Yesterday my games have been terrible. After 3 games of killer which all have been against toxic swf's with the 6 same perks, I decided to stop playing until the next day. I feel like something has happened to MMR already, is this true or not?
I feel like the games have been even less fun then they usually are. The grades are also still hidden which is stupid as well. And yes I know GRADES AREN'T USED TO MAKE MATCHES but I don't understand why BHVR decided to hide them.
Hiding the grades was done to try to reduce the complaints about crappy matchmaking. Of course it does nothing to actually address the problem itself.
Of course we know that grades have zero correlation with skill level, none whatsoever. Even if you manage to get to iri grade 1 only a day after grade reset because you play this game 20 hours a day, that doesn’t mean anything regarding your skill level. This is a new learning for me that the amount of time you spend playing a video game has zero correlation with your skill level. Guess I shouldn’t bother to spend time practicing to get better! It’s also super weird that in my past matches, the red grade survivors were almost universally better players than lower grade survivors. So weird…

In my opinion, Pinhead is the absolute worst killer to face in the game currently. If I hear the chain hunt noise at the beginning of the match, I now just immediately DC, I literally couldn't care less, I'd rather move on to another game and not have to endure that torture. Everything about his power is extremely boring and irritating to face, the chain hunts are horribly designed and can completely screw over any team that isn't on comms, and the chains are just annoying. His chase music is annoying and repetitive and the box is just frustrating to handle.
I know there are people who like him for some reason, so I don't think anyone will agree with me, but I just can't stand him. All of you killer mains and swf players, you can't criticize me if you haven't experienced him from solo queue.
He’s my least favorite killer to go again, easily. Unless I happen to be in a 4-man SWF which is not very often. His power is designed to crush solo q (which is an already challenging experience against any killer).

Meh. I don’t really care that much about shards. I’d rather have blood points. But that’s just me. Some people might have everything maxed out and not care about BP but would rather have shards for cosmetics.
-
They’re definitely not in any hurry to improve the grind. Many players are frustrated with it, but it apparently hasn’t led to enough people quitting the game or turned off enough potential new players to be a problem yet. I wouldn’t hold your breath for any changes anytime soon.

I couldnt get any value from keys since the nerf.
1, Has to be the last survivor since Hatch only spawns if everyone else dead or left(at worst case means that you have like 10-20 sec to find it)
2, Hatch has to be closed by killer(since it spawns open so no need for key), and then you can search for the hatch use the key
Yep, they are pretty useless now and that’s not a bad thing. I’d rather just have them deleted altogether because I never use them as survivors. When playing killer, having 2-3 survivors escape without completing the gens was one of the most frustrating things in the game and I’m glad that’s gone. I’d be fine adding something else to make the keys a bit more useful, but free escapes for multiple survivors was BS.

Totally agree with this, but BHVR seems to believe the grind is totally fine and that it’s not turning away enough potential players to require any changes. They’ve done nothing yet to address it.

Question on title. Seriously why? I thought MMR will fix this problem, new players will not face with exp players anymore but looks like it gone worse.
JRM and his team are exp survivors. But Trapper? He looks new and probably he had very bad time. Why this thing still happens? New players should have different MMR cap and they should face with each other.
Because there’s no way to get around this with the current shortage of killer players. Playing killer needs to be made a less miserable and stressful experience and/or there need to be incentives added for playing killer. Fix the killer:survivor ratio problem and SBMM will work fine.

The upcoming nerf will kick CoH in the nuts. Setting up a Boon and then healing will take longer than using Self-Care, which means snuffing the Boon is now worth it
The problem is that it’s still free healing that doesn’t require a perk slot for 3/4 of the survivor team for the rest of the match unless the killer 1) happens to find the totem and 2) takes time to go snuff it out, which sometimes takes a ton of time on maps with multiple levels (multi-level effectiveness of boons is broken AF).
The upcoming nerf does nothing to address the fact that it’s a free perk for most of the team and it’s a secondary objective for killers that didn’t exist in the game prior to boons being introduced.

Just my opinion but I'd like to get others to weigh in. From my perspective, he's OP because:
- his ability charges up extremely fast.
- he can do 90 degree turns while using his ability (I used to play Oni and I swear this wasn't possible back in 2020. Was this a recent buff?)
- he practically knows where you are at all times if you're injured since the red orbs you omit can be seen by him
So you can't really loop him for that long (unless you're on a map that totally negates his movement) and you can't really hide from him if youre injured. And that's not even considering the perks that he'd have equipped.
Thoughts?
Oni is actually not very good. I almost never see him in my survivor matches and there’s probably a reason for that. Sure, there are a few really good Oni players out there, but your average killer player typically struggles with him based on my experience.

