yeah I was gonna say that was quite some time ago. I have a feeling things have shifted but of course I will never know the answer to that unless they say so lol

Mandy recently said the system still functions as 1v1v1v1v1, so I'd say it hasn't changed but can't confidently say

  • I have to say, i do find it amusing that Vigil gets nerfed for countering everything in the same update that we get a killer who is good at countering everything lol

  • I have a screenshot somewhere where Peanits said that voided gains/losses are for the person, not the game. Everyone else will still gain or lose or stay the same based on their outcome because MMR gains/losses is determined on a 1v1 basis. I think for officially released kill/escape rates they leave out matches with those voids. I don't imagine this will change but could be wrong.

  • You should still own them after cross-progression. Hit up Support to get back what you paid for

It should do the opposite honestly. You should gain more MMR points because of certain playstyles. Same with hard tunneling. I've done my fair share of full team slugging when everyone was injured, out of position, and easy to nab. This should raise my MMR even more because I'm not approaching the game casually in these cases. Sweaty tactics should make you sky rocket.

But I do fear it's the opposite if they're going on your ability to spread hooks. If that's the case, the wincon should also be changed to hook amounts.

Yeah I think currently that's how it works, and often why people who use certain playstyles quickly end up against opponents who can handle them better. Just curious as to whether the new changes now mean the opposite

  • Peanits once said that how much MMR you can gain is a thing. Would it be accurate to assume that kills via slugging may not net someone as much gain as if they 12 hooked everyone instead?

  • I've always been against it because sound is such an important aspect of this game. From Myers breathing, Ghostface's cloak flapping, Huntress wind up noise, Wraith gurgling, Springtrap clanking, etc etc. Being in a swf means linking up with like-minded folk with similar goals and motivations. Solo is nothing like that. The people that love the sound of their own voice, the bossy people who want to take charge and order everyone around, the edge lord teenager, the troll.... these are the people you will have in your ear when you're trying to pick up sounds and tells that enable you to actually play the game.

I don't understand why the developers would announce that something is a gameplay experience issue that they intend to address, and then ignore it. Do they think it stopped being an issue? Is the huge difference in killer and survivor queue times not an indication that something needs to be materially done to address the survivor experience, of which they've repeatedly said tunneling is one of the foremost reasons people uninstall?

A chat wheel isn't going to protect me or my teammates from these things. Why should survivors be expected to have the coordination of a competitive level discord channel just to be able to actually play the game? It's just going to be another excuse to blame survivors for not playing perfectly instead of giving them the opportunity to even play at all.

They said they think the SBMM update will help alleviate issues. All folks can do at this point is give their feedback on that.

  • @NeverSolus said:

I just ignore the anti tox maneuver. All it does, ironically, is incentivize cocky and toxic survivors to be more toxic and cocky as they do it anyway with an air of '*I'll take your debuff because you aren't #)*%% anyway.*'

It's kind of hilariously more toxic than other killers.

Yeah I called this the moment i heard about it lol adding an anti-BM mechanic is like sticking up a big flashing billboard that says KILLERS HATE THIS, PLEASE DON'T DO IT. Of course people are gonna do it even more now.

  • I think crashes are happening for everyone. I was playing Freddy yesterday and there were frequent survivor DCs, at random moments without me even interacting with them. The odd DC is normal, but this was an unusual amount. I don't think it's related to the killer, perhaps that was just a coincidence.

  • Possibly. She's not really an instant gratification killer so I wouldn't be surprised if she's had a quick drop in players

  • It's not coming. They've confirmed this. They won't be addressing tunnelling at all

  • The fact that you're complaining about not being able to aim at hooks says alot

  • Guess it depends which streamers you watch. I've already seen several of them mastering her quite well. I'm on controller and generally lack the motivation to master anything, but even I've done okay with her. I'm only really struggling with close-up hits with her light so usually fall back on M1. Far and medium distance hits though aren't difficult to get the hang of. And that was with playing her with no perks too as I was just trying to get a feel for her power and kept forgetting to equip any. I can't see myself playing her much in future, if at all, but I definitely think she's a perfectly viable killer albeit a bit niche.

