Probably the fatal flaw of asymmetrical genre that it can't be ever balanced.
Currently in dbd we are seeing constant nerfs on survivor side, while killers are getting buffed.
Unfortunately the reality that these nerfs only makes playing solo survivor even more miserable. Now these survivor players will play in SWF, thus making playing killer miserable or they are just straight leaving the game(this is one part of reason for player drop)
Because lets be clear in one thing, when 4 good player, plays in SWF the game is fundamentally broken into pieces, you have so much information(knowing the killer location almost all the time), reliable teammates who can play decently, while the killer in chase, everyone else on gens, its like a god mode, most of the killer cast has no answer to this. Even the 2 killer who can do something requires significant time investment, you play killer like its your job(streamers can perform well or whose life is the game). So killers has to face more players in SWF, which in turns frustrates them and lot of killer just switch to play as survivor in SWF, or leaving the game(another reason for playerbase loss)
So in summary:
Solo survivor percentage is getting lower by each week, which in turn increases survivor numbers in SWF, which in turn decreases killer numbers because playing against SWF is really unfair for Killer.
I don't know how could this be ever balanced. If solo would be buffed ,then SWF would get out of hand. Giving comms wouldn't solve because most would refuse to use.(seen in games where comms there but you still need SWF)
Sluzzy burner account?
-
I’m with you - having less fun as killer than I did before the intro of SBMM and boons. If I get matched against a group of competent survivors (especially if they’re on comms), I have to play super sweaty and camp/tunnel for kills. Gens just go way too fast against coordinated teams and some maps are riddled with strong loops next to each other making chases take way too long (but if you let them go, they’ll just go to their boon and heal). Boons have given killers a secondary objective that they never had to deal with before. I play both sides and I’m finding survivor easier than ever and I’m finding killer more difficult than ever.

which role is the most fun? i play solo
I would play both sides. For one, it will give you right to complain that one side or the other sucks to play 😉. There are a lot of people who complain on these forums about one side being terrible to play but they’ve never played the other side. But seriously, playing killer helps you learn how to play survivor better (by watching how good survivors play) and playing survivor helps you learn how good killers play.

I've been having this a lot lately
When I play killer I will usually give hatch to last survivor if they did well in chases and/or were good teammates to the other survivors (unhooked a lot, took protection hits, etc). I won’t give hatch if survivor was taunting, did nothing during the match or wasted my time by hiding forever after hatch spawned.

stop saying the games dying. This now opens the window to Epic Games Store.
Ok so this guy goes to random internet site that gives some numbers without providing any sources for where they came from and you’re using this as proof that the game isn’t dying? 🤦♂️
The only publicly available reliable data are from Steamcharts. Yes, it would be fantastic if we could get player count data from other platforms, but we can’t, so Steamcharts is all we can rely on. If you’re going to draw the conclusion that somehow the player count trends for other platforms are going up rather than down, then please share the data that are causing you to reach that conclusion (and no not from some YouTube guy who pulled the numbers off of a random website).
Edit: by the way, the Steam player count for the weekend peak is down about 7,000 players from last weekend to this weekend, a drop of about 15%. That is alarming for a single week drop. But if you want to keep believing that the game is fine, go right ahead.
Despite its faults, I still enjoy the game and want it to succeed. I just wish the devs would act with a bit more urgency on making changes that large sections of the community have been asking for. Although there could be many factors for players leaving the game, BHVR’s response to feedback (very slow, ignoring common complaints, etc) is certainly not helping

I think they could track things like the tbag, find how many times did they press the CTRL key and how fast, the lantern click, that kind of stuff is done in other games, they could also implement something like that, or create like a video of the game where the mods can watch and check for that stuff, and yet they could increase the punishments of endgame chat anyways
Honestly, if the game is upsetting you this easily, I would highly recommend not playing it for the sake of your mental health. T-bagging and all the other “toxic” things you mentioned are part of normal gameplay. The only real toxicity comes from the endgame chat and you can turn it off.
-
Probably not.
The problem actually isn’t with the system itself. It would work fine if there were enough killer players. But since there aren’t, SBMM will match a killer against whatever survivor group is next in queue regardless of their MMR.

Cool now posts the player numbers for all platforms... You're selective choosing your data and presenting what numbers you want to show, aka cherrypicking.
Cherry-picking? How can you be “selectively” choosing the data when Steam charts is literally the only player count data we have available?

