Bubba with Bamboozle. He chews through pallets legitimaty faster than any other killer and leaves the entire team with no protection. That wrecks most teams because normally predrop-and-W gives them a minute or two more to work with, but unless the Bubba is going agasint a really good team then it's a pretty easy win.
And his ability in general: If he's near an unhook (not even talking camping/proxy camping) he can get two downs in one go, even if BT is in play.
It's broken, and i'd love to see if the general toxicity goes down if people don't have access to their iWin buttons.
Compromise: Same weekend we bar deathslinger from M&A and Spirit from Stridor use

What's wrong with licensed killers ? Do you want to face even more Spirits and Nurses ?
It's what I want to see, tbh: if there's really be more spirits etc, or if the game would get more relaxed.
LBH: Bubba and Freddy especially have a gameplay that is too easily exploitable, which also lead to their high pickrate. They're iWin buttons. Pig and Ghostface are better balanced, and michael is michael.
-
It's what's been pointed out:
There's a very crass 'win at all costs' mentality plaguing the game. and not just 'win at all costs' but 'win at all costs and humiliate your opponent'... Y'know, one of the most unhealthiest approaches to anything one can have.
-
But have you forgotten the dev's golden rule?
Frustration is fun and makes the game more exciting!

If it's any help, it will boil down to people playing search & replace with what they tell Deathslinger mains

The game's an utter mess, and by now it's not an easy fix:
- General game health updates are needed posthaste. Bug- and glitch fixes, performance on low-end machines etc.
- Dynamic gameplay to make the game fairer: Things like denser grass or equal when people play trapper or hag, more hiding spots and more ambient sounds when playing spirit etc.
- Cleaning the perk pool. There's too many perks, and a lot of them could very well get combined.
- Counter the grind. E.G. let people sell items they don't want.
- Make challenges more interesting. This includes better rewards for dailies.
just to name a few things that ought to get done.
If they fix the game and make it more interesting (NOT competitive) it could easily attract a bigger playerbase, which would mean faster queues
-
The new autohaven has a very weird contrast going in the lighting, that seems to be the main issue.
-
@Beefmur said:
the fact that they dont stop adding killers' to fix balance proves that this game isnt competitive and it makes me sad because this game would be so much more popular if it was
No, if it were 'competitive' it'd sink amongst the mass of such games.
What the game needs it's more dynamic gameplay, and more to do. The ought to take a leaf from Warframe, not Warcraft
-
@Beefmur said:

Alright, so you want to make competitive. how do you propose that would be done? In a way that's actually fun, and not the genrushing, slugging mess we are seeing from people that thing you gotta play competitive
-
People leave BECAUSE of how hypercompetitive some people play it. Genrush, 4k slugging, standard metabuilds en masse... People playing competitive is the problem, not the solution.
-
Depends on how they've been playing. If they did well the last surv can have the hatch, if they've been a pain in the rear i might slug. might usually i don't

It would be enough if they listened to the people who do play a lot :D
Sure, but they can be just as all over the place. I mean, look what happens when you ask the forum alone if camping, slugging and tunneling are legit tactics or obnoxious cheats. Or if there's counterplay to deathslinger.
Personal opinion is the devs ought to play their own game more regularly to get a feeling for what community input makes sense and what is some people just wanting an iWin button

I love this game so I can't really decide if it's time to take a break until I'm in a better general mood, I was hoping some of you guys could help me decide, sorry that I'm asking a question like this but I'm in a very unsure and hateful time of my life and I need more input on what to do here. Take a break or keep trying to play?
I'd say take a bit of a break from the game itself. Maybe get creative and write fanfic or do some art, or score the fanworks and read a bit. but I'd say take a short break from the game itself.
There's a lot of toxic brats in the game that play only to ruin other people's day and feel great about it, all you can do is hope their path in live will be full of legos.

