44 million is only a number. Without the rate to which you gain bp, it's meaningless. I make greater than 18 million every chapter cycle without playing much at all. Someone just starting out would focus on characters that give the perks they want and gather the rest when needed.
What is the goal of most players playing DBD? Having all perks? All characters P3, P6, P9, P100? I doubt it. There's no need to unlock even half the perks.
To get the perks one wants is to level at most 4 characters to P1. Is that such a daunting task? Really? Should everything be unlocked at the forefront? The lost of interest would be staggering. Certainly wouldn't see many players over a thousand hours.
4 characters? I'm assuming you mean because of meta perks? I feel like the health and longevity of the game would benefit more from all perks being more easily accessible as opposed to a handful of meta perks that everyone is sick of seeing. Because yes, having perks to play around with is kind of a thing in DBD.
18 million every 3 months. At an average of 25k a match that's several hundred matches. I'm happy that you have that much time on your hands, genuinely.
If the grind isn't so bad, then why are you here saying people should just settle for less? Play only one survivor? Bet that would be great for cosmetic sales.
"Should everything be unlocked at the forefront?"
Literally never said that, but go off ✌️

The grind to all characters P3 is not that daunting. It's not even necessary to enjoy the game. For survivor mains it's even easier as you just level one survivor while P1 the rest.
You wouldn't know how daunting current DBD is or isn't. Plenty of newcomers have said the grind is too much and I take their word for it. It's approx 1 million per prestige, so 44 million just to P1 all the survivors. And since alot of people enjoy both roles, they're likely to divide their bloodpoint earnings.
Between work, family, sports, and social commitments, people have limited time to spend in games. And often they're playing multiple games at the same time. I would imagine they'd be more likely to just give up DBD than commit to the grind. You feel the opposite, so I guess we agree to disagree.

Nah, if is where it is because not enough support is shown.
I for one feel BP is more than enough for now. People grinding out multiple P100s kind of proves it. Me, who doesn't play as much, am able to P9 the killer and survivor every chapter. By as much is about one match a day.
For people to say the grind is too much now, are looking at the finish line from the start. They don't want to play the game long term, just every once in a while with no investment. Which is fine for them but bad for the game as a whole. Without a goal to reach, there's no reason to play. If people don't play, bhvr doesn't make money. If bhvr doesn't make money the game stops development and dies.
Were we having this discussion a few years ago i would have been in full agreement. But we are 54 survivors and 44 killers deep at this point. It's easy for those of us who were fortunate to start when there was far less to tell newcomers to put in the grind. The time commitment is a heck less daunting when you've had a head start. You and I are probably prime examples of players who have everything we need unlocked yet keep playing, so would helping others catch up really hurt player retainment?

Just looks like they downvoted a Dev trying to listen.
The context to what they are saying in that post must be unpopular. So better bloodpoint rewards is not needed as current BP gains must be fine.
I would have downvoted for the "if the overall sentiment is" bit, because we are years in on the discussion around bloodpoints and the grind that no dev should be asking "if" at this point

I think he's fine, personally. Lots of people seem to feel he gets his power too consistently, so worst case they might decrease the orb frequency or something, but remove him? Not necessary imo

"where you fall from a height and land on the killer superman style to stun them"
The image of this is hilarious

What you see on Twitch and youtube is ragebait/engagement bait. It's people with like 90%+ killrates telling their viewers that the game is working against them and it's swf/perks/etc fault. Because that's what gets views and makes them money. You can usually pick who bases their opinion on what they've seen in a youtube video because they all use similar sentences or phrases. Or when a new hot video comes out and we get a bunch of new accounts here all complaining about the same thing.
-
I'll be honest, i didn't even realize it was that big now. It doesn't seem to have impacted my games from what i can tell, i just assumed they got unhooked by a team mate. I think 24m would have been a better compromise. If what Mozo said is true then place the blame where it lies - the people hanging around hook in the dark last iteration.
-
My comfort builds
Freddy - Corrupt, Brutal, Zanshin, Batteries (add ons: Red Paint Brush, Swing Chains)
Pig - Corrupt, THWACK, Plaything, Surveillance (add ons: Rule Set No 2, Tampered Timer. I prioritise untrapped survivors, so prefer add ons to help passively pressure the trapped ones)
Survivor - Empathic Connection, Empathy, Resurgence, Babysitter. Item is whatever i feel like.
Couldn't tell you my kill/escape rate as I don't use the stats site, but I win more than I lose as killer. Don't play survivor much anymore but I'd put my escape rate around the 40% mark.

