They're probably anticipating longer killer queues, especially since we just got Jason. So they make the survivor role more interesting so people still queue up.
-
They need to look for new management. This isn't how to win over new fans

i refuse to believe anyone who makes decisions at bhvr plays killer at any level of regularity
And yet they're 10 years in and not showing any signs of stopping. You also joined the forum in 2022, so if you're still here after 4 years then they must be doing something right hey

I mean that, from a survivors perspective, you have no idea if killer instinct has been triggered on you which seems really anti-friendly to new players (as if the game didn't already have a lot to digest). The scream is the only way you know and that's not always tied to KI.
You don't get a tell with any killer who has KI afaik. Doesn't seem like a Jason specific issue. Adding some sort of status effect indicator on the HUD wouldn't hurt if it helps new players.

The HUD gives you info. So do perks. Open VC won't help any more. It would be nothing but yelling, blaming, and insults. Bad players will still be bad, and people would elect themselves leader. No amount of talking will make randoms care about one another either. It's not hard to find people to play with and use Discord, and that way you get to choose who you want to interact with. I also prefer having two different experiences available. I can play with friends or have a more mysterious, quieter solo match. I wouldn't want that to go away.
"people would elect themselves leader"
Everyone has had those folks in solo queue who point and try directing everyone lol imagine how much more unbearable they would be with VC. It's like nah mate, this is solo queue. It's the wild west out here. You want to be a leader, go make a swf lol

Because some people like the sound of their own voice too much (ie they won't shut up)

I'd personally prefer killer instinct to go as opposed to the screaming as there's not really a counter or a tell without a scream
I don't mind KI not having a counter, as it's an integral part of some killers powers. I just find the scream to be unnecessary noise personally (not sure what you mean by tell, do you mean for KI? It has the heartbeat sound). Survivor can turn screams off with CS, but you don't have that option as killer.

Well its called a Jump Scare so screaming makes sense.
Yeah i get the little joke, it just feels unnecessary and gets old quick
-
Having played both as Jason and against him, the only thing I'd change is getting rid of the scream. Makes him feel bloated. Killer instinct is already there.

Exactly what I do 😬

Was planning to put it all into Jason during the event but I'm not really vibing with him sadly. I'll still use it all during the event for cakes but maybe on a different killer. I'm waiting for the anniversary sales to start.

Except this is a 2016 game, not a 2027 game.
Their comments at the event re DBD2 seem to indicate they know the game is dated. Their reasoning for not going the DBD 2 route is sound (and appreciated) but the fact that they were considering it shows they want to meet modern standards. They could give us a 2027 game in the form of DBD 2, but instead they're giving us the next best thing by evolving this one instead.

If there was a statement saying they don't and then they did I can understand that frustration. That's reasonable.
AI stealing art is an issue if it is, but I've seen tons of ai that does not. That seems more an issue with design than the concept of ai itself. Something that can be fixed.
Environment issues is reasonable but I guess I see the future advancement from ai as worth the cost.
The AI is also coming whether we like it or not so I guess I view embracing it as the best option lest we will simply fall behind the advancement of those that will not slow down its development.
AI doesn't create on its own. It gathers available information and bases its output on that. It can even be manipulated (eg if everyone on the internet collectively started posting "the sky is green", then when you later ask AI if the sky is blue, it will tell you no, it's green). So when AI creates art, it is viewed as theft by many artists as it will scour the internet and use what it finds. Which can include their own work.
Also, I'm confident the AI bubble will burst. It is very very expensive and resource heavy to run, to the point where AI was initially being sold at a loss so businesses would adopt it. The prices are now increasing in order for AI companies to start making a profit, and it will drive many businesses (particularly smaller ones) to drop it as it becomes cheaper to just use man power again. So i don't think there's any reason to embrace it, personally, as i don't believe it was sold honestly to the public and businesses.
-
I've actually never watched the movies (Pennywise was enough for me, clowns freak me out) but he's the antagonist of a bunch of horror films so I think he's just fine coming to DBD

The bands drummer says it wasn't AI. I am not denying that it looked terrible but bad CGI has existed since long before AI has. I don't know how someone at BHVR OK'd the video when so much doesn't line up with DBD but there is no real evidence of it being AI.
So it really was just CGI?

There is a huge lawsuit happening as we speak.
I'm not a lawyer, so one can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read Ruthless want their (apparent) entitlements from licensing deals Leone has made. I don't think they're seeking to void any current deals, but if Leone loses the rights to Art then any future contract negotiations will have to be with Ruthless.

Of course. The beHaviour Devs don't have any special plans for their player base and are not planning on sacrificing them in any way whatsoever.

I can see Linda as a survivor (and honestly, i hope she comes with two base skins - older and younger Linda)

The band's music video does involve ai. But what does a band making a video in tribute to the game, have anything to do with ai being used for anything in the game? I can see the problem if it was ai used to make the upgraded graphics prototype video, but this was just a seperate group of people making a fan music video and happened to use ai. The ai in question is not in use by bhvr at all, but the band instead.
I'm not sure if you saw the start of the broadcast, but they made a point in the opening screen to state no AI was used or will feature in the broadcast. So I'm not really surprised that the video put a dampener on the whole thing for some people. There's a good chance that whichever higher up in BHVR approved the video to show during the broadcast may not have realized the band had used AI, but you'd think someone would have at some point prior to the event lol
-
No, they're giving context because people like yourself are digging up stuff that happened several months ago and muddying the waters over what is happening now. The job listing went up awhile ago and BHVR were called out here on the forum (and elsewhere) and they had to clarify exactly what they were looking to use AI for (not art purposes, and not as job replacement). Dvveet's tweet was in relation to that.
Basically, we've all had this discussion before and dragging it all up again is pointless when we should be specifically asking why they okayed the INK video in their broadcast if it does in fact involve AI. Keep things in context.
-
Oh no :( take care Count, I'm sure you're in great hands and will be back gracing us with your presence soon!

