  • For me, absolutely! Likewise, when I play survivor and the killer played well I'll compliment them on a specific reason why. People mostly react positively to compliments, but even more so if it's for a particular playstyle.

Good for you to spread positivity by the way! That is most welcome here. Also, welcome to the game!

  • They haven't released all the details yet, and I'm certain that the idea of this system being abused has crossed their minds and it won't be nearly as simple as pressing a button. They probably will require evidence

Also, when the complaint is generated the details of the reporter are also available. It seems obvious to me if the same person starts sending tons of reports and complaints that this will qlso be picked up on and noticed.

It's best to wait until more details emerge before hitting the Caps Lock button.

  • From what I've seen so far those 2 zombies have been more than effective. I think it's the right balance, although maybe it would have been nice to add an ultra rare offering of adding 1 more, but that's just mw being picky.

  • I watched it on the YouTube app on the Xbox to deliberately avoid the chat.

Last year was just pathetic in attitudes of some of those in chat. I admit that I was hoping this year would be different and maybe regret not joining chat, but from what has been said and seen it is yet more of the same pointless crap from a select portion of the community.

Hopefully, those are the guys who are toxic in-game and get the bans. This place doesn't need those.

  • Well, if a killer doesn't decide to use hex perks, then Counterforce just send survivors on a wild goose chase for the trial, wasting their time.

It also is a powerful perk, but those who like using the meta will have to sacrifice one of those perks for this.

It legitimately could change the meta (mind you, a lot of the perks in this are contenders), which is what people have been asking for the longest time.

The main thing is you can now have further development in what builds you like.

I think Small Game will have its place when searching around the map as you go, and Counterforce does send you across the map to a totem which may or may not be a hex, but it will be a new way to plan the trial.

  • I love them!!

So far in videos, they've blocked doorways, swarmed survivors and in one video the zombie actually camped a hooked survivor!

They can also be a pain in the derrier for Nemesis too, but overall those dudes have so much fun potential for Nemesis trials.

  • The new chapter and the new year both look really great! I like that there's a step forwards in relation to dealing with toxicity and helping newer players. There's a big change towards improving the community aspect, which will be very much appreciated.

I love the AI zombies! I had imagined a "Silent Hill 4: The Room" chapter, where Walter could raise ghosts to stalk survivors, so to see a killer which does have minions within the game is brilliant!

Perks are fun and add explosions everywhere, as well as a decent opening-of-trial killer perk. I also think Nemesis' red add-on which spawns zombies by the exit gate could be pretty neat too.

Basically, it's looking extremely promising! Am definately looking forward to the new year.

  • Agreed. I'm a fair player and will be watching out for newer guys.

  • I think what they're alluding to is to make those buttons actually mean something.

At the same time, I highly doubt the idea of the system being abused has not been discussed within the team, so it's not likely they'll ban someone without decent supportive evidence - that would include consistency of claims, video and screenshot evidence. So I'm actually not that concerned about this. The people who should be very concerned are the trolls, racists, homophobes and various other toxic parasites that live for torment.

I feel it will be done right and that this may detract those individuals, whilst making a safer place to play for both newer and older players who will bring a more healthy attitude to the game.

  • In general, discussing game health is good, so long as it is kept balanced and civil. Regrettably, there's a few people who cannot remain civil and feel that anyone who dares question their point of view needs to be smited for their insolence.

I'm excited for the RE reveal and what the new year has in store, as well as it's longevity. Also, I'm certainly not someone who batters the devs - I genuinely think they do well overall. However, to not bring up imbalance, bugs and concerns would not be healthy for the future of the game, so it does need talking about too - just not like the playground garbage that sometimes stinks up the place.

  • While I'm betting on Nemesis being the killer, I think the 2 words "iconic content" doesn't necessarily mean survivor and/or killer would be iconic.

There are probably going to be a butt-load of legendary skins, and those skins could be all different types of characters! David as Barry Burton, Nurse as a daughter of Lady Dimitrescu, Yui as Ada Wong, Felix as Ethan Winters ... they all would work, and some of those skins may be for iconic characters.

Granted, I'm more inclined to feel the survivor and killer will be well known ones (Chris for survivor, perhaps? Also, R.P.D building for map?), but if it turns out to be Ethan Winters and Lady Dimitrescu, with skins of Leon, etc., then they still followed through on the phrase "iconic content".

