i would have to respectfully disagree, at least from my experience i have been able to win against optimal teams with legion for example. ( no im not saying he is strong)
Sorry, a team that loses against Legion is not optimal. But we can disagree here.
-
No, the majority of killers is not in a good place. But you can still have great matches even with Bubba and Legion at red ranks, because a lot of survivors who are reds don't actually play like reds. And when you face a skilled team, you feel helpless without Nurse or Spirit.
-
The last great killer in regards of power was The Spirit. From what we are seeing now, Huntress seems to be more powerful than Deathslinger.

I don’t get how this makes it into the game. Anyone who plays DBD regulrarly knows this is a bad idea.
Killers HATE keys. Now they’re going to get lobbies full of keys or plunderers and every survivor in the entire game needs to use a key twice during this period if they want the rift challenge.
Killers are going to bring Franklins to try and combat it, meaning survivors are going to be extremely unhappy that they can’t get their stupid challenge because killers are just using franklins and camping anyone with a key.
It’s just going to create salt, bad will and even further division between the playerbase.
I can think of 2 scenarios:
1) The person who came up with this challenge is not in touch with the game & the playerbase.
2) The person is well aware and knowingly decides to go through with this challenge anyway.
Is there a scenario 3?

"Why can't they have a dc penalty that can distinguish between a game crash, a force quit, and a regular disconnect? Yep, the server is unable to tell the differences."
That one thing isn't BHVR's fault. It's simply not possible to tell. You have the same problem with other video games.
Edit: While there are some differences in the details, I'm keeping it simple here.
-
It won't be that big of a difference from how it currently is: You escape, you keep your item. You die, you lose it.
-
There is no horror. The most you can have are jumpscares by Ghostface, Michael & Piggy.

Lots of killers already run one if not both of those perks all the time. I've seen more than enough red wiggle bars to prove that.
Second, if they use a toolbox for sabo, they can't use it on a gen. That's a net positive for the killer. They also said you won't have enough charges to do it many times. A survivor running around saboing isn't doing gens.
I know I will definitely be trying out the reworked sabo perk myself since it can be done infinitely with just a cooldown and shows you the hooks in the area of the downed survivor. If nearby, you can certainly try to sabo save or even just draw aggro to keep them from getting hooked. As someone said before, the killer then trades a hook state for more map pressure which slows down gens.
I absolutely think this will shake things up more and add more variety to tactics and strategies taking I to the game.
I don't see a lot of killers running Iron Grasp. In my matches, it's pretty much only happening when the killers obviously don't have a lot of perks unlocked.

What do you mean!?! Girls are tough! But only when they shave half their head.
Yup. Why do the girls have to dress in a similar style? You can wear a flower print dress and still be tough! 😩

Good thing there are perks that easily and utterly counter this tactic. You could run any of the like... four of them and just go to a different hook. Mad Grit, Agitation, Iron Grasp, and now Hangman's.
Any one of those should easily let you counter this new 1337 strat if you use them properly. With all of them you could nearly always reach the basement from anywhere on the map as it is.
Plus, running sabo means one less "second chance" perk or a toolbox not being used on a generator.
As someone said above, if they break your hook, you could just drop the survivor and chase the one that broke the hook. That makes a third survivor needed to pick up the downed one. You trade a hook state for more pressure.
This new sabo comes with plenty of counterplay and could shake the game up a bit from the constantly complained about meta build of Adrenaline, DH, DS, and BT.
How will this "shake the game up a bit from the constantly complained about meta build of Adrenaline, DH, DS, and BT" when the survivors just need a toolbox?
Also which killer can afford to waste perk slots on Iron Grasp & Agitation against good teams?
-
Map changes will take some time. For now, it's only on the new map.
-
6 non-penalized dc's per day is extreme. 1 would be the absolute maximum.
Also what would the devs do with replies like "family emergency" or "I didn't like how the opponent played"? And what would stop people from lying?
-
If it's not a licensed killer, it could be The Warden or The Convict. The killers' names are usually pretty straightforward. If I have to make a decision, let's go with The Warden.

