So, remember dislikes are a good way to get the less vocals opinions?
Theres a lot of vocal context that can be obtained from this too though. Each character you add adds another 3 to 6 prestiges (if 1 killer and one survivor) to 9 if its a special one of like 2-1. And we supposed to assume stuff like the shrine bp being lowered, amount for dailys, cakes during the anniversary having to be "bugged" to become a steady grind of bp were careful and calculated? Saying this as someone with 8k hours+ at this point. I have 10 million saved for judgements release ill spend 3 on getting the survivors teachables and 7 on judgement because she looks like fun. New people that need these cannot do that. So as they try to catch up more content gets added and you remove revenues for them to use they have more of a mountain to climb. I will never respect bp because the grind is already over for me, unless I wanna get a 4th p100 (might do that for judgement). But I do have friends starting out who look at all they have to do to get anywhere and dont have any fun with it.

Just looks like they downvoted a Dev trying to listen.
The context to what they are saying in that post must be unpopular. So better bloodpoint rewards is not needed as current BP gains must be fine.
I would have downvoted for the "if the overall sentiment is" bit, because we are years in on the discussion around bloodpoints and the grind that no dev should be asking "if" at this point
Or that nerfing cakes is careful when they werent a problem for how many years and theres even more grind now with new killers and survivors being added.
Nah, if is where it is because not enough support is shown.
I for one feel BP is more than enough for now. People grinding out multiple P100s kind of proves it. Me, who doesn't play as much, am able to P9 the killer and survivor every chapter. By as much is about one match a day.
For people to say the grind is too much now, are looking at the finish line from the start. They don't want to play the game long term, just every once in a while with no investment. Which is fine for them but bad for the game as a whole. Without a goal to reach, there's no reason to play. If people don't play, bhvr doesn't make money. If bhvr doesn't make money the game stops development and dies.
But I mean whats my respect for the game either at this point. Like stated I rarely need to play the game now I get easily 6-9 mill between chapters and its not like it takes long. New chapter releases. Instant both p4. Stop for a while. Rinse repeat. The only time I respect bp is when im going for a p100 which is definitely a choice at this point lol
I am long past the grind now as I have been playing for years, but I really don't envy new players now.
Imagine a player who joined DbD just after the anniversary and looking at the massive roster of characters and perks they have to earn. They're looking at several million BP to grind just to have a decent selection of perks and they're looking at less that 100k per game.
I know they lowered prices in the bloodwebs and at least made it so prestiging doesn't lose your perks and items anymore, but that was 4 years ago now. Since then they've added 32+ characters and 96+ perks to the game so there is a sheer volume of BP grind that should be mitigated.
I think that people should get P1 straight up for free on any character they own at this point. Then they can spend a mil or 2 on their main and have all the perks they own at level 3 and not have such a torturous grind just to use perks they have already paid for with real money.
Were we having this discussion a few years ago i would have been in full agreement. But we are 54 survivors and 44 killers deep at this point. It's easy for those of us who were fortunate to start when there was far less to tell newcomers to put in the grind. The time commitment is a heck less daunting when you've had a head start. You and I are probably prime examples of players who have everything we need unlocked yet keep playing, so would helping others catch up really hurt player retainment?
It got down voted because this and another post from Daniel/balrog, I've seen on this forum in a BP discussion a few days ago, boil down to "thanks for the feedback if necessary we will look into the matter" empty corporate answer.
"I'll look into it" is the most basic empty phrase one can use to get an annoying customer off of your back.
Edit: here is the aforementioned thread with Balrogs post:
The mountain will always look impossible from its base. A new player today can make it to where I stand in half the time it took me.
The grind to all characters P3 is not that daunting. It's not even necessary to enjoy the game. For survivor mains it's even easier as you just level one survivor while P1 the rest.
I understand being upset with corporate non-speak. But also realise that BHVR making promises never really worked out in the end.
Thing is this game is at point where theres so much stuff that blocking it is kinda pointless especialy when you count with new players or want some new players.
They lately give less stuff they they did like 4 years back or 3, like on events. Still its faster to gain bp and get something for it then it was first 4 years of the game where grind meant something.
You wouldn't know how daunting current DBD is or isn't. Plenty of newcomers have said the grind is too much and I take their word for it. It's approx 1 million per prestige, so 44 million just to P1 all the survivors. And since alot of people enjoy both roles, they're likely to divide their bloodpoint earnings.
Between work, family, sports, and social commitments, people have limited time to spend in games. And often they're playing multiple games at the same time. I would imagine they'd be more likely to just give up DBD than commit to the grind. You feel the opposite, so I guess we agree to disagree.
The grind has only gotten worse over the last 4 years with nothing done to mitigate it and your response is:
Perhaps my suggestion of P1 free on every character someone owns is too much but they should do something, anything to mitigate the grind.
To start with they could retire all the wreaths, flowers, the Sealed Envelope and the Hollow Shell.
Escape! Cake and Survivor Pudding should be brown offerings. A personal +100% offering should always be an option in 2026 DbD.
Make Blood Party Streamers purple offerings, just to get them out of the blue rarity which is clogged up by all the map offerings, which would make them appear in bloodwebs more and I think would look cooler in purple.
Make the Bound Envelope yellow rarity, +50% (up from 25%) and affect all players not just survivors.
I don't play the game anymore but Dbd is one of the most insane grinding games, especially when it come to shards.
dbd used to be bad but I don't see how it is when there's nothing you "MUST HAVE". These days you can pick which way you swing and be off to the races in a jiffy. There is no "I went a whole prestige and didn't get BBQ" anymore.