The amount of toxicity this game player base has is incredible, even trying to practice new killer is a nightmare game and post game chat wise so isn't mmr supposed to be separated for different killers? but even in a brand new killer it's similar to my usual matches.
The best thing to do is just turn off post game chat. There should also be an indicator next you your name to show whether or not you have chat active. If someone sees you don’t have chat active, then hopefully they wont even bother spending the time typing vile garbage like this.
BHVR just needs to get rid of the chat entirely. They’ve never given a good reason (or any reason for that matter) for why it needs to exist, and all it does is serve as a breeding ground for toxicity.

So last night. I went up against an interesting team. I was playing Nurse trying to get better at her. Found a comp ready team who thought they were hot #########. I hooked one of their teammates and they decided to shark the h ook and spam Unhook right in front of me. I had managed to get my stuff together and 4ked all of them because of their greed. Then they pipped off yelling at me about camping and how unfun I was. They even said "we are supposed to have fun not killers" and I am just shaking my head. They called me a terrible nurse, and I'm just saying 'But you died though, and you can call me a camper but you were also camping the hook right in front of me. So that just negates what you just called me." This community can be so toxic sometimes. I don't know where all those kind gentle players are but please I need them too keep going on this game. I want to enjoy killer. But Boon totems and survivor toxicity makes it down right impossible to have fun as killer anymore.
The best thing to do is ignore these idiots. They don’t give a s*** about anybody but themselves. Life is much more enjoyable when you stop caring about what other people think, especially people like this who are incapable of thinking beyond themselves.

Supposedly BHVR is deleting posts that provide the link. They deleted my post on steam that contained the link with no explanation of course. Google "DBD player populations and network traffic" and you should be able to find the blog.
This is just sad and pathetic if they are removing these posts. Players continue to be frustrated with the lack of transparency from BHVR, so they have to take matters into their own hands to try to figure out what’s really going on with the game. BHVR obviously allow plenty of criticism on these forums, so it’s not like they are censoring all criticism and scrutiny, but there are still examples like this where they are further antagonizing the player base by actively fighting against transparency. Most people who are criticizing the game love it and just want to see it succeed. Be open and honest with the player base about the problems with the current state of the game and let everyone see the data. This would build a lot of trust and goodwill with the community.

As long as MMR stays in the game and constantly nerfing and ruining survivor gameplay, it will continue to lose players.
New players are dead upon arrival.
Game is not fun sweaty. That is not why it became popular.
It’s amazing that there are so many more survivors than killers (sometimes 50:1 at peak times) when survivor is so miserable and killer is so easy. Super weird!

If you look at certain blogs that analyze queue populations you'll see that survivor to killer ratio is 6:1 in the morning (EASTERN USA) and quickly goes to 12:1 and 30:1 during prime time. At night it can reach upwards of 50:1.
This would seem like the game is dying. Only a few people left that actually play killer.
This is really interesting (and not surprising) data. Do you have a link to these blogs where the data are available? I’d be super interested to read. If I’m BHVR, those killer to survivor ratios are alarming but yet we see they remain hesitant to make any quality of life improvements for killers (actually have done the opposite with things like adding boons to the game). It’s not surprising at all that they are seriously looking at adding bots to the public matches. Pretty soon that’s the only way survivors will be able to play without horrendously long queue times.
-
The Friday peak on Steam this week was about 36,000, which is the lowest I’ve seen it in a long time. Definitely not a good sign and is indicative of the continuing trend of people being frustrated with the lack of urgency by BHVR to address key issues that the community have been complaining about for a long time.
-
No, it’s even more frustrating because it provides even less information about whether or not you’re getting matched with players at your skill level. And just stop it with the “grades are no indicator of skill” nonsense. The red grade survivors and killers I’ve played with/against are far better (in general) than the low-grade players. There’s absolutely a correlation

The matchmaking algorithm is the huge problem, along with throwing everyone in the same queue.
SBMM is programmed to be self-defeating. There's nothing wrong with being a super sweaty 4k hr killer. You should face squads that can handle that, not 500 hr survivors farming Rift challenges. The whole point of the MMR system was to prevent those games, and they've got it configured to do literally the opposite of that as soon as there's a queue.
”Everyone getting thrown in the same queue” - this is exactly the problem. If there were enough killer players, you’d have no problem quickly matching survivors and killers with similar skill levels against each other. The whole problem is there aren’t enough killer players (gee, I wonder why). Most of the time the SBMM system will match next available killer (regardless of MMR) against a given survivor team to keep them from waiting in the queue for too long.
If BHVR would release the survivor-to killer-ratio and MMR data to prove me wrong, I would happily shut up and admit I’m wrong. But I suspect the reason they won’t is because it will show that this is the exact reason why SBMM doesn’t work in this game.