Damn, we did well! What a great effort. Thanks for sharing!

Games should be fun. If readying up for a match made me feel unwell there's no way I'd be playing. Hiding chat and playing anonymously will help with your specific issues. But if you do see comments of that nature then report the person in-game. Unfortunately being able to hide behind a screen makes people feel brave enough to say stuff they'd be too cowardly to say to your face. Let them seethe over a game, you just report and move on.
-
Damn, that sucks. For me, Nurse makes me nauseous, and I can't play or watch anyone else play Blight as it gives me a headache. That recent Nurse skin from the last Rift also made me feel sick when I went against her. Just the sound she makes. Considering there's a lot of people who have struggled for years with the vomiting against Plague, I can't see them making changes.
-
I'd go with option 3. When they say it's working, they likely mean it's working in the way they intend. Obviously the feedback from the general playerbase is that we don't like how it currently works, so they've made the decision to adjust it.

The thing is, elitism already exists. You can see it with MMR. People claim that they are at the highest MMR and if your experience does not match their experience, you are at low MMR. And it already happened years ago that people demanded proof that you are at Rank 1.
I think it is more the way how people who want to complain or ask for Nerfs approach this. E.g. I see people complain about Pallet Density and then see a video of them breaking every single Pallet, even the most useless ones. If such a video would be posted here, you would get completely different reactions depending on how the overall post is structured.
"OMG THE DEVS ARE SO SURVIVOR SIDED DBD DEAD GAME SOON" with a video of poor Killer gameplay will most likely not be positive for the OP.
But if the same video gets posted with something like "Hey, I am really struggling on Map X, there are just too many Pallets and the Gens get done too quickly. Am I doing something wrong or is this Map survivor-sided?", you would get way different responses because people would be more willing to help.
For example OhTofu did a series years ago where you could submit bad games and he would review them and tell you what to improve. Those were things like giving up in chases too quickly or being too stubborn in a chase, taking chases into Deadzones or kicking low progress Gens before starting a Chase and similar things. And I feel you can get feedback like this on the Forums as well, if you are not just complaining or ranting.
I didn't know he used to do that. It'd be great to have a How Can I Improve sort of space for newcomers. I feel like CCs are so caught up in ragebaiting that it's a niche that's not being explored
-
Dunno if it's possible, but it'd be great if in endgame there were a "leave me" option, because i hate the back and forth hook trading or multiple people dying to save one.
-
Got some good info so far, like chat wheel incoming
-
The team that does cosmetics is not the same team that does balance changes.
The devs have also explained that they are given limited bandwidth from the platforms and they have to book updates in advance for approval. This affects the rate at which we see balance changes in amongst everything else

I understand it's not a fan favourite like 2v8, but I'm really hoping all the criticism doesn't lead to them axing it completely. Would it really be so bad if they brought it back just for one week each summer? That's going to be more a BHVR 'how many people are actually playing it' evaluation than any of our opinions. If people are playing, it doesn't really matter what we say.
Yup. If it was based on complaints we'd never see 2v8 again lol
-
There's a reason we haven't seen it in a couple years lol I find it easier to play as killer (in general, following the pools of blood and listening for sounds is enough on most of the maps for tracking purposes) but it's by far my least favourite mode. Great for getting the Rift grab quest completed at any rate.
-
It's not realistic. But i do agree with your sentiment. I think too many people look for stuff to blame when they dont get the outcome they wanted, because it's easier than accepting they played badly or their opponent/s were just the better player. It's why even when whatever nerf they want goes through they always suddenly find something else they want nerfed.
-
-
I mean, not everyone uses Hyperfocus + Stake Out. So this doesn't make sense. There's no reason for the devs to compensate for those two perks. I could just as easily argue that the speed boost is to compensate for all the time survivors need to spend actually finding gens in this mode as they're tricky to see visually (and killers can kick away the 5% sound progress at the start of the match). But I do realize some people take the word of content creators as gospel since they have no comprehension skills of their own, so this will probably fall on deaf ears.
-
She's definitely one of the trickier (imo) killers to learn to counter. I imagine she has a pretty high kill rate in lower MMR brackets. She has directional phasing to help predict where she is coming in from, but I've personally never been able to work it out that well. I don't think my brain is wired that way. Her phasing has a limit, so if you have distance then holding W can be effective enough. If she's close, then try and be unpredictable in your movements (also be wary of your environment as grass can give away your location). Crouching also lowers the volume of your cries if injured, so you can try throwing some of those in too when she's close and trying to pinpoint your location. This can sometimes result in a missed hit. If you own her yourself, then hop into a customs match and play as her against the bots so you can get a feel for her add-ons and what she sees on her end.
But at the end of the day, a good player is a good player, and they win a lot as a result. There might be nothing you can do that throws off a good Spirit.
-
Most people seem to be forgoing the lanterns now anyway. I guess they figure the trade off (auras in exchange for being easier to see) isn't worth it afterall. People complain too prematurely, as always.

