I find pallets waste more time than they gain, due to the timing factor. The stun on the killer is too short. Considering how much faster a killer runs compared to a victim (even without perks), I believe that less hooks is a better mechanic.

If pallets waste more time than they gain, we can just remove them all togteher? I am not sure whether your fellow survivor mains would agree with that though

  • @Kalwren said:
    This is my opinion.

There are too many hooks. It's entirely too easy for a killer to hook a player.
For any perk that increases the killer's walk/run speed - a certain number of hooks should be removed.

With so many hooks, wiggling seems pointless. Hooks shouldn't be convenient for the killer to walk to (they're almost everywhere. My average count is 6 to 9 seconds to walk to a hook and 20 seconds to wiggle free). Hooks should be as time consuming to walk to, as generators. Generators are spread out, all over the map. Hooks should be the same.

Wiggling is not supposed to give you a free escape.

Anyway, I ask you one question. Do you like being slugged and bleeding otu on the floor?

@Master Yes, you're right: killers have to spend a sum every game, but there is no proportion between the greater gain and the greater expenses. Let's assume a killer uses two very rare add-ons per trial on average (and it is definitely false due to excess): then, they need 12,000 extra BPs, in theory, but in practice a good killer totals 40,000-50,000 bloodpoints against 15,000-25,000 of a good survivor, that is 25,000 extra BPs, i.e. the double of what they should deserve in the optimistic hypothesis (often false) of two so precious add-ons burnt every time. I don't want to subtract even one point to killers (the idea of punishing them simply doesn't belong to my mind), but survivors' reward must be quickly increased of at least 10,000 BP on average.

@not_Queen @Patricia @Peanits @Suggestive Dear Devs, please rework survivors' endgame compensation, to make it mathematically fair. :)

You forgot to take into accoutn WGLF, apprently you took BBQ into accoutn though?

ALso you shouldnt forget that you have to spend a lot of excess BP for useless stuff in order to get the good addons

  • I find that survivors, for some reason, think that the killer is supposed to get the hook, aka "score" then immediately walk away to allow the survivors to unhook, heal, and try again, where he then tries to get another "point" by hooking.

That's not how the game is played. i don't even think that game would be fun. If you do stupid stuff, i will take advantage of it as the killer. It's that simple. As the OP said, if you have 2 people do gens while 1 unhooks, it's guaranteed you get 2 gens while the unhook/rechase goes on. When you send 2 or even 3 to the hook, you risk losing the game.

Go watch many of the rank 1 streamers. Truetalent, hybridpanda etc this is what they do.

Hook one causing one person to get off a gen and unhook and heal, meanwhile they're already chasing down a fresh hook.

Hookinh one and then sitting there only works in solo games when they cant tell if killer is camping or not. Guess thats why so many killers lobby dodge and cry about swf, because then their camping doesnt work LOL
Funny that you mention true talent,  yes he claims he tries to be competitive but at the same time he refuses to tunnel and camp which definitely is the best thing to do in certain situations.

Also true talent is very aware of the swf brokenness and he gets genrushed regularly because he plays all killers and not only nurse/Billy.

He even lobby dodges certain swf, and no its not because he can't camp against them
  • Yeah I made a longish posh a few weeks ago and it never posted. You basically have to copy everything before you post such that you can repost ....

It's so stupid, but we'll similar to certain stugf in thw game itself

After some research, i now have to keep track of it as much as possible, and when it finally arrives, i have to quickly go to my old city (100 km from where i live) and try to intercept it.

Thanks again BHVR and Games Legends, really.

A bit over 31k people playing. I am only at rank 10 right now with killer.

And I have been waiting about half an hour now. Finally got 1 survivor? What gives?

I knew survivors didn't like or "couldn't make it" cause it's just ever so hard to be past rank 15. But rank 10, really?

Reopen the lobby. Sometimes they are straight up bugged.

Sadly BHVR still hasnt fixed this problem

They cannot just "fix" a problem that's related to there not being enough survivors to go around.

I get survivors without problems at green ranks.
Dont act like lobbies are workign properly and its just a lack of players, because this simply isnt the case

And yet survivors have not problem getting into a killer lobby instantly. Soon as I press join I'm in a lobby and it's been like that going from rank 15 all the way to 1 for me. Sure it's not always a full lobby, but it is a lobby and I will bounce to help fill another if it is taking too long...like 60 seconds. There's a bug all right and when they fix it, you will be averaging out your instant wait times with those who wait forever - so you can all wait for the same amount of time for a game.

