haha, no.
After devs introduced tomes, they just screwed the lore with those stupid retcons.
I'd rather learn the lore from Benedict's observations tbh
They had a lot of potential with tomes, but they wasted it into retconning and boring cliches that doesn't connect to the old lore in many noticeable details.
to be fair, I'd say only the nurse and maybe julie and hag are sizeable/massive retcons. All other tomes so far kinda fit

Yes, but since you can't control the power of the throw, you can't really use it for super tricky shots.
give it time and people will find a way to make it 'rain knives'

Additional question:
Can he throw in an arch? I haven't seen anyone try?

I mean you can do it even before then and you are unlikely to be banned. You have to go pretty ham with the AFK as killer to get banned.
Like, forcing de-ranks and such, or AFKing super early on for a lot of games.
even then.
Like, if you have killers that are afk-farming, they ought to get yeeted. But everyone else... like you dunno what came up for the player to have them go afk (e.g. a friend had their cat tear down the curtainrod. that has priority over the game)

as others have stated:
The whole bloodweb idea, not just in terms of map offerings is severely outdated.
It's bloated and frankly absurd by now, especially since we can't sell things we don't need, but are forced to waste BP on them

If I got rekt and/or I know I can't do anything more to win or get at least one more down, I'd just run on the map using my power for a little bit more of point or looking for pallets/breakable walls to destroy.
And why tf should that be bannable, lmao? It's not even a bad manner. I'd rather see the little kids who stay at the gate like they wait for a hit and dead hard away get banned. Congratulations, now I don't give the last hit at the gate anymore.
wyh do people actually stay in the gate, healthy, waiting to get hit? like... just leave.

Yeah, they must be. Those endings are STUPIDLY similar.
honestly, reading through the lore it almost feels as if the survivor was meant to BE a killer (a siren or something) and the lack of gameplay variety put a stop to that, so the joker-expy was shoehorned in

I'd advocate for cleaning up the perks first. there's a lot that could be combined into one perk.

I was actually using Tinkerer but hearing the explosion noises started to annoy me after a while, so I swapped it for something else lol. I haven’t tried Dark Devotion Slinger before, but I like the sound of that... 😏😈
i started using Dark Devotion, Tinkerer, Bloodhound and whispers... aka the 'Cotton Eye Joe' build. it works surprisingly well

If they don't strafe, shoot them. If they do strafe, aim to where they keep strafing to in order to hit them, or just hold forward to gain distance on them. There will be some insane shots you can make like through tiny gaps but they won't get you the down, so only go for those to get a survivor from healthy to deep wound.
I found going for trickshots whenever you can can be better: It startles people, giving you a window where they are too surprised and sometimes outraged that the shot hit to react. <3

You don’t need them, but they’re fun to use. I always keep M&A on Deathslinger and Myers as I love getting jump scares on people. M&A is terrifying to face against them both as they just appear out of nowhere lol.
Personally I found the combo of Tinkerer and Dark Devotion to work better, sure, it's two perkslots, but it has a high chance of startling survivors so much that it kinda doubles as a gen control perk in its own
-
I'd say take the build petals gave yuo until you feel secure in your shots. Then shake it up for whatever. M&A and STBFL are things you don't need once you're decent with him.

Bruh. People have always emulated videogame character's aesthetics. But nobody is going to go out there and become the DbD Serial Killer. I've seen a lot of dudes emulate Sephiroth in my time, but I've never heard of anyone going on a samurai sword killing spree through the streets because he did the same to ShinRa HQ.
we are not talking about cosplay here.
We are talking to how people with specific harmful mindsets are drawn to liking certain characters and using these characters as justification to be harmful towards others.