  • He's still fairly common in my trials. Maybe with the sheer variety of killers he gets lost in the shuffle on some servers?

  • A Magnus Archive survivor - Jonathan Sims:

In short, an archivist who has certqin supernatural powers linked to an entity called "The Beholding"

#1. Persona: You are able to take on characteristics of those who give you statements.

When you finish a healing action on another survivor, you are able to know 1/2/3 of their perks. - Starting those you may not have. You also gain the power of one of those perks for 40/50/60 seconds, effectively giving a temporary 5th perk.

#2. Compulsion: You are able to compel others to give statements, willingly or otherwise. - When you are hit by the killer, you are able to see 1 killer perk. This can happen 1/2/3 times throughout the trial. There is a 60 second cooldown between uses, and cannot be activated when the survivor has the "Endurance" status.

#3. Knowing: You are able to know certain things without prior knowledge. - At the start of the trial, the aura of the killer and survivors are shown to you. You will also see 1/2/3 treasure chests and the item within. The effect vanishes after 4/6/8 seconds.

  • An Alan Wake perk:

Bring the Light: You know the power light holds is key to facing the darkness.

The perk becomes active once you have done 80%/70%/65% of a generator. The next time you complete a gen, a radius of 16m/16m/20m around the gen brightens up more than usual for 1 second. Any killer within that radius will be blinded and spun around. Once used, the perk becomes inactive until charged again.

  • It was a close call between them and Quentin, but I think Quentin has appeared a little more.

  • And to you too Sir/ Madam/ Mx.👍

  • They're all great options. I was torn between Outlast, The Evil Within and Alan Wake. Ultimately, I chose Alan Wake because I was thinking of characters who had options for different perks.

From a survivor's point of view, there aren't any perks themed around light, so Alan Wake could have perks based on that.

For example, a perk where when he completes a generator, the light above can blind a killer within a set radius, giving survivors a chance to escape from a closeby killer, as well as a semi-counter to Tinkerer.

Alternatively, perks that involve the effectiveness of torches, or even a perk that brings in a flare the survivor can light and carry around for a brief set of time, which doesn't blind the killer, but maybe distorts its vision.

As for the killer, the perfect opponent would be Mr. Scratch. His power would definitely involve mqnipulating the darkness around him to hinder survivors. He could also teleport within the darkness.

As for his perks, he could have perks based on his manipulative nature, as well as darkness. He could be able to block a random survivor perk, hide the regressive sparks on a gen whilst also granting a brief period of undectableness and a slowdown effect on the gen, and finally a perk which - when activated - causes torches to jam for a brief period of time; either from a hit or a radius of effect.

  • I'd create a new objective during trials which would allow characters to grab parts and ingredients within the trial itself, which in turn would allow crafting and custom-making inbetween new trials.

There would be a marketplace where players can trade items, parts of bloodpoints inbetween trials also.

The Bloodweb would then need less items and offerings; making room for more perks within the web. There would still be items within the bloodweb, but not as many.

This would create a new in-game objective, a new mechanic for crafting, a new marketplace for trade, and an easier grind.

  • Grabs definitely need fixing. When your killer does a grab motion and the animation paused for a second before the survivor runs off, it is very frustrating.

  • Do you at least have official confirmation from BHVR admitting they made an error?

I do understand that it wouldn't be easy to discuss this, but at the same time you can see how - without any evidence to show - it's impossible to confirm, based on the person just saying so.

We'd need evidence to officially confirm this. Otherwise, unfortunately it's just your word, and that's not nearly enough evidence since it tells us nothing of what happened.

  • Last year, the Silent Hill PTB came out the same day, I believe.

Being this is a more rounded-number celebration, there's all the more reason for the PTB do be up and running the same day.

They can't have such an eagerly-awaited chapter announced after all the build-up, only to tell people they have to wait even longer afterwards.

May I ask what identity v killer would be great for dbd?

Maybe that "Bloody Mary" character? Her ability to create a mirror imagine amd control it so she's in 2 places at any one time would be fun.

Maybe that could work for a killer like Sadako from The Ring, by creating a static-version of itself to attack survivors.

    Confirmation: Literally nobody

His 'confirmation': Well my friend said he got banned for nothing so it must be true.

