He is currently Rank 15 and usually only plays Killer for Dailies if he has to or for the Archive Challenges. Other than that, complete Survivor Main (So I dont think he cares that much for his Waiting Times).
Queue Time: 10 minutes+, but not that much longer than 10 minutes
Area: Well, he lives in my town, so Western Germany (Ruhrgebiet)
Players he gets matched with: Mostly around his Rank, but also purples from time to time
Thanks for the info!

I thought I was the only survivor that does this. With how matchmaking is, where I’m usually matched against a killer who is 10 ranks lower than me, if I see that my team blew through all the gens and the killer couldn’t do anything, I assume it’s a baby killer and let them farm me.
It’s only a video game, everyone deserves to have a good time, everyone should earn good blood points, and everyone should express good sportsmanship!
If the killer was toxic, I won’t say anything because I just won’t stay around long enough to see the chat. Just move on to the next game.
I also have fun meme-ing with a killer. I do very bad against Ghost face so yesterday I offered my Ned kit to one and they nodded and let me live. He downed me and let me ride on his shoulder the whole match! I laughed the whole time while he was chasing my teammates with me on his shoulder.
Unless you’re making a ton of money, no need to take this game so seriously!
Exactly. The "baby killer" might get scared off after a couple of games otherwise, so let's treat them nicely so that they are going to stay with the game. This community could do with some more kindness.

I play on pc and I can say that the survivor queue times went from seconds to several minutes with the matchmaking changes. It was a pretty sudden change, it started happening the moment that patch came out.
It could be true that many killers stopped playing but the matchmaking/rank reset changes are definitely a big part of the problem.
I'm not saying that the SWF changes are completely irrelevant. But when other people say that the lack of killers is completely made up and nonsense, then I'm going to answer back, because this is definitely a very real part of the problem.
-
@NMCKE When you say the survivor should not get punished because the others might have dc'ed etc., you are also saying that the killer should get punished in any case. Even if the last survivor wasn't at fault: Why should the killer get punished because some survivors decide to dc?
Why should the killer get punished, and not the survivor? Why is the survivor in this case more important than the killer?
And no, I usually don't win a game with a 3k. It's usually a safe pip or a depip, the game rates this performance as a loss.

No i mean do you message a killer at the end, if they have a bad match to say GG EZ? some do and it's really not nice, i am wondering on why those that do, do?
Like I wrote above: No, I don't write gg ez.
-
I'm not writing "gg ez".
If the killer played "normal" and just had a bad game, I might gift them a kill at the end of the match. Killers can gift hatches, survivors can gift hooks.

That's not the case. I've played killer and got an instant queue with a bunch of rank 1-2s. I've also gotten instant matches at rank 4 on survivor with yellow rank killers. This is not just some "fix".
If it WAS a "fix" for queue times, then queues would not be near instant. Unless they completely removed matchmaking altogether, instead of trying to match people with appropriate ranks, or intentionally put red rank survivors in ranks with lower ranked killers and there just aren't any green or purple ranked survivors, or are very few(which I doubt, especially since someone just mentioned they were in brown ranks and being exclusively matched against purple and green). They however have not announced removing matchmaking, or pitting killers intentionally with people of higher ranks than them.
That's what I'm saying. The system doesn't look anymore to match you within your colour first, then after one or two minutes for the next colour, etc. - matchmaking restrictions clearly got softened to help with queue times. I'm confident it is an intended fix the devs made before everyone went into Christmas vacations. It's not a good fix, but it is most likely intentional.

I strongly dislike the Doc's chase music and would be very happy if I could just switch to the standard one.
Implementing such an option in the settings is a real simple way to make the game more enjoyable for everyone, no matter the person's taste.

I think that they will change the gens or toolboxes after this goes live shortly after...I mean they really have to lol
If they had planned to do it, they would have done it at the same time as the Ruin nerf. Maybe they'll nerf toolboxes as an afterthought, but I don't expect that anything will happen to the gens themselves.
-
Some of these are interesting topics that deserve their own threads. It's a bit difficult to talk about everything in one single thread.
-
I don't think BT is bugged atm, haven't seen people complaining about it. If you are sure that the killer did have a terror radius, then make a bug report.
-
There are so many issues with the Emblem system, this is only one of them. I feel like the Emblem system is a lost case and the devs should come up with something entirely different.

That's not even intentional. They said there's a bug right now where the game incorrectly identifies the killer's rank.
A bug where the game isn't able to see the killer's rank? Going on since last year and the devs are unable to fix? When did they say that?
-
We will see an increase in camping, tunneling, moris, especially with killers that aren't Nurse/Spirit/Hillbilly.

