It's normal. The game is in such a bad state that it doesn't require a lot of skill from the survivors' side even against good killers. It's enough to focus on getting gens done.
You are allowed to camp, tunnel, use NOED, use moris. You are allowed to play to win. It's not your job to be the fun provider for the survivors.
And keep in mind: Don't force yourself to find fun in playing killer. If it gets too frustrating, play something else - be it survivor or another video game. Playing video games should be fun!

I disagree. He can pressure really well with the right build. Pig's is RNG, Doctor's is guaranteed to slow things down.
Also he can counter quite a lot of loops well. Especially Autohaven ones.
The only time he struggles is against a good team but this goes for almost every single killer.
He's mid A to high B
Which part of Doc's ability makes things slow down? Snapping out is done faster than when you have luck at Piggy's first party hat removal box.
Keep in mind that Hillbilly is A-tier when you want to put Doc there. Billy is way, way stronger.
-
AFAIK, the chances of getting the new map - in this case Léry's - drop with every day and go to normal after 10 days.
-
If it's not too much work, you could write down all perks that have been used by the killers and your random teammates.
Also queue times.
-
No increased mobility, no way to ignore loops like Nurse/Spirit, no insta-down attack, nothing that helps him buy time like Piggy's party hats.
He can shut down loops, similar to Clown, and he can track survivors from time to time. He is a better Clown. In no world he is A-tier.
-
3-men-groups and 2x2 teams are so weak. It's basically like 4 randoms without aura reading perks!
-
Ruin is almost worthless in the first minute of a match. It would be a bit useful in the later stages, but since it's a hex, it's gone by then.
-
Is there anybody else who finds his chase "music" most annoying?
I wish the devs would give us the option to choose between his music and the standard one.
Edit: I added quote marks. I cannot call this "music", it's so bad.
-
If you are not happy with the current state of a video game, you can show your dissatisfaction by not spending money.
Spending money on a product shows the developers that they don't have to make changes and can expect their customers to keep buying.
The devs already told us which target group they focus on.
-
Killers aren't the fun providers for survivors. Don't overdo it with keys & toolboxes, and you have good chances that you won't get dodged.
I'm grateful for those people who still play killer. I'm not doing it atm.

Amazingly the game should be balanced around all killers having the potential to pressure the map, rather than having one killer with near infinite map control making global changes impossible because he'd be even more broken with it.
That's not logic. The bigger the map, the bigger the difference between Billy and, let's say, Trapper.
If the devs would make maps smaller and killers would need to travel shorter distances between gens, hooks etc., the difference between Billy and Trapper would become less significant.
Smaller maps would not make Billy "more broken". Is Billy broken on Coal Tower, for example? Clearly not.
-
I'm also playing on PS4. It's a Pro, and yet the performance is terrible. It really gets worse with every update.
I stopped playing killer a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I'll give it another shot, maybe not.
It's totally understandable that the killer experience is highly frustrating for you. At this point, you should indeed consider taking a break. Video games should be fun, not make you feel bad.

The matchmaking I don't think they can fix they have said "weeks" but that can turn into months with the glacial pace of fixing.
If there was a possible fix, I think we would have it by now. You don't need 2 months to fix a matchmaking algorithm.
-
No.
Bad performance, long queue times, boring 5-minute-matches - I wouldn't even recommend the game to potential survivor players. I don't think I have to start talking about the killer experience.

Since DBD is on its last legs I'm gonna download it again and use all the op add on's ad mori's. I'm sorry new players on the free week end(dumb idea bhvr) but enjoy the insta hatchets and other unfun tactics.
It's a weird idea to make a free-to-play weekend now, when the matchmaking is going crazy. Which rank 20 players are going to stay with the game after they have played a couple of matches against red ranks?
-
If there are not enough killers playing, you can soften the matchmaking restrictions all you want, survivors still won't get instant lobbies. From what I'm hearing, killers already get instant matches that puts them against survivors 10 ranks above them.
-
I'm afraid it's too late. All those people are used to being rank 1 survivors now. If the devs would force them back to green or yellow ranks, they would be really unhappy. Unhappy people aren't good customers.