Confirming whether an unfair ban has happened is practically impossible, because in order to prove this, BHVR needs to basically say "We made an error", and as you're effectively saying: we only have the accused person's word that it was unjustified, which may very well be loose with the truth.

I was just interested as to whether this has happened. But I cannot believe BHVR would say: "Yeah, we banned you, but we made an error. No hard feelings?".

Your thoughts were similar to mine, in that it's very difficult to prove conclusively.

  • The cage is based on the design on Maria/ Mary final form, and as it's named "The Cage of Atonement", it's probably that the torment that affected them found their inner guilt, and the cage makes them atone for those sins. In terms of Silent Hill 2, the final form is effectively there to male James atone for what his sins were.

Cage of Atonement and Maria/ Mary:

    mary-photo-u3.jpeg.jpg

The Rights of Judgement is a little harder to explain, but the razor-wire is similar to the barbed wire seen in both the game and movies. These wires seek to avenge young Alessa for the torture others put her through. It fits in with Pyramid Head being judgement, and causes suffering in survivors (which I also believe is psychological as well as physical pain).

It's also possible the carving of the ground may be an "infection", similar to the blight, that comes from the Entities contact with Silent Hill, as well as maybe even feeding off the Entity with all that is being judged there.

Alessa's wirey revenge from the movie:

    maxresdefault-1.jpg

The Punishment of the Damned energy wave I think is just an expansion of the above idea to use as a anti-loop weapon, because at the time a lot was being said about looping and infinite loops, so he was probably following the Deathslinger in anti-loop powers. If I think of it, Blight, Twins and Trickster also have abilities which weaken loops, so it's probably an ongoing thing.

As for its power, I believe Pyramid Head has brought some of the Silent Hill influence, and the Sun Goddess that Silent Hill cult worships has someine gained a weak but significant hold within the realm and uses it to feed. Hence why, with the exception of Myers, Pyramid Head can both sacrifice and kill survivors without permission from the Entity - it's a way of feeding the Sun Goddess.

Basically, it's a cosmic horror deity mixing with an unknown God, so there may be some squabbles, although largely they have "an agreement".

  • Recently, it was on a Coldwind Farm map, where I was watching from a distance of a survivor being chased by Legion. Problem was I assumed it was Legion, so waited until they left. I was actually just watching 2 survivors running together.

I know this, because whilst watching this I got blasted from behind by Legion. I did wonder why I hadn't heard him, but turns out he had Tinkerer.

Well I have actually confirmation that killers really can get banned for stuff like that.

    Who has confirmed this?

  • There are people who just type "reported", as if they believe you'll be banned, just because of their sayso.

The truth of the matter is that nothing happens. Most are just attempts to keep up their false idea that they're great and cannot accept someone may have beaten them because they played better.

Very few attempt the ban, and so long as you haven't cheated, the people dealing with the complaints will see that clearly and throw it out.

They're probably just trying to shift this imaginary pull of power to their advantage; compensating for the fact they've felt vulnerable and can't handle it.

I personally think That the cultists that worship The Entity are a bunch of mentally Ill people and/or criminals.

Or they think that The Entity is a god and they HAVE to worship it

    And for the pariah lore...

I prefer to get a survivor that Is a pariah in the first place And not just revealing in jeff's tome for example that he's a pariah It would ruin the backstory ngl

Feng's lore is just Perfect for me, I love her design her backstory her perks EVERYTHING! All i want is a tome Is that too much to ask for T-T

And her backstory is REALLY underrated People see her as: "A really selfish person who's mean and rude to everybody" Or "Her backstory is really bad, It doesn't tell us her personality" She has a VERY underrated backstory imo

The best stories have many shades of grey. Someone may appear selfish, but there may well be a reason behind it. That's what makes characters so much more interesting - when it's not just a case of "Oh, that person is just selfish". It's often more than that, and humans jusr are not so basic as to be two-dimensional characters.

Ya I really liked the idea of Whatever it takes because it'll give the last survivor a little edge and an extra option at escape besides the hatch and trying to finish 1 more generator and than opening the gate. And ya the limb dismemberment was such a huge part of dead space I was trying to think if Isaac would set up a trap or rig something to impair the killer in some way but wasn't sure if people would like the idea of slowing down killers when they already have a hard time getting loopers lol. But I do like that idea a lot! xD What're thoughts on the other two perks? I know they're very situational but can pay off big if they do. The person using these perks are actually all situational so would require a little bit more of a reserved gameplay. Which is something Isaac Clarke would do. He never just runs into a room unprepared. He is always thinking ahead and is just a beast!