To me, it makes no sense to chase someone with an activated RBT. He has other things to worry about.
I think you can always just stay with yourself and play the way you want others to play. Whether they do it or not - you have no influence on it.
Maybe we'll see each other in the fog.
we'll see :)
As for why people do that... I guess it's as said for the 4k. The game really needs things that encourage different playstyles...
-
@gatsby said:
Winning a chase means that you're distracting the Killer for a long enough amount of time that your down wasn't worth it.
If the Killer leaves you, it's not a good thing unless you already have 1-2 hook states. If a Killer won't chase you at all, it probably means they're tunneling out your teammates or have something like Rancor/STBFL.
That's one of the main reasons Dead Hard is so popular at high ranks, because it's only used when a Killer is committed to a chase. They have to have played well enough to have earned a hit to even see a Dead Hard. Killers don't have the option to ignore you after you burn your exhaustion perk like they can with Sprint Burst, Lithe, Balanced and Smash Hit.
'if the killer leaves you it means they are tunneling.'
Or, y'know they could just not waste their time with you without tunneling?
Sometimes killers will just abandon a chase to move back closer to the gens.
-
Another fact:
Warframe's team is SMALLER while it's community is BIGGER, and that's not just on the genre.
I think BHVR just doesn't have a plan on what to do or doesn't dare to try something new for whatever reason. And I think in part the vocal toxicity of this community is to blame:
Whenever someone suggests new modes, brings in ideas for new gameplay elements, etc, watch them crawl out of their holes and curbstomp things to preserve their precious 'genrush and loop the killer ad nauseam'/'slug for the 4k' tactics.
Until the devs don't start telling that part of the community to bugger off, I doubt dbd will get better.
(watch some of the aforementioned toxics crawl into here now and bring up how not that many people actually stopped playing dbd... ignoring that there's a constant influx of curious newcomers that often leave fairly quickly because the game is like it is)

I wouldn't say she is a noob crusher. She also works very well in purple and red ranks.
I can only speak for myself and I tunnel rarely, never camp and get along with her just fine. I have more problems with Clown or Trapper and have to work harder to secure my kills.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2021945#Comment_2021945
Exactly. We want to get through all the gens in 5 minutes and escape! The mantra of most survivors.
That just doesn't work for pigs.
I like to play with her and against her. They are usually exciting rounds.
Even if there are black sheep among the pigs who irrationally tunnel people with the beeping RBT.
And I have played against pigs that will actually ignore trapped survivors if they see the survivor is trying to stealth to the boxes or got sandbagged.
And major kudos to those pig players that ignore trapped survivors when a gen popped. (had two or three of them so far, and they still got their kills in fair and square)

''On one hand players don't seem to take Piggy seriously as a killer because it's too weak, one of the bad killers etc - but then there are these posts where yes she is so unfair? That doesn't make sense to me. ''
Pig is a noob crusher that why. It like the pre rework Freddy, it strong against people who use the ''usual'' strat to counter M1 killer, it the same issue people have with Ranged killer, bad survivor complain that they are strong in chase. Strong survivor know that you need to make them waste time aiming at you near wall and cover rather than looping them like other killer.
not a 'noob' crusher. A killer with an ability that cuts straight through the 'do gens and loop the killer' MO so many people have on survivor side, not just on low ranks. In fact, on low ranks it seems more likely that people will stop doing gens once they know that activates the timer.
And on killer side you often have the '4k at all costs as quickly as possible' approach. Immovable object and unstoppable force...
Pig isn't unfair as such. But the combination of factors makes tunneling extremely tempting and, well, easy, so that's one of the things that's ought to be discouraged by the game. cause heaven knows some players won't play fair.

I don't know what headcanon is. I'm French, it could just be an English word I don't know yet.
Yes, it's kind of a personal fanfiction. I was just wondering if I was the only one creating my own world while playing.
Ah, I see. sorry for having been snarky.
I met too many people who would act as if 'headcanon' and fanfic are below them while their own ideas about lore etc (that are just that, headcanons) etc are something superior. I was wary. I'm sorry.
As for your question:
Personally I have yet to meet anyone in any given fancommunity who would not have their own ideas etc about the characters, lore etc. I know such people exist, but I think they are rare.
What usually varies is how much someone indulges in things like that: Do they just have small bits and pieces 'filling in the gaps', or do they have big, elaborate ideas about things. And how do they react towards official lore?

It's called headcanon and fanfic.

you can disagree but my points have more weight.

