Many people can agree that rank is pretty easy to rank up (or down.)

Do you feel as if ranking should take a lot longer to rank up? Why or why not? Just wanted to hear some opinions from both sides (survivors and killers)

It should take longer and it should be harder to rank up.

    Why?
Why even have a rank system if everybody can reach rank 1 anyway? Might aswell remove it completely then if you ask me....

I've played against killers in china before and even watched their streams and quite a few have better internet than some people in the US.

No offense, but that's kind of a low bar. The US has what is probably the worst Internet in the developed world.

as an Australian i can tell you that that statement is incorrect

I think it depend on the plan. When you paid more, you will have better internet service.
Maybe you can try 100 Mbps plan or higher. Even 1000Mbps is affordable nowadays.

australian internet is some of the worst in the world, 1000Mbps is a pipe dream and even 100Mbps is difficult to get

Up or downs dont matter. When it comes to gaming, then the only thing that matters is latency

Make it to where Survivors don’t get notified that the killer has the perk until the killer gets their 1st token for it. Instead of just getting notified after survivors hits their first skill check on a gen.

There doesnt need to be a notification AT ALL.

Why is everything handed to you in this game? Why not make them use their own brain and notice that skillchecks appear slightly earlier than they use to.

First off all, Hello (1rst post), It's nice to use theses new forums and I hope that they will be very active over time !

With that said, I was wondering what everyone would like to see on a personal stat screen that you can see in-game, in the future. I am aware it might take a while until we have it, but giving some ideas is a nice start.

So, what would you like to see on a personnal stat screen?

I know for my part I'd like to see theses for huntress :

    -% hatchets hit
    -longest hit
-hatchets used/match (and possibly per MAP)

Would be nice, but I would prefer if the devs actually worked on the real problems of the game before even considering stuff like this

I fear many don't understand what dedicated servers are going to do to the killer community. Right now, we host games and the game is based on our internet speed. So we may notice a few people "skipping" about due to lag, but the survivors are being yanked all over the field. When dedicated servers kick in, that won't work anymore. We will suffer our own lag, but the survivors won't as long as their connection is good.

I played 2 survivor games with my wife last night. The Trapper (I love facing my own killer!) was on a really bad net speed. I ran from the gas station to the bus, then got yanked back to the gas station where I was right next to the killer. #########! Then I start working a gen and BAM, I'm back by the killer shack where I left from 10 seconds ago. It was impossible to try to loop this killer due to lag. I kept getting yanked all over. He was a good player, but his lag made the game impossible. We talked afterwards (in a polite conversation, no toxicity) and he stated that his internet is not very good. This guy is going to HATE dedicated servers. His lag will be too bad to even consider playing killer.

Keep that in mind people. Get your net speeds worked out before dedicated servers. It will no longer work in your favor, it will be paralyzing as killers.

Just imagine how its gonna be when you cant hit a 360ing survivor in real-time on your own "server machine" anymore, but instead you have to deal with latency. (this will be noticeable even with perfect internet)

I dont even wanna think about what its going to do to huntress.....

    I assume it’s a bug.

Insidious shouldn’t work with any power being actively used.

The perk descriptions states "By standing still for 4/3/2 seconds, you reduce your Terror Radius to 0 metres and thus become stealthy until you move or act again."

So insidious should indeed stay active if you hold M2, no matter whether you do that as leatherface or huntress. It should work as huntress too and if it doesnt, then its a bug

It's funny how killer main complain about SWF teams with voice chat... But the game is nominated as "best with friends" at the steam awards .. what a coincidence,...

Its mostly becaise the game was built around solo play hence why bond and aftercare exists. Having an swf on comms has spme serious imbalances. You can run a object of obssesion uav drone that hangs around an obnoxious loop and constantly update your team on the killers position.

Gens are done faster as the team awares each other of any gen that are close to being done that a solo survivour could miss. Adrenaline is devastating on a co-ordinated team. If one survivour spots a hex totem everyone knows where it is. The list goes on but the point is swf still needs some tweaks. It shouldnt be removed.

The co ordination and advantages of swf should come with consequnces i.e. slower gen progression a single use mori for killer. Maybe two hooks states im spitballing ideas but its undeniable that swf is a little to strong and needs to be toned down in some way that gives the killer a chance.

