Title is a bit stupid I can agree. But it still shows that maps are still an issue, especially when both newer and more experienced players are having issues with it. Pallets are abundant (except sheltered woods), and there are so many safe/god loops. Maybe I don't mind the post because I can sympathize where he's coming from.
I can sympathize with the map issue as well.
but the title is very much shifting the focus away from the actual problem that is even in the post not really well described.

it's warranted, maps are honestly worth complaining about. Guy deserves to vent.
The title is not warranted in the slightest. Maps and RNG can be bad for sure. Making stupid claims is stupid.
and i am still allowed to vent about these threads as well because imo they are ridiculous and make the actual problems and issues and the actual warranted criticism less noticeable

These threads.

Eh. Optimization of DbD is obviously pretty bad but it doesn’t make much sense to compare it to single player games built from scratch for consoles with a bigger budget..

I agree mostly. I don't like spinning cause it feels like it kinda screws over specifically console players, and it does seem very dumb that you can just spin to dodge, it also very much screws over new players. However I didn't like the feel of the animation they tried. Now I'm not 100% sure on this cause there was a weird desync bug.
Also I don't have problems missing survivors that spin cause of my sensitivity on my controller, but because I'm getting below 30 fps with small lag spikes whenever I do anything.
You think it’s mainly because the fps and lag but while that’s a huge problem on its own, even with high sensitivity controller can suffer with 360s because of auto-aim/aim-assist or whatever they call it.

So being hunted to death quickly, tortured on a meat hook or left to bleed out make the game less horror. you sure you know what horror genre is?
At least describing it like that sounds like completely bad game design.

No. Self-care takes 32s, while CoH takes 18.3s. Numerically it's a huge difference, making Selfcare useless in most situations.

Self care:
Was only usable by a single survivor on themself
Is slow as #########
Very niche
doesn't force the killer to abandon and potentially lose gens cause you placed a boon making the injured state a nonissue
By your logic CoH would be fine if it granted slower (self)healing and the nerf was the right direction?
though I don’t think selfcare is as useless as you both make it out to be. CoH has still limitations, it needs to get booned and is only available within a limited range, in most cases survs have to go out of their way to get there making the selfhealing process in its current state almost as effective as selfcare or even slower.
smart use of selfcare isnt that weak or niche and if the team plays around with it it could make hit and run playstyle as useless as CoH makes it now.
and a smart/coordinated team was always able to reset injuries easily even before CoH.
-
yeah i know them. But I would advise you to edit your post as mentioning sources is against forum rules.
-
Well. Wouldn’t Self-Care also remove the survival horror aspect in the same regard?
i think the problem with CoH is giving selfcare to the whole team while only using the perk slot for one surv.. proposal: leave as is but only grant the selfcare ability to the booner and not the mates.
-
I actually don’t miss those colored tints and don’t want to see them back. Especially because they don’t feel like old slasher movies imo. Now if you would be talking about the old fog (or preferably just a rework of the current fog because that one is ugly)….
Also them using the green tint for the Autohaven rework is also one of the reasons why that rework is one of the worst for me.
-
I actually want to see more core elements/mechanics added like pumpkins and snowmen - no just during events.
obviously the issues with snowmen and certain killer powers should not get added like that, but as with Bubba we see it can be done without favoring survs completely.
As to the speedboost from pumpkins, I actually never had a surv being able to get an advantage against me and neither did I get an advantage from it as surv (actually got hit even though I had the speedboost) - were those really problematic?

Ok this isn't relevant to your post but Jesus P3 Heather without the base torso or sweater just looks weird, they really did her dirty with the cosmetics, they're all crop tops which just don't work with her.
i thought the tops are actually also available as cosmetics in her actual game (don’t know which one of the Silent Hills she is playable..)
i just think P3 cosmetics generally don’t go well with any other outfits.. which is especially sad for licensed chars.

It’s mildly annoying that this one isn’t pinned as the others were… 😕

According to leaks David and the Twins will be the two characters that will be getting Lore.
Feng, Jeff, and the Legion will be the characters getting only challenges, but no Lore.
Would that be the first time where three survs get challenges? Well. guess in the end it’s only leaks/rumours that can change until it goes live…

Prett sure that’s one of the changes they revealed for the live version compared to PTB. This thread was still a PTB info summary..
-
is it being officially confirmed that David is the one that will be the main surv featured next tome?
i remember that once it was rumored that Claudette would get a second tome after being in the first but then she was just the secondary surv, with some challenges and charms but no new tome entries..