At your skill level though.
Again I'll restate, if someone else can use the same killers that you can't and can perform well with them (whether it be Otz, Scott Jund, any top tier DBD player), then the issue is not the killer. It's your current skill level
”Any killer is fine if the top 0.01% of players, who literally play the game for a living, can do well with them.” This is how I read your argument.
So the rest of us who don’t play the game as our job should just purge whatever other responsibilities we have so we can play the game 12 hours a day to git gud? To judge the viability of killers based on what you see on Twitch or YouTube is such flawed logic I don’t even know where to begin…

I've got this advice so many times recently, "don't go for a 4k. Let one, two or even three survivors escape always so your mmr stays low and you can actually have some fun playing killer" Is this how you play killer in dbd now? Lose the match on purpose so your mmr doesn't get too high and you can actually have fun? Basically just be afraid of mmr. Who came up with this awful matchmaking system which is so crap that it makes players wanna lose on purpose lol.
I don’t purposely lose because even if your MMR score is low you’ll still get matched against really good survivors in some of your matches. There aren’t enough killers, so the SBMM will match you with whatever survivor group is waiting next (regardless of their MMR score) so that survivor queues aren’t too long. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and get matched against potatoes but sometimes you’ll get matched against 4-man sweat squads with thousands of hours each.
One of the questions in the player survey was whether players would be willing to wait longer for better matchmaking. If the SBMM system was working properly, there would be no need to ask that question. Simply put, there just aren’t enough killer players most of the time for the system to function properly.

I actually see Trapper quite often. Deathslinger is probably the least common among those you’ve shown. Sadako definitely dropped way off after release. All the others I’ve seen at least occasionally. I hadn’t seen Oni in ages until finally got him in a match yesterday. We were solo q but still all 4 escaped against poor Oni…

There’s no way to differentiate between a legit crash and someone force quitting the game. If the devs did what you wanted and removed penalty for “crashes” then everyone would just force quit the game when they’re having a bad match.

More often than not, SWF teams literally cause/encourage camping.
Over the past couple of days playing BUbba I have had numerous recorded matches with survivors literally hanging out like on the second level of Ormond, looking at me telling me "come" with emote 2 key while I have one on hook on ground level.
Ummm, I am not going anywhere, just gonna sit here and stare at you until she hits second stage.
SWF camp the hooks then get upset when you dont leave hahah
That happens with me all the time. If I’m playing Bubba and I can tell the team is a coordinated SWF I’ll just sit there near the hook while one or sometimes all three come over and wave at me to chase them for a while. It’s a great way to keep them off gens!

I look at it this way, if the devs wanted you to play fairly, they'd have balanced the game so that those ideals of not camping or tunneling work in your favor. But since they don't. Just consider it the devs way of saying that you need to do exactly that.
So if anyone complains about your camping, tunneling, unfair play, etc etc. Just say, "Devs made me do it". Problem solved.
Don't let people guilt trip you over it. Cause at this point, its the best way to play.
As a pig main my kit is set up where I would actually benefit from the survivor rule set. But honestly....######### em. Do what you wanna do.
Yep - play the game the way you want to play. Survivor players will always play the most optimal way possible and leverage every advantage they have in a match (coordinating on comms, god pallets, multiple strong loops next to each other, etc.). That’s the way I always play as survivor. Killers shouldn’t feel bad at all for playing any way they want. The devs have balanced this game in a way that requires killers to opportunistically camp and tunnel to secure kills against coordinated SWF teams. It’s the best way to snowball pressure against these teams. If you go for individual chases you’ll have all 5 gens done with maybe a few hooks at most. If you don’t camp the last survivor that gets hooked when all gens are done then they’ll get rescued and all 4 survivors wait at the gate for the whole EGC so they can t-bag you for being a “trash killer”.
Certainly not all matches are like this. When I go against solos or two-man SWF groups I actually feel like it’s a level playing field and have fun most of the time. Survivors have to take more risks not knowing whether they’re wasting time or making the optimal play. The biggest problem for killers in this game is the advantage that 4-man SWF teams have being able to coordinate and never waste any time in a match. The devs have refused to balance around this and the result is a community of frustrated killer players who have to play every match in a way that survivors find “unfun”.