So your a survivor (solo) and get mached with a killer who has 4k hours in this game...you and your teammates all have yellow and green perks.... a garanteed lose.....the first team mate goes down in the first 10s of the game and kills himmself on hook....the second one follows and DC's....so what the real problem here....the fact that this team should never face this killer or the fact that this killer jus doesn't give a ######### about facing noobs.....same goes for swf's facing noob killers.
Its us...players who refuse to adjust our playstyle to the players we are facing.
For killers, you can always get your 4k, you dont need to stomp at 5 gens, camp and tunnel at 5 gens...
for swf's...have some fun, and let killers hook you if your that good, with your skills and team you will always get out.
i responded in a DC tread the other day that got closed cause of my opinion on that....come on BHVR, do you reallly believe players want to DC....i dont like it either but when your games back to back are toxic ( no mather what BHVR says about it) camping, tunneling and stomping in survivor games take the fun away...and if its 1 or 2 games a day...fine, butt the state of this game in 2022 is non stop getting tunneled and stomped. If you really dont want players to DC then adres and fix this kind of gameplay, i sure as hell want fun games that i like to stay in.
Fixing or chanching your mmr is not gonna change a damn thing, we as players should respect eachothers fun a litlle more and that could fix the DC problem, BHVR could do more to reward longer lasting gameplay with more bp for instance.
Enough to think of to fix the real issues.
Today i played survivor, 20 matches, 2 of them i got killers who played fair and respected the fact that we all sucked. From the other 18. i got stomped 11 of them, game over in 2 or 3min....the others i got tunneled out of....so 2 escapes with the help of a nice killer....the rest.....
How can you expect new players to stay playing if this is the state of the game?
Let me guess - you’re one of those killer player who 12 hooks/4K’s with even low-tier killers using no addons and meme perks only even against the sweatiest SWF pro survivor teams.

This isn't so much of a rant but a observation I've since my time playing dead by daylight.
Whenever a new survivor/killer comes out they make some pretty interesting perks that change up game play. I loved that and it made it pretty fun refreshing than using the same 4 perks for years just to win . Then they go and nerf the perk to be mediocre or less viable then you're forced to go back to the same old meta build. I'm no longer interested in getting new survivors or killers it just feels like a waste of time
Rip Boon circle of healing 🙏 💔 😢
Boil over nerf came out of left field though
I know it sucks for survivor players to not have these overpowered perks anymore (CoH is still really good), but these perks were making killer players pretty miserable. These nerfs were 100% needed. I still think CoH and boons in general need additional nerfs so they aren’t the permanent second objective for killers that they are now

Ruining the experience for 4 other players VERSUS ruining the experience for 4 other players...
Killer trying to get kills is “ruining the experience for the other players?” OK…. Next time I play killer I will go hide in the corner and count to 100 before I start another chase so I won’t ruin the survivors’ experience