The problem is voice chat and devs can't do anything because they are Third-party programs..

Oh the devs can certainly do something.
How about balancing the game around voice comms e.g.?

The survivor in question couldn't escape via the hatch as one of the other survivors decided to check for all the chests on the map.

When a survivor is bleeding out, then there is a timer and thus its not a hostage situation.
And yes, if you DC enough then you will get banned eventually afte rpassing an absurldy high DC rate

No I don’t this game is going to out right “Die”

Ive wrote up a few questions and topics and have had some good conversations but have not got told any definitive answer from somebody important.
Not on Twitter, not here, not on the game streams.
But ive checked Twitter. Read a lot of players tweets about the waiting times on console. It’s [BAD WORD] shocking. The amount of people tweeting the DBD page BEGGING for the game to be fixed is terrible.
A lot of people are in the same place I am. Inches away from leaving the game for good.
The waiting times aren’t the only problem.
You cant find a survivor game without waiting 20 minutes. So you try killer. Play a game or 2 and outta nowhere your frame rates drop and it becomes unplayable.
The game is in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it in and I’ve played it since day one of console drop.
But hey at least we’ll have an event to watch PC players take part in on YouTube cause no chance it’ll work at all for console 🙄🙄

Actually im surprised how long console killers endured under such circumstances.

Trapper no longer steps in his own traps. (How tf does he steps in the traps he places? Really stupid)
Dead hard no longer works on traps. (How does some dash to evade a lunge magically make your foot invulnerable from armed bear traps #########?)

A message to all killers. I never understood why people are afraid to fight any sort of survivors. Are you not a confident killer? Do you think you're bad? I don't get it. I understand killers have almost instantaneous wait times but survivors do not. I can't tell you how annoying it is to wait 10-15 minutes to find a game just to get dodged, sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row.

Stop being afraid of SWF groups, half the time i get dodged I'm only a group of 2 people. Sometimes people join up all at once, regardless of them being in a SWF together or not. Ontop of killers being afraid of specific survivors (???) I still dont understand that stigma. "Ope nope. I can't kill them, they have a claudette on the team. Time to dodge"

So TLDR killers, please stop dodging us. We understand you find games instantly but we do not.
    -sincerely,
survivors and our ridiculous wait times.

I'll dodge a SWF team that comes in with four flashlights. Obviously, they're looking to frustrate me as much as possible, which means I'll have to play extra sweaty to counter it. It isn't a matter of confidence, it's a matter of annoyance. Particularly considering if I'm facing a SWF team, I'm far more likely to burn my best add-on's, but get the same or fewer points as my reward.

But SWF are a pain in the ass anyway. In solo queue matches, if I catch a survivor at my totem, or they happen to loop me past it, only that survivor knows where it is, and I can focus extra attention on them. In SWF, everyone knows. This goes for trap placement and perks as well. If I surprise one survivor with Spirit Fury, I can still use that against the next survivor, and then the next... except in SWF. Once it's used the first time, all the survivors know and will throw pallets earlier to nullify my perk. The same can be done to nullify Make Your Choice and many other perks which, more or less, depend on survivors behaving in particular ways. With traps, since one person seeing it placed means everyone knows, the other members of the team can move in behind me and disarm or remove the trap they never would have otherwise known was there.

Furthermore, relatively few SWF groups are what they should be. If I'm a rank 10 killer, for example, and a SWF team joins in, I may be facing two rank 1's, along with a 15 and 10. Obviously, for less experienced killers, the match is going to go very differently and far more frustratingly than against four players with more or less the same experience and skill as himself.

What's really funny though are how many survivors, who play SWF primarily, complain that they face Nurse, Billy and Spirit in almost every match. The killer may not have planned to play those killers, but to counter SWF, they are the best choices.

Of course, you know all this, because these are the advantages you enjoy while playing SWF. That you're complaining that another player may not want to play against that demonstrates just how little empathy you have for other players. I'd recommend you stop complaining about being dodged, and make suggestions for how to make matchmaking better, or how to give Killers some other balance when facing SWF teams, or at least an incentive to play against them.