You are 100% correct, now ask yourself, is anyone really enjoying their current Killer experience?
Is it fun or stressful? Some love it but most have a limited stomach for it, maybe a game or two before they switch to Survivor to relax.
Few people are still enjoying playing killer. I also stopped playing a couple of weeks ago because it's mostly a stressful experience that feels more like work than having a fun free time activity. (I've always been a survivor main, but I also played some killer on the side.)
-
Video games are supposed to be fun. If you don't enjoy a game, a community anymore, find a new game that brings you fun.
-
The alternative is even longer queue times. Do you prefer to wait 10 additional minutes for a red rank killer?
-
An open letter addressed to another player group, telling the other group to chill and just keep playing the game, while also insulting them.
No words.

I know about franklins, but, where the hell do survivors keep their items when carried or hooked?
Some magic pocket on their pants?
Don't start with logic. It's a fantasy horror game.
-
It was always like this. Survivors only drop their items when you have the perk Franklin's demise.

I had ONE good match. ONE.
A not so skilled huntress (though she wasn't bad, she was good enough). You know what we did? we all stopped doing gens. All of us, the last gen was being repaired by nobody, not because she was protecting it, but because we were all juking, trying to get a flashlight save, picking other people up the ground while she was trying to slug/snowball, unhooking... literally she lost the game like 10 minutes ago and we were all having fun, not caring about escaping or even if we die, it would have been better than the rest of the match I've escaped by holding M1.
It's really sad to see how the devs destroyed their own game and made it a boring and frustrating waste of time.
This is the only way to have fun games right now: Doing the gens intentionally slow. Hoping the killer notices the slow gen speed and then decides to play soft instead of camping/tunneling/whatever.

They're lobby dodging just to be dickheads aswell. I had a few in my survivor games that kept doing it at around the 15 second mark. I cant remember what people were taking for one of them but one particular lobby that was being dodged one had a map and the other had a health pack.
Maybe not every survivor had readied up? Some killers dodge in this case to avoid playing against quick switchers.
-
There are good reasons why this game has its reputation of being a bully simulator. Keep in mind: Don't force yourself to play killer. If you don't have a good experience, play something else. Playing a video game should never make you feel bad.

Welcome to Dead By Daylight. Killers are like an angry Chihuahua to survivors. You run from it, sure, but you're laughing the entire time at how weak it is.
I like this. I will steal this.

I disliked Doc's PTB chase music and I dislike the new one, too. I agree with the headache part. Worst chase music in the game by far, sorry I have to say this.

Corrupt Intervention.
Perks should only be a "nice-to-have". Corrupt Intervention and PGTW shouldn't be as necessary as they currently are.

Too late. People are now used to being rank 1. You can't put them back to the mid ranks and make them unhappy. Unhappy players aren't good for business.
-
If people want to quit, let them quit. If they can't enjoy playing a video game, they should play another one.

The scary part is I don't think the bad decisions will stop anytime soon.
Ruin wasn't a necessary balance change. It was done because BHVR is obviously now focussing on making the gaming experience nice for new survivor players, because these players are likely to spend the most money. So yes, I expect the bad decisions won't stop.
-
BHVR puts the focus on who has the potential to bring them the most money: These are the survivor players, especially the new ones who haven't bought all the DLCs and cosmetics yet.
As long as the playercount/earnings don't decrease, BHVR will continue this path.
-
I mean, I'm all for killer buffs and I think this game is heavily favouring survivors, but imho 99%ing exit gates is fine.
-
I think I read the 20th some time ago as the end of the "being able to spend"-timeframe. The "two weeks" were probably meant as "vaguely two weeks" instead of "exactly 14 days".

Sorry if I did. Looking at the two people before you... I came to the wrong conclusion about you... and you are correct.
No problem. You see the potential of the game, you care about the game - it's understandable that you are heavily unhappy with the current situation.
-
@Raven014 You misunderstand. I would really like it if the devs would make the game more balanced.
I'm just seeing this from a realistic point of view: Money will decide what is going to happen. If the amount of sold DLCs and cosmetics increase, BHVR will continue this path.
-
BHVR is a company which wants to earn money, not a charity. I guess you understood why they make the decisions they are making.
As long as the playercount stays at least constant, there is no reason for BHVR to change what they are doing.