The initial grind has been deepening, but our gains are Exponential now. 1 prestige gives you lifetime access across everybody old dbd players would kill for that.
I get where you're coming from logically, but just because something used to be abysmal doesn't mean people should cheerfully accept it now being simply awful.
And I really don't think those of us who have been playing this game since the beginning or near the beginning and pretty much own everything already really should be the most vocal on this, either. This is really something disproportionately affecting newer players who are seeing this from a perspective we can only imagine.
But even so, it's not hard to step back and see the issue, and BHVR seeming to get stingier with the BP isn't helping. Yes, they've done a lot to functionally reduce the grind, but the scale of the game is just so much bigger than it was.
And I don't think it would be so aggravating if there weren't so many commonsense things they could easily do to alleviate the issues.
The thing is, they just dont take this serious at all, otherwise something would have happened a long long time ago. Those statements are basically just disrespect to community feedback.
44 million is only a number. Without the rate to which you gain bp, it's meaningless. I make greater than 18 million every chapter cycle without playing much at all. Someone just starting out would focus on characters that give the perks they want and gather the rest when needed.
What is the goal of most players playing DBD? Having all perks? All characters P3, P6, P9, P100? I doubt it. There's no need to unlock even half the perks.
To get the perks one wants is to level at most 4 characters to P1. Is that such a daunting task? Really? Should everything be unlocked at the forefront? The lost of interest would be staggering. Certainly wouldn't see many players over a thousand hours.
But it hasn't. Without knowing how long you have played, you don't understand what grind is. Even going back to when I started playing, the grind was reduced significantly.
When BHVR reworked the prestige system, they removed one of the worst exponentially inceasing grinds in gaming. Right now with constant events, rift challenges, and 250k bonus every week, it is fine.
Could it be better? Better to what degree? Maybe they make it so everything is unlocked after playing one match. Could it be better? Why yes it could. They could just give you everything upfront. Why even need bp? Unlimited everything! No more grind. You can just enjoy the game. Damn I'm bored, going to play something else.
4 characters? I'm assuming you mean because of meta perks? I feel like the health and longevity of the game would benefit more from all perks being more easily accessible as opposed to a handful of meta perks that everyone is sick of seeing. Because yes, having perks to play around with is kind of a thing in DBD.
18 million every 3 months. At an average of 25k a match that's several hundred matches. I'm happy that you have that much time on your hands, genuinely.
If the grind isn't so bad, then why are you here saying people should just settle for less? Play only one survivor? Bet that would be great for cosmetic sales.
"Should everything be unlocked at the forefront?"
Literally never said that, but go off ✌️
The grind is utterly insane and unsustainable the rate that new characters are added. Removing perk tiers is something that should have happened and was absolutely needed even 5 years ago, but the devs WANT the grind.
What has changed for the better in the last 4 years? I know we got the 250k per week since then but that's been around for a long time already. What else?
They've added 35 characters since then which adds about 38 million BP to the grind.
"But it hasn't." #### off out of here if you can't prove it or make a suggestion that could improve the situation.
You build your roster over time. Four perks to get you set for farming bp. You talk of longevity without realizing without a goal a game becomes boring to play. As you can tell, this game pisses off people like crazy. Without something to work towards they won't want to continue.
That's in the 100 million before the prestige update. 38 million over 4 years is 792,000 a month. You saying that's too much to handle? You can get that without playing a single match, just login every Tuesday.
What are you on about? I am talking about the new players who just joined as I said in my first post in this thread. For those players they pretty much have the same ability to grind but have an additional 38 million to grind. I'm not talking about me or anyone who has been playing the game for years.
While the grind is large, it is obtainable if the player is to play a couple thousand hours. While that may sound like a lot, it really isn't for this type of game. Idk where this mindset of, we must give a lot upfront, or, we must make the grind trivial, comes from. I doubt it's for the new player but uses as an excuse.
The grind right now is manageable. Bringing a character to P3 gives their perks to ever other character for zero extra expense. That is scaling where it doesn't matter how many chapters bhvr ends up making. And thats IF the player chooses to do so. Not every player wants every perk or to play every killer (Or can with expired licenses).
New players generally aren't an issue because as long as they have that enthusiasm, they'll naturally find their own way forward. Complaints only emerge when that enthusiasm fades—people face reality and voice dissatisfaction simply to bend the situation to their own convenience. Likes and dislikes are really that simple: people either like something (or someone) or they don't, and those who aren't interested in the first place won't even notice it.
I think it all comes down to maintaining a balance between players who are satisfied with the current state and those who aren't. If the developers cater too much to satisfied players, dissatisfied ones will leave even faster. Conversely, if they lean too heavily toward the dissatisfied ones, those who were previously content will start feeling frustrated and quit as well. Furthermore, if content players never had any complaints at all, it would be impossible to tell whether that was a good or a bad thing. People who are satisfied with the game are actually playing it—they don't go out of their way to leave feedback; their choice to play is their feedback. Adding unneeded changes to people who are satisfied with the status quo only makes them focus on the negative, which ultimately leads them to express their discontent.
Having played this game for years, I think the developers have a fantastic sense of balance. Whether it's intentional or not, they manage to keep just the right amount of friction in the game. That's because real progress comes from carefully examining those complaints and making meaningful improvements over time. Maybe it's because I've gotten older myself, but I feel it's better to walk at a slower pace alongside the elderly. By taking things slow, we might end up helping those who struggle to keep up with constant changes.
However, I recognize that this perspective will naturally draw complaints from players who love top-tier Killers, see no reason to play other Killers just for different power mechanics, and prefer taking the shortest route to enjoy the game easily while constantly seeking quick thrills as they hop from one game to the next.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense.