@Miles said:
I realized that yun jin lee's lore is kind of strange, because that end seems to point more to her being a killer. Its almost seems too sinilar to the spirit's Lore
to be honest: I do think the devs ARE running out of ideas cause they are clinging to the idea of 'there MUST be constant updates bringing in new killers and survivors' so stubbornly that it's counterproductive
-
For everyone saying there is no correlation between characters like this in fiction and violence against women etc in real life perpetuated by those who thing these kind of characters are 'cool'.
There is long since the notion of 'if you date a guy and he says 'fight club' is his fav movie etc, RUN'...
Because while liking a fictional character does not equal you wanting to be them, but there is an overlap of what kinds of characters certain people like (and why).
so, you are being quite ignorant when you say there's no chance anything bad could come of this because the character is just fictional.
-
We need a good mix of this and what you call 'sob stories' on killer side, just like we need a good mix on survivor side.

To be fair, when people say "politics" when talking about games, they tend to mean "things I don't agree with".
Hence the point of my joke where people seem to think that acknowledging that gay people exist is 'politics' but games about nuclear war and ultra-libertarian underwater cities are just dumb shooty shooty bang bang toys.
it's a little sad how hateful people are going through life....

No I just wanted an excuse to post the cow and then I saw this post and was like "YES IT'S PERFECT"
If I'm actually gonna answer the thread though, I'd like the new content to be put on hold. Yeah the game may get stagnant with no new killers & survivors but if there's gonna be an actual load of fixes and ######### for game health I'm all for it. I'd rather be slightly bored of the characters but have newly balanced perks and maps and character reworks than a new character.
good cow <3
As for content. Like, dunno what you think, but I'd like (on top of health updates) questline chapters. that would e.g. unlock special offerings that can be used to do additional stuff on maps to finish long questlines or something.

I doubt we'll see anything til the map reworks are done.
Which maps are left? Coldwind (i think that is set to be next), swamp, haddonfield and... I think that's it. Coldwind is a big map pool, sure, but the rest is 'just' three maps. it might work out in time for ch20
EDIT: Maybe lery's and Hawkins, as they don'T have breakable walls yet, but... do they need them?

*looks at yui's backstory*
*looks at Jake's backstory*

*looks at Jane's backstory*

I'm normally one for representation, but personally I find it bizarre how people can be so hung up over things like sexuality in a game that doesn't even have dialogue or meaningful character interactions, never mind romance.
Hell, I don't think the game even implied any kind of real romance between The Legion characters, and they're clearly a bunch of teenagers who don't know how to deal with their raging hormones healthily (I haven't read all their hidden lore tho, but I want no spoilers so just say if I'm wrong and leave it at that).
Is Dwight gay? Maybe, but he's not going to be picking up anyone in the middle of a trial when he can't even say "ouch" when a machete lodges itself in his ribcage. I get that minorities are often starved for the ability to say "oh look, that character is like me!", but does your headcanon really need confirming in this situation?
That being said, I do find that story about people shitting their pants and refusing to playing Soldier 76 in Overwatch to be ######### funny. I love how the same people who like throw around the word "snowflake" tend to be the biggest ######### insecure eggshell princes.
People want to feel 'seen' as in a feeling of developers saying
'yeah, we know you exists, we acknowledge your existence, you are humans, your are not broken, you are valid'.
The game doesn't need dialogue or romance.
The bigger problem is that (as noted elsewhere) if a sadistic, god-complex killer would be the first lgbtq+ character, there's a issue. Because look at the history of especially hollywood (Hayes Code, for example) that had a character being lgbtq+ as a shorthand for them being evil and that they needed to be destroyed.
AKA exactly the kind of portrayal that people are fed up about and why they want actual representation.

This is a game where sexual orientation is barely mentioned and I can't think of any relationship aside from that between Frank and Julie. For all we know every (non-licensed) survivor could be gay, that's completely up to the player to decide. Unless the sexual orientation of a character is functional to ther lore/persona, it could feel forced and out of place.
Besides, you don't fight homophobia by shoving homosexualy down the throat of homophobes. If anything that would push them even more away.
David's ex girlfriend is mentioned, Felix has a pregnant girlfriend. That's two already.
Also, it would be a bloody bad idea of the devs to have the first lgbtq+ character be a sadistic, self-righteous godcomplex villain...