When I play Killer, I generally have fun. I play a range of killers, Plague, Sadako, Freddy, Twins, Trapper, Hag. When I play, I play really lax and will intentionally let survivors go if they are not good at the game. When that happens, I usually try and 2 hook each survivor, then just chase them down and hook them.
If the survivors are good or better than me, I'll try and get kills. I don't resort to face camping or tunneling-off-hook-till-dead, for me personally, I don't feel that is a win at that point. (Although I did do a test where I face-camped exclusively with Leatherface for 40 games to test to see if it's a valid strategy).
For me, what makes killer unfun is definitely face-camping, I had absolutely no fun doing that until the survivors became so good that I was averaging about 2 kills per game which happened about after 30 straight games face camping, before I got around a 3.2 average kill rate.
Aside from face-camping making the game boring for me, I also found that I really hating playing killer when the teams I went against were so much better than me that I couldn't do anything against them. Flashlight saves, perfect looping, it's a pain in the a*s and is stressful.
Those games don't happen often though. Usually I'm paired with survivors pretty close to my level or lower than my level.
---
TLDR
When I face-camp.
When I face teams much-much better than me.
The most unfun matches for me are when I’m facing coordinated sweat squads running every available second chance perk. If I play “fair” by the survivor rule book, I get zero kills, t-bagged at the gates, “gg ez git gud” comments, etc. I know full well that I’m not great at killer, and I don’t have the time to play/practice enough to be a great player.
The only way to avoid this is for 1) a better matchmaking system that minimizes the likelihood that an intermediate player like me won’t get matched against pro-level survivors; and/or 2) a way to opt out of playing against 3-4 man SWF teams. #2 ain’t gonna happen, and #1 is only possible if there’s a larger pool of killer players. So the root of the problem lies in the fact that most people just don’t want to play killer. If this sounds like an infinite loop, that’s because it is. Playing killer sucks because the matchmaking system sucks because people don’t want to play killer. The problem only gets worse and worse in this infinite loop.
It would be awesome if we could see the data to show the total number of “advanced” survivors who play the game vs the number of “advanced” killers. BHVR will never do this because would it make the real problem glaringly obvious. There are far too few killers at the “advanced” levels, so “advanced” survivors get matched against intermediate and beginner killers so that they don’t have 20+ minute queue times.

Because there are a ton of people who see gaps in grades and post about how matchmaking is broken when grades aren’t even used for matchmaking in the first place and are only loosely correlated with it. I wouldn’t mind seeing a rough MMR bracket indicator, but no indicator either way is preferable to a misleading one.
I don’t understand this rationale at all. You’d rather have no information at all rather than loosely correlated information? Loosely correlated information is still better than nothing.

Not really, I have a friend who got rank 1 on day 3 after the reset, but he's absolutely horrendous at the game. He might escape about 50% of his games, but his average chase is 20 seconds, his longest chase was 50 seconds against a killer who wanted to get 3 PWYF stacks before downing him. He plays a lot of DBD, knows what secondary actions give him a lot of emblem points(like, consistently doing 2 totems and 2 gens per match, rescuing and healing 2 teammates, that's often already enough for 1 pip).
In fact, the people who are really good actually have started playing less in my experience. I tend to have much easier games against full red rank teams than teams that have 1-2 silver or gold players. When I play survivor, my rank rarely reaches red rank anymore, but I am by far the strongest player in my group of friends.
I’m sure there are outliers like your friend, but based on my experience as killer, the survivors with higher grades tend to be much better and looping and have much better map knowledge. My previous comments were a broad generalization about the entire population of players, but with any data set there will be outliers.
-
@Nathan13 said:
Honestly no one really cares what your opponents grades are as they have nothing to do with MMR, so I don’t see a reason why we should see them postgame IMO.
I disagree that it has nothing to do with MMR. I would bet money that there is at least some correlation between grade and MMR. Especially when you see players at red rank 1 like only a week after grade reset. These guys are playing like 12 hours a day, so they’re probably pretty good. It’s true that there will be outliers. The most likely outliers are players who are good but haven’t played in a while, so their grade will be far lower than their skill level would indicate.

I've noticed there's a stigma against killers playing as usual when a survivor disconnects early.
Should the killer go easier in your mind? Let one survivor go or something?
None of it makes sense, it's not their fault for a teammate leaving early.
With that said, what's the opinion of adding a bot to help?
You can play however you want, but for me personally, I think it’s kind of sh**ty to keep tryharding against survivors if someone DC’s. When I play killer, what I do depends on how far along the game is. If there are still 4-5 gens left and survivors are hiding and not doing gens, I’ll try to kill two of them and give the last one hatch. If there are 1-3 gens left I usually let the survivors finish them and just farm with them. This doesn’t apply if I need the extra kills to complete a challenge or daily.
When I play survivor, I roll my eyes and just ask “why” when killers keep playing super sweaty and go for the 3K even after one of my teammates DCs.