You can still up your controller sensitivity but I'm pretty sure it's near the max if you want to avoid all 360s.
But I agree it is kinda annoying being forced to play on a higher sensitivity then usual to avoid this, lucky this isnt a fps lol
I have it on max (actually played around with Steam Controller settings as well to get some basic settings like Dead zone and response curves) and thus I don’t get spun all the time anymore. Just sometimes, especially when the surv has a higher ping..
-
i would actually like this even though I am usually not a fan of those multiverse characters in shows etc.
maybe for select other characters as well, where it makes sense (I think Yui had something in her tome about a killer version? And I actually wanna see Hag/Lisa Sherwood with survivor voodoo perks)
-
Tip: if anyone does get "spun" or anyone struggles with this your sensitivity is likely to slow
*sobs in being a controller player*
i actually don’t remember how it was with the other animations, but the current situation just unfairly punished newbs and players on controller/lower sensitivity..

It makes me think they are changing the rituals completely. We might get more rituals, or separate survivor and killer rituals.
i would not expect that. It wasn’t part of the PTB and it might just be something that got changed in the backend (maybe even something about the killswitched killer rituals currently still in the pool or some other bugs, eg when I try to save up finished rituals sometimes they just disappear…)
-
You can adjust the sensitivity in the settings? Though it applies not only to aiming but to everything that you do with the joystick (looking around), which is already limited…
i guess aiming before actually using the flashlight is your best bet - and hoping that BHVR finally listens to us Controller players and add the minimum of controller settings a game nowadays should have..
-
on which platform are you playing?
how did you purchase the killers (from platform as DLC, shards or auric cells)? or did you have access via family sharing?
are you using the same account you bought them as, are you using cross Progression via BHVR account?
I think you should contact support (following link) and describe them the issue/answer the questions to them:
-
I actually asked this very question in a dev Q&A stream and they answered that they won’t do this.
i guess at least they are making those cosmetic contests and factoring in community feedback and suggestion for balancing etc.

It might also be based on frequency of disconnects over a longer period of time somehow. I've DC'd twice in the span of a few hours and only gotten 5 min bans for it, but I don't do that nearly every day.
Iirc it’s:
first dc: 5 min
second dc: 5 min
third dc: 15 min
fourth dc: 1 hour (or was it 30 min?)
and so on. Only got that far (actually til 24 hours( during a time when my game just crashed constantly…
it does reset after some time, so it would start at the beginning again. But as I said, how long you have to not dc is not officially revealed.
-
Well. I guess that would be too much since it’s still possible the game won’t survive that long. But I guess even though you were jokingly asking I did inform myself and knew about it :)
(also BHVR does apparently even support full remote work, but I don’t know to what extent and if it applies to any position/team)

I have always said, "Maps are the lifeblood of Dead by Daylight" the more maps the better, We must make sure that BHVR too wishes to overflow our senses with different locations, so that every match will forever be different with help from the random nature of the game.

Damn I wish I was a Map Developer, You take interns BHVR?
yeah they do:

Depends on the killer of course, but generall yeah its possible. Either get the gate until shortly before the light comes wait for them to check and go to the other gate or if you can sneak away open one gate until 1/2 lights are on and then go to the other gate and try your luck there.
some killers can pretty much deny this, though that’s also possible for other maps. Demo for example can pretty much check on both gates simultaneously with their portals. Also Whispers pretty much denies it as well on most maps..
-
No but genuinely, if you are not okay, reach out to friends/family/a therapist to talk about and solve this. You are showing kinda concerning behavior here on the forums.
and if you don’t want your comments/threads talked about publicly then maybe don’t post them in a public forum. Of course it’s not okay to get harassed for it but i don’t think that has happened here (though that might be of course subjective viewpoint on my part and you perceived it differently).
-
It doesn’t reset to 5 min after exactly 24 hours, so if you recently got disconnected and already had 5 min it does escalated if you are disconnecting again in a specific timeframe after.
the exact timeframes are not officially revealed as to not support/promote dc-ing every x hours
-
If you are being harassed on your Steam account I think/hope it should be possible to report that to Steam directly so they can deal with the offender. At least it should be worth a try and if the harassment goes too far it might actually be just a matter of time until they find your new account anyways..

Can we please finally nerf Blight? He travels around the board too fast. It's not fair that he can pass Go almost every turn and collect $300
just take a flashlight and shine it directly into the players eyes. They won’t see the board anymore, ez.

@Gamedozer7 said:
I'm so glad there are devoting resources to making a board game instead of fix there game. Forget optimization, some kind of balance,a declining playerbase but hey at least we got a board game.
Damn. How in the world would you…?
wait. I don’t even wanna know..
yeah. You are right. They are directly taking resources (money and employees) from the balancing and other teams to create the board game. Sure.
-
yeah, if a licensed killer was the strongest (Nurse, Blight, Spirit Tier) then we would have massive complaints the game would be pay2win.
also your list is just very subjective. Hillbilly for example is clunky and has a high skill floor since the rework but he is far from weak. Hag is also pretty strong though i guess very map dependent/situational (and suffers greatly from CoH Meta). Didn’t even look at the list any further than that..