That was me last night: had some time to play. So I powered up DbD, received the 100k bloodpoints, spend them on 1 1/2 bloodweb and then I couldn't bring myself to play killer. Survivor had a queue of over 5 minutes, so I just shut down DbD and watched a struggling streamer instead.
Lol this sounds very familiar! Every time I boot up DbD I sit there for a minute trying to decide if I really want to subject myself to the stress and frustration of playing killer. Sometimes I do what you did and after thinking a minute I’m like “screw it, I’m doing something else.”
-
Others have said this as well, but Corrupt Intervention is required on any killer who doesn’t have high mobility. Thanks to the current state of the game I get to choose two discretional perks as killer. My first two perk slots are filled with things that I can’t play without because 1) Corrupt is required due to gen times and awful map design; and 2) BBQ is required because the grind is so ridiculous and would take a lot longer if I’m not getting double BP.
If the devs want to shake up the stale meta, make Corrupt base kit and reduce the grind so BBQ doesn’t feel required. Then killers can actually start to use a wider variety of perks.
-
In before all the “grades mean nothing” comments. Just stop it. If someone is already at red grades two days after they reset, it means they play this game *a lot* and they’re probably pretty good at it (and certainly have the maps memorized better than the average player). I would bet anyone a lot of money that there is at least some correlation between grades and MMR score, especially this early in the monthly cycle. We’ll never see the data because BHVR never shares any data. They’ll just keep telling us “grades don’t mean anything blah blah blah” without providing the data because they know yes there actually is some correlation between grade and skill level.

I know that is impossible to stop survivors from playing together and using discord but please bhvr at least shake a bit the meta because im tired to deal with bt ds dh ub iw and boons.
I still play as killer, but not much during peak times anymore. If I’m ever able to play during the late morning or early afternoon, that’s when I’ll face more solo q or maybe two-man SWF at most. Those matches are far more enjoyable for me as I can play without being super sweaty and don’t have to camp/tunnel for kills. The 4-man SWF is what is destroying the fun in this game and forcing killers to play “dirty”. Nobody can stop people playing with their friends and I don’t blame them at all for doing it (I’ll play 4-man SWF occasionally), but it throws off the balance of the game so much that it has led to this miserable state of the game where killers have either just given up or feel like they need to camp and tunnel to get any kills.

I don’t have high hopes for changes anytime soon. As with most other past announced changes, it will either take many months or just never happen at all. The grind has been the one common complaint that survivor and killer mains can agree on (maybe besides SBMM being terrible). There seems to be no urgency by BHVR to make this change even though the community has been asking for it for years and player numbers continue to decline.

Your list looks a bit weird, since it names some nerfs for B or C tier killers. While also saying that there was a issue with Billys addons.
No one on earth would have asked for a Billy nerf. Like ever. He was the gold standard for power level.
You´re talking about toning Hag down, to make the survivor experience more enjoyable? Whats about the killer experience? Hag is already a really rare sight. Nerfing her won´t really improve that, unless thats what you mean by making it more enjoyable = never seeing her again.
Poor Billy. The only thing that needed nerfed on him was insta-saw, but BHVR nuked him with changes that nobody asked for. Used to be my favorite killer and now I never play him.

I've got 792 hours, probably a 90/10% split favoring Killer.
I just broke 1,000 hours. Bought the game in Sep. 2018, so it has taken me quite a while to get to 1,000 hours. I play casually and am not trying to become a god-tier survivor or killer (I play both sides), so the steady increase in sweatiness of the matches recently has made it less and less fun.

Nothing scares BHVR more than players having access to all the perks and add ons they actually want. Otherwise we wouldn't still have this ridiculous grind after 6 freaking years.
I don’t think BHVR has nefarious reasons for the grind. Like everything else, it’s a business decision for them. They believe a grueling grind will lead to players playing more hours which leads to higher likelihood of spending money on cosmetics and DLC. In my opinion they’ve gone a bit too far the the point where the grind is actually damaging their revenue in the long run because they’re turning away a lot of prospective new players.

100k login BP is like 2 matches as killer. Why would I care about 10k0 bp when it barely cover 3 bloodwebs because they're cluttered with useless garbage like fog and luck offerings?
BHVR announced that the grind will be addressed, but like every other past change there doesn’t seem to be any urgency on their part. Meanwhile, players continue to leave the game month after month and new players aren’t coming in to replace them because the grind is far too overwhelming.

It is weird that I am asking a pretty toxic community who should I try out or main as a killer, but who the hell cares.
I am honestly getting bored of getting absolutely trashed on when it comes to any killer I play. Looping with god pallets is honestly the most annoying thing ever and I cant stop dead hard users that extend chases longer than they need to be. But thats not why we are here.
I have almost every killer unlocked (Minus Sadako and GF) and there is just no fun playing either, sure sometimes Ill get the greatest match and then feel good going into another, only just to be completely destroyed by SWF flashlight users, bad maps (aka The Game), and just me not being able to loop.
So I am asking for a decent not too frustrating killer that can do good in chases while also having a bit of pressure on gens.
If you can get good with Nurse or Huntress then you don’t have to worry about looping with god pallets.