I feel like it is that reason exactly.
And BHVR could've done a lot of things weeks ago, they just usually don't.
But they did act here, they softened the matchmaking restrictions: Now rank 15 killers are getting matched against red rank survs.
-
We won't have more fun when the queue times get even longer. :/

I feel like 4 red ranks vs a rank 14 killer is pretty broken, and that they were thinking of removing the post game ranks is a bad sign.
They have messed with ranking so much that there is no middle ranks, everyone gets to he red ranks cause it's to easy. Lol
I know what you mean, I just wanted to point out that this is intentional and not a bug.
-
@silverwolf4455 said:
This is not a just ps4 issue. It's all platforms. Matchmaking is broken to the point that the devs were gonna remove post game ranks so no one would know but then decided not to. Lol
To be exact, the matchmaking is not "broken". It is intentionally how it is to help shorten the queue times.
-
@PumpkinKing said:
Does anyone know if the devs have talked about this issue at all? Are they aware?
You bet they are aware, this is one of the most discussed issues.
They haven't acknowledged the reason for the long survivor queue times, however. If it was just because of the SWF changes and the easy ranking up for survivors, they could have solved this weeks ago by just removing the matchmaking restrictions.
-
It has been like this for weeks now. It's standard. Not enough people play killer, especially not at the higher ranks.

Red: Many players in Red Ranks, also due to SWF-Changes.
Yellow: According to my friend, who is yellow Rank Killer, he needs far longer than Red Rank Survivor....Soo....
Sorry to hear that your friend has problems finding matches!
That aside, that's not what I'm hearing from others, so it's interesting. Would your friend mind to tell us more details like his rank, his area, his queue time and which ranks he is getting matched against?
-
@NMCKE So the killer should get punished when at least 75% of the team played poorly, instead of one of the survivors?
Because on some maps it's impossible to "defend" exit gates without Whispers. So even if the killer finds the hatch first, it doesn't matter.

Making the 20th post on the same subject is totally fine. The amount of complaints shows how many people are bothered by a problem.

YES I CAN FINALLY BLIND SURVIVORS MIDCHASE
Best idea this week. Give us firecrackers! 🎆
-
They could replace pink & purple keys. 🙂
-
I wrote it already in another thread: I'm afraid it's too late for making ranking up harder. Low-skilled survivors are now used to being red ranks. If the devs would want to take that away from them, the outcry would be big.
I also think this is intended. You make players feel good by leading them to believe they are very good at the game, in hopes that these people will play the game even more.
But we need a good ranking system for a good matchmaking, so probably hope is lost in this case.
-
@Mushwin "Yes I myself get stressed as a killer so I rarely play it, so I don't since I don't overly enjoy and just play either solo surv or swf."
A lot of people feel like you. They either decide to play survivor or another video game.
Those who care about the game will post on the forums, Twitter, Reddit etc. because they want the game to get better. Those who don't really care won't write anything and just silently move on.
Do you prefer those who will just keep quiet and go to another game?

How do you explain, that I suddenly dont get matched with all the Killers I got matched before? Do they play a different DBD now? Not anymore on my Server, even tho we live in the same country?
I mean, its kinda sad to go over some parts of the post, without ignoring the others. Seems like keeping the narrative is more important than having an actual discussion.
The issue of our discussion is: Do we have a good survivor : killer ratio or not? I'm presenting very simple facts.
You could not be getting matched with those people you were facing before because nowadays everybody is getting matched with everybody. This heavily decreases your chances of getting matched against the same people.
"I mean, its kinda sad to go over some parts of the post, without ignoring the others. Seems like keeping the narrative is more important than having an actual discussion."
So, will you now explain why you get instant matches as a killer, no matter whether you are yellow or red?
-
How do you explain that you get instant matches as a killer, no matter whether you are yellow or red?
-
@Aven_Fallen Just look at the facts. Following your logic, green and yellow ranked killers would have long queue times, because the SWF change brought an increased need of red and purple rank killers. But that is not the case. It doesn't matter whether you are a red or yellow killer, you will get your instant match.
And the change didn't happen suddenly. It was a constant development over several months.
-
@Aven_Fallen It's not.
If the survivor : killer ratio was good and just the matchmaking was buggy, both killers and survivors would have long queue times. But that's not the case.
Doesn't matter whether you are playing killer at high ranks or not, you'll get instant lobbies.
Pretending that the problem that people don't want to play killer doesn't exist, won't change anything. No matchmaking algorithm can solve this problem.
The devs already have opened up the matchmaking so that everybody gets matched with everybody, no matter the rank.
-
Bad.
Don't do anything that would scare off more killers. Surv queue times are bad enough.