That’s what the “consultant network” was supposed to be for, but based on some baffling past decisions, I’m not how much of the consultant feedback they actually listen to.

Could be the opposite. Maybe the consultants give bad feedback? We know a number of content creators are on the consultancy program, which I've said countless times i think is a conflict of interest as their feedback could be motivated by their content as opposed to the health of the game.

They definitely have enough money to create and fund a team of in-house playtesters if they don't have one already, and I feel like there's been a few instances where just playing an hour of real games against something new would immediately reveal things that need to be killswitched/hotfixed.

It's simply a matter of money and how most corpo's don't value Q/A anymore because players don't really care about it anymore (but will still complain.)

Not to victim-blame though, its still entirely BHVR's fault, but money talks.

They do. They have a consultancy group who playtest for them. Where do you think all those past leaks were coming from? The leaks aren't as bad now so i guess they figured out who it was. They've also said countless times that they do play the game every day at the office, but obviously they would have deadlines on other things too.

  • Okay so this is why Hyperfocus is suddenly popular

The day mine arrived, I got an email saying that the package would be delayed. I then received an email saying that it was finally shipping… The day after I already got it.

I'm just glad that I saw the delivery guy as he was leaving. This was not something that I would want sitting on the porch for longer than necessary.

That's... interesting lol but good to know! So basically it could show up at any point over the next month

From what i understand this wont ever happen, so any change to mmr is meaningless because ignored by matchmaking so streamers get their 1000+ win in row against newbies, rarely encountering any good player. This also means the majority of the playerbase should be low mmr, and the game balances around the top 10% survivor players with communication and being premade, with thousand of hours.

They have tightened matchmaking before and, predictably, experienced players hate playing against other experienced players. They prefer weaker opponents. So there were loud complaints and YouTube videos. They also had a testing phase once and the preferred level/s of matchmaking for a lot of folks unfortunately increased queue times for others (ie low and high MMR).

  • It's really boring and ugly too. The TWD tile was interesting the first time but after awhile you just start to question why a small unique tile even needed its own map

  • I'd rather they do their work while at work, and relax in their spare time. I can just imagine the comments on these streams would be telling them to hurry up and fix (insert bug)

People don't like Clown cause he's ugly and people don't like Freddy cause his power is boring, not to mention he's kinda average. I've never seen anyone say Vigil was the reason they don't like these killers. Even when they overtuned Clowns yellow bottles and no one used the purple, people still weren't playing Clown.

Oi! He's not boring and average lol but i can confirm that Vigil has never bothered me personally

An obvious joke taken way out of context. It boggles me that everyone takes this as gospel truth and not see it for what it is. Just a joke. Being blown way out of proportion.

Don't think it was a joke, however i do think it was an example given off-handedly. I don't think it's a solid indication that they are literally balancing around streamers being able to chat while playing. I do know 'i don't like (insert thing) because of the effect on my streaming' is not a new sentiment among content creators, so I do hope that it's not something that BHVR take into consideration even a little bit when making decisions. Especially since a lot of their consultants are DBD streamers.

  • I wonder if the upcoming SBMM changes mean Twins are gonna be seen more in low MMR now. I imagine slugging isn't going to gain much MMR

  • Congrats! I dusted Xeno off recently (it's been awhile) and been enjoying her. Kind of taken a brief break though as I decided to try the Blue Prince game and now I'm addicted 😅

  • This specific change, maybe not. There's a streamer on their consultancy program who made a video a few years back saying he was against tighter matchmaking because it makes it harder to engage with his chat. He was talking from a killer perspective though, which I imagine makes the difference when it comes to which changes certain streamers like and dislike. On the flipside, I would imagine a streamer who mostly plays survivor would prefer tighter matchmaking because then they get better team mates. So perspective matters.

  • Years ago a popular streamer had a video outlining why he's against better matchmaking, and a reason was because it's too hard to engage with his chat if he's against players on his own level. I've never forgotten it because it just seemed so ridiculous to me. I'm sorry but yes, if you are multitasking then your game will be harder to play. That's the way it goes. If you're eating with one hand and playing with the other then your game will be more difficult. If you're watching a YouTube video in the background, your game will be more difficult. If your kids are screaming in your ear, your game will be more difficult.