You all don't get it - survivors are NOT missing your lobbies. When that bug is fixed it isn't going to magically make more survivors appear to fill everyone's lobby quickly.

The 3 man lobby bug isnt the only bug when it comes to lobbies.
In fact there is a bug where you open a bugged lobby and noone can join, if you dont restart this one you can wait forever  > @Radiant said:

    Is. The. Nerf.
    Get over it guys...

    Need another proof?
The bloodpoint event right after the halloween event (that gave BP too) to try to call back some surv... weird, no?

    STATS

    • From July, when the exhaustion nerf happened (together with other nerf to surv and killer buffs), the playerbase has decreased steadily (ring any bell?)
    • "Last drop" Patch happens on 16 Oct and then...
    • Saturday 20 Oct: peak 51k players
    • Saturday 27 Oct: peak 44k players
    • Saturday 3 Nov: peak 34k players - when everybody was supposed to come back after event

10k less players per week after the patch.
We will see what will happen...

    Source: https://steamcharts.com/app/381210#1m

The event annoyed me so much that I don't feel like playing DbD atm, even though they have this bp event atm

If survivors actually leave the game because they are slowly losing their ez games, then dbd is doomed. However,I will only believe that if queues are still that bad in a few weeks.

It's kind of hard to see how powerful survivors can be when you are playing with randoms, but there's so much strength in numbers. Almost any survivor would change their mind about tunneling/camping being unfair if they played a killer to rank 5 or so. Play one to rank 1 to really drive the point home.

Without tunneling we would have to cycle each player, and considering that the average match above rank 10 has 1-3 gens done by the time the first person is downed, there would be almost no way to win the game for the killer.

My killer is rank 1 and camping and tunneling is for bad players. The only time it's reasonable is dying light or bm'ing survivors. If they have 1-3 done by the time you down someone, you don't belong at that rank.

Explain the thought process at work here. Someone achieved the same result as you with a different (let's say easier, for the sake of argument) strategy. How is the fact that you handicap yourself and they don't a problem with the way they play?

Because it limits the game for EVERYONE involved. Hence you get ######### for kills and ######### for BP when you camp vs competent players. Campers basically prey on players who either are bad or counting on playing against bad players who will not do gens while they camp or who will try to save someone they're camping. 9/10 times if you're playing against good survivors you won't get ######### camping.

Indeed. Competent survivors use their brain, laugh at you when you camp and take their free escape that got handed by them by an afk killer

Tunneling and camping have always been debated but they start deserving a little more attention now that survivors got nerfed in everything and that we would be given limits even in taking a #########.

It's time to give some importance to the harsh experiences that survivors have in this game as well as it's been given to those that the killer had, and one of these is to deal with tunnelers and campers; not one good killer main needs that, many of them disagree with that play style and it's in general really unfair and unfun.

Not once you could say that it's fun to get camped or tunneled, and you don't want the game to be unfun for neither one of the sides, don't you, Behav10ur?

Survivors used to be hard to be gotten on their first hook, so, to a limited extent, camping was even justifiable; but now being hooked is something that has to happen by force at least once during your game unless you're playing immersed or the killer is playing his first game on Dead by Daylight, and thus the killers shouldn't be granted the possibility to play unfair against you in the moments when you're most vulnerable and when you can't do anything at all.

If I was to play with a Survive With Friends team, not only I would have an easier chance with some teamplay to escape the tunneling/camping, but I'd also understand why the killer would do that, because he's having a hard time too in doing anything against us and he might be inexperienced and feel the necessity to play somewhat unfair.

But now we're coming down to the point why I'm writing this post: I can't conceive dying to this unfair play style when I'm playing solo, I'm not using any "crutch" perk or addon and I'm not teasing the killer in any way at all. This just can't happen and be all normal, especially if I'm on rank 1, killers that play like scumbags shouldn't reach any rank higher than 15, and that's it.

Do you want this not to be bannable? Don't make it bannable, it's fine, but prevent it to the fullest from happening, give the killer some huge debuffs if he tries to hit the just unhooked survivor as well as giving no damage to the survivor himself, freeze him if he stands around the hook for too long, don't let this ######### happen anymore, these are just ideas:

it's the end of 2018 and if there's one toxic and lame strategy (which you bhvr guys loved to call "legitimate" and "valid") that ruined the game since its beginning and that probably caused many players to quit it from the gold time that it had in 2016, that is the killer sitting around your hook once he's done catching you with you not having half a chance to escape from that.

It's just time to either provide any valid motivation (not as valid as you claim that camping is as a strategy, since it isn't) why you wouldn't want to touch this in any direct way, or to actually abruptly apply some drastic changes to the hook context.

