  • Any chance the last time you played that character was during the winter event? It might have been sitting in your initial web when you spent your bp

  • "why can't I just give survivors the win and DC?"

I like how you start by saying the penalty hasn't reduced the amount of DCs, then say the penalty stops you from DCing lol

For morsel invisibility they make a tinkling sound in addition to breathing and footsteps. They also have collison. I've hit them while invisible. At the very least, you can hear them enough to stay around them until it wears off.

The portals, though, are a bigger issue. They're the only thing I think is truly busted on survivor in this mode. Everything else is manageable but these pre-run to portal matches make me want to give up.

Also if there's grass then you see it moving when they're invisible. There's a number of tells. When all else fails, I just back up a bit and count down lol

  • If i had a penny for every time Hinako has messed up her arm...

  • Except basekit buffs for killers and perk buffs for survivors aren't comparable. The grind is real for new players, it can take some time for people to buy and unlock perks. If perks are necessary in order to combat stronger killers then it risks negatively affecting player retention.

Devs dont punish it. That's why. You can tell all sorts of things in the end game chat on PC and most you'll receive is a filter. I dont know of anyone that got banned from being toxic.

They should take lesson from league of legends. That game had a far worse community but the devs put a heavy hand on it. Trolling, toxic communication, all of it is swiftly punished.

Sure, they couldnt punish insults outside of the game, but those apps have their own systems.

Let's see if the insults will remain when their accounts with hundreds of dollars spent are on the line.

At the very least, there should be an end game chat ban.

A streamer just finished a temporary ban for talking ######### in post-game chat. So they seemingly do dole out punishments at least once in awhile.

  • On the PS app I was able to set it so only friends could message me, might be worth looking into. This way I don't have to deal with the weirdos who can't move on after a game.

You would think so but I honestly doubt even most high-mmr SWF's would be at the level of a comp streamer. They might also not do it because it'd hurt their bottom line as content creators would have super long queues and would most likely resort to smurfing to keep the content flowing.

I'd imagine BHVR is more likely to nerf the killer/perks instead.

Yeah, "end them" might have been too wishful. I'd hope it would at least make them a bit harder to achieve, and therefore less appealing. Steamrolling new or less experienced players for content has never sat right with me.

  • @Sauroth said:

What you won't find on the forums is people actually writing posts saying "How good the event is".. and as always only whining killer mains get to say their frustration and be vocal about it, because they didn't get an ability to down all 4 survivors at a press of a button..

NOTHING literally changes with the game.. SWF always stomps average killers, the only difference is, now, they can coordinate to stomp even harder.. SOLO QUEUE experience is also the same, randos running around like headless chickens doing nothing all game.. I have to run hatch finding items or perks just for this, because I lost MOST of my games otherwise.. killers are still camping and slugging, same as before..

So I'll say it again: THANK YOU TO THE DEV TEAM, FOR PUTTING UP TOGETHER SUCH A GREAT EVENT!!!

I'm enjoying the event as killer, so there's one person for you. I do think alot of the criticisms are valid though. The cake situation is bs, and killer is a lot more uninteractive than survivor. I do also think killers should be taking advantage of the poison more than they are. I've done pwyw and really had only one game where the killer actually properly used poison. Most killers I faced were playing like it was normal mode, which i can also understand as killer is very easy to fall into autopilot mode.

  • BHVR need to just hurry up and tighten MMR. Having to play against competent survivors will end those kill streaks quick.

  • I definitely support not playing something you're not enjoying. That seems like common sense though.

For me personally, the lack of cake compared to previous years is the worst travesty. Otherwise I don't think it's that bad and will keep playing.

Most streamers I watch that play killer mostly are mainly playing survivors so I dont know where this mind set is coming from

It's funny, because i follow a number of both killer and survivor mains on Twitch and everyone has seemingly switched to the other side. Typical survivor mains just playing killer and typical killer mains playing survivor. I actually think it's a good thing.

  • Pretty sure some well known content creators are doing some sort of slugfest competition among themselves. I would assume viewers are copying their builds, and that's why there's an increase.