Knockout, Thana, and Sloppy is my favorite combo. ;)
I didn't mention Thana & Sloppy because they aren't designed specifically around slugging. :) But sure, there are different ways to create a slugging build.
-
Slugging is not only a totally fine strategy, the devs even created several perks around it; so see this as an encouragement to continue slugging. Infectious Fright, Knock Out & Deerstalker are sending their regards.
-
No, the devs don't hate killers, it's just a business decision. There are a lot more survivors than killers, and new players haven't bought all the existing DLCs and cosmetics yet, so the focus lies on new survivor players.
-
When I see killers camping, it happens for strategic reasons in most cases. I rarely see a killer facecamping somebody while constantly hitting them - maybe the killer got annoyed by that particular survivor by t-bagging/flashlight clicky clicky... who knows? 🤷
Also "exit gate camping": What else is the killer supposed to do when the gens are done? Search for survivors on the opposite side of the map?
-
With the current matchmaking there is no sense in smurfing. High ranks are already getting matched against low ranks. 🤷
-
It's not op, but it should get fixed asap anyway.
-
I sometimes played for 8 hours in 2018. Now it's a lot when I play 5 hours.
-
No issues here. PS4 EU.
Killer instant.
Survivor around 4 minutes.
-
@CashelP14 said:
Is this only happening today and do you play on console? Usually killer lobbies only take 10 seconds but today they are taking 5 mins. Worse than that I am getting 320 ping which is weird.
I wonder if dedicated servers are still on?
I heard that this happens to other people since a couple of hours ago. Basically at the same time when there was the weird (old) rank reset.
Maybe somebody messed something up with the servers. (It's still dedicated servers.)
-
What is "toxic" for you? A killer using certain perks, add-ons, offerings, strategies?
Or did you see an increase in killers writing harassing messages after the match?
-
A little bit of truth lies in it.
Slow-down perks are not supposed to have too much synergy. Time will tell whether we'll see more nerfs.
Some "weak" survivor perks like Small Game are indeed on the list for buffs.
Billy is on the list for some adjustments. We don't know details yet. Personally, I'm expecting a nerf to his base power & add-ons. (The only necessary change would be to make the insta-saw add-ons non-stackable. Everything else is too much.)
The devs hinted for a while that Iri Heads are on the nerf list. Nothing more.
-
Do you still enjoy playing killer or do you feel like you have to force yourself?
If you still have fun, think about what is important for you: pips, bloodpoints, kills or simply having fun chases. Based on that, decide how you want to play.
-
I really appreciate the mods and their work & effort! They are not the ones who are responsible if something goes wrong, but they have to handle all the negative feedback. You need a thick skin for that.
-
Punishing killers for lobby dodging wouldn't solve anything.
If players had to accept every lobby with 3+ toolboxes, even less of them would play killer (hello, longer survivor queues!) and those killers who would continue to play would resort to tunneling, moris etc.
-
Would this game be a seriously competitive horror game, then Mr. Puddles wouldn't fit in.
But with how this game is, Mr. Puddles is a great fit. We should get more outfits like this.

NO
Hook tech is not a bug, its called "tech" for a reason.
It exists mostly because Animation Enhancement alters your animation to hit the hooked body instead of the survivior, at least from my observation and understanding and I dont think devs ever explained this personally.
So no, its not banable, its probably not even a glitch, but a very bad feature.
The devs stated it's a bug and they are working on a fix.

I dont even get paired with red ranks! Mostly green and purple.
I'm facing green killers in most cases, reds just from time to time.
-
Where are all the needed red rank killers supposed to come from? Not a lot of people want to play that role.

I wouldn't mind it. I think the devs are hesitant though because the killer could remember the names of a SWF group they face and dodge.
I don't think this would be a big problem. Killers who play on a regular basis, pay attention to names & face the same teams repeatedly are recognizing SWF teams anyway.
Those killers who don't remember SWF teams now will not start to remember teams in the future.
-
@Biggs said:
well most of killers hates swf and showing who was in swf would cause more toxiciness... so i think thats never gonna happen.. devs are trying to protet swf as much as possible due to they are the most cash cows
How would showing who was SWF cause more toxicness when the game has already ended?
-
I don't think the devs are that unaware. It's more likely that they don't want to balance DbD for decent survivor groups but for new survivor players.
-
The devs' focus lies on the new survivors' experience. That makes some sense from a financial point of view: New players have the potential to buy all the released DLCs + cosmetics, veterans already own them. And of course there are a lot more survivor mains than killer mains.
It's not about "hating killers", it's a business decision.
-
I usually don't stay around to watch. The next queue is waiting for me.

The "kneel down" part really makes it sound like somebody using the medkit add-on.

afk Wraith would make everybody who's left give up

Meg & Quentin
Freddy (even back then when he was the old F-tier Freddy)

-
Concerning the OP: A lot of people write something similar here, and I agree that the game is very unbalanced. I don't expect that the devs will change the direction of this game, apparently they have decided to go for a casual, low-skill party game.
What I always say: A video game is supposed to be fun. If it makes you feel bad, play something else that brings you enjoyment instead.
-
tl;dr: Veteran player. Game is in its worst state since the "dark days". Heavily favouring survivors. Devs only care about new players. Game has become so unfun for high rank killers that they are playing something else until the game gets more balanced.
-
Because a 2nd objective would make the game harder for new survivor players, and that's exactly the group they are focussing on.
I don't expect a 2nd objective (or increased gen time which almost nobody wants). The only thing that might happen is a toolbox nerf, but that would be a mere drop in the ocean.
-
BT for myself would be a nice thing to have and I have asked for it in the past. Yet I see a problem for solo players:
People could farm other players following the line of thought "they don't bring BT, then that's their own fault".
We can't predict whether such a change would encourage safe unhooks or encourage farming.
-
Of course not a lot of people use it anymore. The new Ruin would be good for the later stages of a match, but since it's a hex it's gone by then.
-
Even if you don't camp/tunnel and you play very generously, there are a lot of people who will still insult you after the match. Therefore, play how you want.

As annoying as that was, it was understandable as to why the challenge wasn't complete. Survivor dc'ed before they made it to the hook so the sacrifice never happened.
But in this scenario the gens were already done, I had finished my objective. And the game literally takes it back because the game ended prematurely.
Survivors dc'ed while they were being carried to the basement. They even dc'ed while they were hooked in the basement.
Complaining about group A being able to deny group B a challenge by dc'ing while defending it when the roles are reversed is pretty sad.