I would take 4 flashlights over even 2 toolboxes any day. You know they are all flashlight fkboys and you are going to have easy game.

Even if it's a free win (and that's only the case vs plebs) it still is not enjoyable for a lot of killers
  • Survivor queue times on PS4 are already kinda insane. Soon we get dedicated servers which will put killers into an even less favourable position.

I wonder whether we reach the same queue peaks like during the old wglf times.....
  • micsan said:

SWF dodging is going to kill this game, it almost already has...The fact that SWF is so toxic right now is a result of SWF dodging.

Most people who are casual players have already quit because SWF is not an option. Who in their right mind will continue to play a game with 10-15 minute queue times? Only toxic tryhards that don't care about the wait time.

If SWF is not an option, I'm not going to play killer, not going to play solo, not going to play duo, I'm going to play something else.

I keep coming back to these forums in hopes of learning that these issues will be fixed, but this very thread makes me think that this is not in the near future.

I'm defintely not a toxic tryhard. I just enjoy playing this game?

If I do SWF i generally only do a 2 man group. Very rarely do I do a full 4 man squad. I think everyone needs to stop pushing everyone into a box.

"We dodge because EVERY SINGLE SURVIVOR WITH ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTION is a teababbing p3 claudette who is 4 man SWF with a flashlight and decisive strike!!!!"

Like...per example the other day I was a 3 man SWF and the 4th player, the random, was teabagging the entire game. While, my SWF group is not toxic teabaggers.
Without swf indication and with the new lobby system I ask you, how Iß the killet supposed to know whether you are solo or a 4 man squad?
He will assume the worst, it'd really easy.
Personally I would never dodge a lobby of solo survivors, even if they bring all a flashlight. But since I can't tell.....
  • MegMain98 said:

Some people don’t want to face lobbies with 4 P3 Claudettes and Megs with flashlights and Decisive Strike. My friend group has been lobby dodged MANY times and we’ve waited an hour for games at certain points, but do I blame the killer? No. Not many people want to get demolished by a 4 man SWF group.

I don't use meg. or claudette. I don't use items. Or decisive strike. Yet I get dodged constantly lol. Back to the whole "invisible rulebook" thing lol.
I always play claudette and I almost never get dodged.

I guess the reason is either your ping, your name or excessive items

Here's the thing- I actually work in the industry. Dedicated servers will provide better latency for all players averaged out- people will ping 50-75 across the board, during the game (not fakenews lobby latency), rather than the killer pinging zero and survivors at the mercy of thei killer's personal connection and rig (current status). I appreciate your trying to make a counterpoint, but what you said about increasing the overall latency is 100% false. If people have a poor connection, then it will affect only them (also, it's THEIR problem) not the other players who have a stable connection. I genuinely don't care what quotes you have about BHVR- whether or not you're quoting them directly or not. I manage a 55,000 sq ft. datacenter and provide infrastructure as a service for enterprise customers exponentially larger than BHVR. I know what I'm talking about- and this isn't even a complicated/debatable topic.

This is not a data center issue, it is a physical location issue, and I am 100% correct. The P2P latency we currently have is much lower than the client-server-client latency that we will experience once the switch to dedicated servers is made. It’s simple math, instead of a single line between survivor and killer, we have 2 lines. This is why BHVR said the EXACT same thing, this WILL NOT reduce the overall latency, it will be at the very least, slightly worse. I’ve been writing software for over 40 years, 99% of that software communicates over long distances, and globally. I think I know what I’m talking about, and not just blowing numbers out of my ass.

It will be worse for killer, but better for survivors
  • i guess that freddy buff/rework the devs had talked about in 3-4 of their live streams back to back is never happening (PS i won't be replying or even see any notifications for this post because i don't stay on the forums so moderators feel free to turn off chat or even remove this post)
    Have a good night campers!

The Freddy buff is a killer issue so bhvr takes their sweet time as usual.
  • Swf is still in the game, so yes trapper is still garbage. But even against solo player ,  doesn't perform well.....it hurts when I remember the days when trapper was fun
  • I don't understand why people get so mad over flashlights, they're one of the survivors worst items. They are very easy to counter as a killer, not only with perks, looking at walls etc etc but they also make survivors play really stupid and careless. They also put them in really vulnerable positions. On top of it all, while those flashlight survivors are hugging their tunneled friends, that's time spent doing absolutely nothing. They could be doing gens but instead they're just crouching in the grass waiting for you to slug them.
Explain it to me again please, how do I counter a pallet blind for example?