The amount of people who can't come up with their own opinion by PLAYING the game concern me lol

No one posts their stats or clips when giving feedback, I'd be a lot more understanding if they could actually show just how bad it's been for them. Coz it's hard to believe randoms at face value anymore lol.

They are not going to. I think they should. But they won't. It's also crazy that the carts of food do not go away and respond somewhere else. I was playing survivor and a cart was between to dining tables. Someone spent the whole game going back and forth making sure the table was full. Survivors would be fully healed and whatever crazy OP effect would happen. The three of us were doing gens or running from killer getting instant heals until the killer DC

Spawns were really bad for the Blood Moon, they probably tried to prevent that happening again and got the opposite problem instead

I never noticed that. They were just gone. Like they even did the invisibly in front of me and I didn't notice a sound or blue splashes. I'll have to pay attention when the next killer challenges come out.

I just don't get why they gave survivors a bunch of new mechanics they can do and took away all killer mechanics from the previous event and just gave them a clown bottle. I wouldn't mind all this extra stuff they gave survivor if killers could remote hook, remote break pallets, etc like in previous versions.

Once you notice the tells, invisibility is fine to work around. It also only lasts very briefly, so most tend to hide nearby instead of run off. When you know the general area they're in, they're easy to find.

  • Current player count is high, and honestly, people who think it's boring for killer are probably just jumping over to survivor. Less people than you think are probably outright angry about this event, despite how loud everyone is being here and on social media.

  • Better off going the opposite way and just removing them imo

Most killers are bad too, content creators just give them sympathy for sucking instead of calling them on it and that attitude has permeated the community. Seriously watch almost any of them, if the killer is doing poorly and is unable to catch the survivors they give the killer sympathy but if its a survivor doing bad they get trash talked. Otz has an incredibly PR team with how he somehow manages to maintain a "wholesome" reputation with the way he shouts at survivors. I don't blame him for getting frustrated at the game and have done it myself but I don't have a reputation as wholesome.

Honestly, I find it completely out of touch when the folks who play this game for a living ######### on the casual players who hop on to chill out after being mentally drained by a hard day's work at their actual jobs. It's elitist bs, over a video game no less. My hubby has worked at mine sites for many years, it'd be like chucking a bunch of content creators out there into the hot sun and then standing around talking about how bad they are at it. Experience makes all the difference, go figure!

  • Yup. For all my complaints, I'm still here years on. So they've gotta be doing something right. My Laszlo says hi to your mean mogger 🐈

I wanna blame a lot of Content Creation who involve in the competitive scene also, all the win streak videos etc

    MMR is definitely the catalyst

Fun fact - a lot of those competitive content creators are part of BHVRs consultancy team lol so they're literally helping direct the future of the game. Fun!

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/469326/the-dbd-community-has-no-concept-of-fun

Some people’s idea of fun in the game is hard tunneling or gen rushing. Everyone should be able to play the game the way they want within the rules and not feel bad about it. If there’s something broken in the game that is causing one side to less fun than the other, that will be reflected in queue times and BHVR will have to make balance adjustments.

Apparently plenty of people are having fun in the game even with all the complaints because the player count is basically at an all time high right now.

Mind-boggling that you're copping downvotes for just repeating what this community has been saying for years. Everyone claims to want the freedom to play as they please, yet we know they mean only they should have that right.

  • I run it a fair bit when I play survivor, and while this situation does happen it's thankfully rare. I don't mind it if they're injured and on death hook though, especially if I'm not. I'll take a hit and buy them some time.

It can't be from last year because it has the "52m" next to their username. If it was from last year, it would say something like "last year" or whatever date, 2025.

I remember the screenshot going around last year. I'm gonna guess someone did a google or reddit search on past anniversary cake rates and found the screenshot, not the actual comment

  • @CorgiSploots said:

I'm going to be the outliner and say this was going to happen, The fact they went this hard for survivors should really say something about how bad survivor play levels were for the last few events outside 2v8. I've said it 1000 times, but killers cannot treat every lobby like their families lives depend on it. We need players on both sides.

