MMR (due to the numerous unbalanced trials in their favor) and they realize that they're not, in fact, as good as they thought.
-
@Reinami said:

if the license is not being renewed there really isn't a violation there, there is no longer an agreement. The agreement most likely (from knowing a bit how licensing works for these types of things) is about the likeness of the character, not how it functions within the game. The only thing there is that for example with Freddy, the license holder was probably like "ok cool, but he is a dream killer so he has to do something with dreams and people being asleep" outside of that BHVR probably can do w/e they want.
Unless you mean like, they would wait until after the license officially expires to announce something because technically it could violate the license now which still holds until w/e date.
The reason why you license a character is because you own the rights to it. Even if the license expires, that doesn't give you the right to create something borderline identical to the source material to replace it - that's how copyright violations happen.

No, but as a customer you get to know hwat's the reason because that will gives you a head up if you want to keep investing on it or not. Stop thinking that you don't deserve to be treated like potato bags. You purchased something and it's normal to know why they can't keep it, whether it's for license issues or not... YOU are the one who paid for it. As I said, I can't remove your internet services and tell you "yes, but if you have downloaded something, you can still have it", you're paying for it and you deserve to know what's going on.
If you paid for the chapter, you get to keep the characters. If you didn't, then you didn't pay for it, and therefore, by your logic, are not owed any satisfaction.
The map itself is free and can be added/removed at their discretion, like everything else in the game (it's in the EULA you agreed to).