It would allow for some extra blood points and it would allow us to get rid of stuff that we don't use or want without having to take it into a game and dropping or dying with it.

I think seeing each players mmr in the endscreen would be a good thing.
In my mind hiding the MMR is just a way to hide flaws in the matchmaking and the overall balance. When I can see what lvl my opponents are and what lvl I am on it would reduce frustration after a game that just felt awful and would shift it to the real problem the matchmaking.
Just imagine you just got stompt and you can clearly see the other side is diamond rank while you are silver. Then it's not a man I am really bad case but a aww man the matchmaking sucks how should I win this.
And for the people that for example main trapper and they play and climb till silver and then after a time they see with only playing trapper they hit a wall and can't climb further but then they learn blight and boom they start climbing again. This way you could clearly see wich killer would need buffs.
Over all seeing your mmr would give you feedback how you perform and it gives the community real concrete evidence on what needs to be buffed or nerfed and then we could communicate with the devs about it and can say see there is the evidence pls do something.
What do you guys think? Do you think seeing your mmr can bring also bad things?

I still can't believe there are still people trying to kill the boons. You are creating too many problems for a mechanic where only ONE of the perks is broken or was it depending on the new nerf ( CoH).
SHOULD THE KILLER BE ABLE TO PERMANENTLY DESTROY THE BOONS? NO.
Imagine bringing a perk like Boon: exponential which is a very situational perk by the way that can be destroyed by the killer. Does not make sense.
SHOULD BOONS LOSE POWER EACH TIME THEY ARE PLACED? NO.
Imagine bringing a perk like Boon: dark theory which is an ok perk that weakens every time it is placed, imagine you using it with 1% speed bonus. Beware killer mains, you will never be able to catch me due to this perk because I AM THE SPEEEEEEED.
SHOULD BOONS HAVE TOKENS AND LOSE EACH ONE WHEN USED BY A SURVIVOR? NO.
imagine bringing a perk like Boon: shadow step that according to theory would have 3-5 tokens, you would automatically lose 1 token by simply activating the boon? or lose 1 token every time someone enters the boon radius and leaves? if someone accidentally entered the radius and left soon after you would lose 1 token for free because in theory you would be using it.
SHOULD CoH BE DELETED? YES.
BOONS ARE FINE.
Nearly all the complaints about boons that I see are specific to CoH. That one is by far the most problematic. I also think that boons being able to go through floors on multilevel maps is a bit OP. It takes way too much killer time to go to a different floor just to snuff a totem. Other than those things, I don’t have a problem with current state of boons.

They want to own you and taunt you to show you how amazing at life they with their thousands of hours sitting in their parents’ basements playing video games.
If I know the remaining survivors are at the gate, I’ll just go AFK and do something else until the match is done. Let the survivors have their party to celebrate their amazing and truly inspiring accomplishments on their own. I know AFK during the match is technically unsportsmanlike per the rules, but once the EGC starts I would hope that rule goes out the window.

Devs said that facecamping is not a bannable offense, yet when you get facecamped to death, you lose a pip. What should you have done differently? Equipped DS? Not get facecamped to death first hook in the first 2 minutes of the match while none of your teammates save you? It's frustrating. If I get facecamped to death, at least don't depip me, but no; you just 4 bronze medals and depip because you "didn't get enough points". You should NOT pip or depip if you get facecamped to death.
Camping has become extremely prevalent with the new MMR system test, and it's getting on my nerves quite quickly.
Sure, camping allowed, not bannable, ok; but don't depip me either please.
So what’s considered facecamping? 5m from the hook? 10m? 15m? 50m? You get my point. Somebody has to pick an arbitrary number to define what “facecamping” is, and nobody is going to agree what that number should be.

On COH. Killers time is 4x as valuable as a survivor so wasting time chasing and hitting a survivor only for them to run to their boon in an awkward location doesn’t cost them much but costs the killer a lot. Boons are designed so that their effect is only useful when the killer is close by (shadowstep, exponential and dark theory). COH ignores this and is why most hate it since there is little risk to placing one down since no matter where it is it will always get value.
As for healing it’s pretty much dependent on the killer they are facing. Against are nurse or Oni it’s basically required but against a legion you’re better off staying injured
Agree with this. Depends on the killer you’re facing. Also depends on the situation in the game. If you’re injured and not near a gen and see a teammate close by or you have a med kit, it’s probably better to spend that little bit of time to heal. But if you’re next to a gen and killer is nowhere nearby, do the gen before healing.