I think you misunderstood the point I am making, I am not implying that there should never be a balance or a change made to the game. I am saying that It has reached a stale point of people complaining about one change or another regardless of what the devs push forward and I would like to see the Devs be decisive and vocal about what kind of game DBD will be going forward. I believe there's plenty of room for some unbalance in DBD because it just isn't setup to be hardcore competitive, but that doesn't mean that there should just be a whole bunch of nonsense either. It's just that it feels like we get very little in the way of actual gameplay expansion and that plays into the general feeling of frustration a lot of people (myself included) are voicing.

"I would like to see the Devs be decisive and vocal about what kind of game DBD will be going forward"

They used to be like that. I don't know when it changed, but they used to update things as they wanted and just let people ######### about it. That's not to say they didn't adjust according to feedback, but they'd have an idea about the direction they wanted to take the game and they'd take it. Somewhere along the line they stopped making the hard decisions themselves and just decided to be led.

  • @Xendritch said:

I did not realize the reason BHVR gave for these nerfs was something basically to the effect of "strimmers would be talking to their chat and not have a chance to dodge the beam" and like are you serious right now?

This is a PvP video game, yes you should be forced to pay attention to the player trying to kill you. I don't think it's going to make Judgement unplayable although I do think these changes are unnecessary but this is way more alarming for the indicating BHVR's overall thought process. Like is BHVR really out here trying to make survivor as autopilot as possible for STREAMERS?! That's like 5-10% of the playerbase if I'm being generous and it's dictating balance for everyone. If streamers cannot dodge a beam because they are not paying attention that is what we like to call a "skill issue" which has a remedy of "getting good" and it should not be a burden placed on nonstreamer killer players that is ridiculous.

Their consultancy group is full of popular streamers. How BHVR don't see the conflict of interest, I don't know.

I haven't gotten anything and it's annoying. Not getting notification in advance of something being shipped is hugely problematic. I like to know when to expect things. They said we're going to get an email, but lots of people are reporting the package just showing up.

Yeah I've seen people saying they just randomly received it too. I'd prefer to be able to track it so I can see if something happens in transit, especially since the delay is apparently because of a typhoon lol

    @Linkdouken said:

I have had this email -

    10th Anniversary Art

    Hello everyone,

We're reaching out with an update on the Dead by Daylight 10th Anniversary Collector's Set.

Back in June, we shared that production had been completed and that the Collector's Sets were preparing to leave the factory. At that time, we also explained that shipping delays had pushed us beyond our original June delivery target, and we were aiming to have sets in your hands during August.

Today, we want to provide another update and apologize to those of you whose Collector's Set won't arrive in August as we had hoped.

The good news is that all Collector's Sets are now in transit, and we currently expect all orders to be delivered by the end of September. While many customers are still on track to receive their set in August or early September, some deliveries have been pushed later than expected due to recent shipping disruptions.

We know you've been waiting a long time for this, and we understand how frustrating it is to see the timeline move again after our last update.

    What happened?

The good news is that production is complete.

The challenge has been getting the Collector's Sets across the ocean.

Over the past several weeks, multiple typhoons in the Asia-Pacific region impacted major shipping routes and delayed several vessels carrying inventory to our fulfillment warehouses in North America and Europe. While some shipments remained on schedule, others were forced to slow down or take alternative routes, creating knock-on delays throughout the shipping process.

The impact was smaller than originally feared, but unfortunately it was enough to push some customer deliveries beyond August.

What does this mean for your order?

A large number of orders will arrive during the first half of September, and the remaining orders are expected to arrive later in September. Some customers are still expected to receive their Collector's Set before the end of August.

As soon as your order leaves your regional warehouse, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information so you can follow its journey all the way to your doorstep.

TL:DR: At this time, we expect all Collector's Sets to be delivered by the end of September.

    Thank You

We know this Collector's Set has been a long time coming.

It was created to celebrate an incredible milestone: 10 years of Dead by Daylight and the community that has made that journey possible. We don't take your patience for granted, and we're incredibly grateful for the support you've shown throughout this process.