This is a good suggestion. Like an actual practice mode

this is why survivor queues are 49 seconds and killer queues are 9 minutes. because it's so very survivor sided everybody wants to play killer.
Legit though, that's why I'm browsing on here lol I haven't played survivor yet so can't talk to how "sided" it actually is. But it's fun so I'm playing. Good headphones go a long way too.
-
I'm playing Pig and having a blast. And there's no point reminiscing about "last time" because there's literally a reason we haven't seen this mode in 2 years. Everyone dropped it after a day.
-
As someone who spreads hooks, I'd rather see STB than a multitude of other perks. Perhaps it's a strong perk against certain playstyles, but the same can be said for alot of other perks. For example, Distortion and Self Preservation would seem OP to those who run full aura builds, but to those of us who don't we barely notice them. Reassurance would be pretty hated by someone running an anti-heal build. I know a Henry main who loathes SB + Vigil lol and i get it. However you play your game, there's a perk/s that is guaranteed to piss someone off. It's the nature of the game. I don't think STB is a strong perk at all, but then it takes very little from the way I play. We need variety because otherwise everyone falls into line and ends up playing the same way, and that's boring asf.
-
Ego. A 3k + hatch is still a killer win. I couldn't imagine wasting my time, and the time of two other people, for something that matters so little. No one's gonna be talking about my 4ks at my funeral. No one cares.
-
People who rage in this game never learned to manage their emotions appropriately. It's not the role. They likely rage in other aspects of their life too.
-
Making the best of a crappy build is kind of the fun of this mode. It's totally fine not to enjoy that sort of thing though, which is why regular mode is still available
-
I dunno about extra basekit chests, but perhaps any chest activation perks automatically spawn an extra?
-
Last time it was indeed mostly Legion and Doctor (and Legion's KI did work). This community likes to bleat about "the point of the mode!" while simultaneously taking advantage of every method by which to avoid it lol

I’m Australian and get put into Asian servers frequently, The reason Jason has a lower kill rate is Asian server is more than likely just because Asian server survivors are incredibly good at the game and take it more seriously. The difference between playing a game on Australian servers and then an Asian server game is very obvious.
And they definitely aren’t selfish like some of the comments here have been wondering. They arent altruistic in the way Western servers are with flashlights and throwing games by body blocking for no reason. However they play well together and Shoulder the Burden is a VERY common perk.
(Do note this is SEA servers I’m talking about, I don’t know how Japan and Korean servers are)
Can confirm. I'm in Western Australia and often wind up over on the SEA servers. On that server they're less likely to play risky for sure, in that you're unlikely to see them trying to "hide" nearby injured and moaning loud asf with a flashlight in hand. They don't ignore team mates in need, they just don't care to make stupid plays because they'd prefer to survive. On the flipside, on the Aussie server, people don't care if they die doing something stupid, they'll take the risk on the chance of pulling off a good play.

Keep fighting the good fight for Portia 👊

"And the crazy part? Most of the complaints about exhaustion perks are coming from streamers with a 95% plus kill rate"
One thing you need to understand about content creators is that views = $$. The reason they complain as loud as they do is not because they need perks nerfed, it's because they know their audience. They know that newcomers, or those struggling with the game, will gravitate towards their streams and content. So they tell them what they want to hear in order to keep them engaged and to keep them watching - namely that the game works against them, that there's nothing more they can improve on and the issue is actually (insert perk, etc). Because if people keep watching, then the content creator keeps making money. This is why they complain so hard despite playing this game with enough ease while maintaining such good results. They're telling their viewers whatever they think their viewers need to hear in order to keep watching.
Hens was honest about this not long ago, saying he is a content creator first, and a DBD player second. Content and views are their priority.
-
It's always been a good way to highlight how reliant some people have become on certain perks or add-ons. I've always enjoyed this mode, personally, on both sides.