This is too much since today MMR is too difficult for killers I only got matched against 1% elite toxic bullies, I didn't win any matches at all. I'm barely new to this game but I have to go against pro survivors but that's not the problem I'd try to improve myself against such players but too many bullies when they're better than you.
This match for example played against ACE and another toxic Claudette basically the Ace is too fast dodged every hit and abuses every tile I manage to down everyone once but couldn't so he keeps clicking the flash light in my face over and over and over and over he kept spamming it every second and when ever he vaults or dodges something he teabags multiple times and does 360 rotations as a toxic gesture and the Claudette was his friend I had to protect one camp for at least getting 1 kill out of the match then they managed to open the game but instead of leaving they kept searching the map for me and clicked flashlights to my face and tea bagged and abused dead hard I can't remember how many hits were going to down them but they did use dead hard the second I hit anyone of this duo.
What makes it even worst I got flamed and made fun of in post game chat .
They kept taunting and used dead hard on the exit gate to teabag and escape in the last seconds so at least make some restrictions or fixes:
-Code it that flashlights can't be spammed that way tons of times in few seconds .
-I noticed every game that survivors will spam crouching after they open the gate so block the ability to crouch at the exit gates or something or rework the mechanics so it can't be used to bully others
-Fix the mmr so you don't get matched with survivors that played the game 10000 hours more than you did literally ? at least make it mixed 1 pro survivor 2 decent survivor 1 weak survivor .
-I had no pressure even if I injured everyone multiple times they had circle of healing and I got body blocked and hooks were sabotaged so please nerf COH
-Dead Hard is too unfair denies you a down and extends the chase much longer against good players and I can't count how many auto dead hard hacks I've gone against because it's impossible for a player to trigger it too many times that easy .
One easy fix is for BHVR to eliminate the postgame chat. Its only function is to serve as a forum for toxicity
-
I think it would be a lot of fun to have some kind of giant practice realm where killers and survivors could mess around together while waiting for a match. The problem is there would never be any killers in there because they never have to wait for a match…

It is impossible to win at high MMR without tunneling.
Then don't. Drop out of that MMR. Let them escape and face more laid-back survivors. You are actively trying to go up against the best of the best and then you complain about them making things hard on you?
If you don't want to have to tunnel, don't tunnel. If you do want to tunnel, do tunnel. But don't complain when people pick the one perk that counters it and you just try to either run yourself head-first into it, or circumvent it with absolutely zero effort, leaving them with a blank perk slot.
This would work if the SBMM system worked properly, but it doesn’t. Because there are so few killers most of the time, the system will match a given survivor group with the next available killer regardless of the killer’s MMR
-
You’ve discovered the unfortunate truth that the SBMM system simply doesn’t work. Most players don’t want to go through the stress and misery of playing killer, so most of the time there aren’t enough killers to allow the SBMM system to function well (especially true during peak times when there are more sweaty SWF squads playing together). In order to keep survivors from waiting in 20+ minute queues, as killer you’ll be matched against whatever survivor group is waiting next regardless of their MMRs. As survivor, you’ll get matched against next available killer regardless of their MMR.

Except they specifically mentioned that they wait sometimes 10 minutes for a match? Wouldn't that say there is a lack of low-mid MMR survivors instead of it being a lack of killers issue?
The OP must play in a different region than I do. I’ve never waited more than a minute for a killer match, regardless of time of day. Most of the times it’s nearly instant. I play in US eastern time zone. If the OP waits for 10 minutes for a match as killer, you’re right it would indicate a lack of survivor players during that time of day so it’s matching with the next available survivor group regardless of MMR.
-
The problem is the lack of killers. The SBMM system prioritizes queue times over “fair” matchmaking. Most of the time there aren’t enough killer players to make a “fair” match without making survivors wait forever, so even if you have a low MMR score you’ll get matched against multi-thousand-hour pros.
As for the reasons there aren’t enough killer players, just read through the list of forum comments on any given day. Broken maps, boons, senseless nerfs of low-tier killers, etc.