Thank you for sticking with us, and thank you for being part of the Dead by Daylight community.

    See you in The Fog,

    The Dead by Daylight Team

I got the same! The bit about being notified is what confused me lol

Do you find it sometimes hard sometimes to keep survivors asleep since they can use any alarm to quickly wake plus with the immunity timer?

Since it's a mostly passive ability, I don't give it too much thought. There are add ons that can help if it's a concern for you though

  • Indeed i do!

I dunno if I play him to his fullest potential, as I'm not competitive, but i perform just fine with him. He's not difficult to learn, has great map traversal, good at zoning, and his snares are great in chase. I'm surprised more folks don't play him tbh.

over here in the US its 4 minutes to que for killer. Logged on to see that and then immediately hopped off to play something else.

8 minutes where i am. This is the time of day I usually play and it has never been this long.

  • Agree. Question, did you get a shipping notification when yours sent? Everyone seems to be getting theirs but i don't even have a notification mine has been sent

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I suffered with this quite hard in 2020/2021, after years of playing it all suddenly hit up until 2025-ish. I'd be playing my absolute best to win, took it as a personal failure if I lost, and overall while I still called myself a killer main there would be a lot more occasions of me opening the game, sitting in the lobby, deciding I didn't want to do it today (and didn't want to touch solo queue with a 10m pole) and closed dbd to play something else. It was at its worse easily in 2022/2023.

But at some point it all just clicked that none of this… matters? DBD is a video game, and it's a video game I care a lot about, and it's a video game I've put a lot of time and effort into getting good at, but it stays a game. I have a life, I have a job, I have people beyond the screen; who actually is going to care if I don't 4k every game? People telling me to jump used to affect me really badly, and now I just feel sorry for them, because I remember what it was like to care this much about a game. Who cares if you get called a sweat by someone you've never met, and will never meet again?

I appreciate this sounds like I'm saying "just grow a pair" in flowery language, so let me clarify I don't just mean to toughen up or anything. But the thing that helped me was realising that it just genuinely did not matter. I'll do more in my life than anyone who sits behind a screen all day insulting people and you can too.

DBD is just a video game. The other people are just playing a video game. There's no real stakes, there's no life or death situation, your family aren't at risk if someone calls you a tryhard; so honestly, who cares what they think?

"But at some point it all just clicked that none of this… matters?"

Yup. No one is gonna be talking about our win rates at our funerals lol nothing about this game needs to be taken personally. We can't change the behaviour of other people, we can only change how we react to it. I choose indifference.

  • I'd actually be down for a hide and seek mode, but not for Lights Out. Small map, remove all means of tracking (ie use eyes and map knowledge only), and of course no lockers because no one wants to spend 10 minutes searching lockers.

  • People would just lobby dodge until they found a lobby where they could get the class they wanted. This would cause queue times to accumulate even higher.

  • I was meh on her until I watched you play lol you made her look easy. I'm sure I'm in for a rude awakening but looking forward to trying!

It’s not a guaranteed ban, not even close. I’ve reported many people for death wishes, racial/homophobic slurs, etc and not a single report has gotten a response from BHVR. In my experience it’s guaranteed that you won’t get banned for that kind of stuff.

It can take them awhile. I got a notification a couple days ago about a report I made, and I legit can't even remember the last time I made a report. I'm on console, so it had to have been for something that happened in a match and it's been a long time since I bothered getting evidence of in-game shenanigans

anonymity isn't the only factor, the total lack of consequences is equally as important a component

i'm not even talking about bans specifically, bhvr never discuss the bigotry and toxicity problems they cultivate, never make a point of telling people acting that way is unacceptable, and never make statements about any plan to address them

I can't speak for them, but i imagine they don't give too much energy to it because that sort of acknowledgement just motivates trolls. They crave attention and reactions. Like back when POC streamers were being targeted by hackers wearing the old Claudette face-mask on Bubba, the devs didn't make a big announcement iirc. They simply removed the masks.

I'll at least give Myers a pass since even though I hate Slaughtering Strike since its just a power crept Hillbilly power, Tuft of Hair restores his old kit and I do prefer the stance system over the old stalking mechanic since you get to toggle stealth on and off instead of lose it quickly.