So you did not improve a single bit and blame SWF for your losses? Even after 5 years?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/271023/ban-swf
Try to look at your own gameplay and if you REALLY, REALLY cannot do anything better. And I am very sure that you will notice that you were not playing as good as possible. And I can only repeat what I have written there already:
"If you really think it is completely impossible to win against SWFs, you are probably not good at playing Killer.
I am a mediocre Killer at best and even I manage to 4K 4 man SWFs, because most SWFs are just casual groups. Unless you want to claim you go against tournament SWFs all the time, but this would be a pretty obvious lie."
And every word of this is true, even 5 years later.
Damn. 5 years and still didn't learn these "specific killers"

Can't even compare them. Lethal a one time use at the start if the game to value from the other half of the perk you must have an aura perk, lightborn there for people with eye issues, Ruin a hex that can easily be destroyed and must chase survivors off gens to get value, and corrupt a one time use at the start of the game that last a set time or get first down. Sprint Burst gives value at any point of the match for doing absolutely nothing other than run to trigger it.
You can compare them when the initial point was that perks shouldn't give value without activation requirements. If we go down that route then LP, CI, and LB will definitely be dragged into the firing line, as much as folks like to "but but but"

Are you a bot? They canceled all the Anti tunnel changes except for a few exta seconds of endurance that they just came out in saying they want to remove next update and the pallets are hot garbage. In case you are brand new to the game the pallets are very unsafe, which would be fine if the devs did not literally bend over backwards to gift killers free kills by making hit registration only matter on killers side. There may be slightly more pallets but they are weaker and largely unsafe due to as previously mentioned all the free kills the devs decided killers need.
They're not a bot but they are brand new. I've seen them posting on the reddit sub and they've only been playing for 3 months. They've had zero experience regarding what they're talking about.
-
I play during the day and the current killer queue times are abnormal. Several months ago I'd wait max of 1-2 minutes, now it's anywhere from 4-6 minutes. Sometimes longer. In the evenings it was instant but now it's around 1-2 minutes. The cause of it is up for debate, whether there's less people queuing up for survivor these days or maybe they're messing with matchmaking again like they have in the past (which notoriously messes with queue times), who knows. But it's definitely not normal for killer queues in all the years I've played.
-
It's got nothing to do with "sides". I believe most players actually do play both sides (with preference, of course), and as QwQw has said above, there are plenty of survivor takes that get downvotes. Things like recent announcements/updates, tribalistic takes, poorly worded posts or repeating of what others have said rather than creating an individual or unique discussion, can contribute to downvotes.
-
I would assume a few factors will play into it, but the primary ones will probably be hooks and chases.

I'm mostly a killer main and in almost some of my killer matches i end up going against toxic survivors or survivors who constantly tea bag, try to blind me with their flashlights, or say extremely hateful things in endgame chat, it gets on my nerves sometimes to the point where i just view myself as a bad killer player if every generator gets done, survivors escape and i either get one kill or no kills at all and i sometimes get pretty tilted in endgame chat and my anger takes over, how do i honestly stop taking this game so seriously because my mindset is constantly just "I HAVE TO WIN, IF I DON'T WIN, I'M JUST A BAD KILLER MAIN AND I SHOULD JUST UNINSTALL AND THIS GAME IS JUST FULL OF TOXIC SURVIVORS!"
No one can tell you how to do this. It's something that you need to work on yourself. Start by recognising that it's just a game, has no real world implications, and a win or a loss reflects absolutely nothing on you as a person. Also, if you watch any content creators that drill the sort of mentality you're trying to get away from then stop watching them. Their job is getting views and part of that is engagement baiting.

except the gen was at 5% so you could hear it if you wanted to fumble in the dark instead of using a candle
And you still have that option this time around. Survivors will only get aura reading when holding a candle, and killers will get Franklin's (not sure if this has been released officially or if we are all inadvertently discussing leaks here, but basekit Franklin's is in this mode so killers can remove aura reading from survivors)
-
You could always see gen and hook auras as killer, so there were points of reference and it wasn't as disorientating. As survivor, there was nothing. You couldn't even see the auras of downed or hooked team mates. People forget how unpopular this mode actually was. It was more frustrating than fun, that's why everyone stopped playing it and we haven't seen it in 2 years. Having something to guide you so you can actually play might actually keep people playing this time around.
I dunno if most of the people complaining weren't actually here the first time around or have short memories.