I'm calling bull. I have played this game for years and never once had a survivor give me a kill if I did poorly. Sorry bud but this is just straight bs.
It's not.
But I believe that you have never seen it happen. I've been playing the game quite a lot (Devotion 9) & watching streams since summer 2017 and I have seen other people do this about 3-4 times.
-
I understand how you feel. I've always been a survivor main but I've also played some killer. I haven't played killer for weeks now, because it is stressful. If it feels like work, I want to get paid for it lol
Survivor queue times bother me, so I'm mostly playing something else atm. I follow the rule of "if I don't enjoy it, I play something else".
However, I'm keeping an open eye at the game. If the situation changes, I'll play more again. If it doesn't change, I'll mostly stick to other games.

That's no excuse for not treating killer players like they do with survivor players. Every player matters and at the end of the day, we ALL payed for this game so the devs should treat both sides equally. If one side feels neglected then that side will move to a game that cares about them. Killers leaving = no matches for survivors
I don't disagree with you. I was simply explaining what is happening and what is the reason for the situation we are in.
-
BHVR is a company that wants to earn money, not a charity. From a financial point, it makes sense to focus on survivors (a lot more survs playing than killers), and especially on new survivors, because new players haven't bought all the existing DLCs and cosmetics yet.
As long as the playercount and earnings stay constant or even grow, there is no reason for BHVR to change what they are doing.

I could argue that it favors killers but then we'd be going back and forth all day. I'm not blaming killers when the game is made by developers. Let's try to keep it civil 🙂
If the game would favour killers, most people would want to play killer and survivors would be the people with the instant queues. That is the reality.
Let's leave it at this.
-
@DBDIT said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1013015#Comment_1013015
Who said I'm blaming killers? Just wanna know why it's considered fair, on killer side, when it happens so often. So it's perfectly ok for survivors to have extremely long que times just because a killer doesn't like a certain item or sees swf?
Yes, it's fair. The game is heavily unbalanced and favours survivors immensely. Why should those few who give us matches have to deal with stuff that makes the game even less fun for them? Killers are real people who want to have fun in their free time, not employees whose work it is to be our fun provider.
Without killers willing to put up with all this stuff, this game would be dead. There are 3 alternatives:
a) It stays how it is. We have to learn to deal with long queues.
b) The devs make the game more fun for killers, then we'll get more people willing to play killer and the queue times will become normal.
c) The devs program an AI to take the killer's role.
If you are too annoyed by survivor queues, don't forget that you are free to play killer anytime you want.
Btw, I'm saying this all as a survivor main myself. I also used to play some killer but I'm not doing it atm, because it's just super unfun.
-
@DBDIT said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1012987#Comment_1012987
This is before the game starts and the killer sees a swf or a certain item they don't like which, in turn, makes us wait forever to get into a game. Legitimately having one game an hour in some cases. Doesn't seem fair is what I'm saying.
So you don't mean killers dc'ing but killers who lobby dodge. This is explained simply: Playing killer is stressful and not a lot of people want to do it atm. This leads to lobbies being instant for killers, which also allows killers to pick who they want to play against. Why bother with 3 toolboxes when you can have the next lobby within 15 seconds?
And no, disallowing killers to dodge is not an alternative. This would scare off even more killers and lead to even longer survivor queues.
Just leave items at home. That way, you'll highly increase your chances of not getting dodged.
As always: Don't blame the killers who have to deal with unfun matches, blame the devs for the unbalanced matches.
-
It's bad programming. Are you maybe on PC? Because this has been existing on console for ages (yet it did get worse with the last updates). I've noticed that it now also happens to some PC streamers I watch.
PCs have a better processing power than consoles, and a high processing power can compensate bad programming to a certain degree, but it seems like we are now at a point where even PC players suffer from fps drops.
It can also help to close and restart the game after a couple of matches. This helps with memory leaks.

Ranks system is what need a nerf. too many potatoes at red ranks with the new rank reset.
Not going to happen. Survivors are now used to being red ranks. Imagine the outcry if the devs would take that away from them.
It's either a removal of ranks or a change to the Emblems that pushes killers to the reds.
-
Like the others said: You should report this. Keep in mind that you need video proof for this.
-
This isn't going to get fixed unless the devs make changes to the pipping system.
There aren't enough killers atm, especially not at the high ranks, so yellow & green killers have to get matched against red survivors.

@mylesmylo said:
If it's just over this ruin change then I find it ridiculous to not want to play killer just because of that.
The Ruin change makes the game more stressful for the killer. If somebody doesn't want to play a role because it got even more stressful, then I find this understandable.
Playing a video game should be fun and not feel like work. If somebody doesn't have fun, they should play something else.