In an ideal situation with an experienced SWF, sure.
But other survivors tend to circle around on the outskirts of a hooked/tunnelled survivor waiting to rescue, wasting time, and ultimately throwing the game once the tunnel survivor dies and they become the next target.
Killers tunnel and camp because it works.
and then devs and community managers say that 'sometimes camping/tunneling/slugging is necessary' and when you go and ask 'when' you'll have a chucnk of the community get all preachy about how important the 4k is and how you have no skill if you get less than that.
the community.... is a mess

It's.... fascinating.
Each time anyone here, on twitch, anywhere, brings up issues with any given killer, GENUINE issues on why the killer is easily exploitable etc, people will, like clockwork, come out of their holes crying 'just git gud, learn 2 loop and do gens'... unless it's a killer that isn't broken but meddles with their MO, then they rage and rave and rant how a killer must be removed from the game entirely.

If you want to say it's reasonable go make the entire player base not finish gens when a RBT is on someone in fact go play a few games as pig and see how often they 99% gens put on ruin and it will rarely happen.
Your right that it's what players should do but they don't do it and you can't do anything as a solo to change that.
when it comes to play styles no matter what you say it's relevant because there are always people don't care or know about X thing in this case not finishing gens. This is not a case of bad player decision it's simply an inability to change how others play especially when it comes to this since it's actually better to finish gens if this addon combo isn't being used but then we get back to a lack of info.
Because you can't change how others play or think as well as the fact that they don't know to not finish gens or even if the combo is being used it is therefore unreasonable to say it's the survivors fault.
nope. still can't follow your logic.
The problem does lie with people so stubbornly clinging to that genrush MO that you by now can use it against them.
Like, imagine if we'd get a killer who's TR permanently shrinks if a gen is finished when someone's hooked or if some other unique thing is active or something... people would STILL genrush and then complain that the mechanic is OP and unfair
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015819#Comment_2015819
it's unreasonable because you have no control over the other players actions and good luck convincing the player base to not finish gens along with them remembering the advice in the first place.
take plague obviously don't cleanse but whatda people do especially solo's?
I'm trying to follow your train of thought here:
you are saying it is unreasonable because upon knowing they are up against pig players will definitely avoid applying a tactic with the highest survival chance (99ing gens and only popping them when no one has a trap on)? Are you saying people will ALWAYS apply their genrush MO no matter what? (I mean, looking at them crying bloody murder over Deathslinger and PH cutting chases short... you kinda have a point, but still)
And as for plague: Is not cleansing really better? they changed how the pools function after all, so by now the better tactic would be try to cleanse as far away from the rest of the group as possible.
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015751#Comment_2015751
Point was this is a tactic that is unreasonable to expect all players to follow
for that reason no and with ruin the point is survivors will finish their gens.
why exactly is it unreasonalble?
All players know they are up against pig. It'd really take some very, very rarely occurring combination spawnpoints for boxes, gens and players, and of when someone gets a rbt to cause a situation in which a gen pops just when the trap goes on without the people on the gen having been aware its a pig.
Thus they should always be able to at least 99 a gen, find ruin (you only need one person looking) and redo the bit of progress lost on the 99ed gen.
The unreasonable thing to do would be to power through the gen and massively increase the chance of losing a teammate.

Let's assume five boxes.
The odds of you finding the correct box on your first attempt is 1/5 (20%), because you have five boxes and only one correct one.
This means you have 4/5 chance (80%) of picking the wrong box on your first guess. Once you pick a wrong box, that box can no longer be selected, so the number of remaining boxes to guess from goes down to four.
The odds of guessing correctly from four boxes is 1/4 (25%). When you multiply the 4/5 incorrect first guess by 1/4 correct second guess, this means that you have a 4/20 or 1/5 (again, 20%) chance of finding the correct box from the initial five boxes in exactly two guesses.
For three boxes, it's 4/5 guessing wrong the first time, 3/4 guessing wrong the second time, and 1/3 guessing right the third time. 4/5 * 3/4 * 1/3 = 12/60 = 1/5 (20%).
For four boxes, it's 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 = 24/120 = 1/5 (20%).
For five boxes, it's 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 * 1/1 = 24/120 = 1/5 (20%).
Isn't this a deadlier version of that thing with the doors and the goat?