Now, I did vent some anger in this post since I'm really tired of dealing with this and even though I've got 1200hrs in the game I'm disabled from doing anything against it, but I really am convinced about what I said here, those are just 100% no-fun strategies, you don't want to keep them in the game, not one decent person in the community is glad of it being a thing, some just take it but nobody would disagree with it being gotten rid of.

Oh boy, another one of these "I don't like how killers play so I think they should get banned" threads.

I don't think that that is necessarily the issue.. MOST matches up to level 10 are "Fun" and playable for everyone. Even the killer. However, as I and others are seeing more and more beyond level 10 killers just camp the surivvors and the gen spawn points are such lately that the killer doesn't even need to frigging move cause the gens are spawning in a circle radius around center point where he is at. So all huntress has to do is hook someone in center then just stand there. Camping is a problem at higher ranks BUT I think this is more an issue of balance than anything. Anytime devs nerf one side whether it be killer or survivor they fail to balance the other side.

If you're talking about the 3 gen strat, that's not the killer's fault, that blame falls on the survivors who only have genrush on the brain.

    Thanks!

I never claimed to be a good killer! but I clearly recognize one when I have one in my game!
You have to admit when you come across a player killer who plays well and one who does not play, it is the same for the survivors! (I'm rank 1 so I'm talking about killers and survivors of the same rank)

A good killer in a survivor main's eyes is a killer that does not kill them.

I had games where I literally ran behind survivors doing nothing just to get hunter points and didn't hit or hook them and after the deranking spree I had tons of +reps on my steam profile on how good a killer I was.

We literally do not care about your opinion on this matter.

    Yeah its sad.
Maybe BHVR should really think about an AI killer mode

  • You seem to forget that you can play survivor totally fine without using items/offerings at all, but a lot of killers are addon dependent. Additionally killers lose their stuff every game, even if they win

  • You are not entitled an escape.

Wiggling is only supposed to keep the killer frmo bringing everyone in the basement

  • The game is not balanced aroudn high level gameplay.

Either you switch to nurse which is the only killer balanced around SWF or you derank

Deranking is not bannable, dont spread false information.
    Only DCing is bannable

True thats not toxic, just like tunneling and camping arent toxic.
However clicking the flashlight is toxic

Camping depends on the situation tunneling is debatable imo it also depends on the situation if ur tunneling with 5-3 gens left its toxic if you're tunnelng with 1-2 I can understand that. And clicking the flashlight is toxic as hell

Tunneling and camping are both strategies and neither of them is BM. BM is when you hit a survivor on hook or you mori cancel someone, stuff like this.

In fact, tunneling is just the killer using his brain because clearly it woudl be dumb not to tunnel, but I know that survivors prefer killers that let them escape

I know there has been various threads where we have disagreed on this, and i fully respect your opinion on it (i think i've argued with you a few times on this though). I do think like you said killers are actually being clever to camp and tunnel as it's such a powerful strategy, but my problem is i don't believe it should be as powerful as it is, considering how little skill it takes to do. I've always believe that though the devs intended it, it should be slightly nerfed, to encourage more high skill plays. Obviously a nerf would have to be very well thought out (things like it not working when survivors are nearby or the gates are open) and i believe the first time the devs did this, it was very poorly executed. I don't exactly think camping and tunneling are toxic, i more think they are stupidly powerful yet low skill strats that need to be nerfed

Camping is straight up a bad strategy. I dont understand why survivors always throw themselves at the killer, its as if they were childs that dont learn that you shouldnt touch hot things.
Camping doesnt take any skill to do yeah, but it relies on unskilled survivors too, its basically a strategy for "pleb games".

Tunneling is just how you chase your target, it has nothign to do with skill because you still have to catch it.
Tunneling only is a thing becuase it is common sense to do it. No killer (usually) wants to ruin a survivors game, but its jsut the only way how to play the game against more competent survivors.
Ofc there could be changes possible, for example incentive to get fresh hooks, but survivors always prevented this because they consider this as killer buffs.

I'm sure there as many intelligent survivor players who could see the benefits of incentives for fresh hooks as there are narrow minded ones that couldn't see the benefits, so im sure it wouldn't be that bad, hence why i haven't yet given up hope and i still argue for a camping and tunnelling fix, despite the abuse i receive from killer mains for it. The irony is i actually play more killer than survivor, but the whole reason i don't play survivor is that you get so severely punished for being good. If you last a while in a chase, you get camped and pretty much sit on the hook until your dead (even borrowed time can't counter camping+tunneling) Im not saying i want to escape every game, im saying if there was a fix that buffed higher skill play styles and nerfed lower skill ones, then the game would be more fun for everyone, as killers wouldn't have to sit at a hook, and survivors could get hooked more than once before they die, but they'd still die just as often.