If flashlights are so weak, why do you wanna use them?

A 5 second cooldown is not enough of a punishment for taking the matchmaking into your own hands.

Perhaps, for each dodge in a certain timespan (day, week, or month), the cooldown increases further. To max of 5 minutes, or, even, to a 1-day ban.

Though really, it should probably be 5 minutes from the start, because there isn't any real reason why you would dodge a full lobby and then immediately requeue, unless you did it on purpose.

Of course you suggest punishing the other side instead of balancing the game aroudn voice comms

  • If the ranking system worked properly, then it should be basically impossible to become rank 1 as freddy

Honestly, camping isn't all that bad. Tunnelling is the problem. And the logic some people on this forum have said baffles me. One time someone said to me when a killer breaks a gen and you go back on it that's 'tunnelling a gen'. The equivalent to tunnelling is teabagging. Looping and camping are part of the game

Just like tunneling is part of the game.
Face it, its simply the time efficient solution to focus down on one survivor.

Tbagging has no gameplay impact btw, its just toxic

[BAD WORD] tunnelers. It's acceptable when they tunnel you when there's 2 gens left, I won't get mad at that. But when one guy [BAD WORD] tunnels you when they have 4 gens left or for the whole game, it seriously pisses me off. It's a scummy way to win. I only accept tunneling when the killers got less time to secure kills.

Btw you're not getting me to change my mind on tunneling.

If somebody dies when there are 4 gens left survivors farmed their team mate off the hook, how is that killers fault?

As a killer you are supposed to play bad intentionally if the survivors are bad

But unlike survivors ultra rares the killer gets multiple uses out of them during a trial and is guaranteed to be able to do so. The survivor has to actually escape and escape with their item and it only takes one camper or tunneler or mori and it's goodbye items and addons.

That won't stop other survivors from taking and using said item though. The item still exists, it's just not in the hands of the same survivor but from a Killers perspective that doesn't matter, in fact it makes it even worse because even if you finally kill that key-user or flashlight, someone can just run by and pick it up again.

Not really complaining about it, I just want to point out that Survivors items and add-ons are a lot easier to get and to keep compared to Killers :)

Well that's assuming someone knows where you dropped it and picks it up and also makes it out of the trial with said item though. As far as survivors items easier to get well yeah that's pretty obvious why since it's harder for them t get bp compared to a killer.

For keeping yes it can be easier but doesn't mean it always is though and again teh killer can and usually does make more bp per run then that individual survivor did. On average the killer will make out better on both bp and on items comparatively.

Also the really good players aren't that common compared to the potatoes that make up the majority of the playerbase. Throw in killers that have everything P3'd and are always complaining about having excess bp to spend.

Most of the red rank survivors i solo up with play 4-6 different characters with each having a specific loadout they run depending on who's in the lobby and dailies. For those most also rarely bring items and if they do it's not higher than a green usually.

Well ever heard about this thing called SWF and voice comms? Yeah its a thing nowadays :sarcastic:

Aha, not higher than green? So green toolbox every game is indeed possible, glad that you admit on that now
Nobody claimed that survivors can bring BNP or insta heals every game becuse thats impossible too. Its only the fact that they can keep their green stuff upon escaping that makes it a strategy they can use in every game

  • @powerbats said:

    @Master said:

Exactly, you spend thousands of hours until you stockpile 50 of such. But thats exactly what I was saying, you cant do this every game because you lose your stuff every game and need to spend absurd amount of BP for it.

I never had an issue though earning way more bp though and getting my items back to the point I finally stopped spending bp on her. Had I kept going I'd have close to 500 each of those items instead of spending that bp on other toons.

If you throw in 1.5 or 2x bp events it's insane how much bp you earn to the point you're stockpiled for months if you blow it all on your main.

If you throw in offerings, then you cant even bring a mori every game?
Please are you trying to tell me that you can earn enough BP to use ultra rare addons+offering every game? Then Id like you to explain this to me, I must be doing sth wrong