Oh I'm not sure, I know they finally confirmed the kills/escapes and the backfill etc. And how it worked but didnt know they touch on that part.
I'll take your word on it if you're sure though, makes it easier than quoting leaks
i am not that sure about it, hence me saying ‚i think‘
but i an fairly sure. Maybe i will look at GBKs summary’s tomorrow if I find time (and motivation), should have been in one of those… probably.

That's not strictly true, sadly this SBMM does an average and puts queue times before the best matched games. So you could have a mid mmr and a high mmr survivor verse a high mid mmr killer for example. You also have backfill, which widens the brackets alot.
This next bit is leaked (same people who first leaked it was kills/escapes before the devs admitted it) and they say theres a soft cap of 1900, this means you can go over that but still count as that mmr (simply to help lobby times)
I think the soft-cap existing was actually confirmed by the devs. Though obviously not the absolute number.

Survivors will just revert to the old meta while killers will keep complaining about survivors sticking to the meta.
No one expected this outcome.
-
@EntitySpawn said:
Well if I'm not high MMR with an 82% escape rate over the past few days then I dont know what is.
While no one can say for certain, we know escapes increase survivor mmr and kills increase killer mmr.
So if you escape far more than you die or get a 3k more than you do a 1k then you're obviously climbing the SBMM.
But iv played for 5+ years so I have a ton of experience and can tell when people are playing well.
Although this SBMM is very bad so it honestly doesn't mean too much
Though the numbers do increase/decrease depending on your opponents MMR and hatch escapes as well as matches where at least one survivor disconnects early don’t count.
in the end you are still assuming but don’t know for sure if high or low, or whatever in between

On steam, you can report their steam profile, when you make a ticket,it asks you for their profile, you cant give it to them if they're not on steam on other platform.
Yeah, you are supposed to fill in the gamertag and mention in the issue description that it was a crossplay player.
it’s sadly not at all described in the actual process though. But that’s the official statement i have seen here on the forums.
-
As a reminder, these are by no means the only changes The Onryō will ever see. Between a PTB and full release, we’re mostly focused on smoothing out some of the rougher edges. As we’ve done with past chapters, we’ll continue monitoring her performance over the coming months as she settles into the game before revisiting her to determine if further changes are needed.
-
if you go againts steam cheaters, you can at least report them.
you can report crossplay players.
In hindsight,if you play on console and disable crossplay, you are 100% cheaters free
not true as cheaters can circumvent this and play against crossplay lobby’s even if they have it disabled…

Ds,blinding also counts I think,head one,pallet stun,flashbang,blast mine.
There is more value in killer not knowing which direction you want than people give credit for.
Yeah. But there is still the Meta that most survivors won’t drop for this.
i am not saying it’s a bad perk, but it’s very likely not going to be the new meta.
-
but you need to stun the killer to even activate the effect…
there are other perks that would accomplish this in a more reliable way..

Everything that was stated above was through a survivors perspective. I always play killer. i get no advantage of dqing and coming back, in fact it would make it harder or impossible for me to win.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2825906#Comment_2825906
Because when the game crashes there is a crash report with everything that happened right before the crash. When someone rage quits they press leave game. I don't think it's hard to implement. And if I reconnect and just happen to be by the hatch as it's open and get to close it I would just be lucky. It's better than giving players free wins and me a penalty for something I had no control over. I don't see how they would need to redesign the whole game. If you're a killer and game crashes, let the killer come back.
That’s two possible dcs. And I have experienced the game crashing without giving me a penalty iirc.
And you didn’t even acknowledge the situations i described and there are plenty of other situations that would need some kind of redesign.
also what @rugby_hook said.
there are way too many issues that you don’t even try to acknowledge…

Can you give me a source? I have never heard that they stated why.
What platforms is Cross-Progression on? As of right now, cross-progression is between Steam, Stadia and Epic Games Store. Will I be able to transfer all my purchases to a different platform? For the most part yes, however Auric Cells and some virtual goods will not transfer due to licencing restrictions. Virtual Currency,…Sure
-
And If they actually have trouble doing crossprogression (maybe for liscensing reasons), then they're bad with communication.
thats exactly what they have been telling us though. And since it’s for licensing reasons they legally can’t tell us more.
-
I guess pallets are pretty neutral and fit in better in diverse maps/settings. Especially in the way they are standing around, anything else -like the bookshelves- would probably look weird in those tiles..