As a killer you should know that too. If someone loops you for several gens and you comit to the chase, then you cant simply let a free unhook happen after that or you lose the game. Its sad, but thats hwo the game has been designed

  • DCing needs to be punished.
That we even need to talk about this is outrageos and ofc every other game punishes disconnects in a competitive environment. in DBD you can even derank by DCing, do I need to add sth?

It's a scummy way to win and that's coming from a guy who plays Nurse... I agree with Louis they need to be nerfed but the killer mains cried when the devs suggested a built in kindred. Survivor mains would cry if it was given an unwanted buff. We got borrowed time I'd honestly leave it as it is since both sides will just cry if they touch anything .-.

So how about giving incentive not to tunnel?
Camping already is a really bad strategy, and now is even punished by the emblem systme. I think its fine as it is

I'm not sure why you're conflating exhaustion reset with unhooking, but it's fine and does not need to be reverted. This is how balance works.

Sometimes a risky unhook is necessary, for instance it's much better to try to get a survivor unhooked if they're about to go into phase 2 even if the killer is nearby. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Getting 0 BP is way too harsh. It's fine as it is now.

Your opinion is how balance works? How do you mean that?

If you go for a risky unhook, then YOU should feel the risk, and not the victim on the hook that is farmed by you

I agree, but why remove I-frames and exhaustion reset? That doesn’t encourage farming, it’s the one saving grace to live a farmer.

It doesnt encourage farming. It punishes the killer for a survivor misplay.
The farmer should be punished because he is the one doing the misplay

workaholic is basically a tinkerer perk which got removed because it was difficult to balance addons alwasy keeping tinkerer in mind.

in need of help. The numbers are too high on this one, 75% faster animation is just insane, also your exhaustion resets after unhooking anyway (for some reason), how woudl this work with that perk? Two sprintburst stacked? That would be ridiculosu too^^

@Master @Wolf74 My post's meaning is that people cannot be condemned to certain defeats, because they have no friends to play with, provided that no clauses compel players to make parties, so the game must be balanced for solo players, who paid to have fun not less than SWF players. Pardon, but how could I communicate with French, German, Turkish or Chinese players? O.o

English, almost everyone who is playing can speak english (except a few russians from my experience)

Let me be more precise. What they need to do is add ingame voice comms and then balance the game around voice comms. Even with this strategy, SWF still grants an insane advantage. The ability to choose your own teammates is such a big advantage that other games force "SWF" into different queues because it would simply be unfair to match "SWF" vs "soloqueueers" EVEN THOUGH the game offfers ingame voice comms

  • Yes one chapter (1 killer+1survivor) every quarter

  • You wont get banned for deranking, I dont know where you pulled this from.
Deranking by afking isnt bannable at all and you can even DC to derank within a certain degree because their punishment system only triggers if you exceed a certain rate.

Yes its kidna ######### up that this is the solution, but DBD is kinda ######### up in general if we are honest.
Imaging deranking in any other game, players would literally laugh at you and shake their head

Personally I kinda gave up on DBD, the rank system will probably never change and I derank too now. Whats the point of trying to play competitively as long as they dont fix their insane balance gap between solo and SWF and adress genrushing? Exactly, none

Now ofc deranking takes quite some time, so I suggest doing it in the background. Watching a movie? Run a few games of DBD. Every 30 min pause, stretch and start a new game (thats healthy anyway  )
Playing another game (non-performance hungry), start a few games of dbd etc

And a last thing, freddy might be terrible when you try to play normally, but he actually is a beast when it comes to deranking. Survivors cant bully you in the dreamworld, so they will get bored and leave instead of flashing you for hours and tbagging in front of your face to farm points.

I never understood how they do pranks in the US.
Are they not scared to be shot? (maybe its just fake, idk)

Sorry to necro my own thread, I just wanted to respond to this.

How do you walk around pranking people in Europe without getting stabbed? Pretty much the same for U.S. but with guns. Stay away from the ghetto areas. Gun violence statistics aren't high because we have normal people running around shooting people, it's because ghetto areas and gang violence raise this number.

You know its a difference between just easily pulling a trigger or raming a knife into a person directly in front of you.

