Except this isn't the real world? This is very much the internet. Stores don't stock halloween costumes all year because the cost-benefit to those items taking up display space isn't worth it. There's no such conundrum with an online store.
Artificial scarcity is not a consumer-friendly practice. And I wouldn't care as much if it was just the new cosmetic run, but now they're grabbing huge swathes of content that used to be available year-round and limiting it because ~exclusivity~, and I see no reason why this will not continue into their other holidays. How can you possibly view that as a good thing? Is there some reason you think that shirtless Felix and pajama Feng should only be accessible in December?
No. I don’t agree with what they’re doing as far as all the other cosmetics that have been for sale year round, are now being considered limited.

I've done karate since I was, like, 7. My karate instructor, in the time that I've known him, has gotten married and had kids, two of whom have pretty severe autism, and a trait they both share are that they have very, very poor impulse control (one kid once swore in front of his entire class because he just couldn't contain his excitement and the first impulse was to scream ######### YES at the top of his lungs, absolutely pissing myself when I heard this story). One of them is now in their teens, has a part time job while going through secondary school, and is about to start college next year (couldn't be prouder of him). He's at the stage in his life where he's responsible for most of his own money (parents keep half just to make sure that he doesn't spend everything he has, which is reasonable), and I've been told that he's not allowed anywhere near gatcha games, fortnite, or any other game that capitalises on FOMO because of that poor impulse control, that they've been working on for over a decade with him on literally since he was born. That poor impulse control that he's doing his best with but just can't get on top of.
Is he weak minded, would you say, because of this? If his parents weren't as good at monitoring what he does online, and he'd fallen into issues because of FOMO tactics, would you still call him entitled, or even his parents, for thinking that these marketing tactics are absolute scum?
Just so I know where you stand on this issue, truly. Because he's an incredibly strong person, to have battled through what life dealt him and be sitting higher tier papers when even getting into class is an effort for him each day.
That's not him being weak minded, that's him being vulnerable, and that's why this tactic is so predatory. Because it literally preys upon people like him who haven't had parents like he's got. And if you'd still call him weak, then I dread the day one of your kids comes to you with a mental health issue.
You understand there’s a rare exception, right? This example is a big reach on your part

It may not be beautiful in the way it is done, but it is a legitimate business commercial practice.
If you want to buy it, buy it. If you don't want to buy, don't buy.
If you don't want it now, wait a year. If you can't wait, buy.
I don't want to buy skins as fast as possible. I didn't even buy the toilet paper Halloween Dwight yet.
It's a business point of view... . "It's only for this time period of the year!" I am just saying. (Although it would be more helpful to state that it will be re-released at the same time next year... It would probably sell better if you didn't.)
Well, I hope that the game will improve with the money paid by those who bought it. Maybe I don't even have the right to expect the game to get better since I didn't buy it, lol.
The game is not going to improve, might as well enjoy the new cosmetics.

When the economy is in a big downswing, prices are soaring for everything and anything, it is also christmas time so people with children can't frugely spend on themselves because we have to make this time of year special for kids. I personally bought most of my christmas cosmetics back in early november when I knew my money would not be as tied up. Now because of these stupid changes I won't be able too do that for next year and since they release around christmas I am kind of screwed. Especially since me and my wife have a rule during christmas not to buy anything for our selves.
Thing is I used auric cells to do that in november. So whats the difference if I buy them with auric cells now or later? Why do they have to leave?
I do have children actually, I also knew these skins were going to be released some time ago and that I would want the majority of them, so I also planned accordingly. They never just release new cosmetics, we’re always shown them well ahead of time.

Yes, that is how things like FOMO work. If you have any investment in something, even things like cosmetic skins in a video game, then that's an opportunity for marketers to exploit with the idea that this thing is only available for a limited time, so you'd better get it now.
The amount of "I don't personally get it so I can't accept that it's bad" in this thread is amazing. This isn't rocket science or top secret! It's not a fringe theory! It's well-studied, which is why so many companies use it.
that make no sense. You can’t comprehend if you want something, buy it. If not, move on.
It’s not unreasonable. You can’t buy seasonal things year round in the “real world.” It’s the same. BHVR isn’t responsible for your FOMO.