love how these comments always get downvoted and no one is willing to actually discuss why they disagree. I suspect its because its obviously an insanely powerful perk and survs want to use it regardless of how bad its going to impact the game
if it releases into live as it is, its a guaranteed slot in my build as i play more stealthy and thats far stronger than any other stealth perk in the game. its not even a competition.
Or maybe, just maybe, the perk hasn't been finalised or released so people are just sick of the doom-posting over something that hasn't even happened yet. Crazy, I know!
-
Anything in a PTB is an unfinished product. The finalised product is when it goes live. It always blows my mind how upset people get with post-PTB changes. It's literally why the PTB exists.
The survivor chapter is a separate release to Jason's chapter, that's why we haven't seen any potential changes yet. The devs have clarified this already. People also seem to forget that they also need to sell the survivor chapter, and the only real thing they can offer with new original survivors is perks. The survivors themselves are just a skin essentially, they don't do anything new or fancy. New killers, on the other hand, come with new powers, and potential synergies that affect game balancing are a reality of that. So it's pointless comparing the two.
-
@Xray said:
I dont get why you guys kept the new survivor a secret and included their perks on the latest PTB, why include the perks at all if the survivor is not ready to revealed? Even more confusing if this upcoming patch is only including Jason and nothing else.
I don't think it's about being a secret, it just wouldn't make sense releasing an original survivor alongside a licensed character. Not to mention, Jason Universe wouldn't have agreed to that either. Hence they're getting released 10 days apart. No point having a second PTB when they can fit both into the same testing.
-
This seems fine to me. I'm looking forward to playing him

I wish people would understand this but they're so desperate for the two sides to be like distinctly separate political parties. People get mad at these BMers and attach it to the role instead of the person.
Yup. It's the person, not the role. Some people just enjoy annoying others. These people have always existed and will always exist. And talking about them just encourages them more because they know they're successfully tilting people.
-
The only survivor perk in recent times that has entered the meta is Finesse. The rest of the meta are all very old perks.
-
Everybody's arguing over which side does what, when most people play both sides and it's likely the same folks doing it regardless of which role they're in. Anyone who actually plays both sides would know that. People aren't magically angels in one role and devils in the other. They're all around just annoying people.

One of the moderators (forget who) on this forum clarified that if ANYONE abandons at any time (rather than exiting normally from the end-game lobby when the match is finished) then the entire match is throw out for all BHVR data.
Which I find funny, as if that moderator was correct, how many survivors will abandon during the Mori? Entire match just never happened for ANYONE. No MMR gain, no MMR loss, no data on kills and escapes for BHVR… nothing… The match never happened. You got your BP that's it.That doesn't sound right, as Peanits has said in the past that whenever a person DCs in game, results are voided for that specific player. Since abandons are functionally the same as DCs (just minus penalty), I can't see why it wouldn't work the same way. Because otherwise, as you said, they'd have no data. Peanits said the non-DCing players still get MMR gains or losses as normal for their progression that game.

Content creators didn't kick up a big enough stink to get it reverted unfortunately

Sigh, honestly i am already kind of bored of arguing, you guys have those weird assumptions that makes me feel like either you just want to feel better about yourself or straight do not play a game. Simple experiment. For 20 games, at the beginning of the match hide in the locker/ctrl in the bushes until first chase. Rest of the game play normally. Then do this again but play whole game normally sitting on a gen at the beginning. Then compare how much times you was the last one standing. Get back to the thread with the stats if you want to continue that "last standing is the skilled one!" argument.
Hatch isn't survivor equivalent of endgame because killer still has to put effort in the endgame, in fact its your normal dbd gameloop with a chase and hook. Also you have a choice whether to camp last hook or try to get more kills. And even if you just camp, unless you play bubba, survivors still have solid chance of unhooking safely. Its much more interactive that just win button hatch is. Maybe if killer could find an orbital laser that auto aims at one random survivor and obliterates them that would be fair equivalent.
You're way overthinking something that doesn't even count as a "win" for survivor. Hatch debates are pointless when the devs don't consider it any more significant than a means of ending the game
Per a dev:
-
There's no way they'd be $2 lol probably closer to $10
-
@RpTheHotrod said:
Even better - I got mine recorded, ha.
Lol so were you the killer? He wasted time taking a hit, tbagging, then ran into an obstacle, then says your hit was bs 🤣
-
I'm pretty sure the game is voided in that situation. On the stats page it might show as escapes but that's a visual thing, it doesn't actually impact on escape rates
-
It's an ego thing. Once I've won I'm keen to move onto my next match. No desire to prolong it.
-
Not necessarily. Bubba never left despite the TCM game. And Myers and Pinhead might not have left because of their upcoming games, but that the potential resurgence in popularity thanks to those games means the IP holders wanted more money to renew than BHVR were willing to pay. We just don't know.
-
I just don't engage and keep playing as normal. Not everyone likes to farm and that's fine.

Springtrap having a ranged attack was unnecessary considering how many killers have ranged capabilities.