Yeah, they're good! "Not This Time" could perhaps be a one-time-only activation perk, as opposed to having a cooldown, but "I'll Handle This" sounds like a great equalizer to a very specific situation, especially if it also includes dcing.

They are situational, but in those situations they are pretty devastating. "Not This Time" has potential to be up there as a quite powerful perk, come to think of it!

Phew with Gotham, I would like Jerome or Scarecrow or Professor Pyg as a killer and Jim Gordon as a survivor.

Funnily enough, if they could get permission for cosmetics from the appropriate sources, Scarecrow from the Batman: Arkham Knight would be the perfect legendary skin for Freddy Krueger. Even the power fits in with Scarecrow's fear toxins!

  • Nemesis feels like he has the most potential for me, not to mention options for multiple other skins as various forms of Tyrants.

Think of the amount of skins there could be in general!:

    • Elodie - Sheva

    • Felix - Albert Wesker/ Ethan Winters

    • Yui - Ada Wong

    • Dwight - Brad Vickers

    • David - Barry Burton

    • Meg - Sherry Birkin (RE6)

    • Feng - Rebecca Chambers

    • The Blight - Hunter (RE1)

    • The Hillbilly - Dr. Salvador

    • The Nurse - Daughters of Lady Dimitrescu

    • The Plague - Lady Dimitrescu

    • The Hag - Crimson Head Zombie

    • The Trapper - Jack Baker

So yeah, lots of opportunities for some good cosmetics and legendary skins!

  • I chose other, because I cannot narrow it down to just one of them.

The series that I'd choose would be:

    • Supernatural

    • Gotham

    • The Walking Dead

One top of those, I'd also choose:

    • X-Files

    • Channel Zero

    • Buffy the Vampire Slayer

    • Haven

    • The Real Ghostbusters

    And so many more!

  • I like the "Whatever It Takes" perk. That could give killers some serious paranoia, not knowing what to watch for when down to one survivor.

Could another perk idea be based on the Dead Space lore of dismembering limbs, and have a perk that has a long cooldown or can be only used a set amount of time, but a gen can be rigged so when a killer kicks it, the regression is more but the killer receives a speed penalty for a set period of time?

  • I admit - I was expecting a poem or lyric when I clicked this discussion, having read the word "Ode" 😁.

However, I completely agree. It's one of the strongest perks to have in your arsenal, and certainly ups the stakes in a game.

  • It reminds me a bit of when I was at Junior School, and when someone was beaten in a race or test they say: "Yeah, well I wasn't really trying anyway. I'd beat you if I wanted to!"

Mostly, it says more about the person declaring it; that they're just sore that they weren't any good, and heavens forbid they'd admit there's anything they need to change!

Also reminds me of what I overheard my neighbours saying a couple of days back. The father was saying to his son he needed to go to school, and the son replied: "Why? I already know everything I need to know in life". He's probably one of them.

  • Minorly irked, but usually at myself for making mistakes. I tqke a minute tp reflect on where I cocked up, devise a solution in my head (don't cock up next time) and move on.

  • I'm going on a limb to say this is bait, but if not then I'd point out a killer cannot grab a survivor who is not interracting. By your comment, the survivor is not interracting when you go for the hit, so no grab would happen.

It's a survivor tactic to free a survivor, without costing both their lives. It's better to improve your timing.

I really hope his brother isn't a pariah Or have any of the existing survivors be related to the pariahs/imperiatti

It would be a bad twist IMO

Depends how it's executed. Yet it would be an issue if too many things were crammed into that specific part of lore. It becomes far too compacted.

Since there are so many worlds, there's most probably as many cults, of which the Imperiatti is just one.

One thing I never get in these tales though: in spite of the fact this thing feeds off fear, and relishes in torment, why is there always a cult worshipping it? I've seen enough horror to know those guys are more often on the losing end than not.

  • I'm going for Nemesis as the killer. When it says there will be novel ways to sacrifice, I wonder if Nemesis can infect a survivor that can turn them into a zombie.