In regard to Pig, her RBTs are her built-in slowdown which is what made her decent in defense since it forces people away from gens and buys her time. You can prefer Ambush over the RBTs, but they have stripped away a lot of their power to the point where she can't even see her boxes anymore to patrol them, and we almost had their duration increased to 3 minutes from 2 1/2.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4108489#Comment_4108489

As someone whose been on the receiving end of getting Kagune'd through stuff, I will put this on the fact that Ghoul is the only killer in the game rn with a hitscan power.

It's not that I prefer Ambush, it's that I prefer RBTs working passively in the background as slowdown. Head pops are simply a nice bonus when they happen (i do like to encourage them though, my preferred add ons are Tampered Timer and Rule Set No 2). When it comes to Pig, I doubt that future changes will involve both Ambush and RBTs. It'll be one or the other imo. I feel like them removing her being able to see boxes was intentionally done because the devs want people to focus on untrapped survivors, in which case I'd hope any buffs revolve around improving chase so she can more efficiently focus on the untrapped.

  • @coldflame said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4108485#Comment_4108485

can you explain what exactly is overpowered about ghoul compared to any of the actual top tiers?

he has a free injure and a decent mobility power, but otherwise he's basically pure m1. theres like a dozen insanely good ghoul players who can fairly reliably chain power into m1 but they are not the ghoul you are meeting regularly in soloq

most games i play against ghoul i see soloq players who simply do not revault, do not predrop against him, heal constantly, and try run for distance instead of employing any of his counterplay. i'm not even sure what you can do to nerf the guy without totally reworking him, he simply doesn't have much going for him

Never said anything about overpowered, i said power creep. And re Ghoul - getting hit constantly through walls every game was enough for me to put my controller down. I've heard this has been fixed but my interest in survivor is gone, so I don't need Ghoul advice.

  • @Aznex said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4108196#Comment_4108196

One quote from Otz is a good one to apply here: S tiers like Nurse should not be the template for killer balance because you will have no way to give someone like Trapper a Dash or Teleport and justify it not killing their identity. Slaughtering Strike is a prime example of this.

If any killer imo should be the template for killer balance, let it be Wesker. He is a perfect mix of strong and fun.

I do wanna add to this saying I really hope my girl Pig can get a buff to her RBTs. It genuinely seems like every time they buff her it's always towards her Ambush special attack when her main source of pressure is her RBTs which get progressively weaker with each change.

Yeah Myers was one of my most played killers until his rework. IMO they ruined what made him unique.

Disagree re Pig though (another of my mains). I prefer they improve her chase and leave her RBTs passive

  • @Rogue11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4108192#Comment_4108192

I don't think buffing every killer to Jason/Ghoul/Drac levels is going to raise survivor morale the way you think it will. I very much don't think it will.

Have to agree. I'm only one person, but i quit survivor completely for several months after Ghoul's release. When i started playing it again, it was only for quests because i realized in that several month break that the easiest way to counter the power creep was just to avoid playing against it lol I can't give advice on what I think would draw me back to the role because honestly I'm too apathetic at this point. It is what it is.

  • Thing is, this is not a DBD thing. This is an anonymity of the internet thing. Every situation where someone can hide safely behind a screen will have some nastiness involved. BHVR do hand out bans for post-game chat bs (a popular streamer recently copped a temp ban for saying ######### in chat) but someone will always be there to replace them. Kids and adults who never learned to control their emotions will always exist and unfortunately the rest of us have to share space with them.

  • Probably a good way for them to gauge how well it's going upon release. If 100% of players have it toggled on, then that number starts dropping more and more, they'll know something is wrong and can ask why people are opting out.

  • I think this is great (always solo when I play survivor). I love that we can customise it, as i prefer a quick crouch to say thanks than scroll a wheel lol

  • Lights Out was last week, and it was the first time we've seen it in 2 years. Perhaps that brought some people back to the game and they're sticking around for 2v8 too, so there's even more folks queued up for killer than previous iterations. My theory anyway.

1 2 3 4 … 149