I'm gonna join you on the sidelines. Giving killers literally one thing to do is unusual, and i can only assume survivor sales and player counts must be really bad to get to this point. I can't see any other reason for it.

i think as part of the general family of people, i do still reserve the right to at least share criticism and my viewpoint as feedback. my opinion is not the end-all-be-all and is not meant to be, hence why a post like this is up for debate to begin with.

now that i am aware that ojibwe consultants were involved, i do find it comforting that it went through their hands before they gave bhvr the okay. but my stance on that is: sure while the few that have reviewed it gave it the green light, will that land the same way with everyone else?

this isn't to say that bhvr needs to consult every tribe and nation, but i'm just hoping this is something that they've at least considered.

again, since i have been told that this is temporary and is the regular pattern for original survivors, i am not as upset about it as i was last night. i feel way better knowing that bhvr was considerate enough to consult a people for this sort of thing. i was mainly concerned about it being for-profit the entire time and how uncomfortable it was seeing this for the first time.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093652#Comment_4093652

i see your viewpoint and i can agree on this. however i will always have mixed feelings and skepticism due to the nature of selfishness that comes with this representation from a for-profit organization. businesses are there to make money, and in a day where there's a lot of performative and dishonest behavior, it gets difficult to tell when something is genuine or not. it gets even more scary when it comes to something that's close to you. a company can easily sell you the idea of being progressive, but do they truly mean it?

i would assume so given bhvr's focus on different types of communities, but knowing that it always has the added benefit of being a marketing tactic disconcerts me. maybe i'll grow to be more accepting of it over time, but right now... i don't know.

"i do still reserve the right to at least share criticism and my viewpoint as feedback"

Absolutely. And I'm surprised your feedback is apparently so controversial to a lot of people. Saying you feel it should have been available for shards instead of auric cells is valid. I would assume the reason they're charging for it is because they probably paid for consultancy when designing the cosmetic, and also want it to be easily accessible for newcomers. But even so, selling for shards wouldn't mean the company gets nothing for their efforts. Shards are earned through time spent in game (*a lot* of time if we're being honest), which is immensely valuable to any gaming company.

  • My assumption was that it might be like a stamp collection for events going forward lol

dude, what part of i get 70% killrate and would happily change for 50% you dont get it? wraith is ONE killer, even if this still worked like it did, what does not work the same way anymore, it would still be a low pickrate for the perk, sure survivors get trash perks too, but much less trash perks. Indeed you just quoted a trash perk as if it was good, who the hell uses ######### phantom fear dude? that shet is less used than anything, go look at pickrates

Out of curiosity, what changes would you be okay with that would potentially drop your kill rate to 50%?

  • Omg why didn't I read this first. I was throwing poison at the carts, I didn’t realize i was supposed to walk up and actually select it lol

  • I was looking for a multiplayer game that I could play with my hubby, and DBD kept popping up. Hubby hates horror so I knew he wouldn't play it, but once I became aware of it suddenly I just kept seeing it everywhere. I saw one day that a Silent Hill chapter was coming to the game, and being a SH fan I started taking notice. Eventually caved and bought it sometime around Twins release (I remember the community thinking it was Until Dawn based on the teaser lol) but didn't really start playing frequently until around Trickster's release.

  • Unpopular opinion, but I actually don't mind it. It just would be nice if that wasn't all there was to do.

  • The multiplier isn't a gift, it simply applies to whichever role needs more players so queue times aren't too long. If the event needs more killers, then the incentive will automatically shift to killer.

I spent my whole 15 million I had accumulated. Guess I'll just grind for more if it improves.

Crazy thing is, matches last year everyone brought cake. This year, it's like two people per match. They're so scarce no one even wants to use them.

Yeah I was seeing only a couple per match, so one match i didn't bring one and everyone else did. I felt so bad lol

I am especially curious as to what BHVR’s thinking was. Someone mentioned it was to prevent “hoarding a thousand offerings from the anniversary,” but is raising the rarity from lowest to second highest the solution to that? Is it a problem that needs a solution to begin with? The character you get the offerings on you’re forced to play to use the offerings, they aren’t interchangeable. If you manage to play the game enough during the anniversary, don’t you deserve the thousand offerings? It’s the most hype time of the year for the game in terms of new content. Perhaps they thought making players need more playtime to get the offerings would make them play more. But it’s likely the inverse, players will be discouraged to grind, the rewards aren’t worth it.