Exactly as the title says.
Playing killer at mid-high levels just isn't fun in any single way at all.
You have to play like a sweatlord to win a game, hell even just to down one player some of the time.
Then when you lose you get tbagged at the gate and trash talked post game chat for whatever reason.
Like are the developers of this game actually this blind to what's going on in their game?
It really is atrocious that they've allowed this game to spiral so far down this path to the point where the player numbers are starting to show a very concerning trend.
The game since last August has had a player count drop of 56% on steam (hate to think of the playercount drop on console)
This shows that players are not happy with the state of the game and most haven't been happy with the state of it well before SBMM came into play.
I think a major issue is the way the game is now played even in mid tier levels where killers tunnel and survivors either get bored of holding M1 all game on a gen or get sick of dealing with camping/tunnelling killers. Problem is camping/tunnelling is the only viable strat in the current meta because patrolling gens generally gets you nothing.
The fact that this stupid gamestyle hasn't been addressed and moreover the fact that the survivor role hasn't been tuned since release concerns me the most. They simply just keep adding more and more characters which means more and more perks and it's just digging that grave even deeper at this point.
A game should not make you even more frustrated when you reach higher levels, it should feel rewarding and give you a sense of achievement which this game currently does not. No matter what role I play it's just never ending frustration.
In summary I really do hope they turn this around because I used to have fun with the game and did like it alot once upon a time but if they allow it to continue down the path it's going well then... good riddance dbd.
I feel the same way. Just yesterday I kept getting matched against survivors who knew how to abuse every broken loop in the game. I remember one match where they would run to shack which had two strong loops nearby, so it was basically an infinite loop lifeboat for them. What the hell am I supposed to do? In the end I camped and tunneled for a couple of kills and as per the usual routine the last two survivors opened the gate, waited as long a possible there, and t-bagged me to show how awesome they are. Many of these idiots certainly don’t play killer - why would they? They have way more fun abusing and mocking killers. It’s those kind of matches that make me feel like the frustration just isn’t worth it anymore. I can see now why BHVR are working on bot killers, because soon that will be the only option for survivors at high ranks.

I was going to let her play on my account. Since I have all the survivors and most of the killers unlocked. I only play survivor so the killer would probably have low mmr
Even with low MMR your friend will quickly get matched with pro-level survivors because SBMM doesn’t work. To reduce survivor queue times, the matchmaking system will take any killer available regardless of MMR score

I'm trying to get my friend into trying out and potentially playing dead by daylight. I think she would really enjoy it. What do I say and do you think she would like it?
Good luck. Most of my friends who started playing with me did not play for long because of the ridiculous grind. And that was a few years ago - it’s that much worse now

The fact that no one sees how lopsided this game is. Survivors literally have time to make mini games inside the game. Killers don't have time to breathe for 1 second. And everyone just pretends it's not real. Everyone is just like so why are killers unhappy?
I am dumbfounded
I play after 10 PM and some matches suck, but some are OK. Last night I had a mixed bag. Some teams gen-rushed the crap out of me so I just tunneled whoever I could out of the game. The other matches were 3-4K, but I had to sweat for those with a couple exceptions where there were good survivors matched with potatoes and the good survivors just gave up (don’t blame them).
Playing survivor is way more fun/relaxing but I don’t enjoy waiting forever to get into a match.

Dead Hard should have limited tokens too
but yes, I think it would be a good way to nerf boons as well

Totally not a very serious problem that could impact Behavior far worse than us with them botting the servers to crash them, but it's fine.
Like other major issues that have come up in the past, it won’t be worked on or even acknowledged by the devs during the weekend. Maybe Monday…

Do we have an official acknowledgement of this problem yet from the devs?
It’s the weekend, so probably won’t hear anything until Monday at the very earliest.

Its just feels bad that out of 27 killers like 2 usable at high mmr to achieve results.
I get it that solo survivors dont have the tools to deal with that high power level, but then if they got the tools, then would be no problem to give killers the power to deal with SWF.
So what makes it okay that most of the killers useless at high level?
I like to point out that Solo survivor very bad, but same for killers, and I think the root issue, is that neither got the tools to deal with problems.
Killers no tools against SWF
Solo no tools to be close to SWF
But regardless, why do you think the reason that killers left are miserable state?
SWF squads spend the most $ on cosmetics. Reduce their ability to bully and abuse killers and they won’t spend as much $ in the game. There’s your reason why the game won’t be balanced around SWF squads.

so im posting the same question ONCE AGAIN WHAT DO I DO AGAINST A PLAGUE WHEN MY TEAMMATES CLEANSE AND JUMP ON A INFECTED GEN 10 SEC AFTER CLEANSING THEY ARE GIVING HER FREE POWERS FREE FREE FREE FREE!! what do i do????? they are cleansing next to the exit gates etc. its a joke i had to body block a mf fountain this game since one of them tried to cleanse 10 meters away from 1 exit gate...
Personaly when i play against plague i NEVER cleanse unless its the end and you can cleanse like cross map from a hooked person or from a exit gate to force her away... should i just spam cleanse if my teammates do it too, what do you do?
There’s no counter for idiot teammates…