Just seems ridiculous. I would have to have found someone really offensive or just unable to get to a hook, to bleed them out…so yeah, I just can’t imagine anyone wanting to waste their time over nothing.

Not that this is a rare occurrence or anything, I just think that this kind of thing is interesting. Killer hasn't gone AFK or anything, and I've been alt-tabbed for a couple minutes doing some work on the second monitor. The whole time he's been standing over my body, occasionally shaking his head, dancing with the crows, wandering off for a moment before coming back and doing the same. He isn't afk. He's standing there, actively doing things.
Why this is interesting to me is just the idea of someone finding enjoyment in something so mundane. They haven't gone to make a sandwich or watch YouTube or anything while they troll other players. They're still in the game, having the time of their life, violently shaking their head at my body even though they're getting no response from it. This after three DCs too.
That's all, really. I just find this kind of behaviour very interesting.
I mean, look how much you write about it so…must have bothered you some.
And you fail to mention what you did to make the killer feel doing this to you was worth their time…

Gyes buying knight was the worst mistake of my life. I thought they fixed him but its much worse than that, if anything hes worse than the PTB. His power gets stuck on environments such as rocks and trees, for some reason on one of the houses in haddonfield you can't go upstairs with his power. THERES a stupid OP bug where if you activate his power the same time as being stunned you get like 15m/s movement speed. When deploying his guard a survivor can just hold W in a straight line and outrun the guards. The guards also can get stuck in between environments. THE guards can also become glitched if you fall from a large height they simply are stuck in the falling animation for a few seconds if you crouch underneath them.
Hopefully this description of what he is will deter you from purchasing him until hes actually playable.
I really don’t understand what everyone is on about, I did buy him and I really enjoy him. Idk why everyone is saying he’s so terrible.

I do like some of these ideas, particularly the speed boost when someone is stuck in a trap far off. I like that a lot.
I am a Trapper main, and he’s great when you first start out..but once you start going against nothing but high level SWF’s, it’s hell. Even the wins feel terrible.
I think Trapper even just starting with all his traps, would make a world of difference. Not the traps that can’t be moved. When you’re going against experienced SWF’s, you really don’t have sufficient time needed to not only set up all your traps..but go collect them all first 🤦🏻♀️ It’s a lost cause. I keep fighting the good fight, but everything working against Trapper really sucks the fun right out of the game.

No, it's probably just an attempt to create a false equivalency.
In my experience, killers DC less overall, and when they do, it's usually not until at least mid-match. DC after multiple coordinated stuns/blinds? Sometimes. DC after 5-6 minutes of getting dominated in chase? Sometimes.*
Killer DCs after the first blind/stun? Not sure I've ever seen it.
Conversely, a surv might DC the second they realize Lightborn is in play because their whole game plan was to get blinds, and they are unwilling to play any other way. Which is why it is best to hide that you have it until well into the match, if possible.
*there is no excuse for DCing, but these are the situations most likely to result in a killer DC, in my experience.
I think this response is perfect, and so well written.

When I first started playing dbd I was someone who never really played video games before (not counting Mario and Animal Crossing ..and dabbling in MK😂) I watched my boyfriend play for months before I was like, I want in on whatever this is…
I still think of his patience as I told him things like, “I’ve gotten really good at escaping, I just hide in the lockers and then I go straight for the gate.” I genuinely didn’t realize this was so wrong. I’ll never forget the day I was like, “you know I’ve gotten really good at escaping after hiding..I think it’s time to maybe learn about those generator things.” 😭😭😭 Anyway, looking back idk how he wasn’t like, “ma’am what is wrong with you?”
While I’ve become an excellent survivor with lots of time invested in the game, turns out I’m a much better killer 😅 but I still at times regret becoming so addicted to this game. Can’t stop/ won’t stop/ wanna stop 🙂

Here is the kicker...it must be paid with bp earned in a match after the person incures the debt. So can't dip into your bp vault. It's not 100% fool proof but I bet it helps.
Let's say you get 100k debt from DC you'll be playing at least 4 free matches. They could also just freeze bp wallet till debt is paid.
The more I think about this, the more irritating it is…like it could work lol if I had to pay 100k BP and play for nothing, until it was paid…that would make dc’ing more discouraging