But I know, guns are a very senstitive topic over there, god bless america (and my gun)

@Master I don't know where you take these stats, but let's just assume you're right: nevertheless, who buys the game has the full right to use it even alone, in the license agreement there is no clause that without a group of friends it is unplayable, so each player deserves to be able to take advantage of the product they purchased with their own money, both with and without friends.

I never suggested to remove soloplayer,  I said add ingame voice comms such that solo players can communicate too

Oh and btw, the devs could go ahead and change the game as they want, you are in no ways guaranteed anything

Elaborate how a KVK mode should work

Anyway, we will never see a KVK mode in DBD, I am pretty sure about that

It would be the basic idea of the killer with the most kills and hooks wins because that's what killers do is kill...   why dont you think that this could happen?
So nI generators, only hitting each other's?
Huntress would win every game probably

@Master The SWF is almost unsolvable. Here Devs must make a choice: what is better, to balance the game at SWF level, condemning solo survivors to a certain, systematic defeat, or to balance the game at Solo Survivors level, condemning killers to very hard trials against SWF teams? Is it more likely that a player survives alone or with friends? In my opinion, the answer is obvious: solo games are the vast majority, because it is not probable that friends share the same tastes in terms of videogames or have the same rhythms and hours of free time. In my experience, when I play as a survivor, in the 90% of the games I'm a Solo Survivor, in the remaining 10% I play in SWF parties.

That's simply not true. The devs revealed stats last year that in a bit more than 70% if all games there is a swf. That rate is even higher now.

What the devs need to do is give everyone ingame voice comms and balance the game around that. Everything else is laughable unless they want to remove swf

For some reason everytime I try to make a post it uploads twice. I don't know how to delete threads so sorry.

Is the optimization patch going to fix framerate issues? I don't know much about technology. But when I play killer (rank 5 atm) grabs don't work right. The animation will start but then my character swings and hits the gen. Super annoying. Will the optimization patch fix this?

I doubt that the optimization patch (if it ever happens at all) will have a big impact on fps, its BHVR were talking abuot here

  • Its still pathetic that this mechanic hasnt been adressed at all since the game has been released.
No idea who thought that thsi would be a good idea in the first time either, I guess they didnt even think of the possibility of a standoff

Yeah cause that will take forever... No one will bother doing that.

And yet they will stand there for as long as it takes for the killer to hit them and let them escape during the cooldown/invulnerability period.

It's not the time that survivors aren't prepared to waste. It's that if they're on gens, they're vulnerable. But if the killer and survivor are both on the hatch, the survivor is safe.

The only advantage the killer has, is that they can legit AFK (e.g. go for a smoke/toilet break) and body block the hatch. The survivor has to be ready (ish) to respond if the killer hits them.

Well the survivor can go afk too and come back later. The killer has to be ready to respond if the survivors jumps in

  • Its both, additionally it ignores collision with the killer

When the Killer performs a break action, maybe show the aura of the object being broken (gen/pallet) as well as the Killer's aura. That way a Survivor can tell if the Killer is chasing, or just patrolling, from across the map.

Before the "too OP" counter arguments flood in, just remember that there are far better perks that turn the game on its head, and give Survivors 10 more chances on top of the 10 they already get. That, and this perk is mostly for solo Survivors anyway; they don't always know if the Killer is in a chase, unlike SWF.

You want another buff to Alert??
    Serious?
I even used this perk pre buff, because I thought it is pretty damn good and than they BUFFED it.
And you even ask for MORE??

Only survivors are not ashamed to ask for stuff like this.

Ive never seen a killer wanting BBQ to give 200% bonus BP for example (like the old WGLF)

  • @Entità said:
@Master Are you speaking about SWF?

    Yes

  • If you mark SWF groups, killers need to get some kind of advantage (even a BP bonus would be sufficient) or they will refuse to play against them, at least a lot of them.

Oh yeah nvm, thats point 2

Yeah I agree that would be a first step until they figure out how to balance SWF

  • "rather new player" and "rank 3" yeah its one of the biggest problems of DBD, you rank up too fast.
I highly doubt that the devs will ever do such insane changes like reworking all hex perks at once, they are taking a lot of time to even change single perks like DS/SC.

Its probably more likely that we get additional objectives like the flowers from the event

I've always wondered why I never get blinded as hag actually. It's probably a bug. Also blinding at a pallet isn't toxic to me even tho I play hag and Nurse. Imo it's you just trying to survive

True thats not toxic, just like tunneling and camping arent toxic.
However clicking the flashlight is toxic

  • ofc you can blind her, but you gotta aim lower because she is significantly smaller than other killers