ALL Human = "H. sapiens."
This is actually scientifically written as a scientific name. But some people seem to deny the scientific name altogether, so it's quite awkward.
"All human beings are scientifically named Animalia/Chordata/Mammalia/Primates/Hominidae/Homo/H. sapiens."
😊
it would have taken you just 2 seconds more to find that the 'homo' in homosexual stems from a different language (greek) than the 'homo' in homo sapiens (latin)
Also the current humans are 'homo sapiens sapiens' in latin, something your statement casts doubt on
EDIT: for those genuinely confused and not just being queerphobic trolls:
Homo in homosexual, homogenous stems from 'homos' meaning 'same' in greek
Homo in Homo Sapiens is latin for 'human'

Council of Geeks on ytube has some wonderful videos on how things can be done well, especially the question of 'characters that happen to be LGBTQ+ vs characters where it is their sole defining factor'
Like, cross your heart, if we'd get a new survivor that is an Oscar Wilde expy who fled their country because of persecution before they did things elsewhere that got the entity's attention, would you really cry bloody murder over this character's sexuality?
-
I'd say people dislike him because he's flashy, but the real problem is what impression he's cementing
The game is at a point where the 'new chapter every quarter brings new killer and surv with three perks each' formula isn't oanning out anymore. Yet the devs insist on it, much to the harm of the game and the community. If the meadow's flooded you'll drown your cows, no matter how green it was a year ago, as the saying goes.
The new killer is a more imbalanced and weaker version of what you could get if you combine huntress, legion and deathslinger. There's a sense of lack of inspiration, something that has already been present with the past events, challenges and cosmetics. it feels he's there because it'll draw attention and 'hopefully' new customers in the form of kpop fans.
All in all the new chapter feels (not necessarily is ) like proof that the devs are definitely out of ideas and really ought to look into new ways of making money from the game.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I dunno about that, but you should get like 1 mil bloodpoints or something on PTB log in.
still. it's rather counterproductive to the idea of testing to not just have a ptb where you have all three tiers of perks available right away etc.
-
What worries me most (said this elsewhere) is how the community will handle things in terms of those that like the new killer vs those that don't.
Because chances are people will celebrate and woobify him, despite him being literally everything (the same) people hate about deathslinger and worse, and what they use to harass deathslinger players/fans. Just watch it happen, i'm taking bets
-
Y'know...
The new killer is literally everything people hate about deathslinger AND did all the stuff people only claim deathslinger totally did/must have done. Y'know, the reasoning people use to harass those that play and like deathslinger? be it for gameplay, lore or both?
But watch this new guy getting loved because... i dunno why. all while you still can't admit that you like deathslinger without getting harassed

I agree but I guess we all now they will never do that. They need to farm that sweet sweet money
There'd be other stuff they could have... like, (mentioned this before) questline chapters where you'd unlock special offerings that double as activator for stuff on certain maps that let you work your way through lore-related quests, ending with getting e.g. ingame currencies, special charms and several themed cosmetic sets.

I have to say. It is f*cking annoying when a survivor vaults 10000 times a window. It is a noisy noise. I am not saying that this idea is good. Just saying it annoys me. :)
that's.... the point. now, one could argue that it is 'a tactic to not have the killer be able to hear other survivors' but that argument falls flat when you realize that when it's an swf they're not even doing gens or anything and if it's a random they usually don't run perks to even know what's going on. so, yeah they're just trying to be annoying to get a cheap win through DC. aven is quite possibly so salty cause that's their MO.

I don't think players should be punished because the opposing side gets mad at them when they make their character crouch repeatedly.
I'd love to see the game rid of actual toxic behavior like being an ass to someone in endgame chat though.
this goes hand in hand:
People that are toxic in endgame chat are those that will be toxic in gameplay (trying to annoy the killer to the point of DC on survivors side, and tunneling, camping, etc on killer side). the moment you punish the behavior during the match you massively reduce it in the chat.