I understand some people have a bad connection and dc because the wind blew in their dirrection....but... this needs a fix.
So what ever is an acceptable amount of dc per month per player after that acceptable number....(this will be determined by the devs) anyone who does dc after that should incur a blood point debt say 30k. then take that 30 and give it to the remaining players that didnt dc.
now the next match that player who incurred the debt must pay that before earning anymore blood points. so if they do really well in their next match it would be paid off in a single match. At the first of the month the acceptable amount of dc number resets but the debt never does...
Problem solved... your welcome...
This is too easy. A DC ban is much more inconvenient. I always keep a minimum of 1 mill BP on hand, and would happily Gg ez NP pay 30k to leave a trash match. So idk, doesn’t seem like a fix..but a good idea…maybe w some tweaking.

Ya, I don't know, but I am playing now, five matches. 1 afk killer, 1 DC killer once match started and three ghost faces. Which compared to yesterday is a pretty good ratio of AFK killers to actual matches. And what i mean is when you have that many AFK killers all your doing for all those matches is completing the generators and opening the gate. So staring at a gen progress bar, open gate, collect BP. Which I guess for some people is fun? I dunno, I am a casual gamer, when I log into a game I want to play it, not sort of collect resource points for free. Thats not fun to me, and if I maybe so bold AFK killers collecting BP points is an exploit you would think the runners of the game would want to discourage.
Oh okay, yeah I get you..that would be boring. Random that it happened so many times in a row. I’m sick of ghostface 😅

Hard disagree. And so have the developers, with the way MMR was implemented. A killer who gets 8 hooks and 0 kills didn't play better than a killer who got 4 hooks and 4 kills, because they lost the game. 4 hooks and 4 kills is just called efficiency, how you achieve it is largely irrelevant
Devs only care about kills, I only care about kills. I can get 3 hooks on 3 different people, and have accomplished nothing. Or I have 3 hooks on one person and am now in a position to win the game
Playing for 12 hooks is for the birds and survivor mains. Cause guess what? You still get smack talked at the end if you 2k'd with 10 hooks. No real reason to bother with that nonsense imo. I hard tunnel and camp almost every game, because it's the best strategy with most killers
That’s disgusting and shows lack of skill. You must really enjoy your 15k points at the end of every hard tunnel/camp match.
As a killer main, I never thought I’d say this…but I can’t wait until your MMR is really up there and a skilled SWF effortlessly mops the floor with you…and then it happens over and over and over. Because you’re using purely camping skills to get you up there w the big boys, but when you arrive you won’t have the skill to hold your own. Enjoy your four hook wins though.

- I post singular screenshots of games to send people that specifically make ridiculous claims like that guy ^ who will swear that because he 4k'd mediocre Survivors without perks a handful of times that ALL Killers can easily do that at will against any Survivors in the world. According to him, anything less than a 4k in ANY match is solely a skill issue for Killers based off nothing. The only thing they'd probably provide is anecdotal evidence which is my point
- Every time a person rebuttals with 'But that's just one game you played, that's irrelevant' they prove my point. I don't post to brag, I post to point out how ridiculous the other person sounds. If the person says one game I played doesn't matter then neither does the hyperbole they mention because of their own anecdotal evidence. You attempt to disagree with me but ironically agree with me at the same time
- You don't see me going around saying SoloQ doesn't need changes just because I reguarly win in SoloQ, therefore people shouldn't defend or gloss over when people like that do the same
- Also, I don't believe you understand how the game works if you think endgame results = everything. A person can express high skill in chases and interactions throughout the course of a match but still lose the game at the end. RNG is a thing, if you think DBD is solely skill based then you're just as lost as the first guy. He WAS a good Oni, but yeah tell me more about how if a Killer loses = they couldn't have possibly played well and displayed skill
I’m sorry I don’t know how to quote only specific parts of the post…but on the last paragraph..I think what many others fail to realize is that you can be a very good killer, but also going against four survivors who are all really good survivors…so now you have one good player vs. four on a team…that usually also have coms…of course you can lose and still be a good killer.
And idk why that’s such a surprise to so many people. If you had the best survivor in dbd against four equally skilled killers in one match, do you think they’d have an easy time clicking, looping, and gen rushing their way out of that match? Probably not. But…they’d still be a good survivor.