Keep in mind this is the month Sadako came out. The last 15 days of that 30 day average were boosted by people logging in for her and the related sales. The reason it’s still negative is it was running negative 5% or something for the first half of March.
I don’t see this as a positive at all if I’m BHVR. Past new chapters came with a fairly significant boost of players, and there has been no such boost with the latest new chapter. That’s a bad, bad sign for the game.

I read through the official news topic here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/315687
All it does is talk about how some people favor fast queue times while other people favor fair matchmaking,The way they describe how matchmaking tries to find people close to your MMR and then expand over time to find people further away from your MMR is normal for any kind of matchmaking system, and it sounds based on that post that they'll just experiment with these numbers.
But it doesn't adress the issue that the way people's MMR is decided to begin with is the core of the issue. Based on interviews I've read, MMR for killers seems to be purely based on whether or not you get kills or let survivors escape, and for survivors it seems to be based on whether or not you escape or die.
Do the devs understand that there's more to the game than living or dying? If you're able to play like a god (on either side) and make the match miserable for whoever you're facing, and then be able to lower your MMR anyways by choosing to die at the end or let the survivors escape... Then you can keep facing newbies forever.
And that's the problem... Not everybody plays to win, personally I enjoy dying to the killer at the end, and after reading the interviews about how MMR is calculated it made so much sense why I keep matching with newbies despite having over 1500 hours.
To fix the MMR system, they need to look at more than just whether or not survivors live or die.
the MMR system needs to look at more variables than that. For example, how long a chase lasts before the survivor goes down, percentage of missed skill checks, percentage of missed swings, how fast a killer is able to locate survivors, how much time a survivor spends idling without progressing the objective. These are just examples, the most important thing is probably how long chases go on for before a down, since that's the most skillful interaction on both the survivor's and killer's side.
I apologize if this is very long, it's just concerning that nothing about the MMR calculation itself is mentioned when they talk about changes, and that they only mention how these numbers are planned to be used while finding matches.
The only way to fix the SBMM system is to get more killer players into the game. It will never work with the current shortage of killers because queue times for survivors would be way too long. Offer BP/shard rewards for killers, make quality of life improvements for killers, nerf some of the most OP survivors perks, etc will incentivize more people to play killer. If you have more killers in the pool then SBMM will work better.

So I play DBD daily. First let me point out that I'm a working adult and don't make money off of twitching or just playing DBD. I'm not the greatest survivor, but not a noob either. I play in the early morning and sometimes late evening on the weekdays and morning on weekends. I don't like to play weekend nights due to ten to fifteen minute wait times for survivor matches.
That being said how do some players get to Iridescent four or higher in a week from the 13th? I strive to just get iridescent four before the 9th due to killers becoming even more toxic so they can level up before reset. I play the best I can, always use BT, try to keep the matches rounded out with gens totems etc. Although it always happens that I get camped, tunneled to pip loss.
Now don't give me the snark answer "Well I play a lot lol". So you play from sun up to sun down? Well some of us do need to work. Also don't give me the snark "get good". I do reach iridescent four but run out of time to get any higher.
So what is the secret? Are you all just playing cowered match after match? Do you hook hog every match? How do you avoid never de-piping? Are you constantly commed up with a swift? Is there a time if day where you get paired with killers that are not toxic and give you a chance to play?
Don't get me wrong, if I don't get iridescent it's not the end of the world but how is it possible to get a rank that high, that fast? It's already painful enough just to get to gold with the way the pip system is, so how are players manipulating the game to pip up that fast?
You spend your entire life playing this game and nothing else. Must be nice to have that much free time!

SOUND DESIGN!
Have they ever made a bad piece of chase music? Terror radius theme? Pallet breaking sound? (looking at you sadako) even the default chase music is great in its own way. I can already tell they are going to nail it again with the new legion music + add ons... whoever does the sound at BVHR, I wish I could buy them a beer
Billy’s chainsaw rush scream/roar/whatever the hell it is was pretty bad sound design