It's normal when you play killer, sadly. It doesn't matter how you play, you can be super generous, you are still going to get insulted on a regular basis. There is a reason why this community has its reputation.

Wouldn't that enter the subjective field? I mean, if someone clicks the flashlight continuously on me the just want attention cause they think they're good enough to outloop me, I don't find that toxic, but more of a "challenge accepted" request. If someone does anything else than teabagging or DCing I just look at it in a "what are thay trying to say?" kind of way. Wouldn't toxicity would then be subjective to what the killer perceives as "annoying"?
I'm trying to agree with this community about universal toxicity actions, and I can't find another aside fron teabagging and DCing
That's right, the survivor's intention decides whether their behaviour is toxic. Clicking the flashlight or t-bagging mid-game? Could be just to annoy the killer, or could be that the survivor just wants the killer's attention. T-bagging at the exit gate? Definitely just to annoy the killer.
-
Being toxic is when you don't do something to win, but to annoy your opponent.

Either Ruin or NOED needed to go. I’ve seen so many bad players take top tier killers, best add ons, Ruin and NOED and even though they’re garbage players their builds carry them further than they should.
At least with Ruin gone it buys survivors more time to do totems.
What do you think about bad survivors carried by DS, BT, exhaustion perks, items etc.?
-
You aren't the only one, I don't like it, either. One additional point:
I expect even less people to play killer, which means longer surv queue times for us.

PC, Germany, red ranks: surv & killer (I am trying both sides when I cannot find a lobby),
today's total time (2 hours) - surv
This sounds like a bug then. You should get a game as killer pretty quickly, and it would maybe take 5-10 minutes when you try surv. When it lasts significantly longer, cancel the search and start a new one.
-
Just out of interest: Platform? Surv or killer? Rank?
Edit: And area?

I'm curious if there will be an increase in the number of killers who "play for fun" or farm. If that happens, will survivor players be happy or bored? An opponent who's not trying to win isn't going to present the same kind of challenge as one who is trying to win.
I can very well imagine that the number of killers who don't care about pips & bloodpoints will increase. Some killers might play intentionally "toxic" with mori-camping etc. or with annoying meme builds.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
Matchmaking and ranking/pipping should be the first thing fixed in this game before any other balance issues are touched.
How can you balance a game when both experienced and inexperienced players are thrust together?
How can you balance a game when the ranking system allows mediocre survivors to reach red ranks? Experienced players in red ranks are finding that many of their teammates are bad at basic game mechanics.
This is a problem. It's damn near impossible to properly balance a game when you have experienced players stomping inexperienced players due to broken matchmaking and a ranking system that doesn't rank players in a meaningful manner.
(Also, the devs said they decided not to go through with removing rankings from the end game screen. Ranks were still visible on the end game screen in the PTB, so it seems they did scrap that idea... at least for now.)
I'm afraid it's too late for that. Low-skilled survivors are now used to being red ranks. If the devs would want to take that away from them, the outcry would be big.
I also think this is intended. You make players feel good by leading them to believe they are very good at the game, in hopes that these people will play the game even more.
It's like with some brands that put a size M on their clothes instead of a truthful size L, just to make their customers feel better.
-
While DbD is not esports, it's still a PvP game. Like with any other PvP game, the normal thing is that both sides want to win.
And I see it similar: When a killer plays "hard", uses strong perks or a mori, it is frowned upon. If survivors do the same, that's just them playing the game.
It looks like a lot of people want to see the killer in the role of the fun provider for the survivors, nothing more. In this case, it would be better to program an AI and turn DbD into a PvE game.
-
Leatherface for the BBQ perk, because you need the bloodpoints.
If you have a lot of time, learn Nurse, because she is the most powerful. If you don't have that much time, learn Spirit, because she is the 2nd best.
-
Matchmaking itself isn't broken. The ranking system/pipping requirements lead to bad killer : survivor ratios on all ranks.
As a consequence, to help with queue times, matchmaking restrictions have been lifted so that everbody gets matched with everyone - no matter the rank.
Then there is also the problem with not enough people playing killer in general, but that's another issue.
-
Survivor side: If skill checks are too hard, even a rank 20 can cleanse a totem.
Killer side: It is a problem that the big majority of killers at high ranks need Ruin. Just nerfing Ruin doesn't solve the problem, however. It just worsens the situation.
-
I agree that an escape in this case is undeserved. If the hatch wouldn't spawn, we would need an additional mechanic to prevent the last survivor from hiding somewhere on the map & making the match endless.
However, I'm also realistic and know that this is not going to happen.

You have to learn the timing & distance. If the killer already got too close to you, they are going to land a hit, even if you drop the pallet. That is intended.
If the killer already got too close, don't drop/waste the pallet.