I'd love this idea, because I've always envisioned an idea for Silent Hill 4: The Room of Walter being a killer and bringing back fallen survivors as ghosts. This could also make the game rather tense, especially in the late stages.

There could also be a ton of cosmetic options:

    • Nemesis could have all sorts of legendary cosmetics, due to all the Tyrants, William Birkin, etc..

    • The nurse could have one of the sister legendary outfits from RE8. Maybe even change the teleport effect to one with flies.

    • Adiris could have a Lady Dimitrescu skin

    • Dwight with a Brad Vickers skin.

    • Feng with an Ada Wong skin.

    • David as Barry Burton.

    • The Hag with a traditional zombie skin.

    • Demogorgon could have a Hunter skin.

I'm almost more excited for those options than the chapter itself, and I'm very excited for the chapter.

  • Before the dc bans were introduced there would be so many times where people would dc because they were the first to be hooked, or some equally obnoxious reason. Playing the game was so frustrating because of players throwing their toys out of the pram.

I do agree it can be very frustrating for people if it's a connection issue, or worse a bug. It's only ever happened to me once and it was really irritating. But there are four more people to consider in that match, where there experience is trashed because of that dc.

Overall, the bans should stay. It deters people from being so liberal with disconnecting. They were far more common than people unfortunate to be booted.

I really want to get to know his brother, We only knew that he graduated with honors So he's a smart guy That's all we know

Could it become a tragedy, and have his brother be a member of the Pariahs? Have it so that they don't have the same mother or father, so in a twist the Entity took Jake for no other reason than to lure the brother.

I personally think that the OG 4 feng and jane are the only interesting ones for me, Im still waiting for a jake/feng tome, I really liked dwight meg and claudette's tomes, But jane's was ehhh It was good but not great

I think BHVR said Jake was going to feature in the next Tome, so with some luck you'll get a good slice of lore then!

  • HybridPanda, the excellent YouTuber that he was.

Also that it felt fresh, but not without faults such as insta-gen and the impossiblw to escape bear-trap scenario.

  • Sacrifice 2 survivors during the End Game Collapse using NOED.

I've never felt so apologetic in my life, especially when I got it on Haddonfield and the 2 were sacrificed after being downed on full health (1 had used Adrenaline, so I don't feel as bad about that) when they were so close to escaping.

I also got no salt, which made me feel infinitely worse because they clearly took it in good sport and moved on.

Never played for a couple of days after that.

  • It always changes, but the songs from that era that stand out for me:

    1. "Afterlife" by The Arcade Fire

    2. "Idioteque" by Radiohead

    3. "No Reptiles" by Everything Everything

    4. "Warrior's Dance" by The Prodigy

    5. "Falling" by Haim

  • The survivor stories that involve grey areas (like Dwight or David) are normally more interesting. Like the Wraith's story for killer.

It'll be decent to have similar, grey-area stories for more survivors and perhaps even create a loose link that connects all survivors together as to why they specifically are focused on. I mean, I understand the Entity focuses on people with greater hope, but maybe something else - what, I'm not so sure of though.

  • I'd make the Trapper Sack base-kit and have the traps spawn closer together.

Another option could be to have him able to make a couple of different traps: Bear traps (of course!), and maybe trip wires, snare or even a conibear trap.

Evan is always going to be a territorial killer, and that's good in terms of killer variety. However, a faster start and a couple of variations to the traps to keep survivors on their toes would help.

  • I'd move Pyramid Head up a couple of places to the left. Otherwise, it's perfection.👌

  • That's sounds like it may be a blip of some kind? I only get the news page when there's something new to report.

What do you play DBD on? Could it be specific to the console you use? I'm Xbox, and haven't experienced it on there.

  • Playing the long game works for me, but if you prefer not to shrink the map by letting them have a couple of gens early on in exchange for molding the map as you see fit, then the best defence is a good offence.

Take a survivor down quickly and take them to a hook that is either basement or away from most gens. Map control isn't all about the gens, and forcing survivors away from this main objective will slow the game down.

Alternatively, injure as many as you can as they flock together. They'll escape and heal, taking time away from gens.

Basically, in the words of the great Faith No More: Be Aggressive ... but not in the way that song meant. That would change the game entirely.

1 … 78 79 80 81 82 … 98