Theoretically, they could’ve just made the rarity uncommon instead of common across the board for anniversary items and the backlash would’ve been maybe a tenth of what they’re receiving now. But I’m of the shared opinion that no change was needed at all. Survivors can get commodious toolboxes frequently if they manually use their bloodweb anyway, and killers will just bring puddings instead of anniversary cakes since there’s no difference on their end. Killers don’t play with anyone else in the lobby, why should they care if the rest of the players get an extra 100 percent? This update guts at least half of the enjoyment found in the anniversary celebration.

"Someone mentioned it was to prevent “hoarding a thousand offerings from the anniversary,”

Honestly, I'm not even sure why BHVR should consider this a problem. People put their time and money into this game. Let us hoard cakes.

  • I just got 27 cakes from 3 prestiges, which isn't too bad i think. Not sure if this is why, but I spent in 1 million intervals.

  • We should have known the 10 million bp would come with a downside lol

  • You have the patience of a saint waiting for some Houndmaster love

  • Easiest solution for these folks is to just not queue up for survivor

  • Maybe Sabotage? I think sabo'ing hooks gives decent bp

  • People need to speak with their money, because that's the language that matters in business. For me, new killers and new survivors are different. A new killer is a shiny new toy to play with, while new survivors don't do anything different to older survivors. They're just a new skin. For me, the appeal is in perks and if there's nothing worthwhile then why would I pay for it? May as well just wait for the Shrine

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

I'd rather they have just let the community see how much of a problem it is, then change it… that's the approach with Jason right? lol

Yeah, the wait and see approach. I like it. It's why I've decided to wait and see before outright buying anymore DLCs

  • Not being able to take endurance hits for others is just community rulebook stuff. People are free to do as they please, though they obviously should accept the consequences too

  • @Neprašheart said:

As much as I see this perk going strong, it's a double-edged sword, if you get me.

You do need AT LEAST three survivors to run it, otherwise those running it are quite literally putting those without Self-Preservation on the spot.. And that's really bad, especially if you are an experienced player and offer the killer the newbies who don't run the perk, y'know?

It's the same issue as is with Jason; The moment three survivors start crouching while the other one doesn't bother hiding, the killer has a clear path and it goes without saying who's gonna be his next target. And by using Self-Preservation yourself, this does repeat the same issue like process, letting your team to a straight downfall.. While you are there to observe it.

"otherwise those running it are quite literally putting those without Self-Preservation on the spot"

As someone who doesn't use BBQ or FTTE, I barely even notice when someone has it. I can see the issue if the killer runs aura perks but for everyone else it's probably just a wasted perk slot. Everyone is fair game when you're used to looking the old fashioned way.

Not the issue, I'm pointing out that Aven is known to be the exact sort of wildly toxic, hatespeech endorsing, accusation making SWF player I'm referring to. This isn't intended as an insult, merely to contextualize how defensive he's being here.

Otz is one of the most wholesome streamers around, like him or hate him. Man does nothing but good. Aven's friend said some racial stuff about him and Aven was laughing along. They dropped racial stuff in postgame with me too. I'm just going to mute him and get back to the actual discussion. Cannot stand people like that.

"I'm pointing out that Aven is known to be the exact sort of wildly toxic, hatespeech endorsing, accusation making SWF player I'm referring to"

I've been around this forum long enough and have never seen any such behaviour from Aven. Not once. So I disagree that they are "known to be" that sort of person. And Otz is a big boy, I'm sure he's moved on from whatever incident you're referring to so it's probably time you do as well.

  • I think the third wave of codes worked, but the first and possibly second waves did not

  • Not just you, plenty of others having the same issue

  • This is why the devs need to hurry up and fix matchmaking. Hooks are a team resource but players shouldn't feel like they have to throw because the game's matchmaking let them down
