People want to feel 'seen' as in a feeling of developers saying
'yeah, we know you exists, we acknowledge your existence, you are humans, your are not broken, you are valid'.
The game doesn't need dialogue or romance.
The bigger problem is that (as noted elsewhere) if a sadistic, god-complex killer would be the first lgbtq+ character, there's a issue. Because look at the history of especially hollywood (Hayes Code, for example) that had a character being lgbtq+ as a shorthand for them being evil and that they needed to be destroyed.
AKA exactly the kind of portrayal that people are fed up about and why they want actual representation.
I was mainly talking about survivors here. I forgot about the new killer when I put down my rant (only just looked into it today), and frankly you'll see no real counter-argument from me: I'm aware that Hollywood had a nasty reputation for making sure certain crowds are only presented in a negative light if they are presented at all.
I must say though, I don't really see anything in his lore that really suggests to his sexuality. The story seems far more focused on his narcissism and need for attention than anything else.
Is it just because he looks like a pretty boy? *shrugs*

Yeah, but also LGBT+ thread and I wanted to call it out because no-one seems to remember the franchise even exists, let alone had LGBT+ characters in a time it was very uncommon...
There's a Mass Effect remaster that the internet is blowing up over and you think nobody remembers the series?
Fair point about LGBT relationships being damn rare at the time, but still.

To be fair, when people say "politics" when talking about games, they tend to mean "things I don't agree with".
Hence the point of my joke where people seem to think that acknowledging that gay people exist is 'politics' but games about nuclear war and ultra-libertarian underwater cities are just dumb shooty shooty bang bang toys.

I'm normally one for representation, but personally I find it bizarre how people can be so hung up over things like sexuality in a game that doesn't even have dialogue or meaningful character interactions, never mind romance.
Hell, I don't think the game even implied any kind of real romance between The Legion characters, and they're clearly a bunch of teenagers who don't know how to deal with their raging hormones healthily (I haven't read all their hidden lore tho, but I want no spoilers so just say if I'm wrong and leave it at that).
Is Dwight gay? Maybe, but he's not going to be picking up anyone in the middle of a trial when he can't even say "ouch" when a machete lodges itself in his ribcage. I get that minorities are often starved for the ability to say "oh look, that character is like me!", but does your headcanon really need confirming in this situation?
That being said, BHVR can do whatever the hell they want, I have no objections to them saying "Dwight is gay because he's gay and he doesn't owe you a logical explanation". People, "forced" means that a token minority is thrown in when it literally makes no sense. With the exception of things that would actually clash with the setting/mechanics/whatever (e.g. there's a reason why we don't have any survivors zooming around the map and vaulting in a freakin' wheelchair), these things don't really need much explaining to make the character fit.
Also, I find that story about people shitting their pants and refusing to playing Soldier 76 in Overwatch to be ######### funny. I love how the same people who like throw around the word "snowflake" tend to be the biggest ######### insecure eggshell princes.

While the concept of intelligent diseases is cool, AFAIK there's nothing to suggest that the plague itself is any more intelligent than any other disease on the planet.
Hell, I don't even know of any movies where the disease was particularly smart.

They/their/them is constantly offered by the trans and non-binary crowd, mainly because the "did you just assume my gender?!" meme blew up so much that people actually think they're in danger of a hate crime for making an honest mistake in trying to guess someone's preferred gender.

I'm so glad cuz Leaks was calling for a FNAF crossover and I do not want that community hopping over to DbD LOL
While the idea of a crossover isn't impossible, so far every other licenced character has been one that had little to no chance to being in their own games (with the exception of the demogorgon, although I'm pretty sure the stranger things game wasn't very good).
I seriously doubt that a horror series that already has a good thing going with associate itself with DbD. They even made their own 4v1 multiplayer game, and that was INCREDIBLY inventive!
Then again we've seen Street Fighter joining forces with other fighting giants Tekken and SSB, so... wishful thinking never hurts!