@Eve13 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015295#Comment_2015295
Yes, this is a major problem. Survivors prefer short matches and don't care about the extra tasks that are there. That's why we always have NOED discussions here in the forum.
And the fact that customization doesn't seem to be wanted. The gameplay needs to be adjusted for each killer, that's just the way it is. Everyone has killers they don't like, find OP (my Achilles heel is Bubba btw) and want changes to.
But Piggy's traps are not what they were in the beginning and I think, both as a killer and a survivor, that she is fine the way she is currently. But that's just my 2 cents.
another potential 'fix' would possibly be to actually give out more points for the secondary tasks. maybe

Unfortunately, in most cases this is not true. If someone walks past me with a beeping trap, I'm fair enough to ignore him if gameplay allows me to. But, if the trap isn't even activated? Then why not try to hide for once?
The whole thing happens the other way around, too. When I play Survivor, I save someone from the hook, the mask isn't active, so you can check out the boxes in peace I want to heal you with WWL so you don't run noisily across the map and then get rid of it in your mask, so why does almost every Survivor run away headless?
Pig doesn't need a nerf, people need to learn to go play it. Whether as a killer or a survivor, I see a lot of people just going headless and not knowing how to face it.
It's the idea that the match must be 'won' as quickly as possible.
I mean, look at people ignoring lit totems but complaining about ruin/devour. look how many killers with insta-down abilities slug before the first gen popped. etc
It's all part of a big problem the game has and which the devs have already admitted they won't tackle. :/

Well you already can't really do gens with a reverse bear trap. You will die. Remember, the timer pauses if you're in chase.
I think to simply fix pig would be to remove the jigsaw box rng element firstly as well as make the timer pause off pig's proximity so she can't proxy you in stealth until you die. It's hard to make reliable data of a killer that relies so heavily on good rng.
I've had countless games where I've been forced to remove the trap and died on the fourth jigsaw box. Is it my fault? Of course not but that says the Pig has killed me statistically.
Pigs ambush is a great power is very versatile on short loops. I think Pig's biggest issue is the slow crouch speed. It isn't fast enough. Buff that.
that you'll die rarely stops people. that's the thing, I guess: people are so set on 'doing gens' that they just... ignore ?... all factors that say that it's a bad idea.
whether they are the ones with the trap or a teammate. it's bizarre to behold.
As for the 'not get knocked down' @Pilot : I'd say you simply can't be put in the dying state from being injured. you can still get the injured state, maybe.

It's mostly random.
A character could have a wacky design but have a great lore.
The new survivor and killer is a great example.
Their lore is so interesting and not to mention immersive that I consider them to be the most realistic duo ever.
On the other hand, characters who look completely normal may have unexpected lore.
I think the reason this happens is because a lot of the killers are super old or have weird powers so the devs have no idea on how to appropriately make them seem believable.
with the new killer and survivor it feels really weird to me, a bit as if they were meant to be one character originally.

wasn't there something about the new killer originally being meant to be some sort of mimic (having the name 'trickster' actually make sense) but he was turned into this haphazard hybrid of huntress, legion and deathslinger because the original concept would not have allowed for a lot of chases and it was more important to uphold the 'beloved' status quo of the gameplay?

the rest, i think, comes from how unwilling the devs are to shake things up and introduce new modes etc. this limits what killers can do, still the devs insist on pumping out new characters

-
as others have pointed it out before:
the main issue is how little there is to do in the game, and how many big streamers push the idea that you must completely devastate the 'other' side when playing (because it attracts views), meaning some people are drawn towards killers that have easily exploitable powers, no matter how balanced they might appear in theory (because lbr, the devs rarely give the impression their ideas for how a killers will get played are based on actual gameplay).
Spirit has this issue, as do bubba, pig, freddy and to a degree deathslinger. Huntress and clown get this with their iri insta-down addons that atm work at short distance, and let's not speak of myers and the tuftstone combo.
These killers get such a bad reputation from people who are abusing exploits to pretend they got the biggest skill in the whole community.
And it's sobering how the devs encourage scummy playing time and time again.
